A/N: Let's keep this going. I might, regrettably, have another thing for My Hero planned, or in the works, I dunno. I've been working on it for weeks now but I guess we'll see. Anywho, Review Time.
To Murtaito: Good to know the last chapter was to your liking. This villain will hopefully live up to its build-up, he's quite the... massacre ;)
Enjoy.
Chapter 34 - Movie, At Nightfall
[Central Tower Security]
Another guard was bound and thrown into a janitor's closet, much to the one in charge's chagrin but he couldn't risk suspicion as to why the guards weren't present at their stations for atleast a few minutes. Humming past his 'hired help', he pressed a black hand to the control panel, the same, white lines of code, peeling back buttons and controls, information feeding through the system with each second, and additional wire.
"What now, boss?" He turned at the question, pulling his hand away
"Well, now that we've kept security at its minimum we should be able to walk around the tower freely, don't worry, I'll handle the rest of the heavy lifting, all you have to do is keep this place secure until I give the word," His cloaked hand waved to them all. "Let this be the biggest paying, yet the easiest job of your lives! So, prop your feet up and enjoy the show."
Another with a bladed arm spoke up. "What if someone starts making their way up here?" It was one of four guys coming with him, much as he hated to admit it, the hired help would serve as insurance while he took care of the dirty business
"Then kill them, you got guns, don't you? Hahahaha..." He flicked his claw off the muzzle while they entered the lift, tipping the crook of his hood to the rest. "Have fuuuun~" Then the elevator doors slammed shut
"Man that guy creeps me out." One eventually worded what everyone was thinking
[Reception Entrance]
After hastily throwing his formal wear together after Iida's abrupt call, Izuku finally made it to the gathering point they decided on. Once the doors to the lift opened he jogged out with a frantic look. "Sorry about that... you guys?" He slowed himself back to reality upon inspecting that not all of them had arrived, only most of the guys. "Huh? Where is everybody?"
Iida wasn't pleased about the ordeal, his hand chopping the air. "They're not here yet, does a proper meeting time mean nothing to you people!?"
"I did say I was sorry..." Akio scratched his cheek. "Something came up and... well, it's nothing important atleast I hope it's not." Even for the overly cheery Akio, it was concerning to see him so distracted, then the lift across the hall dinged with the registration ID for Yaoyorozu
"Sorry I'm late-" Ochaco was the first to step up, rubbing her head awkwardly in her white and pink dress. "-It took me a while to get ready."
"Best night ever!" Kaminari squealed, Akio just blinked, not understanding why his mood suddenly peaked. I guess it was to do with Ochaco's looks, she was nice, but again, Akio didn't get it
"Apologise for the tardiness, Jiro's feeling shy," Yaoyorozu apologized, herself wearing a long, lime-green dress. As for her nervous wreck of a best friend who was hiding behind her.
Jiro wore, surprisingly, a magenta corset and skirt with a dark purple bow. She did sport her leather jacket and a choker necklace. A pair of marron, fingerless gloves with magenta flats, and grey leggings. The bangs on her right side were combed behind her ear with a pink flower, leaving only the left side untouched.
Between all their compliments and reactions, it was Akio's blank stare that had her in knots, she knew trusting her own Mom with this was a bad idea, heck, the whole formal dress thing was a horrible plan in of itself. She didn't see what exactly made her stand out to him, or anyone. Stealing glances at Ochaco and Yaomomo immediately told her the difference. A part of her seriously hated it.
Keeping up her attitude she remarked while patting the jacket. "This is fancier than anything I've ever worn, feels like a costume,"
"I'm just glad you're not in a t-shirt or something," Kaminari just tore down her last nerve, even Akio's shadow looked to sharpen considerably. A jack immediately plugged itself into his head, blasting him with sonic waves. "AHH, why would you do that, it was a compliment."
"Not it wasn't," Kyoka seethed, crossing her arms until Akio approached, bringing back the butterflies in her stomach. "W-what?"
