A/N: It's time for the chaos to start...

That night, as I was sitting down to my homework, my laptop started ringing with a video call from Uncle Neah. My first thought was panic that Tyki had broken his promise and told Neah everything, but I managed to push that aside and answer the call. Neah knew my schedule and often called on Thursday nights. This was nothing more than his weekly attempt to check in on me.
We chatted about school for a bit. It was nice at first, but it quickly grew annoying when he began talking like I owed him good grades. Neah may have been my guardian, but he wasn't even sort of financially supporting my education. So it irked me that he felt entitled to lecture me about my schoolwork, especially with the knowledge that while I was struggling to make ends meet, he could probably pay for all of my expenses with the cash in his pocket.
So even though I wasn't ready to tell him about my marriage or my pregnancy, that was the subject that popped out when he'd pushed me too far. "I'm not quitting my job just so that I can have more time to study, Neah. I've got plenty of time to get everything done. So why don't you drop this and tell me what you thought of Kanda. You've been begging to meet him for months and now you finally have. So, what did you think?"
Of course, all the attempt to change the subject did was make Uncle Neah whine about the fact that I was dating. The diatribe that followed was almost word for word exactly what Komui had said last week, after Lenalee told him that she was dating Lavi, though without the references to octopuses and the threats to build killer robots.
The comparison was almost amusing, but this was no longer my boyfriend he was complaining about, it was my husband and the father of my child. I needed Neah to grow up and accept the fact that I was an adult and could make my own decisions. "Neah. I've been with Kanda for almost three years. That's longer than all of your relationships combined. Can you be done complaining about the fact that I'm dating and tell me your actual thoughts about my boy-"
Neah abruptly cut me off. "Freeze."
I immediately stopped talking and held as still as I could, wondering what had made him suddenly get serious like that. Neah stared critically at me for what felt like forever, even leaning in closer to the computer screen to get a better look. I wanted to ask what was going on, but I was too scared to interrupt him. When Neah finally spoke again, his voice was filled with confusion and disbelief. "That's a ring on your finger. Your ring finger. Why are you wearing a ring?"
I turned beet red as I dropped my hands to my lap. I idly fiddled with the ring on my finger, trying to figure out how to ease into this and not dump it all on him at once. "Kanda asked me to marry him, and I said yes."
The disappointment on Neah's face was expected, but his question was not. "Does that mean that you're done with that whole 'trying to become a man' nonsense you started when you went off to college?"
I groaned and buried my face in my hands. "For the millionth time, Neah, I was never trying to become a man. I only changed my name so that people would stop asking me stupid questions and leave me alone."
But Neah didn't hear me. He had changed the subject while I was complaining and he was now planning my wedding. He sounded really excited, which was a relieving change of pace from the whining he'd done earlier, so I let him ramble on while I tried to figure out how on earth I was supposed to tell him that I was not only already married, but had a child on the way.
Of course, that was when Tyki walked into Neah's office.
And as if his presence wasn't enough cause for worry, he had to come in right as Neah was saying that I needed to have an August wedding because I was going to look beautiful as a summer bride, outdoors amongst the flowers.
I tried desperately to stop the train wreck that was about to happen, but Tyki started laughing before I could get a single syllable out. And it wasn't a gentle laugh either. It was a raucous belly laugh that had him practically doubled over and gasping for breath. "Man, Shounen, you're gonna be a whale in August."
The irritation on Neah's face over being interrupted faded to confusion as he looked at me. "What's going on, Allison?"
I sighed heavily, both from reluctance to have this conversation and frustration with Tyki's childish behavior. "Make him leave and then we can talk."
Neah immediately stood from his chair and threw Tyki bodily from the room. He even locked the door behind him. When he returned to his seat in front of the computer, he just stared expectantly at me. I floundered for a moment before I finally found my voice. "There's no need for a wedding. We went down to city hall this morning."
Neah's eyes went so wide it looked like they might fall out of his head. "You're scaring me, Allison. What's really going on?"
I let out another heavy sigh before I decided to just rip off the bandage. "I'm pregnant."
There was silence on the other end of the call. When I finally gathered the courage to look at the screen, Neah had gone deathly pale. I could see him breathing, so I knew that the video hadn't frozen, but he wasn't moving at all. It wasn't the explosive reaction I had expected to get, but it was at least one that made sense.
I tried to get his attention, but after a few minutes of trying with absolutely nothing to show for it, I ignored the video feed and turned my focus on my homework. Neah would respond when he was ready, but until then, I could at least try to do something productive with my time.
But when bedtime rolled around and Neah still hadn't moved, I gave up. After one last attempt to get his attention, I hung up on him and went to bed.
