Chapter 40: Thank You

May is in her room with Kiara while Drew is in the Throne Room.

"Does Drew know that you're here?" Kiara asked.

"He knows that I'm not there, so he knows that I'm somewhere." May said. "But I can't tell him where, because I have a surprise for him. I did say that I have to take care of something, so I don't think he'd come looking for me."

"If you say so."

May finished wrapping up a present in red and pink wrapping paper. "It may be after Valentine's Day, but I hope he likes his presents." May said.

"He definitely will." Kiara said as she finished wrapping up a different box in red and pink wrapping paper. Kiara looked at all of May's surprises for Drew. "Wow...you really went full out."

May looked at all of the presents in total as well. "I had to. This is like a surprise to thank him for...well...being him. I could never be successful as Queen without him." May looked at Kiara. "So this is to thank him."

Kiara smiled. "He'll love it all."

"I hope he can also accept my apology." May said.

Kiara looked at May. "So...you're apologizing and saying thank you?"

"Yep! You'll understand when we get there. You know what to do, right?"

Kiara nodded. "I use my scepter to teleport everything to the Throne Room."

May nodded. "Good. Let's go."

Kiara entered the Throne Room. Drew looked at her. "Kiara, do you, by chance, know where May is? She's been gone for some time now."

Kiara stopped in front of the staircase. "No, I haven't. But I did see that a giant package was delivered to the castle."

"A package?" Drew questioned.

Kiara nodded. "See for yourself." She pulled out her scepter and teleported a giant present from May's room to the middle of the Throne Room. It's seven feet tall and four feet wide.

Drew stood up and stared at the giant present in pink and red wrapping paper. "That was delivered here?"

"It sure was." Kiara said. She turned around and walked to stand next to the present. "The tag says that it's addressed to you."

Drew sighed and walked down the stairs. "If it's from a fan, then I don't even want it. And it's past Valentine's Day. What's with the red and pink paper?" He stopped in front of it.

"I don't know." Kiara said. "You should open it."

Drew looked the tall present up and down. He walked to the side to read the tag that's attached to the giant bow at the top. "To Drew, from question mark." He flipped the tag over. "Happy late Valentine's Day from your biggest admirer."

Drew released the tag and looked up at the box again. "An admirer got me something this big?"

"Seems that way." Kiara said. "I didn't know you have a secret admirer. I mean, you must have a lot of admirers. But who would go through all the trouble to wrap a present like this?"

"I don't know…" Drew paused before continuing. "...and I don't want to find out." He turned around and started walking back to his throne.

"Wait!" Kiara called. "Why don't you want to open it at least?"

Drew stopped and turned around. "It's from a fan. I don't accept gifts from fans no matter what they are."

"But don't you want to know who your secret admirer is?"

"I don't really…"

"Come on, Drew. Your secret admirer is not as secret as you think." Kiara said as she reached up and grabbed an end of the giant bow at the top. She pulled the ribbon down, undoing the bow, and the sides of the box all falling down perfectly.

Drew's eyes widened. "May?"

May was revealed when the box broke apart. She was in the box the entire time, listening to Drew and Kiara's conversation. She's holding a wireless microphone and there's also two speakers behind her.

May smiled at Drew. "I appreciate that you didn't open the box, because you thought that it's from a fan. I've always loved that part about you."

"Wait a minute. You're my biggest admirer?" He asked incredulously.

"I'm your wife, silly." May said, giggling. "Of course I consider myself as your biggest admirer."

"But...I'm confused…" Drew started. "Why were you in the present?"

May smiled and brought the microphone up to her mouth. Kiara took out her phone and turned on a karaoke song that May chose earlier today. The music was playing through the speakers on the box.

(This song is "Shakespeare" by Miranda Cosgrove.)

"I saw you there...so beautiful." May sang into the microphone. "You stopped and stared...so magical. Then you asked me for my name. And we took an uptown train. Before you leave, get up to go, I wanna know,"

"Do you like Shakespeare," She continued. "Just bubbly, watching movies on Sunday? Do you like kissing when it's raining, making faces in the station? Do you like?" Drew smiled.

"I need to know." She sang. "What do you like? Before you go."

"You walk me home...so wonderful." May sang. "It starts to snow...it's incredible." She started walking towards Drew. "Now we're walking up my street, and you slowly turn to me. You're three inches from my lips, but before we do this,"

May stopped in front of Drew and they stared into each other's eyes as she continued. "Do you like Shakespeare, just bubbly, watching movies on Sunday? Do you like kissing when it's raining, making faces in the station? Do you like?"

"I need to know." She continued, taking Drew's hand. "What do you like? Before you go. Oh, oh."

Drew slipped his hand out of May's and ran it through her hair. May reached up and placed her hand on Drew's on her cheek and she leaned into his hand. "Show me the place where you come from. And the places you dream of. I wanna know everything you are. But before we get that far,"

May took Drew's hand on her cheek and she slowly started lowering it as she continued. "What do you like? I need to know. What do you like? Before you go."

"Do you like Shakespeare?" She continued. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just you and me on Sunday. Oh, oh."

"Cause I like Shakespeare, just bubbly, watching movies on Sunday." May sang. "Kissing when it's raining, making faces in the station. Do you like? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah." May sang, finishing the song.

Kiara used her scepter and teleported balloons and presents from May's room to the area in front of the broken box. Drew looked past May at all of the Valentine's Day stuff.

"Whoa...what's all that for?" Drew asked.