"There's nothing I can say," He began slowly, keeping his voice low just for her to hear alongside Yaoyorozu who helped to shield their conversation. Kyoka did flinch at his words, expecting the answ- "Stunning, beautiful, amazing... all of the above," His stupid smile and slight blush almost made her turn redder than a tomato
"I-I um, t-t-thanks A-Akio, I," While her words failed entirely, and her mind completely fizzled out and died. She softly 'eeped' as his lips pecked her on the forehead quickly, offering her his hand. "H-h-how can y-you say, um, a-all that?"
Akio shrugged, stepping back as to not arouse any suspicion on the two, leaning closer to her ear. "Because it's the truth, Kyo," Her face further blushed under the nickname, and her jack flicked him across the ear
"I hate you, why are you so damn good at this, you're hopeless at everything else," Her hand squeezed back with a gentle smile. She wanted to thank him properly but there were too many eyes at the moment. Shaking her head, Kyoka grinned and turned her head back to the elevator. "Alright, I've suffered, come on, Yuyu!" This pulled everyone's attention to the lift that still hadn't closed, the girl in question stepping out from just behind the edge of the door
Slowly, Yuki stepped out from behind Yaoyorozu, smiling bashfully while playing with her hair. The whole atmosphere practically froze in place, especially around Izuku, he didn't even hear what Kyoka said as he already spotted her between the girls
The mute stepped forward in a royal-red Qipao China dress, black flora patterns lining the left side, the fabric split at both sides to show off her legs dressed in black, semi-translucent leggings. A pair of red flats too. The rest of the dress was trimmed with white, a few small, white bows dotting her sides. The arms were cropped to just below the shoulders, the fabric splitting to partially reveal her collarbone and the edge of her chest.
Yuki continued to wear her mask off to the left-hand side of her head only now it was adorned with a red rose to add to the complete contrast to her blue hair and eyes. Placing one hand on her hip she smirked. 'So, did I nail all the right marks or what? ;)'
"So beautiful..." Kaminari mouthed, unable to look away, even Akio had to nod alongside him
With his own goofy grin, Akio answered, "Breathtaking as always, Yuki!" He threw a thumb her way, herself giving a polite nod
"I honestly didn't expect you to wear red, I thought you'd have chosen blue to match your hair?" Todoroki inquired, himself trying to use Yuki as an excuse to not stare at one of the girls in particular. Though Yuki caught on, sliding over to nudge his side with curved eyes. "Stop that..." He scratched his cheek
'Your secret's safe with meeee~! I'll promise not to leave you alone with her as you did with me and Izuku, ;)' Even in her note, he felt as though he was anything but safe
Another ding from the lift and the last to arrive stepped out with a bright smile. "Oh good, I thought I was going to miss you guys!" Melissa beamed in a stunning white and blue dress, her hair done up in a flowing ponytail with a hairband, having also removed her glasses, she looked completely different compared to earlier in the day
"I think I'm in heaven, Akio, I'm might just die right now!" Kaminari practically wept beside Akio with tears of joy and a sparkle in his aura. He just patted his friend's head while Kyoka looked on beside her boyfriend with a hesitant smile
"Those extra tickets were a mistake."
"Aye..."
"You can say that again." Even Viral murmured in Akio's mind, shuddering at the display
Not long after the group realized that Bakugo would probably refuse to show up, so without any further delays, Iida led them on to the event hall for the night, the only two hanging in the back being Yuki and Izuku. She turned to her partner, wondering why he hadn't said anything since they arrived, it was starting to worry her.
"I guess Mom's 'full-proof-plan' wasn't exactly checked out for leaks," It caused her to deflate. Reading Izuku at times like these were so perplexing, he'd have a neutral look in his eyes that left you questioning whether you were right or wrong, hell, there were times he just flat out zoned out more than usual. "Does it really not look good on me? Is the color wrong? SIVA-"
"You look amazing," Yuki's breath hitched in her throat, a hand stopping her as Izuku looked at her seriously. "I... I'm sorry I was staring so much b-but you... i-in that dress was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
Her face lit up, words jumbled in her head while Izuku continued to look at her directly, he was suppressing his own embarrassment for her, and she'd be lying if that, coupled with his own looks didn't make her think it was really sexy. As her lips curled into a smile, she leaned forward and gently kissed him on the cheek, tearing away his resolve as she held out her hand for him.
