Chapter 39 The Terror Within

Korra slowly woke up with a moan as she found herself in the arms of her husband making her smile before she buried her face into his chest before trying to fall asleep again.

"Morning." Sean mumbled holding her close making her smile before she pulled his head down and kissed him lovingly.

"Morning." Korra said before he started to kiss her more aggressively making her moan as she held his head before pulling back. "As much as I would like a second round I'm sure Junior is starting to miss us." Korra said making him chuckle before they got up and got dressed.

Soon the two left their room before looking for Asami and David.

Thats when they saw Bolin training with the Twins trying to use metal bending but couldn't.

"He must be really determined to know how to Metalbend." Korra said amused making Sean chuckle.

"Whats the Matter Bolin. I thought you wanted to be a metal bender? Or maybe...The reason you can't focus is because Opal is on your mind." Sean teased making him freeze before glaring at them making the two grin.

"You don't seriously have something for our sister do you?" Wei asked.

"Hey at least this time around his taste in women doesn't suck to the lowest degree." Sean said making him pale remembering Eska.

"What does that mean?" Wing asked.

"DON'T ASK!" Bolin yelled in fear making the married couple laugh.

"I will never understand what you saw in that devil of an Ex-Girlfriend of yours." Reznov said walking to them along with Julia.

"What are you guys doing here?" Korra asked.

"We came to make sure you're safe. Zaheer got into Airtemple island." Julia said shocking them.

"Wait what?" Sean asked.

"Don't worry everyone is fine. All he did was take some pendent and Tenzin's airstaff." Reznov said.

"Well, at least he doesn't know I'm here." Korra said before Asami, David and Mako walked to them with Asami holding Junior. "There you are." Korra said taking her son back who laughed.

"Still trying to practice Metal bending?" Mako asked his brother.

"Mako, Metal bending is extremely difficult. No one gets it right away, if they can get it at all! It's not normal." Bolin said before Korra started doing it with ease while grinning.

"You were saying?" Sean asked amused.

"Oh sure, she's the Avatar." Bolin said. (Thats hardly an Excuse)

"Guys. It's time to get cleaned up. Tonight's opal's farewell dinner." Asami said.

Bolin sighed in depression.

"Now I gotta say bye to Opal? This is the worst day ever." Bolin said.

Later

Everyone was at the dining hall as the Chef put down Opal's favorite food.

"Thanks for making my favorite meal." Opal said.

"I'm really going to miss you, Opal. No one appreciates my raw veggie wraps like you do." The Chef said.

"Every time I eat Raw Kale, I'm gonna think of you." Bolin said sadly.

"The heck is that thing?" Sean asked seeing some device in Varrick's hand.

"Watch and learn. I call it...A hologram!" Varrick said pressing a button before an undead Eska appeared in front of Bolin growling at him.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Bolin let out a rather unmanly scream.

"BAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sean and the others burst out laughing as he pounded the table. "You are so pathetic! WHAT Did you ever see in her!" Sean asked holding his sides as he laughed along with his wife and son.

"Varrick!" Bolin yelled.

"Whoops sorry. No idea how that got in there." Varrick said inspecting his device.

"And FYI there are already Holograms in the world." Sean said making him sulk someone beat him to it.

"Seriously Bolin at least this time you actually picked the right girl this time around." Korra said making Junior giggle while Bolin sulked.

"Hey you never said your cousin was evil." Bolin said.

"I thought it was obvious." Korra said.

"Zhu-Li! Bring the, uh, Thing!" Varrick said making her do just that. "Check out my latest invention. An Airbender finder." Varrick said.

"Wait, that can find airbenders?" Korra asked.

"Give me that!" David snatched it from him before aiming it at Korra then Opal and nothing happened. "What a shock it doesn't work." David said.

"I think it's broken." Asami said.

"It's not broken. They need to air-bend into it! How else do you expect it the thing to work!" Varrick asked snatching it.

"If I could have your attention, please. Tonight, my beautiful little girl leaves for the Northern air temple. Opal, none of us could be more proud of you. You're an incredible daughter, sister, friend, and soon-to-be Airbending master." Suyin said kissing her head.

