Leo POV- Leo could barely focus with Rachel so close to him though she wasn't his Rachel, not really. She kept avoiding his eyes and Leo was dying to know why. When Alex went to talk with General Schott Leo couldn't wait any longer. He walked toward Rachel gently touching her hand even though he saw the sparks flying off it. Just like it used to do with his Rachel she calmed down quickly and pulled her power back.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Leo asked softly.
"Please" he added when she appeared to be about to make an excuse.
"Sure" Rachel answered.
Leo led her away to a private quarter. Ray watched them go and he nodded when Leo looked back at him. Leo sat across from Rachel on a cot and they both just looked at each other.
"Did my Earth-1 doppelganger hurt you? Is that why you don't like me?" Leo finally made a guess.
"What? No Lenny…" Rachel rushed to assure but stopped and sighed.
"I haven't heard that nickname in over a year" Leo smiled to himself.
"I don't not like you I…avoided you because seeing you alive like this hurts a bit. My Leonard Snart died over a year ago. I haven't finished healing yet" Rachel explained.
"I'm so sorry" Leo said taking her hand.
"Leo what is my doppelganger like here?" Rachel asked looking down at their hands and smiled.
"She… was unique" Leo said slowly.
"Leo please tell me."
"She was one of the Fuehrer's Generals, his Vengeance, his own personal assassin and sometimes a literal bomb. They would give her dozens of captives to drain then they'd send her into an area and depending on her energy level she could destroy a building or a town with energy. She was a weapon and she loved it" Leo explained.
"I was one of the captives they were going to…feed to her for energy. She went to touch me but stopped just looking in my eyes. I told her it was okay and to do it but she didn't. She asked why I wasn't scared and I told her I was but I also couldn't help not fear death from one of the most beautiful women I'd ever laid eyes on. I'd never seen her face before that day. I reached up and touched her hair and cheek" Leo went on as he did the same to Rachel in front of him.
"After she let me go we began seeing each other secretly and after a while she started working on the inside for us. One day a bunch of Freedom Fights were captured and were going to be executed. She promised she'd get them out but it was a trap for her. The Fuehrer suspected something wrong. I went with her as backup on the rescue. We got all the captives out but as we were leaving I watched hidden as she was going to check on the soldiers as was usual of her when an arrow pierced her through the back right in the heart shot by the Fuehrer. She was looking at me as she died…" Leo trailed off his eyes tearing up.
"I'm sorry Leo" Rachel said squeezing his hand.
"What…what about my doppelganger…unless you'll end up like me don't want you to cry" Leo said gently.
"It will but it's okay I can still talk about him" Rachel smiled.
"Leonard Snart, my Captain Cold, hmm what to say. He was a great thief that stole my heart but he was a better Legend. The Flash, Barry, made a deal with Leonard but Leonard said it had more to do with me, that he would not kill people during his heists. Rip Hunter asked me to recruit him for his team of Legends to stop a world dictator from gaining power" Rachel said slowly.
"We found out the organization we'd been trying to prove that this guy was evil was actually working with him. To stop them we decided to blow up the device they were using to control the flow of time. Only to blow it up someone had to stay behind to do it. He didn't trust my shield to hold up and had Sara knock me out. I woke up just as it blew. He went from thief to Legend to hero" Rachel explained touching the ring around her neck.
Leo noticed the ring and smiled it was the same ring he was about to give his Rachel before she died. They held hands both silent as they worked over their pain together. So alike and so different his Rachel was the bad guy while he was good but her Leonard was a criminal and she was the hero.
Looking into her eyes Leo couldn't stop the emotions that resurfaced in his heart. He loved Ray, who without he'd of given in to his inner darkness after her death, but Rachel was his true love and here she was alive again.
"We should go see if Alex could change Wi… General Schott's mind" Rachel said smiling softly.
"I swear I'm gonna do all I can to get you home" Leo promised.
Rachel reached up and stroked his cheek as she smiled. So close to what he'd dreamed of but he wasn't that guy. He couldn't hurt Ray. Rachel seemed to see that in his eyes so she simply kissed his cheek and went to rejoin her friends. Leo went to find Ray hoping together they could convince General Schott to give them time to get everyone back home.
"Ray please let's talk to him" Leo begged after Ray shot his plan down.
"Look you said to let Alex try. I let her try, she didn't succeed" Ray replied.
"So that's that? We just let these poor strangely dressed individuals lose their one way home?" Leo asked.
"Look it's what Winn ordered and I am not in the habit of defying Generals on any Earth" Ray replied.
"And what about your family back on Earth-1?" Leo changed tactics.
"What about them?"
"You'd be giving up any chance of ever seeing them again."
"Leo why are you pushing this?"
"Pardon?"
"We have fought and bled and sacrificed for this war. And then these strangers show up and you're willing to throw everything away from them?... For her? The fate of the world is at stake" Ray argued.
"Yes for her BUT not in the way you think. I promised her I'd do everything I could to get them home. The lives of their loved ones are also at stake" Leo answered.
"Come on" Ray said not believing him.
"Tease me all you want for being sentimental. These heroes would risk everything for the people they love just like I would…for you" Leo said before he kissed Ray.
"You know I can't say no when you look at me like that" Ray said when they both pulled away.
"That is why I look at you like that" Leo replied.