'You look dashing yourself, my good sir. Think you can treat me to a nice night?' She added with a playful wink, further increasing the blood rushing to his cheeks. Ultimately, he smiled stupidly and played along, allowing her arm to slip around his as he led her toward the event hall with the others, his heart skipping a mile a minute
The reception was unlike anything the class of UA had experienced before, simply following Yaoyorozu, Iida, and Todoroki since they had some level of knowledge of these parties. It was simple really, it was just a formal party where they would chat with one another and some of the VIPs, some of which took an interest in some of the students.
One, in particular, approached Yuki and Todoroki who were discussing something. He wore a pair of glasses over blue eyes, his black hair short and combed back. "Hello, there, you two wouldn't happen to be, Azuru, and Todoroki by chance?"
"We are, pleasure," Todoroki spoke for the two, shaking the man's offered hand as Yuki did the same with a small bow of her head. "And who might you be?"
The man smiled, "Ah, yes, I'm from overseas, my name is Howard Lock, I own a small institute dedicated to the innovation of technology outside of hero work, things like support items that can be manufactured for the general public, and all that big worded nonsense."
'You not a fan of formalities too?' Yuki mused with a note, the man's eyes widening at the rapid materialization of the note
"Hah, seems I've been caught out," He patted his chest. "You wouldn't believe the number of political hoops I've got to jump through, especially since I took an interest in you, Azuru," That quirked her brow
Slowly, she pieced it together, Todoroki noting how her posture shifted similar to how she stood facing down his deadbeat father. 'My Quirk, right?'
He nodded, "Exactly, your Quirk allows you to control and manipulate metal, converting the environment and yourself, outfitting your body with augments and the like, all very impressive stuff, I don't think there's been a Quirk in history quite like yours."
She knew where this was heading, thankfully, Todoroki stepped in. "Sorry, but Yuki isn't exactly interested in people prodding at her Quirk, it's something that belongs to her and her alone," His change in pitch wasn't lost on Howard, who just broke into a small chuckle, confusing the two. "That's funny to you?"
"No, not that, I have no interest in trying to replicate her Quirk, anyone with half as... well, common sense is enough to tell when there's a line never to be crossed, and I know a handful here that would love to try and prattle on about the 'good of mankind' involving your Quirk, but honestly, where's the fun in relying on the easy way out, eh?" He threw his arms down dismissively, fishing through one of his pockets.
"Miss Azuru," Yuki looked up at the man as he lowered himself to a knee to eye her directly. "The work you've done for Japan, as merely a hero-in-training, and as a person is truly commendable, and I only wish to see this world grow, so if helping one aspiring hero can help out the world too, heh, so be it," He held out a small device for the two to observe
It was about the same size as a USB, gunmetal grey with detailed, green lines etched into the metal, then it flashed in Yuki's eyes, her jaw ajar slightly. "This is the signal... or close to it that is,"
An augment | Very peculiar | An unfinished project
"Judging by your expression, I dare say you might have an idea what this is," He pulled it back slightly, sighing disappointingly to himself. "I had hopes this device could help to strengthen national security, a software capable of adapting to malware faster than any other of its kind, heck, the eggheads back home could turn the Pentagon into an information dreadnaught!"
He then took Yuki's hand, placing the small device in her palm. "It's alot to ask, but if you ever find a way to properly utilize this foolish man's dream, let me know," Procuring a card with his details on it.
Yuki's eyes glanced back at the device, then to Howard skeptically. 'This is your dream... and you want me to take it?' Despite the suddenness of the request it felt... wrong, like she was taking his dream, something Yuki has learned to treasure, even if it wasn't to her liking.
"There's no one left I know who could help me close the gap," Was his honest reply, running a hand over his head, almost tiredly from his blue orbs alone. "I have spent years trying to perfect it, when I heard of you well I felt as though my answer was so crystal clear, I felt like a child on Christmas day!" The scientist chuckled, patting her closed palm housing the device. "Please, keep it, and if it proves useful I'll be happy to hear it, no matter how long it takes, young lady." With that, he stood up and gave the two students a small bow. "Have a good night you both."