The twins cried a little while her second oldest just rolled his eyes. (This guy pisses me off)

"Here's to Opal. May she help lead us into the new era." Suyin said.

Later

Korra smiled as she put Junior in his crib as he slept peacefully making her smile softly before kissing his head.

"I really feel bad for Bolin." Korra said as they got into bed.

"At leas this time he picked the RIGHT girl this time around. His thing with you was more of a crush." Sean said making her smile before kissing him.

"And I was already in love with you anyway." Korra said before they laid down and went to sleep.

Hours later

Sean slowly began to wake up seeing his wife with her back turned making him smile before he slowly got out of bed.

"Mmm. Where you going?" Korra asked half asleep.

"Just to the bathroom. Go back to sleep." Sean said as she laid back down before he left.

Sean sighed as he left the bathroom before suddenly a few darts hit his neck making him grunt as he suddenly fell down unable to move before his eyes looked up seeing Zaheer and his group.

"Guess Reznov was right. They do all have marks." Zaheer said seeing the scars before Ghazan picked him up.

"Jeez this guy weighs like a lot." Ghazan said as they bolted outside.

However before they even got away from the estate they were confronted by Lizzie who croaked.

"What the hell is that?" Ghazan asked.

"I think thats a crocodile." P'li said as Lizzie croaked again before showing her teeth making Ming-Hua snort.

"Is that the best he has? A little reptile?" Ming-Hua asked amused.

Thats when Lizzie started growing making their eyes widen as she was in her full form snarling at them.

"Oh." Ghazan said.

"I think this is his pet." P'li said.

"I don't doubt it." Zaheer said before Lizzie roared loudly waking everyone up.

"WHOA!" Korra yelled as Junior started to cry before she rushed to him and picked him up before Asami rushed in.

"That was Lizzie." Asami said before Korra handed Junior to her.

"Keep an eye on him." Korra said rushing off.

Ghazan jumped out the way as Lizzie tried to smash him before roaring loudly into the air as the others rushed out.

"AW FUCKING HELL MAN!" Joseph roared before having his body turn to stone before trying to hit Zaheer who was quick to dodge before Hitomi used airbending on him sending him into a wall making him grunt.

"Other Avatars." Zaheer said.

"No shit!" Kalder yelled as storm clouds emerged above them before trying to strike the intruders but they dodged.

Ghazen growled as he tried to get Lizzie away from him but suddenly got airbended into a wall by Korra.

"Get away from him!" Korra yelled as she rushed to her husband. "I thought you guys were after me?" Korra questioned.

"No...We were after Altair and were gonna use you as bait 15 years ago. But since he's dead we're now after his son." Ghazan said shocking her.

Thats when a large wave of purple lightning nearly struck P'li making her turn and saw Noah who's eyes were glowing purple before trying to blast her.

"No one said anything about so many other Avatars here." P'li said.

"This was supposed to be a quick in and out mission." Zaheer said as Takina launched a barrage of metal spears at them but they dodged before Fiore tried to blast them with light.

Sean groaned as he tried to move but couldn't.

"Whats wrong?" Korra asked.

"Can't...Move...Drugged." Sean said.

Lizzie roared as she charged at Zaheer before smacking her tail at him but he dodged before she tried to chomp him down.

Hitomi then used airbending on him before they exchanged blows to one another.

"The Avatar of Air. Of all Avatars right now you're one of the few I respect the most next to Kruger." Zaheer said.

"And yet you're trying to kill him." Hitomi said as she summoned a ball of air around her before she rolled to him but he dodged.

Sean growled as he closed his eyes before his body was engulfed white flames as he tried to purge the drug from his body.

"Oh no you don't!" Zaheer yelled airbending at him launching him into a tree making Sean growl as he lost concentration.

"There they are!" Woods yelled as he and the others arrived before shooting at them.

"All right thats it! We're out of here!" Zaheer said as he and Ghazan created a smokescreen before they vanished.

"Well, Shit." Hudson said.

Later

"Take it easy." Korra said to her husband as he was on his back on a couch before Aiwei gave him something to drink.

"This should neutralize the Shirashu toxins." Aiwei said as Sean Drank it before his fingers started moving.

