I watched a plum of smoke rise from the jedi temple.
I took of on a speeder to the temple the hangar was a wreck.
"How the hell did someone do this?" I said aloud.
"Captain come with us" two Jedi guards escorted me to the council room where Ahsoka and Anakin stood
"How could the Separatists infiltrate the temple?" Anakin asked
"Worse than that it is." Yoda said
"What could be worse, Master Yoda?" Ahsoka asked. The council members all shot looks at each other
"Everything is on the table. We have to look at the possibility that it could have been anyone in the temple, even a Jedi." Windu said.
"If a Jedi this is, gone to the dark side they have." Yoda said
"I...I can't believe a Jedi would attack a place this sacred." Ahsoka stuttered
"We'd like for you three to lead the investigation. We can't trust anyone who was here even a Jedi. You and Ahsoka will provide an impartial view free of assumptions. And Commander we need you if it was indeed orchestrated by an outsider." Windu said
"We'll do everything we can." Anakin said
"Careful you must be Skywalker. If willing to destroy the Temple the attacker is, to great lengths they will go to keep from being caught." Yoda said
"Then I guess we'll have to go to even greater lengths to catch him" Anakin said. We left the council chamber and headed to the wrecked hangar. Droids scanned the charred and blackened rubble.
"I can still hear the screams." Anakin said.
"Do you believe what they said, Mastet, that a Jedi could do this?" Ahsoka asked
"Not every Jedi agrees with this war,Ahsoka" I said
" There are many political idealists among us." Anakin finished
"But a traitor?"she asked
"I'm afraid one can eventually become the other. "Anakin said
"Remember Count Dooku and General Krell. That's how they started too." I said
"Only analysis and investigation will prove what is true or not." A droid said.
"Who are you?"Anakin asked
"I am Russo-ISCA, crime scene Analyzer for the Jedi. I will be working with you your Padawan and Ms. Fett on this case. I was assigned by Master Windu." The droid stated
"Okay,Russo, you and Ahsoka should begin the interviews." Anakin said
"I'd rather interview the witnesses alone." Russo said. Ahsoka and Anakin shared a look
"Why?" Ahsoka asked.
"Many of the wounded have heard rumors a Jedi was behind this explosion. There will be ill will towards you." Russo said Anakin and Ahsoka looked at each other
"Then Russo and I can conduct interviews." I said.
"Fine let me know if you find anything." Anakin said I nodded
Russo and I left heading for the medical wing.
"Did you notice anything unusual about the hangar?" I asked
"Not really although I left the hangar five minutes before the bomb exploded."the tech replied.
"Did everything seem okay before that? I pressed.
"Everything seemed normal. Is it true a Jedi might be responsible for the attack?" He asked
"I couldn't tell you."I said
" I think I know who did it. Who blew up the hangar." A pantoran said I walked towards him.
"Who?" I asked
"I believe it was Jackar Bowmani" he replied
"Who's jackar? "I asked
" one of the maintenance crew in the hangar." He said
"Why do you think it was him?" I asked
"I passed him as I was going on my shift change. He... he had been working all morning in the section the blast came from. It was the last place I saw him." He said. Russo pulled up a picture showing it to the man
"Is this him?" He asked
"Yes." He replied
"I need to know have you seen him since the explosion?" Russo asked
"No. Truthfully I didn't see much of anything after the explosion." He said
"Thanks" I said sending him a soft smile. Russo and I stepped away"looks like we have to find Bowmani, Russo." I said. Anakin and Ahsoka stepped in some of the wounded sending them withering glares.
"Did you find anything?" I asked
"No but the rumor about it being a Jedi is growing. We can feel the anger and confusion throughout the Jedi temple." Anakin said
"Russo and i have a lead. We're looking for a temple worker, Jackar Bowmani." I pulled up a photo
"One of the witnesses saw him in the area where the bomb exploded right before it happened, and we have not been able to find him anywhere." Russo said
"Come on. Nobody just disappears." Anakin said
"Not unless it was well planned out." I said
"Well it had to be well planned out to get past the Jedi. I'll talk to security"Anakin said.
I took a walk a shouting caught my attention.
" Stop the violence. End the war." People chanted. I stepped down next to the Jedi standing guard
"Let me guess family and friends" I said.
"That would be correct they're looking for answers."the Jedi replied
"As are we"I said ruefully."this is the guy who might be behind all this." I pulled out Jackars photo."alert me or Anakin or Ahsoka if you see him." I said
"That is Jackar." A women shouted
"You know this man?" I asked
"He is my husband. I've been trying to reach him since I heard of this explosion. Where is he?" She asked
"I need you to come with me."I said she followed wrapping her arms tightly around herself.
"This is Jackar wife" I said as we reache Anakin and Ahsoka
"Got it we'll go talk to her you and Russo go look at the ruins" Anakin said.
"Sounds good." I said we walked into the hangar Ahsoka followed us"Trinity scan this again tell me about any little thing." I said.