"That was unexpected," Todoroki looked to his friend, seeing her stare down at the device before slowly closing her fist around it safely. "You're going to take him up on his offer?"
'If it could improve the world's security, with my own little adjustments to keep certain, greedy politicians from abusing its power, then sure' She offered him a smile with her eyes closed. 'I'm going to be a hero, so if someone needs my help I'll do whatever I can to lend them a hand toward their dream'
It's very complex | However, most of its prime components are missing | This might prove to be quite the undertaking
While this went on, Todoroki's gaze caught a certain freckled boy approaching nervously. Both made eye contact while the girl on their minds stared at the device in her hand, more than likely communing with SIVA. Todoroki gave Izuku a small nod, slipping back toward the rest who watched how strange the two were acting.
"Hey, Todoroki, what's going on?" Yaomomo inquired so he glanced back at them, then nodding his head toward the two. Yaoyorozu gasped, covering her mouth with a sparkle in her eye. "Is it happening!?"
"No way, really?" Ochaco whispered, moving beside her while Kyoka joined them, noting Akio was looking elsewhere
"Dude, you're gonna miss this?" She jabbed her thumb toward Yuki but he smiled apologetically
"Sorry, Kyo, Viral's acting... well like an Old Man, duty calls, love," With a small salute he kicked back and fell into the shadows on the floor, zipping away before she could say anymore
"Wha...?" Much as that was completely out-of-character for the brunette she chalked it up to Akio's usual antics and focused back on the scene set before them
Over by Yuki, she spotted Izuku and strolled up to him, noting how rigid he was again. "H-hey Yuki, d-do mind if you - erm, we g-go somewhere f-for a second, j-just away from e-everyone?" He was sweating up a storm, anyone with good eyes could tell something was on his mind like a dagger to the back
Smiling, she offered her hand. 'Lead on, my dorky fanboy' He was a little thankful Yuki hadn't caught on, so, with a small celebration to himself after overcoming the first mountain, he prayed the next couple won't be such a hard climb otherwise he might just fall apart
"See? I thought this place would be a great view so I kinda memorized the route," Izuku answered bashfully, Yuki stepping forward into the secluded balcony that overlooked the small city and massive lake from above. With the moon rising in the night sky it only added to the sheer size and radiance of the body of water, and the sparkling lights and festivities through the buildings enhanced the scene further
'Only you'd ever think to memorize a place like this step-by-step' She teased, nudging his side while she leaned against the railing. 'It is a great view though, nice pick'
"Yeah..." His eyes were on Yuki when he thought of every word that would compliment the view. Blushing, he snapped his neck straight, blood running to his cheeks. "Stop staring at Yuki, don't mess this up, just take Todoroki's advice, you can do this!"
"You want to tell Yuki you love her?" Hearing it from Todoroki only made the pit in Izuku's stomach widen
"Yeah..." He sighed, this had to be said otherwise he'd go and screw things up. Kirishima was also present, himself keeping silent for the moment with his arms crossed
"I just... I almost lost my chance to even get remotely closer to her when she nearly... died," The bloodied image of her body torn apart and flung back through the air still haunted him. That alone nearly made all sense of restraint come undone, he would have died if it meant he could actually kill Kovik, he would have killed someone... "Sure, Yuki's okay but what if there's another villain or even Kovik? And Yuki doesn't get up the next time? What if I... sorry, I'm just piling my problems on you guys."
"Hey, no worries, Midoriya," A bump to his shoulder, and a smile from Kirishima brought his head up. "Look, you're a pretty strong guy, and Yuki could give any villain a run for their money, trust me, even if she gets knocked down we all know she can pick herself back up!"
"Kirishima raises a good point, don't doubt your own abilities, Midoriya," Todoroki sat forward on his chair. "That being said, while you've been overthinking this situation for hours, you forget that it's Yuki who likes you for you, coming up with some elaborate plan won't matter to her, she's completely infatuated with you."
