Forty-One: The One He Hated

Kili and Fili called for the best person to be able to help them, Thomas III the son of their cousin Dain had done something stupid and called for their help. He had his friend but had ended up stuck in a drug den. They couldn't just go on their own without their uncle finding out and them getting into much trouble to get out of it. So, they called in the only person that could help them.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Hey Joan, we wanted to know if you could come with us?" Fili said.

"Where?" Joan asked surprised.

"Ugh, can we tell you when you go with us?"

"Sure," Joan said grabbing her coat and walking down the stairs, Sherlock out of her mind.

Joan arrived with the boys to the place and she looked at them.

"Don't judge him, he got stuck here with his friend," Kili told her.

"I don't know boys; Dain is not going to be happy with this?" Joan said.

"He didn't do anything, we promise," Fili told her.

"We'll see stay here and I'll get him," Joan said. She walked inside the building and noticed that this would be bad.

"Hello, I'm looking for Thomas?" Joan said as she saw a skinny guy.

"Who?"

"Thomas, young boy with short hair sort of built," Joan said, and she noticed how the man got a bit tough. She walked past him and noticed that he was coming behind her.

"Thomas!"

"I wouldn't do that if I were you?" He touched her shoulder and she reacted instantly; when she got a flash of who he was.

"Augh, you hurt me, I think you broke my hand," he said going down.

"I didn't break it, I sprained it, don't worry I'm a doctor," Joan said. "Now did you see a young boy,"

"He is up there," he told her.

"Thank you," Joan said climbing up the stairs.

She noticed some of the bodies there and knew that it was going to be a little hard to get Thomas.

"Thomas!" she said.

"Dr. Watson," he said standing up looking guilty. Joan moved to him and began to check him over to see that he hadn't taken anything.

"I'm alright, I was just left here without money, Shezza helped," Thomas III told her.

"Let's take you home," Joan said.

"Did you come for me too?" She turned around to see Sherlock laying there.

"Sherlock!"

The cab ride was quiet as the three boys were looking at the couple. Joan had not said a word at all as she made sure the boys were going to get home on time.

"Thank you for helping us Joan," Fili said.

"No problem at all," Joan said looking at him before turning to Thomas III. "I do hope you realize this was incredibly stupid,"

"Yes ma'am," Thomas said looking at the floor.

"It's not like he did anything," Sherlock said.

"That is not the point!" Joan snapped. "You know what, we are going to St. Barts all of us to check both you and Thomas," The cabby just made the turn.

"You are acting a bit violent for someone that just broke my hand," Billy said.

"I didn't break anything, I sprained it and if you don't want something actually broke, I would keep my mouth shut," Joan said and all the boys looked down, the only one that kept her gaze was Sherlock.

Molly was surprised when the boys got inside, and they seemed to be sending her looks of danger.

"Are you boys okay?" Molly asked.

"We are just…we are so sorry Molly," Fili told her.

"What do you mean?" Molly asked but she just saw as Sherlock came in and Joan was behind him.

"Hello Molly," Joan said.

"Okay, let's start," Molly said slightly disappointed. If Sherlock had begun to use and knowing Joan, she would blame herself for this.

The good thing was that Thomas the elder was able to come for the boys and he looked at his namesake with pity.

"Your Father is waiting for you, he is not happy but as a Durin, you must face your consequences," Thomas said not looking at Sherlock and Joan.

"Oh, don't act like this doesn't make you happy," they all turned to Billy.

"Excuse me," Thomas said with a raised brow.

"You seemed to not want to see Sheeza and I would say it was out of pity, but you are trying not to gloat," Billy said. "You turned to see Doctor Watson a couple of time as if both of you were sweethearts, but everyone of knows of the love story she has with Sheeza and you don't want your face to show that you are kind of glad this happens,"

"I don't…"

"Face it you care deeply for Doctor Watson and know that Sheeza just fell down the pedestal you are trying not to offer comfort," Billy said. Sherlock and Joan were looking at Thomas, Sherlock noticed the way his fist curled and knew that just because the boys were here, or Billy would have gotten punched.

"I do want to comfort her, as she deserves happiness," Thomas said looking at Joan. "She also knows that she can come to us if she needs to,"

"I know," Joan said. "Now, Sherlock and I are leaving, please stay out of trouble boys, Thomas if you could help Billy get to wherever it is, he is going,"

"I will," Thomas said. "Boys call a cab,"

"We will meet you their Uncle," Kili said.

"What will happen though if Joan leaves Sherlock?" Molly asked.

"We will just be comforting a distraught Joan and making sure Sherlock doesn't burn London down," Thomas said and heard his phone vibrate.

'Now isn't this interesting-M.'

Thomas looked at the information and he knew that it would be something that he would have to take care of.

Sherlock and Joan arrived to an extremely disappointed Mycroft.

"Really brother, if you didn't want to get married you could have just said so," Mycroft said, and Sherlock snapped. He was smacked into the wall.

"Don't appall me when I'm high brother," Sherlock snapped. Joan looked at the two brothers.

"Mycroft just keep quiet because he can break you in half and right now seems like he wants to," Joan said. Sherlock let him go and Mycroft fixed his suit as best as he could. With Mycroft gone and making sure that he was gone, Joan turned to Sherlock.

'Now that he is gone, if you didn't want to marry me, you could have come up with a healthier way to break our engagement," Joan said.

"It's for a case," Sherlock said.

'What kind of case is the cause for this!" Joan snapped.

"I needed to get the attention of the vilest man, I hate him," Sherlock told her.

"You hate him," Joan said.

"Yes, he is the most appalling human being I have ever met and if I was still a dragon, he would have died more than anything," Sherlock told her. "He is like me, uses his mind but to break people and cause people more damage than anyone, and I got his attention,"

"Sherlock, not again," Joan said looking at him knowing this might turned how they expect.
