-Chapter 39-

-Sugar pov-

Today has been given to us. The us being Samantha, Grace, Fran, Jasmine, Pamela, and me. Honestly I'm kinda feeling mixed emotions on it. I mean we've been doing good and have been happy. On the other side they have acknowledged we get less focus.

It's never fun to hear that from your parents. But unlike other parents they try to fix their mistakes. So now we have a day to us. Honestly Sam, Pam, and I have given it to the three.

Fran picked a movie, Grace chose the mall, and Jasmine chose central park. The moms asked us but we just said those were fine. Now we are on the way to the theater.

"I can't wait!" Fran squirms in her seat with a smile on her face "Ralph is what I've been wanting to see!"

"SAME!" Grace squeals and I cover my ears "Sorry"

"You're fine" I look out the window "We almost there?"

"We are getting closer" I sigh and keep looking out the window "You doing ok?"

"Yeah" I look at a girl playing catch with her dad while the mom laughs "I'm fine..just didn't get a lot of sleep last night"

I feel a pair of eyes on me but the conversation stops. It's a silent ride for me as I tune the van out. It's not me trying to be rude. It's me just focusing on not letting the tears fall.

"So this is where we start!" I turn and see the girls with my fiancés "Are we ready to build?"

I'm met with Rachel falling backwards, Lucy chewing on a toy hammer, Santana blowing bubbles, Beth giggling, Abby attacking a flower, and Brittany spinning.

"I think our crew is out of it" Janine looks at me with a smile "We can do it though!"

"Yeah" Rose picks up a hammer "We got this!"

I smile and nod before looking at the space. This should be good. We are capable women! We could do this in our sleep!

What's the worst that could happen?

-Time skip-

"So it's not broken but fractured?" James nods and I look at Rachel "I'm so sorry baby girl"

"What about the other one?" Santana holds up her casted arm and Janine turns to him "Is this broken?"

"Afraid so" James sighs "How did they get up so high? Weren't they in dependent little mode?"

"Well" I go to defend us but sigh "We are trying to build our house but it's not going well"

"I know a contractor" James rolls and writes something on a paper before rolling back to us "He can look at it and talk with you all"

"Well if I wanted a contractor and people building it I'd have called our ex husbands" I sigh and take the paper "I'll keep him in mind"

"James?" We turn toward the door to see a nurse "We have the others from this family..one has been treated already by Paul"

I give a confused look to him "Paul is a friend of mine who I appointed in" He stands up "He's trustworthy"

"Good" Then it clicks and I turn toward the nurse "OTHERS?!"

She nods and the door opens. Rose wheels in Brittany while holding Beth. I slump my shoulders down and groan. It's worse when they are followed in by Lucy with a cast and Debbie behind her holding Abby.

"At least it's not four kids" I glare at rose who backs up "Sorry"

"First time watching them alone while doing stuff huh?" We nod and James smiles "You all thought the others weren't being serious about them didn't you?"

"Yeah" I look at the girls and then him "I can see know we underestimated the girls"

"They've been here five times" James stands up "Two of those are Brittany"

"They are rowdy" Debbie sighs "I guess we have some apologies to give out Huh?"

"Yeah" I look at the number and then Janine "We have two men to call and get out on flights"

"I think that's smart thinking" James smiles "Why don't we get everyone signed out and on our way?"

I nod and we get everyone moving. I'm really not wanting to face them later.

The movies been done and the mall wasn't that bad. Now we are at Central Park. It's a nice day out honestly. But I'm just watching the kids play with their parents.

They all look so happy. I know Pam and Sam are looking too. This is the stuff we missed out on. Our parents were more money oriented.

They never cared about what we wanted. We were just money drains. That made it even worse on us though. We cost them money so they despised us every day.

"Alright" Judy walks over to us holding a softball "Let's play"

"Where did you get that?" Judy smiles and I turn away "It's not our day"

"It is your day" Madison waddles over "You all gave the girls an amazing day! But what did you get? You all have given up so much to help us! You feed, change, and watch when we can't!"

"So I bought a softball set" Judy tosses the ball to Pamela lightly "So we are going to grab the mitts and toss in the open area"

I look at the girls and share a smile "Really?" Judy nods "Alright!"

We get up and race to the mitts. I pick out a blue one and follow to the open space. Everyone chuckles as we spread out. Judy comes over and holds her mitt open.

"Alright!" Judy gets ready "Throw it to me!"

"Ok!" Pamela throws it but it lands a bit away "Man...I'm just no good"

"You never got taught" Judy smiles "Watch me and learn ok?"

Pamela nods and smile again "Sam knows" Judy nods seeming to understand "Why not try her this time?"

"That sounds good!" Judy turns toward Samantha "You ready Sam?"

"Yeah!" Sam gets her glove open "Throw it to me!"

Judy does and Sam catches it. Sam smiles and tosses it back. Judy tries a throw to me but I flinch. Definitely going to have to get used to it.

But this honestly is what I needed. I pick up the ball and through it to Judy better than Pam did. I give her a smirk and she glares. I'm finally playing a parent and child game.

My life isn't so bad after all!

-Time skip-Mary pov-

"Alright" I look at the banged up girls playing the best they can "We have a hour to come up with a story!"

"Uh gir~"

"We can tell the truth" Janine stops feeding Beth and pats her back "It's the best thing"

"We do need apologize too" Debbie bounces Abby on her lap "I think we tell the truth"

"Uh gir~"

"Hang on rose" I hear a throat clear and turn to see everyone "Uhhhhhhh"

"So" Shelby walks over to the girls "What's the truth?"

"We were trying to build our house and forgot about them" I glare at Janine who gives me one back "Santana has a broken arm, Rachel has a fractured wrist, Lucy has a ankle fracture, and Brittany has a broken leg"

I look back at Shelby who's looking at me "You we're gonna lie?" I nod and she frowns "Why?"

"When they got sick we were able to prove we knew better and more!" I sigh and look at the girls "But us alone with them...we couldn't work and focus on them and trying to build"

"That's why we take turns" Judy walks over and puts a hand on my shoulder "We take turns getting work done and taking care of them"

"We also get help from the girls" I look back at Sugar, Pamela, and Samantha "They are the ones that help us a lot"

"I'm so sorry" I look back at Shelby with tears in my eyes "I'm sorry if I ever made you feel like a worthless mom!"

"Come here" She opens her arms and I run over then hug her "I love you mom! You have never truly made me feel like that horrible of a parent"

"Way to soothe the ego" We both chuckle as we break apart "I called your dad and James...yeah that's odd! Anyways! I called them and they are going to get on a flight here to build the house"

"Sounds good" Shelby takes a deep breath and turns toward the girls "In the meantime let's figure this all out"

I nod and the rest of the night goes well. We talk about our days and I can see the girls are all happy. It's been a while since I've seen Sugar smile like she is. I hope it's stays for a long while.

Next issue is what happens when Donald and James gets here.
