Chapter 39
Castiel stood there, at the headstone. No tears were rolling down his cheeks. He was still. Almost in a trance. He was so still as he stared at the names on the piece of rock he had put there so long ago.
"Dean, Sam, Please, please, I need you. Tell me what to do."
He stood there waiting, wanting to hear their voices even if it was only in his own head. He knew what he did to Meg was wrong. Demon or not she did not deserve it.
"I... I raped her, Meg."
He lowered his head in shame.
"I have become an abomination." Castiel whispered.
Castiel could feel the air around him shift, as though the wind was blowing but it was shimmering. When it stopped, he stepped back. Not out of fear but from surprise. Standing in front of him was none other than Dean Winchester.
"Dean" Castiel Gasped
"Bingo" Dean said.
"There is only one reason I would come down here and that reason is you." Dean looked at him with concern.
"I have always come when you called." Dean said with a smirk.
Castiel started laughing. "I never saw you but, I could almost feel your presents."
Dean sighed. "Tell me what brought me here Cas."
And so Castiel told Dean everything. From the anguished cry that turned him into something he would hunt to what he had just done to Meg. And still no tears came.
"I am empty inside." Castiel said.
"Maybe I belong in the Empty after all." Castiel finished.
Dean looked at Castiel and started walking around him taking in all the changes. Once behind Castiel he looked up at Meg's approach raising his hand for her to stop once she was close enough to hear what they would be saying.
Dean continued his observation of Castiel.
Once back in front of him he whistled and said.
"Cas you look so Badass."
'DEAN, I DID A BAD THING." Castiel yelled.
"unforgivable." He finished.
"Maybe. But you do not deserve the Empty for it." Dean said looking at Castiel.
"She may beat you within an inch of your angelic life but, Meg will forgive you. She loves you." Dean finished.
The silence afterward was deafening.
Dean Looked at Castiel and spoke.
"Cas just ask her to forgive you. I know she will." His eyes glanced behind Castiel to look at Meg.
Meg had walked up by this time and took Castiel's hand.
Castiel looked down at her and for the first time in his angelic life he cried. His words, barely audible thru his tears.
"Meg I am so very sorry. Please, please forgive me."
She took his face in her hands and pulled him down to her. She stared at him for a moment and then whispered.
"I will always forgive you My Angel, My Castiel, My Clarence."
She kissed him gently as he cried.
"Cry for all your losses Clarence." she whispered.
He did that as they stood there, her holding him.
As he cried, he changed in appearance.
His wing went to the Raven black that she loved, his temples darkened, and his eyes were the topaz blue she always got lost in.
"OK, OK. NO MORE CHICK FLICK SHIT" Dean said rather loudly.
"There are some things you should know, and I need to get back to Sam. Oh yea. He said look in the library, last row, bottom shelf. He had hoped to be around when it happened, but he got you that as a gift when the time came. So Yeah."
"And Castiel you are an Angel of..." Dean stopped and smiled.
"You are the Patron Saint of Hunters." Dean smiled please with himself.
"There are new Monsters coming. What you and the other hunters kill have learned to get along, even breed new species of monsters. You need to be ready."
Dean looked up to the Heavens. With a heavy sigh he looked at Castiel still holding Meg.
"My time is almost up, and Moose is calling me back. Just know this. You were put on this world to protect it. No more talk about a cage, the deep rest or the Empty. You are needed here. And when you finish with a hunt don't forget to come and tell me and Sammy about it. We enjoy hearing from you."
Dean thought a moment.
"We love you Cas. We...I will always be part of you."
The others had walked up behind Meg and Castiel. They heard the warning Dean gave about the monsters. But at this moment they didn't care. In their own ways they had missed the Winchesters.
Dean turned to Ben.
"Ben, I know Cas gave you, MY Baby. Take care of her. I want to Hear her from Heaven." Dean warned with a warm smile. Ben nodded smiling back.
Dean started fading.
"We miss you guys. We'll be seeing you but, not too soon, ok." And he was gone.