"No need" Russo said. He turned on the hologram and we watched the hangar explode the main culprit looked like a ship.
"Why isn't there bomb residue" I asked.
" so you think whoever did this triggered a ship to explode?" Anakin asked
"Probably" I said
Russos trying to use the shrapnel to determine that now." Ahsoka said.
"The witness said he saw Jackar in that area." I replied
"Maybe Jackar planned to do this and just kept it quiet."Ahsoka mused.
"Hmm. Or..." Anakin said
" it was actually a Jedi." Ahsoka said dejectedly.
"I found something an anomaly... something that should not be here." Russo said playing back the explosion." These pieces come from the blast origin. They are covered in Microscopic droids of a highly volatile nature." Russo said
"Nano-droids." I said
" yes, Nano-droids." Russo said.
"Great. Now we're chasing nano-droids."Ahsoka said.
"Russo go through the security footage. Try to see if Jackar went to other parts of the temple. Ahsoka let go find out how Jackar got his hands on these nano-droids." Anakin said
"I'm just gonna keep looking for Jackar then" I said they left the wrecked hangar.
I scoured the temple floor by floor.
"Master Skywalker Mistress Fett we have found Jackar." Russos voice came through my helmets comm systems.
"Lock down all exits so he can't escape." Anakin said.
I took off to find Russo he was in the morgue.
"Where is he" Anakin asked
"Well part of him is here" Russo replied
"I don't think now is a good time to joke." Anakin said Russo led us to a severed hand
"This is all that remains of Jackar." Russo said
"A hand?" I looked at the droid.
"The rest of him exploded." Russo said
"Because he was so close to the bomb? " Ahsoka asked
" He probably was the bomb" I said
"That would be correct Commander." Russo said he handed Anakin a data pad
"What's this?" He asked
"The connection we were looking for to the explosion in the hangar." Russo said runing a scan on the hand.
"The nano-droids." Ahsoka exclaimed." How did they get in his blood stream?"
"Oh this just keeps getting better and better." I rolled my eyes
"We're going to have to search Jackars home for evidence." Anakin said.
We hopped into the speeder Ahsoka and Anakin were up front and I sat in the back. We flew through the lower levels.
We landed and walked through an alley way before coming to the apartment complex.
"This is not the nicest place." Anakin muttered.
"I would've thought working for the Jedi paid better." Ahsoka piped up
"Ehh depends on the job" I said as Anakin opened the door.
"Leta let's are you here? You and Lillee go search for the droids but be careful" he said "and remember, he was a munitions expert. I'd rather not set off another explosion today. I'll see if he left a note." Anakin said. Ahsoka and I started scanning things for the droids. Ahsoka hit the lights but they didn't turn on I flipped on my flood lights.
"Thanks" she said. The scanner kept beeping. We stepped into the kitchen. The sensor started being faster.
"Anakin!" I shouted
" the sensors are picking up traces in the disposal." Ahsoka said as he entered the room."the nano droids were in the food."
"Well I guess the question now is, did he eat them willingly or did someone feed them to him?" Anakin said
"Wha-what are you doing here?" Leta asked.
"We learned Jackar was involved in the bombing." I looked at her
"That can't be true." Let's denied
"See if she has any nano droids on her Ahsoka." Anakin said she scanned Lets.
"Uh, nano-droids?" She asked flinching as Ahsoka scanned her"what do you mean nano-droids?" She asked
"We believe someone set Jackar up and made him the bomb." Ahsoka said
"I..I don't understand." She said no grief or loss in her tone. I cocked an eyebrow
"Leta I want to bring you in for more questioning." Anakin said she jerked back "maybe you can help us make sense out of all this."
"I'll answer any questions I can." She said. We walked her outside. She knocked a guy into Ahsoka and took off.
"Letta stop" Anakin said"Letta!"
We chased her as she climbed onto a transport.
"Take the high road" Anakin barked
"Right master" she said leaping into the air. We chased Letta down
"Letta stop!" Ahsoka shouted. Letta backed up. Anakin and I stepped out of the shadows.
"Let me go."she said
"Running means you know more than your telling us." Ahsoka lept down to the ground.
"Jackar is dead, and now your trying to blame his murder on me." She shouted.
"Nobody ever said he was dead." I said stepping closer.
"But running proves you had something to do with the bomb" Ahsoka said.
"You don't know what your talking about." Letta growled.
"People blamed Jedi because of you. People were killed because of you!"Ahsoka shouted
"You can't prove anything." She said grabbing ahsokas wrist.
"Did you feed the nano-droids to Jackar." Anakin asked aggressively."you will answer me now" he shouted.
"Yes I fed Jackar the nano-droids." She said
"You set up your own husband to die?" Ahsoka asked.
"Your dealing with things you don't understand." She said
"Oh where your going, you'll have plenty of time to explain everything." Ahsoka said we walked Letta out of the alley and back to our speeder. We took her to the cells below the temple. Anakin and Ahsoka left into the temple well I sat and watched her.