"The hell was that? What happened to this being one of the most secure cities?" Woods asked.

"I don't know how they got in. Clearly this whole thing was well planned out." Suyin said.

"Enough." Sean said sitting up and his wife held him.

"How did they get in and avoid detection?" Hudson asked.

"I'm thinking one of the Guards. Theres no other way they got in." Adler said.

"Then round them up. Question all of them." Hudson said.

Later

Sean and the others were interrogating the guards to see if any of them had anything to do with what happened last night.

So far no one was found Guilty due to Aiwei's truth seeking abilities.

The next one however.

"What was I doing last night?" Varrick asked. "Same thing I always do. From 9 to 10, I check my body for ticks. Lyme disease is a serious killer." Varrick said as everyone was annoyed especially Sean and Mako. "Then I did my nightly Varri-calisthenics followed by 30 minutes of breath holding. I filmed the whole thing if you want to watch it." Varrick said before yelping as Sean nearly shot him.

"Did you or did you not sell out My location for money. You tried to start a bigger war in the South to make money like the greedy scumbag you are." Sean said glaring at him. (how he hasn't died yet is a mystery to me)

"Easy Sean calm down." Korra said calming her husband down.

"No I didn't I swear on my honor." Varrick said.

"He's not lying." Aiwei said as he and Zhu-Li left.

The next guard arrived. He was at least a year younger than Korra was.

"Give me your name and tell me where you are from." Aiwei said.

"I'm Hong Li. I was born and raised here in Zaofu." Li said.

"Do you have any knowledge of the people who attempted to kidnap Avatar Kruger?" Aiwei said.

"No." Li said making him frown leaning forward.

"Did you help the attackers enter Zaofu last night?" Aiwei asked.

"No, of course not." Li said making him narrow his eyes.

"You're lying." Aiwei said shocking him.

"What? No, I'm not!" Li yelled before Sean dashed at him pinning him to the wall before his claws stabbed him in the side making him yell in pain.

"How did they get in and out! I want answers!" Sean yelled.

"I don't know! I'm telling you, I didn't help them." Li yelled in pain.

"You're a traitor to the entire clan." Suyin said before Sean knocked him out.

"I suggest we search his place." Aiwei said.

When they arrived they searched the place while Bolin was in the kitchen.

"I got something." Mako said finding a note.

"What?" Bolin asked with cookies in his mouth. (Really?)

"It looks like it's from them. Team Assembled. Ready to rendezvous." Mako said.

"And look at this." Hudson said with a book in hand before Aiwei read it.

"These are the Guards log books. All their schedules and routes are in here." Aiwei said.

"That guard knows everything. We have to get him to talk." Korra said.

"Oh believe me I will." Woods said about to head out.

"No. Let's give him time to sweat it out." Aiwei said leaving.

Later

"Yikes." Asami said seeing all the devastation The other avatars did last night.

"Just imagine what would have happened if all of us were here." Sean said making her shudder at the thought.

"I don't understand why we're not talking to the guard right now. Every minute we waste here, those guys get further away. I mean, how does a random guard get involved with a group of super criminals, anyway?" Mako asked.

"Hmm?" Sean said.

"That guard is only 18 years old, and has lived in Zaofu his entire life. Zaheer and his gang have been in prison for 15 years." Mako said

"Well...He could be part of a larger group and Zaheer and his group were the leaders. Maybe he was recruited years ago." Sean said.

"We all saw the evidence. It's pretty overwhelming." Korra said holding Sean close before Varrick appeared.

"Maybe a little too overwhelming." Varrick said.

"Hey, Varrick. What are you doing here?" Bolin asked.

"Collecting pumice stones with Zhu-Li. That battle last night did a lot of damage. But it made some nice exfoliating rocks. And when you got calluses like mine, You take all the pumice stones you can get your hands on. Or in my case...Feet!" Varrick said as Zhu li rubbed them on his feet.

This made the group groan in disgust.

"You are disgusting." Sean said with his eyes twitching. (Oh I feel sorry for Zhu li)

"What were you saying about the evidence?" Mako asked changing the subject.