"R-really?" Izuku knew she did care for him, that much she drilled into his head constantly, but 'infatuated' was another thing. Todoroki nodding, thinking back of his and Yuki's chat about her nearing demise. To their eyes, Todoroki procured two notes he had kept from the day, unfolding the copied down words before the pages could disintegrate
'You see why I'm scared to say? I want to, I want to be with him Shoto as more than a best friend... but if I don't survive I'd end up breaking his heart' Then the next one struck like a hammer to Izuku's soul. 'I want to live... I want to be a hero... I want him with me...'
He could only imagine what went through her head back then, as he worked to improve with One For All, Yuki was tearing herself apart about him. Once more he felt so ashamed for not realizing it sooner, just how many times would this happen before she eventually snapped at him?
"You want to tell her, but you're afraid she might not feel the same way," Todoroki announced, folding the notes again and handing them to Izuku. "That right there, even without my own knowledge or experience in romance, I know for a fact is a clear sign that she does care deeply for you if the only regret on her mind was of you."
"Yeah, she's totally in love with ya, man!" Kirishima summed it up quite nicely, and Izuku slowly felt himself agree
Something flicked his nose. 'So, you gonna keep staring off into space catching flies, or are you going to spill what's been bothering you?' Her note and mischievous grin threw him back into reality. 'You sure your Quirk isn't the ability to be jumpy all the time?'
"Right, yeah, of course! Ah, wait, I mean yes to your first note and no to the second, that would be weird and..." He stopped waving his hands about, giving her a deadpan stare. "You're messing with me?" She gave a mirthful look, wiggling her eyebrows
Slowing his breathing down he shook his head. "Sorry, I was just thinking about, well, um..."
She was leaning closer with a hum, brow quirked. Then Izuku blurted out with his eyes jammed shut. "I was thinking about you!" That retracted her head, blinking with surprise. Yuki's mouth opened and she immediately knitted her teeth, grasping her throat. "I got you!" He quickly kept her upright as she coughed, rubbing her neck
"Why did I try to talk again!?" She had to stop doing that, this wasn't the first time she's tried to and it really freaking hurt. It was all too perfect, the lightning, the backdrop, just the two of them, and no prying eyes. It felt right. 'That's on me, tried to speak and well, yeah, feels like someone pulled at my nerves'
"Oh, I see, sorry, I wanted to say something - b-but you go ahead!" He waved his hand, he was dodging the issue but hopefully, this would buy him some time.
He allowed her a moment of silence to start conjuring the words onto a page. Yet the words just... slowed, heck, she didn't even get through the first letter
'I...' Man, it is hard to word it. Like... super hard... Why... why of all the times did Yuki have to become inoperable?
She had no idea how to say it to him. It's seriously bugging her how those three simple words can create a statement that would be hard to utter once they were put together. Through the many strings of code and cognitive notions she's seen SIVA make, it was this her mind finally struggled with. Seriously... how the hell does one person go about to say this... Her tactile nature was falling to pieces once again.
As she was lost in thought, she shivered at a warm feeling in her right hand. When she looked down, she was surprised to see the freckled teen holding her hand in his in a reassuring manner. She looked back at him and that sweet, concerned expression plastered over his face.
"Is something... wrong, Yuki?" He asked, and she finally moved back a bit, squeezing her eyes shut
'I hate it, I really hate it, Izuku' He blinked as her words flew across the page. 'I hate having to create notes all the damn time to say anything. I hate being mute. I hate that even now when I really want to tell you something so important all I can do is have it all written down on some bland, emotionless scrap of paper!'
"Well..." Izuku considered her thoughts about this a moment. Seeing how distraught Yuki was always made him upset because he felt he failed her by not realizing it sooner, all that ignorant time left her emotions boiling to points like they are now. He couldn't imagine, unable to convey her feelings any other way. "I can feel it." "That doesn't - no, no I know it does, just say it to her!"
Her brow quirked, awaiting his reply to such a strange question. "On their own, your notes might not ever come across the way you like them too, I remember how hard it was to understand exactly how you felt when we first met, I really thought you hated me." He replied with a small chuckle
His hand squeezed tighter. "Then when I started to know you better, I realized that your notes weren't the only thing that helped convey your emotions, it was your expressive actions, the look in your eyes when they would become so animated," Izuku's goofy smile only grew. "Even now when you put your mask just to the side of your head I can still understand you, even without a single word, your cute smile, the way your eyes beam with excitement, how you tense up or slant your eyes smugly, everything about you is amazing enough on its own."
