Chapter 41

A while later Carly and Sage had just finished watching the dvd when Jack walked in through the front door. With a smile on his face he sat down on the couch next to Carly;" What are you guys doing?"

"We were watching the dvd from when you and mom got married in Montana and I was born." replied Sage before her mother had a chance to answer as she suddenly hit the replay button and got up;" Why don't you two watch it again and I will finish up cleaning in the kitchen, mom."

"I think that our daughter is trying to make a point or something." laughed her father, but stopped when he saw the look on Carly's face;" I was just joking."

"No, you weren't and I know exactly why sage is doing this, Jack. All she has ever wanted was for us to get back together again." sighed she and got up;" She hated the fact that you were with Janet."

"So did you." answered Jack, but regretted saying that as soon as the words left his mouth. He got up as well as he tried to stop Carly when she wanted to walk away;" It's going to be okay again. I will get my divorce and we will be together again, for good this time."

"How can you be so sure of that?" asked his ex-wife suddenly angry while she walked out the door, on to the patio, not wanting Sage to hear their conversation;" It's not like we haven't been through this before, Jack. How can you be sure that this time it will be for good?"

"Because I'm not letting you go ever again." said he and pulled Carly into his arms;" Why can't you just believe me?"

"Maybe because we have been down this road before and I have heard you say those words before." replied Carly tired, pulling away from him again;" Maybe I'm just tired of it all."

"This time will be different. I wish you would just believe me!" sighed her ex-husband frustrated as she suddenly walked back into the house;" Carly….."

"I'm tired. Maybe you should go home." said she, turning around as she stood in the doorway;" Goodnight."

"Carly…." answered Jack surprised and wanted to stop her, but before he could she'd already closed the door. With Carly closing the door before he had a chance to stop her or go after her there was nothing left for him to do then to leave. He knew that at that point there was no point in talking to her.

Down at the hospital Liberty had fallen asleep and Janet was about to go home when Dusty showed up;" Hey."

"What are you doing here?" asked Janet annoyed and quickly pulled Dusty with her, out of Liberty's room;" Do you want somebody to find out or something?"

"No, ofcourse not." answered her friend surprised about her reaction;" I only came to see how Liberty's doing and to see if you were okay, Janet. That's all."

"Sorry." replied she with a sigh;" I guess I'm just a bit unedged because of everything."

"It's going to be okay again." promised Dusty as he put his arm around Janet, in an attempt to comfort her;" I promise."

"Don't!" warned his friend him and quickly pulled away from him;" I don't want people to get the wrong idea, Dusty! I'm still married to Jack."

"All I'm trying to do here is comfort you. Why is that so wrong?" asked he annoyed;" And as far your marriage to Jack. What marriage? He wants to be with somebody else and I thought that you did too but maybe I was wrong. Maybe I was nothing more than a shoulder to cry on."

"That isn't true and you damn well know that!" answered Janet as she quickly followed him as he walked away, towards the elevator;" Don't walk away, Dusty."

"If you really want to be with me then why do you even care who knows about it, Janet?" said her friend and got onto the elevator with her;" It's not like jack is making it a secret that he wants to be with Carly."

"As if that lush is going to make him happy." replied she angry;" She will break his heart again like she did before."

"Even if that is so why do you even care?" asked Dusty as they got off the elevator in the parking-garage;" Do you want to know what I think, Janet? I think that you're just using me to feel better while you wait for Jack to change his mind and come back to you! You don't really want me! You want him, even after everything that has happened!"

"No, that isn't true!" answered his friend while she quickly stopped him and put her arms around his neck;" I want you, Dusty! I really do!"

"Do you?" sighed he;" Do you really?"

"I do!" said Janet and kissed him;" I'm sorry for being such a bitch."

"It's okay. I know that everything with Liberty and Jack is getting to you." replied Dusty as he put his arms around Janet and kissed her back;" I shouldn't be pushing you into something that you're not ready for."

"Thank you for understanding." smiled his friend, kissing him again;" And for being so patience."
