Rachel POV- With the bullet still inside Martin Rachel was trying to stop the bleeding only. It must have hit an organ or something because the blood would slow under her healing energy then start gushing again. Her vision was getting a little fuzzy but she had to save him.
"Grey's hit. We got to get him out of there!" she heard Jax yell.
"Where's Barry when you need him?" Sara asked.
"Just tying up some loose ends" Barry said on coms.
"He's almost at the breach hangar" Ray warned then over coms.
"If we don't stop him he's gonna blow up our only ticket home" Barry said.
"Not to mention us" Sara commented.
Rachel fell onto her side feeling dizzy. Her shield vanished due to her lack of energy. Beside her she was vaguely aware Martin had begun to crawl toward the switch.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! Grey! Stay down! Grey! No!" Jax shouted.
Rachel rolled over and looked over at Martin. He'd managed to lever himself to stand by the switch. Rachel saw him jerk as another bullet slammed into his back. Slowly she pushed herself up onto her knees but was panting with exertion from that simple task. She only had enough energy to stay conscious which made moving difficult but she had to get to Martin.
"Grey!" Jax yelled leaving the safety of his cover to rush toward Martin.
"Fall back! Fall back!" a Nazi yelled.
But they were too late. Martin managed to flip the switch on the breach. Every Nazi who was standing on the platform was vaporized when it opened. Then Martin sank to the ground leaning against the panel. Jax reached Martin and Leo came to Rachel.
"Barry the breach is open" Oliver knelt down next to her.
Rachel placed one hand on Leo and the other on Oliver as she drew their energy into herself. Her vision cleared as did her head. She didn't feel like her body was made of lead anymore either. She took just enough to not be a liability to the team and left Leo and Oliver mostly in top fighting form.
"Barry we need you to hurry up. Stein's hurt" Sara said.
"All right we're on the move" Barry replied.
"He's alive but his condition is critical" Alex said checking on Martin.
"All right Gideon will fix him" Sara assured.
"No it's too dangerous to move him" Alex said.
"Not if he's Firestorm" Sara nodded to Jax.
"Yeah. Grey, Grey! Grey come on" Jax said holding out his hand.
Weakly Martin took it and they transformed into Firestorm. Rachel took energy offered to her by Sara and Alex but none from Firestorm. Jax had to stay as strong as possible right now to keep Martin alive. She now had enough energy to kill someone but she'd have to touch them to do it. Rachel figured she'd be back to full power in a couple hours so long as she stayed in fresh air and sunlight.
"Thanks for your help" Oliver told Leo.
"We're not done helping yet. Our enemies are still on your Earth Ollie" Leo answered.
"Don't call me that" Oliver said walking away toward the breach.
"Give it time I'll get through that crusty exterior" Leo said.
"No you really won't" Sara said catching up.
"I was talking to you" Leo replied.
Rachel grinned at the way he joked with her friends. Together they all walked through the breach with Ray flying through and Barry running. On the other side they walked down the hallway in STAR Labs.
"So this is Earth-1. Cute" Leo said to Ray.
"We need to find Kara" Alex said.
"Then we need to split up" Oliver ordered.
Oliver went off by himself and Sara again went with Alex. Ray let Rachel take energy from him and just the little she did take gave her overcharge.
"Whoa" Rachel grinned from the rush.
"Yeah I know. Pure light energy" Ray smiled.
"I got Supergirl"
"I got Team B" Rachel heard on her com for the Legends.
"Ray? Nate?" she asked making Leo and Ray look at her oddly.
"Rachel? Thank God you're back. Were down in the speed lab" Nate replied.
"Well I'm helping Supergirl get outside with Felicity" Ray noted.
"All right. Nate headed your way" Rachel said as she began to lead the way with the others.
They came on the scene with Metallo beating Team Arrow, Flash and Legends. Quickly her team read the situation and attacked. Barry ran in and Ray flew in glowing. Rachel fired energy and Leo fired ice. It took everyone's combined power and weapons but they were able to bring down Metallo quickly.
Firestorm took off immediately headed most likely for the roof and the Waverider. Rachel ran after him unsure if anyone else followed or if they hung back for an update.
"Gideon fix him!" she heard Jax yell as she ran breathlessly into the MedBay on the Waverider.
"His pressure's dropping we have to stanch the bleeding" Caitlin rushed in.
"I tried. Gideon help" Rachel begged.
"Right away Ms. Stone" Gideon answered.
"Jax relax. Professor's going to be fine. He's a tough bastard" Mick said to a sweating anxious Jax as he put his hand on Martin's shoulder.