Her heart was on fire, it sounded stupid or weird to anyone else outside of them both, yet, Yuki got it, every word and every hint of kindness behind it. She couldn't even disprove how he felt because... it was all so genuine, so... Izuku. "You know... they do say actions speak louder than words..."
'Izuku... how can someone as nervous as you be so... damn sweet... to someone like me...'
"Wh-what do you- mmph?!"
Before Izuku could even ask another question, Yuki, with her face on fire and a trembling heart, had closed her eyes and pressed her lips against his gently, effectively taking his advice.
In her mind, she was quite frankly, surprised with what she'd done. Normally this is where she'd stop as her tactile nature went too far, but the bubbling feeling in her chest and sudden lift off her shoulders was too good to pass up. She kept her lips locked with his. During this time, she took the time to examine this kiss. His lips were soft, with a hint of what tasted like mint. It was great and she could feel herself floating on this high for a second longer.
But she immediately panicked when she realized that he hadn't budged at all since she pulled this stunt. Retracing her steps her body pull itself back, observing his reaction. Glass practically shattered. Her worst fears were pretty much confirmed. Izuku was looking right at her, with shock and disbelief in his eyes, his own face burning up. She couldn't tell if he liked it, but it was safe to assume that she had just taken a hammer to her bond with Izuku and tore it down.
She fucked up. Royally. Her mind was starting to fall into relapse, isolating herself mentally. Her very thoughts of turning back into a reclusive loner were starting to become tempting once more. Perhaps that would have been better, she might have saved her friendship that way. Now it was too late, in all of her years of mistakes, this one topped them all.
"I'm such a failure..." As she was about to turn around with an ashamed look across her face, the boy grabbed her by her shoulders. At this point, Yuki had no idea what to say so she just went with the bland, auto-response she actually had saved in SIVA's data bank. If she were to attempt to rectify her mistake, now might be her only shot.
There wasn't even any hint of emotion in the words slowly scrawling across the note, just bland, boring ink, 'I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinkin -' Her note was tossed away
Her eyes shot wide as he instigated another kiss with her, locking her muscles in place, "Mmph?!" Yuki squeaked internally at the sudden contact. What the hell was going on?! He was kissing her back?! Then her eyelids eased, he was kissing her back...
Yuki placed her left hand on his shoulder while she felt his other pull gently at the back of her nape, drawing her deeper into the kiss that she wholeheartedly closed her eyes for. For Izuku, he wasn't expecting Yuki to actually kiss her at all, even he felt so unsure about it all afternoon when he kissed her back though it felt... right. There wasn't some crazy feeling in his heart or head, sure, he felt any second he'd pass out from sheer embarrassment, and yet, it was warm, her hands, her lips, and how they tasted like raspberries, it was too much to pull away from now.
Soon, the boy pulled back. Both of them opened their eyes partially, a heavy breath between them as they stared back at one another. Taking the resolve he had and the initiative, Izuku forced out his words. "I-I didn't think I... y-you... we were..."
Yuki didn't give any visual reply other than to lean her head against his, staring back at him expectantly, her eyes were glistening and he could feel her breath tickle his lips. Slowly, Izuku leaned forward to peck her gently on the lips again, and boldly as her thoughts screamed.
"I want to say it... I really do, but," Yuki's brow quirked at his reluctance, then he smiled warmly. "But if you're okay with it, I-I'd like to wait, a-atleast until you can t-too, if y-y-you want-" He stopped himself as her body trembled with a silent laugh, her hand covering her mouth
'I'm okay with that, I'm just glad I wasn't the only one feeling this way, I mean, we did say we'd wait and I thought I actually messed up' Her words almost brought the mood down until Izuku pulled her hands back
"No! I-I mean, I did too, I was so nervous about it that I think I just kinda overthought it, a-again, sorry, my reaction probably didn't help, huh?" That alone, however, was what Yuki was happy to hear. She didn't know if he kissed her first how she'd have reacted, probably in a similar fashion
'We're both completely clueless, aren't we?' Her note finally broke down the last nervous bridge between them, the two laughing, or atleast one of them vocally. Turning around, Yuki pulled Izuku by the right hand, wrapping her arms around his back tightly
Locked in place, and even though the others were probably going to wonder where exactly they ran off to he didn't particularly care at the moment, reciprocating the embrace just as tightly. Spending a little longer like this was perfectly fine with him if Yuki wanted to, especially since he felt he'd lose all control over his legs if he tried to walk right now.
