Chapter 39th

Shannon was moving into the MRI with her ears covered due to the noise for the next 25 minutes to have the imagery of her breast cancer shown. They needed to know whether or not cancer had spread since she was away on vacation.

She had closed her eyes to try and block the noise out of her head. While the technician was taking a look on the screen with the doctors watching as well.

"Taking a look at that Doctors." Doctor Rolaids had to say to show that cancer seems to be decreasing slightly. "It seems that the program is going to be working really well on our patient."

"I will agree with you." Doctor Suzanne Richardson had to say on the subject. They had asked the technician to take two more shots before removing her from the device.

He came over to her to help her down and into the wheelchair to be taken back to her room finally and something to eat. She was starving and didn't get the chance to have breakfast.

The doctors came over to her to say that she was a candidate for the program and will begin tomorrow early in the morning.

"Thank you, doctors, for all of your help. I am just tired of living with this cancer to be ruining my life and marriage." she cried out.

"But for now that the tests are done. You're able to relax and of course, have breakfast. While I will be calling down to the kitchen to have your tray brought up to your room." Doctor Rolaids had to say.

Sometime later back in her room for which was a private one.

She was eating her eggs, french toast, toast, coffee, and orange juice along with the endless cups of water. She had the TV turned on with help from her husband Alex currently downstairs in the Cafe as well eating since he was starved.

One of the nurses came in to see if she needed anything.

"I can use to have that window opened a little with the heat a little too much," she states. While the young nurse walked over to turn down the heat and open the window a little. "Thank you." she smiled even though she needed a nap badly.

"Try and take a nap, Shannon. Before more blood tests, blood pressure and the usual are taken again sometime soon," she replied knowing the routine.

"How well I know it. I will see what's on tv first before deciding to take a nap. My husband is supposed to be coming back up to visit until he heads back to the hotel suite."

"Whatever works best for you. If you will excuse me I have other patients to check on." she walks out of the private room to have Shannon relax finally.

Grabbing the remote from the bedside and begin scanning the different channels. She was able to find an old John Wayne movie that she knows that her first husband will like called The Sands of Iwo Jima and the first movie for where Wayne's character is shot in the back.

Moments later her husband Alex sneaking in with food for her after having her breakfast that just wasn't filling to her. "HO!HO! HO! I brought a second breakfast, Shannon. I do hope that it will help." he said.

"Help in what way Alex?" she asked.

"Making your tummy yummy," he replied to make the both of them laugh. She eyed the two bags filled with an egg sandwich filled with cheese, bacon, and onions, along with a coffee, a muffin with butter and jelly in between.

"I love you, Alex. This is going to hold me for a while." she pulled out the egg sandwich and began to eat.

"Any word from the doctors on when the surgery will be?" he was concerned.

"Don't have a clue, Alex. Probably it was going to be early in the morning. I hope to god that Kelly comes and sees me as with Jethro and Loreile for having done a great deal for us." she said with taking a sip of her delicious coffee.

"Jesus! Kelly will be here Shannon. She is trying to get some rest before coming here later. And for which you will need as well once I leave to head for the hotel suite."

"Is that a hint Alex?" she quipped with her words.

"Yes."

Special Agent Gibbs had been upset playing with Shane and Nathan in the nursery. While Kelly and Loreile were out shopping. This was a good time for James to get to know Gibbs better while watching his sons on the floor playing with a friend of theirs to be Phineas coming home with a half-day for all of the students.

"I must tell you, Gibbs I am glad in a big way that Kelly had made the decision to come and see you in the hospital in spite of the fact she was fighting for weeks with her mother. Can you tell me what Kelly was like when she was eight years old?" He asked asking about his daughter back then.

"Like now James. She has no doubt always stayed this way with growing up while she was staying at the safe house in Italy?" Gibbs said with needing to get up from the chair. "Let's go downstairs to have a beer. These kids are in good hands with Madeline watching them."

DOWNSTAIRS

"This Phineas sounds like a great kid and he does care a great deal for you and the boys? " James asked feeling the emotion.

"He's a great kid who has been through a great deal with losing his mother," Gibbs said without going into further details on her death.

"If you don't mind me asking on how hid his mother die?" James was sensing Gibbs trying to hide the truth of the matter.

"As it did turn out his mother Sahar was trying to kill me and Ziva David a few years ago and I had no choice catching up with her to put a bullet into her head."

"Jesus!" James exclaimed.
