A/N: Short. but I thought it was cute.
With a big sigh, Persephone fell onto the couch in their bedroom. 'Man, that tasted pretty good. Eh, for mortal food, you must understand.'
Hades shuffled into the room. 'Yes. I understand.'
'I liked the baked chicken the best. It was just like fried chicken, but lighter somehow. And you?'
'Yes, I like fried chicken.'
Persephone rolled her eyes. 'What are you thinking?'
'About the chicken.'
She picked up one of the pillows on the couch and threw it at her husband. 'Hades! What is the matter?'
Hades looked up. 'Eh? Nothing. Nothings' the matter.'
'Yes, of course. Come on, if nothing was wrong, you would have heard what I said.'
Hades shuffled around the room. 'I don't know if I can tell you.'
'What? I am your wife!'
'Still.'
Persephone sighed dramatically. 'So it is about Nico. Does it have something to do with Will Solace? Please say they are not about to break up, I like him.'
Hades shook his head, a little annoyed. 'No, it is not about mister Solace.'
Persephone turned her eyes to the window. Outside, you could see Elysium. It was the only place in the Underworld you could look at without feeling a sense of dread.
Hades wandered to their closet. 'I never swore anything on the Styx…' he muttered to himself, while he opened the closet and pulled out a bottle of cherry wine, made from the crystal cherries Persephone grew in her garden. He sat down on the couch, next to Persephone. She had a cheeky grin on her face. '...but... maybe you should.'
'What? You don't trust me?'
Hades narrowed his eyes. Persephone sighed. 'I swear on the Styx I won't blab about Nico's problems to anyone other than… you, Nico, that adorable Will and whoever his therapist was again. Dionysus?'
'Yes. Dionysus.'
'Could have guessed, that guy was also a therapist for major historical figures.'
'Yes.' Hades thought for a second, while pouring out two glasses of wine. 'Alright then.' He took a deep breath. 'I must say, I already wanted a second opinion before bringing it to Dionysus.
'Ah. So?'
'Well, Nico has been having very bad dreams, with strange voices and faces. And from what I have garnered, the Elder Gods are trying to contact him.'
Persephone stopped in the midst of taking a sip. 'The Elder Gods? Are you sure?'
'Not entirely of course, but it seems a lot like them. I mean, the faces he has been seeing have horns, freaky eye-colours and snakes. That sounds a lot like the gods from Orphic times or even what came before that, doesn't it?'
'I mean, just from what we know…' She tilted her head. 'Which… I kind of do, a lot. Better than you, even.'
Hades took a sip, looking annoyed. 'Dionysus is also thinking about the Elder Gods.'
'Ah-ha..'
'I find it worrisome.'
'Doesn't that depend on what exactly is going on and how you can fix it?'
'Yes, it does, of course. It all depends, always.'
Hades took a deep breath and sunk deeper into the couch, with a sulky expression. He took a sip of wine. 'Unbelievable that they just had that kids stuff in the restaurant.'
Persephone shrugged. 'You shouldn't tell Dionysus, but I like alcohol-free champagne. It is way sweeter than actual champagne.'
' did you think of tonight, actually?'
'Oh, I liked it, I already said that. The food was good for mortal standards. The sauces were better than that. I think Will Solace is a darling and Nico is… he is alright.' She took a sip of her drink and sighed. 'I really think Nico is fine. He seems like a nice kid. Fun. Has a good boyfriend.' She pulled up her shoulders.
'I get it, Seph.' Hades reached for her hand and gently squeezed it.
'Hm.' She gently squeezed it back. 'And anyway, I chose to go, I guess. I knew it was his dinnerparty.'
'Eh… yeah.'
Slowly, they drank the rest of their wine, while looking at Elysium. Hades sighed and put his empty glass down. 'I have one last place to go to today.'
'And that is?'
'Camp half-blood. Dionysus. I know where his room is and also that he will most certainly be there at this moment. I need to tell him what I think, so that Nico can be helped as quickly as possible.'
'Okay, of course. Should I wait?'
'You are not going to hold me back?'
'No. You need to catch Dionysus whenever you can and if that just so happens to be in his room in the middle of the night, so be it. Trust me, I know. That guy is gone before you know it.'
Hades began to laugh. 'Alright, Seph. You don't have to wait. I'll be back in an hour or so. sleep tight.'
Persephone winked, while Hades teleported away.
A/N: I cannot say what Rick Riordan was planning or meaning with those voices. What I did is make something up that I thought may be interesting. As I said before, it won't get all dark and edgy because I don't like that.
I like the idea of Dionysus being uncontrollable and for this reason an annoyance to the other gods.