"I'm going to tell you, I know I will someday, I just hope you don't mind waiting a little longer," Yuki promised and hoped that someday those would be the first important words she's spoken in years
Eventually, the couple had to pull away and return to the event, suddenly, one of the doors shot open, revealing the group bar Akio were accounted for, all staring at them both, and their locked hands. Looking between themselves, then to their shellshocked friends, say for Todoroki, Kyoka, and Yaomomo, both sighed dejectedly.
'I think the proverbial cat is out of the bag, huh?' Nodding to Yuki's words Izuku knew this would happen, he just wished it hadn't been so sudden. With a cute wave and her arms hugging Izuku's, Yuki grinned. 'Yep, we're together, you hear that this adorable nerd is MY adorable nerd!'
"It's about time," Todoroki replied, offering them both a smile. "I'm glad to hear that you're both happy."
This then exploded in their faces, Izuku forever lost in the loop of what she just called him as they both congratulated and gushed over how cute they were. From what Kaminari said they actually were betting on them, which immediately drew an earth-shattered gawk from the two.
"YOU WERE BETTING ON US!?" 'YOU WERE BETTING ON US!?'
Yuki slapped her face, scorn written in her eyes for a moment as her face slowly turned pink alongside Izuku stuttering at how obvious they were. 'Why, why am I even surprised? Of course, you guys made a fucking pole!' Her hand then twisted the scruff of the blonde's collar. 'How long?'
"U-um, n-not long, honest!" He waved his hands defensively, but now Yuki's eyes were turning crimson
'How. Long. Kaminari?' Her words were literally on fire
"I'd answer the girl before she burns your eyes out, Jamming-Yay." Kyoka chuckled
"You shouldn't have done something so immature, you have no one to blame but yourself." Iida berated
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, please, you can have the money, I swear!" This made the pricing glow of her eyes revert in a heartbeat, dusting off his shirt with a sweet smile
'Thanks, Kaminari~!' He was just happy to be alive
Back in the event hall, as the Pros and VIPs enjoyed their night, All Might was called to say a few words upon arriving a little later than usual. With steady applause of encouragement, he chuckled, eyeing his best friend. "Really, Dave, could have warned me?"
Dave just grinned jokingly. "This was bound to happen once they found out you were in town,"
"You owe me one," Leaving his friend for the stage, All Might gave it some thought on what to say in the spur of the moment, this sorta stuff happened often enough for him to grow accustomed to speaking on the spot. With his trademark smile, he opened his mouth. "Thank you for inviting me, it's truly a pleasure to be here! Formal speeches aren't my thing-"
It all came crashing down.
The screen behind him turned white, the red warning signal corrupted by strange, white lines of code, unlike anything the spectators had seen before. The system went haywire, and soon an announcement blared across the whole island.
~THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT. WE HAVE RECEIVED WORD THAT AN EXPLOSIVE DEVICE HAS BEEN REPORTED SOMEWHERE ON THE I-EXPO GROUNDS. I-ISLAND WILL NOW BE IN HIGH-ALERT MODE. YOUR SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY-~
Inside the hall the message became overrun with static, a moment later the doors on all sides opened, revealing a dozen armed men, all quickly flanking into the crowds of people in a panic. The one who looked to be in charge cleared his throat.
"Let me make this very transparent," He wore black attire, a metal skeleton mask with red eyes. His sleeves were torn off, leaving only a pair of metal gauntlets with keypads and an assortment of electronic devices attached to the bracer and gloves. "You may refer to me as, Red Eye,"
He pressed down a key on his right arm, and ports lining the tiles on the floor appeared, dispensing blue binding to ensnare the heroes before any of them could so much as twitch in a way Red Eye didn't like.
