Background:
Olivia and Ed Tucker were married happily. They had a baby boy (Noah Porter Benson) and then two years later they had a baby girl (Kassidy Olivia Tucker).
Ed kidnaps her from Olivia and moves to Paris. When Kassidy is five, her father is murdered in front of her. The murderers stage it as a suicide. Kassidy is too scared to talk to the police, so the murderers aren't caught. Years later, Kassidy is living in New York when suddenly there was a knock at her door. There's nobody there but two young children (one year and newborn). Later it's discovered that these children are her niece and nephew (renamed by Kassidy: Bodhi Edwin and Hollis Kirstin). Kassidy is visited by her brother (alias Porter), then he calls numerous times from different payphones. She later learns that Lieutenant Benson found a familiar match to Kassidy. It's Lieutenant Benson herself. She is Kassidy's biological mother. Later Kassidy delivers a message to Olivia for Noah. She refuses to talk to Olivia unless it pertains to Noah or Bodhi and Hollis. Eventually after much persistence from Olivia, Kassidy decides to hear the woman out. Someone from Kassidy's past shows up (Leah, old foster sister). Kassidy starts putting some pieces together.
Leah's biological mother was killed by her biological father and his brother.
Reason: Leah's biological mom took Leah away from biological dad
Leah's biological dad killed Kassidy's father
Reason: Ed wasn't a fan of his. Ed made enemies working in IAB.
Theory: Leah's biological dad killed Noah's wife and is after him and his family
Reason: undiscovered/unknown
Synopsis: 19 year old Kassidy Tucker finds two kids on her doorstep one night. A DNA test to find the childrens' parents leading to secrets from Kassidy's past being exposed. How will Kassidy deal with all the unraveling secrets?
Ch. 1: Abandoned kids
After arriving home from work and while starting to get ready for bed, Kassidy Tucker hears a knock on the door of her New York apartment.
"Who is it?" Nineteen year old Kassidy asked as she walked towards the door. There was no response.
Kassidy sighed softly and looked through the peephole. Her eyes went wide when she saw two babies on her doorstep. She quickly opens the door to bring the two little ones inside.
In the carseat of the newborn baby boy, Kassidy notices a note. She picks up the older of the two babies, a little girl about one year old, then picks up the carseat, and takes the two little ones inside.
After bringing them inside, Kassidy places them on her bed and then reads the note, which says: 'Take care of my babies. Protect them. They're in danger with me. P.s. just change their names. There is too much of a risk for them to keep their own.'
The little girl babbled as she toddled around the apartment, while her baby brother slept soundly in his carseat.
Kassidy picks up the newborn boy from his carseat and places him on the bed. She arranges pillows around him for protection and insurance.
Then Kassidy picked up the one year old girl, "Oh you're such a cutie pie. I just have to give you a name, baby girl.
The little girl babbled at Kassidy before yawning and then rubbing her eyes.
"Someone's tired I see." Kassidy stated as she cradled the toddler girl, rocked her, and sang 'Lullaby' by Dixie Chicks to the little girl until she was sleeping peacefully.
When the little girl was sleeping, Kassidy lays the toddler on the bed before kissing her forehead. Kassidy watched the sleeping babies as she tried to think of names for the precious little boy and girl.
"Caelum or Callum…Kade. Baylen…Karsyn." Kassidy listened as she whispered to herself before shaking her head, "No. None of these seem right for this precious baby boy."
"Hmm…maybe Brysen." Kassidy spoke again before shaking her head again, "No." Then she had an 'aha!' moment, "I've got it. Bodhi Edwin. That's your name, baby boy." Then she added, "Now to name your sister."
Kassidy stared at the toddler girl and thought of girls names, "Skyla….Skylin….What about Amara? Or Hollis?" Then she smiled softly, "Yeah. I like that. Hollis…it's beautiful. It's perfect. Hollis Kirstin."
Then Kassidy finally laid down in bed and after watching the two youngsters sleep for a few minutes, she fell asleep herself.
Ch. 2: Reported crime
The next morning, Kassidy wakes up and starts getting ready for the day. Bodhi wakes up and cries, and in turn wakes his sister Hollis.
Kassidy picks up Bodhi and rocks him while fishing in the diaper bag for a bottle and some formula. She makes a bottle for Bodhi, heats it until lukewarm, and then feeds it to the baby boy.
Bodhi sucked on his bottle as he drank his milk.
"Dada!" Hollis cried
Kassidy sighed softly and rubbed the toddler's back, "No, sweet girl. I'm not your dada. I'm sorry. I don't know where your dada is."
"Dada." Hollis whined
Kassidy gave a soft smile and motioned to the toddler, "Come here, Hol. Come let me hold you, Hollis." She wants to use the name as much as possible, so the little girl gets used to the name.
Hollis crawled over to Kassidy, who helped the little girl stand and held her close. Hollis cuddled close to Kassidy.
When Bodhi stopped sucking on his bottle, Kassidy used both hands to bring him up to her shoulder and burped him.
Kassidy changed Bodhi's diaper and then changed his clothes into an outfit that she found in the diaper bag. Next she headed to her kitchen and got a bowl of cheerios for Hollis. She sat the little girl down on a blanket on the floor with the bowl of cheerios. She laid Bodhi down by his sister with some pillows loosely bordering the newborn boy. Then Kassidy headed to her room to change her clothes. After changing, she got a bowl of cereal for herself and then sat down with Hollis and Bodhi.
Half an hour later, Kassidy was heading out the door with the two kids. She took the subway to the Manhattan Police station, the sixteenth precinct. Upon arriving, she walks inside carrying Hollis on her hip and Bodhi in his carseat.
