Chapter 39
Will's point of view
When we reached Louisa's home, she turned around in her seat and looked at me with such questioning prying blue eyes that I could help asking her,
"Is there anything you want to ask me?"
"There was something you wanted to tell me."
"You said that I had the right to know, " she went on; her blue eyes scorching into mine with profound intensity.
"What is it?" she asked me with those expressive twin pools of blue.
I paused and took my time. I changed my mind about telling her what I truly wanted. Perhaps, it was because the moment was ruined with her sister's phone call. The real reason was actually the fact that I did not want to scare her away . She might not feel the same way about me. I did not want to put her in any awkward situation. Besides, there was plenty of time for such heart to heart conversations.
"Forget it, " I responded with a wave of my hand.
"It is not important, " I added; my eyes twitching in a way that told her it was not necessary for her to know.
"I guess it is goodbye."
"Your sister is waiting for you, " I told her; gesturing towards her house.
"I hope you will pop into Pembroke soon, " she said; opening the door of my car and getting out.
She lowered her head and peeked through the window. She waved her right hand at me; bidding goodbye. I did the same before starting my car and heading for Pembroke Castle.
The drive to my house was about half a minute. I would have to set out for London tomorrow at about 12:00pm for work. The unresolved feelings would still remain between us like a huge barrier. Maybe, things were better this way than the possibility of compromising our budding friendship. There would be awkwardness if she did not reciprocate.
Life was a long ride. It would surely dissuade me into pouring my heart out to Louisa Clarke. The day that it happened was not too far away like I thought.