"I didn't give you a Valentine's Day present on Valentine's Day, because I was freaking out about losing my ring." May said. Drew looked at her. "So...this is all your late Valentine's Day surprise."

"All of this?" Drew asked incredulously.

May nodded. "All from your biggest admirer."

Drew smiled. "I'm glad it's you and not a fan."

"Me too. Well...shall you get to opening your gifts?"

"I think that's a great idea." Drew walked past to May to all of the presents. May followed him. "Where to begin…" he asked, looking at the four gifts.

Kiara walked to them. "I wonder what she got you."

"Something amazing, I'm sure." Drew said.

Drew stared at the three wrapped boxes and 1 present bag. He took the bag.

"Let's see what you got me." Drew said. He took the tissue paper out of the bag, tossing it all on the floor. He saw a few different things in the bag.

Drew reached in the bag and pulled out a candle. He smelled it's aroma for a few seconds before pulling back. "Mm...is that...roses?" He looked at May.

May smiled. "Correct!"

Drew handed the candle to May, so he could pull something else out of the bag. He pulled out a green wallet. A red rose is engraved on the back of the wallet. "Nice touch." Drew said.

May giggled. "You know I had to get something with roses on it."

"Yeah. It looks great." Drew flipped over the wallet, staring at the words engraved on the front. "I love you for all that you are, all that you have been, and all that you're yet to be." He read.

Drew looked at May. "Aww…" he cooed. May blushed.

Drew handed her the wallet, so he could take out the last item. He pulled out a book and dropped the bag onto the floor. He stared down at the book.

"What I love about you." Drew read on the cover of the book.

May smiled shyly when she saw Drew open the book.

"I love how you're dedicated to being King." Drew read. He flipped to a different page. "I love how you always work hard to please me." He turned to a different page again. "I love how you're committed to being the best husband you can be." He flipped to another page. "I love how you would do whatever it takes to keep me smiling." He turned the page. "I love how you always make my heart beat rapidly out of my chest."

Drew flipped to the very last page of the book. "You wrote an acrostic poem."

"Read it." May said.

"Dreamy emerald green eyes stare into my sapphire blues." Drew read. "Romance is a big part of you. Enlivening my life in all its glory and truth. Warming my heart can only be done by King Drew."

"Aww...that was beautiful." Kiara said.

May smiled. "It's what Drew does every day."

Drew looked at May. "I'm a bit confused…"

"About what?" May questioned.

"Why surprise me with all of these presents?"

May giggled. "Just open the last three and I'll explain afterward."

"Okay then. I'll read the entire book later." Drew handed May the book and he took one of the thin box-looking presents. The box seems to be around 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Drew is just holding the top of it, so it doesn't fall. "What could you have gotten me that's this tall?"

"You'll find out soon."

Drew tore the wrapping paper off of what seems to be a canvas print with the word "his" in big fancy letters across the middle. Drew stared at the many words that are engraved in this white canvas. He smiled and looked at May.

"Aren't these...my wedding vows to you?" Drew asked.

May smiled. "They sure are! Open another present."

Drew gently laid the large canvas on the floor. He walked to the next present that's the same exact size as the canvas. He tore the wrapping paper off, revealing a different canvas, this time with a large picture of May and Drew's wedding day. The picture is when they kissed under the fireworks display at the end of the wedding. The lighting is perfect, their lips are connected, their eyes are closed, and they're dressed in their nice wedding dance attire.

"Wow...this is a good picture." Drew said.

May giggled. "I'm glad you think so."

Drew laid the picture canvas next to the word one and he tore the wrapping paper off the last present, revealing more typed words with the word "hers" in big fancy letters across the middle.

"And these are your wedding vows." Drew said.

May placed Drew's candle, wallet, and book on the floor. She walked up next to Drew, taking his hand and looking at him. "I had these custom-made so we would always remember those promises we made to each other."

"I'll never forget them for as long as I live." Drew looked at May.

"I won't either."

Drew gave May a peck on her lips before he looked back at the canvas and placed it on the floor. They both looked down at the three canvases, admiring them. "I'll get people to put these in the perfect place for us."

"Sounds good."

"But first…" Drew faced May, using May's hand to turn her to face him too. "I want to know why you decided to give me these really romantic gifts."

"Well…" May started. "I want to apologize to you."

"Apologize?" Drew questioned. "For what?"

"For...what happened on Valentine's Day."

"Losing the ring? I told you that it's okay."

"No, no, no. Not about that. I'm really sorry for not telling you about that right away. I was just...worried that you'd be really mad at me if I told you. So I tried to keep it to myself and hide that I lost it, but that didn't work because you showed me the ice-skating rink, and I felt like I didn't deserve that amazing of a surprise."

"May…"

"So I'm sorry, Drew...for not being honest with you on Valentine's Day."

Drew smiled. "Apology accepted."

May returned the smile. "And all these presents are also to say thank you."

"Really?"

May nodded. "You're always there for me. In sickness and in health. Safety or danger. I know that I could always count on you to cheer me up when I'm sad. Or help me deal with any evil. So thank you, Drew." May smiled brightly. "Thank you for all that you've done for me since we first met. You're the best."

Drew smiled. "You're welcome. It's just in my nature to always protect you. You do mean everything to me, you know."

May giggled with pink cheeks. "I know." She tiptoed and kissed Drew on his lips.

Backing away, May said, "You're my knight in shining armor."

"And you're my damsel in distress."

May blushed and pushed Drew playfully, giggling. "I'm not always the one who needs saving."

"True. But when you do, I'll be there to protect you. Always."