Rachel POV- Everyone was tense and antsy. Alex failed to make Winn give them time to get back home. That didn't mean they weren't all going to try anyway without his permission. Leo and Ray walked towards them looking dressed for battle.
"We talked to the General and after a lot of arguing he agreed so…" Ray said.
"We're gonna help you out" Leo finished.
'Thank you' Rachel mouthed to Leo with a smile that he returned.
"Now you referenced 100 guards. I assume most of them are around the perimeter?" Oliver asked looking down at their model of the facility.
"Correct" Leo answered.
"All right we fight through them outside. We access the main corridor. What is security like inside the hangar?" Oliver asked.
"I'll do some recon" Barry said taking off making Oliver roll his eyes and then Barry was back.
"So the entire facility has meta-human dampeners" Barry answered Oliver's question.
"Okay we can't take that hangar with no powers man" Jax said.
"These satellites indicate a control room off the hangar. That must be where the dampener is" Martin said.
"Okay well we definitely can't take the main control room with no powers. It's not like we blend in here" Jax said.
"Well one of us does" Rachel said looking at Oliver who nodded.
"I think I know how to get in" Oliver said.
Leo POV- The teams got into place and into the appropriate outfits. Leo drove the vehicle to the gate of the facility. He stayed relaxed as one of the guards came toward his driver side window.
"Your papers Sturmmann" the guard said.
"We don't have papers. This is a special visit" Leo answered.
"Your papers now" the guard said raising his gun.
"Suit yourself but uh I think you better talk to our boss" Leo nodded toward the back seat.
"As you were" Oliver said imitating the Fuehrer as he rolled the window down.
"Mein gott. My apologies sir. Let them through! Thank you mein Fuehrer" the guard said as the gates opened.
Oliver went in alone while the others planted bombs and waited for the all clear. Minutes passed with no sign. They hoped no sign early was a good sign.
"Clear" Oliver said on coms.
"We've sent the weapon" Winn told Ray and Leo only on coms.
"What do you mean? Call it back!" Leo ordered uselessly.
"Too late. It's been programmed. There's no changing course now" Winn answered.
"You said we'd have an hour" Leo argued.
"Yeah well I changed my mind."
"The Team hasn't gone through the breach yet."
"That Team has nothing to do with us or saving our planet! And everyone who can threaten it is on the other side of that breach. They are not coming back through!"
"General!"
"Leo enough! I'm not risking any more time. We are blowing it up" Winn ended his order.
"Guys we have a problem" Leo informed the Team.
"What kind of problem?" Sara asked.
"A weapon is heading to blow up the facility."
"A weapon? You mean a missile?" Alex asked.
"Not exactly" Leo answered.
"In ten minutes Red Tornado's gonna bring down this entire facility and there's nothing we can do to stop that robot" Leo told Oliver and Barry when he entered the control room.
"Then we need to reopen the gateway before that happens. Barry, Ray…" Oliver said.
"We know. Stop a flying robot somehow" Barry answered.
"Good. The rest of us will open the breach" Oliver said.
"That…the whole plan?" Leo asked.
"Well as a Snart we know used to say 'make the plan execute the plan expect the plan to go off the rails throw away the plan'" Barry mimicked.
"Wow. That is…that is terrible advice. I always have a plan down to the second so nothing ever goes wrong" Leo said.
"No, no, no the only plan now" Ray said kissing Leo to calm him down.
"Is not to leave this Earth without me" Ray finished with another kiss.
"Okay" Leo grinned easily.
"Right. Ready for Tornado watch" Ray told Barry.
"Let's do it" Barry said running them both away.
"I'd thought it'd be fun if we put on our costumes" Leo said opening the bag he'd brought into the room.
"Where'd you get the bow and quiver?" Oliver asked picking them up.
"The General collects weapons" Leo answered.
"I am a weapon" Rachel grinned from the doorway energy pulsing over her hands and arms.
"Let's go to war" Oliver said.
Firestorm blew the doors open for them and took to the skies. Everyone rushed in guns blazing, arrows flying, ice beams freezing and energy paralyzing. They split up and Sara went with Alex, Oliver went on his own and Leo wouldn't leave Rachel's side.
He blasted anyone who got too close but she caught the one coming up behind him and she drained him. The energy currents pulsed up her arms and over her shoulders. She was beautiful. Firestorm split up to take care of getting the gateway ready for them. Jax took the power box and Martin had to get to the switch.
Jax managed to bring back the power but he was then pinned down by a truck with a gun in the back that was circling him. Rachel and Leo made their way over to Oliver. Rachel wanted to help Jax but the Nazis had another large gun in a different truck that pinned Oliver down.
"Well that's not very fair" Leo said looking at the gun.
"I'm pinned down!" Jax said.
"No" Rachel said softly.
Leo looked to see Rachel getting up with her shield in place around her. She began to run toward Martin who was running for the switch. Leo knew she'd be too late but he knew she had to try. Martin had been the only one not pinned down but his move was suicidal.
He was shot once in the back and slowly he crumpled to the ground. Rachel snapped the neck of the Nazi who'd shot him and covered them both with her shield so she could try to save him.
"Grey! No!" Jax yelled.
If the wound was as severe as Leo thought it was Rachel would quickly be out of power trying to heal it. He needed to get over to her so she would be able to recharge but he was still pinned down.
He saw her shield getting smaller and Nazis were swarming towards her. The wound was fatal and if Rachel didn't stop it would kill them both.