"Hello? How can I help you?" A blonde woman asked Kassidy.
Kassidy gave a nod, "Yes, I'm Kassidy Tucker. These two little ones were dropped off at the doorstep of my apartment last night with an unsigned note."
"So you'd like to report an abandonment?" The blonde woman clarified.
Kassidy nodded, "Yes."
"Okay I'll help you with that. Just follow me to this room." The blonde woman said as she led Kassidy to the children's room "I'm Detective Amanda Rollins by the way."
Upon entering, Kassidy set the carseat down and then put Hollyn on the floor so she could play and explore.
"Okay so tell me what happened?" Amanda declared
Kassidy shrugged, "There's not much to tell. I heard a knock at my door, and then I looked through the peephole. I didn't see anyone, so I opened the door and that's when I saw these two little ones. I took them inside and noticed the note inside the car seat." She took the note out of the diaper bag and handed it to Amanda.
Amanda read the note and then looked up at Kassidy, "This is very vague. It's not even signed. Do you know anyone who would do this?"
"No. None of my friends have kids." Kassidy replied
"Okay. Well I'll call Social Services to come get the kids." Amanda stated
Kassidy looked at the two innocent kids and then looked back at Amanda, "What if I said I wanted temporary custody? You know just until their parents are found. Obviously someone trusted me with these precious babies, I feel like it's my duty to take care of them."
"Um…you'd have to talk to social services about that." Amanda informed. Then she added, "Our M.E. is going to have to take a DNA sample from the children. It will help us with finding the parents."
"Okay. That's fine with me." Kassidy agreed, "Could you take a DNA sample from me just in case I am related to whoever these kids' parents are?" She wanted to know why the kids were left on her doorstep.
Amanda nodded, "Yeah of course."
Ch. 3: ACS
After finishing up at the precinct and the kid's DNA sample as well as Kassidy's are taken, Kassidy heads to ACS with Bodhi and Hollyn. The reason that Kassidy had a sample of her DNA taken as well was because she was just curious to see if maybe she was related to the kids. When she was young, it had just been her and her dad. She never knew her mom. Maybe her mother had other kids. Maybe one of those kids had kids.
Upon arriving at ACS, Kassidy walks in carrying Hollis on her hip and with Bodhi in his infant car seat. She sits down in the waiting room until someone can attend to her. It wasn't long until Kassidy was pulled back by the assistant manager, Lovanna Pyre, who had been Kassidy's social worker.
"LoLo?" Kassidy questioned
"Kassie?" Lovanna looked at the young lady quizzically.
Kassidy smiled, "Yeah LoLo, it's me. It's Kassie."
"What are you doing here?" Lovanna asked. She looked at the two babies, "You have kids?"
Kassidy shook her head, "No. I'm only nineteen. They were abandoned on my doorstep last night."
"Well, let me help you." Lovanna said as she reached over and took the car seat from Kassidy. "So what are these two cuties names?"
"Don't know, but I named them. The baby in the car seat is Bodhi Edwin and the little girl is Hollis Kirstin." Kassidy said
"Those are beautiful names." Lovanna commented
Kassidy gave a nod, "Thank you, but I need to get temporary guardianship of these two kids, because someone wants me to take care of these kids and I need to honor that."
"Alright. Follow me to my office. I'll have some paperwork for you to sign and then you'll be good to go." Lovanna said, "Do you know who the biological parents are?"
"No. I don't know anyone with kids, so why my doorstep...that's still a mystery to me."
Lovanna hummed as she gave a shrug, "Well, whatever the reason, obviously someone trusted you with these two sweet babies."
"Yeah." Kassidy agreed, looking at Bodhi and Hollis, "I just got to figure out who."
Ch. 4: DNA Results
A week later, Kassidy is called to the police station because the results of the children's DNA are in. And so are hers. Kassidy arrives at the police station where she is escorted to the M.E.'s office by Lieutenant Olivia Benson.
"So Hollis and Bodhi's DNA matched to someone's in our system." Melinda Warner explained
Kassidy nodded, "Whose?"
Melinda looked at Olivia, "Yours. The DNA shows that you are a close relative on the paternal side. Most likely a grandmother."
"Noah." Olivia mumbled
Kassidy turned and stared at Olivia, "Who's Noah?"
"My son." Olivia informed. Noah was her son, but she hadn't seen him in over two years. Since his wedding day.
"There's more." Melinda added as she looked at Kassidy, "You are also a close relative on the paternal side. Most likely an aunt. Your DNA also matched Olivia's. Kassidy, Olivia is your mother."
"What?" Kassidy replied shocked, "That can't be. My mother's name was Kassidy. I was named after her. She died giving birth to me."
Olivia looked at the young woman, "Who told you that?"
"My father. Ed Tucker." Kassidy said
Olivia sighed, "He lied to you, honey. You were never supposed to be named Kassidy. I wanted to name you Kensie."
Kassidy blinked her eyes and shook her head, "I...I can't do this."
Kassidy ran out of the M.E.'s office, collected the kids from Amanda who had been watching them, and then she ran out of the police precinct. She was feeling so many emotions all at once. She felt confused and betrayed. She couldn't believe that her father had lied to her. 'Why would he lie about her mother?' She thought.
There was no way that her dad would have lied to her about that. He loved her. He was a good father. 'The DNA test had to be wrong.' She thought.
That night after Kassidy put the babies to sleep, she couldn't stop thinking about the DNA test results. About all the moments in the first five years of her life that lead up to her dad's murder, wondering if all the moving around that they did was really to hide from some bad guys like he had told her. Or if it was to keep off of her mother's radar. She was doubting everything and there was no way she could know the truth for sure.
Hope you enjoy. Comments are greatly appreciated.