"Jackson's hit!" Nate yelled when Jax coughed up blood and fell.
"I can't find an entry wound" Nate noted.
"Look at their vitals. It must be because of their connection" Caitlin said once Jax's vitals were on screen next to Martin's.
"What the hell does that mean?" Mick asked worried.
"Even though Jax isn't injured their life functions must still be linked somehow" Caitlin explained.
"Well how do we unlink them?" Nate asked.
"We can't" Rachel and Caitlin said.
"Their connection's the only thing keeping the Professor alive" Caitlin said.
"It's okay, it'll be fine I can save him" Rachel assured them as she began working on Martin again along with some help from Gideon.
Some part of Rachel knew that saving Martin, who technically should already be dead right now, would kill her. It would be trading her final life energy to give a second life to him. She was just too far deep in worry to realize it or to care.
Mick hovered as she worked on Martin. Once again her vision began to dim and she became dizzy. Her hands shook and sweat beaded her brow. Vaguely she was aware of her heartbeat slowing down. Her eyes rolled back but Mick was there to catch her when she fell.
"I'm okay…I can't stop…I can't…" Rachel assured Mick who held her upright.
"Mr. Rory…" Martin spoke up softly weakly.
"Would you please…get Ms. Stone out of here?"
"What? No Martin…" Rachel argued.
"If you save me…you die. Did you think I didn't know?"
"But Jax…"
"Will take the serum Cisco made to separate him and myself."
"You'll die."
"I'm already dead my dear. Now please…go. Mr. Rory please" Martin nodded closing his eyes.
"No, no Mick no! Please I can save him, Mick! No Martin! Wait Mick stop please, please I can do it" Rachel begged tears streaming down her cheeks as Mick forcefully dragged her away.
"I won't lose you too" Mick said choked up.
"Gideon, Professor's last request, lock the door" Mick ordered pushing Rachel into her room.
"Yes Mr. Rory" Gideon said sadly.
"Mick no please!" Rachel banged on the locked door.
"Professor said you live. And so do I" Mick replied sounding both sad and angry.
Rachel heard Mick's footsteps retreat from her door. She couldn't take it she dropped to her knees and cried. Losing Martin like this felt like losing a father he was such a close friend.
This was the final end of the first Firestorm and she doubted this time Firestorm would rise from the ashes. Poor Martin, poor Jax.
Leo POV- Having boarded the Waverider along with the others Leo heard there was a man on board named Mick Rory. On Leo's Earth Mick Rory had been his best friend. He'd died.
So Leo left Rachel to deal with Martin while he went to find Earth-1 Mick. He found him in the ships kitchen area two beers in reaching for a third.
"Hey there friend. No need to numb your feelings with alcohol" Leo said taking the beer from Mick's hand as he sat down.
"The ghost is back" Mick groaned hitting his fist to his head.
"No not a ghost. I'm Leo. Leo Snart from Earth-X. It's okay buddy I know you're hurting over Firestorm" Leo said gently.
"Get your hand off me" Mick growled when Leo patted Mick's arm when he'd taken his beer back.
"What's wrong partner? Talk to me" Leo urged.
"You're not my partner. You're a…gangbanger" Mick struggled for the word before taking a swallow of beer.
"I think you mean 'doppelganger' and there was one of you on my Earth too. Rest his soul" Leo said looking down.
"Wait… I'm dead on Planet Nazi? Let me guess. In a fire?" Mick said seeming smug.
"You just kept going back into that burning police station until the last officer had been rescued" Leo explained bringing back the pain he'd felt on that day.
Mick's face fell from proud to utter disgust as he listened to Leo. His beer was halfway to his mouth but he'd stopped the motion.
"I died trying to save pigs? I'm gonna be sick" Mick said setting his beer down looking like he truly might vomit.
"Now, now it was very noble" Leo said.
"Rachel!" Mick blurted out panicked.
"What? What's wrong?" Leo asked forgetting about Mick's feelings.
"She planned to drain herself of energy and give it to the Professor" Mick said calmly now.
Leo stood quickly appalled that she would try to do that even more so that Mick would let her. He turned to rush for the MedBay but he didn't know the way. He didn't let that stop him though he figured he'd just ask the ship, Gideon.
"I locked her in her room!" he heard Mick call after him. Leo was now grateful to Mick.
He doubted Rachel would be in a good mood but he had to check on her see her for himself. As long as he was around she wasn't allowed to die he couldn't lose her again.