"I was saying that I can smell a conspiracy when I see one. Look, if I was trying to set someone up, I would tell everyone he's guilty, and then plant the evidence in his apartment as proof." Varrick said.

"Oh. You mean like you did to Mako?" David asked glaring at him.

"Yes! Just like that. Remember how great that worked?" Varrick asked.

"Wait a minute." Sean said gaining their attention. "Varrick may have a point. The evidence is overwhelming. But Aiwei is the only truth seer we know in this city." Sean said.

"What are you saying?" Korra asked.

"What if he's the one who let Zaheer and his group in and used this kid as a fall guy?" Sean asked.

"You think he set him up?" Asami asked.

"Well, think about it. Suyin said he's a truth seer which makes it difficult not to believe him. But that also makes him less of a suspect if he's lying about something like this." Sean said making Korra frown.

"We need proof though." Korra said.

The group headed for Aiwei's house before they walked in.

"Lets hurry this up." Sean said as they searched the house.

"Sean?" Korra said making him walk to her before they noticed scoff marks on the floor. "Theres only one reason those would be here." Korra said before Sean pulled the shelf back.

A secret entrance was revealed making Sean frown.

"I think we found out how they got in." Sean said.

"Aiwei's coming back." Asami said as Sean closed it before he entered.

"We need to talk about the guard." Sean said making him raise an eyebrow.

Offering them some tea he walked to the shelf.

"So, What exactly is not adding up?" Aiwei asked.

"Don't you think it's weird how young he is? How did he ever get mixed up with this group?" Mako asked.

"Perhaps through a relative. Or maybe he was bribed. We will find out those answers in time." Aiwei said while Sean narrowed his eyes before looking at his brother who nods. "But if it wasn't him, who do you think it was?" Aiwei asked.

"We're just looking for answers." Korra said.

"And you think you found them don't you?" Aiwei asked seeing the door was slightly open to the secret entrance making them tense. "You have no idea what is coming for you, Avatar Kruger." Aiwei said before Sean threw his star Saber but he metal bended a wall up making it pierce the wall before Sean grabbed it and it glowed before it made the metal rust apart before Sean rushed down before opening the door and found a bomb.

"Oh shit." Sean said before his sword glowed as it went off.

Korra opened her eyes seeing Sean's Star Saber contained most of the blast.

"You seriously need a manual for that thing." Mako said.

"What happened? We heard an explosion." Lin said rushing in with Suyin.

"Where is Aiwei?" Suyin asked.

"Your damn truth seeker is the mole who sold out me out. He was lying about the guard." Sean said shocking her.

"I...I Don't believe this." Suyin said in shock.

Later

"He had an escape plan all ready to go." Hudson said.

"I trusted him with my life. It was all a lie." Suyin said.

"I'm going after them. Me, Mako, Asami and Bolin will go and find them while everyone else stays behind. They could still be after Korra and Junior." Sean said.

"Sean? Are you sure about this?" Korra asked.

"Zaheer came directly after me for a reason. That other guy Ghazan I believe said they were gonna use you as bait to get my father here. They were after him for a reason and now they're after me. You'll be safer here with this much added security. Plus the rest of the Task Force is on the way." Sean said making her sigh as she held Junior who snored lightly.

"Be careful." Korra said holding him close.

Korra soon saw Sean on Naga ride off with the others in a jeep before she sighed looking at Junior who was asleep.

"Come back soon." Korra said.

"I thought you had more faith in my son."

Korra widened her eyes before turning around seeing Altair.

"Altair?" Korra asked surprised making him chuckle.

"It's been a while." Altair said approaching her before looking at his grandson who snored making him smile. "My wife would have spoiled him rotten if she was still alive." Altair said making her smile.

"I'll bet. I'm just...Really worried about him." Korra said.

"That is understandable. But remember we must always have faith in those we love. It's all they need." Altair said making her smile.

"Thanks." Korra said as he vanished.

Authors Note: And with that we chase Aiwei and soon we will learn why Zaheer is after Sean and why they tried to use Korra to lure his father out. To Sora I never said you couldn't be negative I said keep it to a low. Just choose your words carefully.
