The first part of Saturday is here. =)
Edward was pulled from sleep by something wet touching his stomach. His muscles contracted, bracing himself for the blow. When a finger touched the middle of his chest, his hand flew up, stilling the wrist of the unwanted hand on his body.
"Fuck." Bella's soft curse, made Edward's eyes fly open. Her eyes were wide and filled with sorrow. "I didn't think."
"Fuck," he echoed her curse word, squeezing his eyes shut. He had enough presence of mind to drop her hand, too.
"I'm so sorry, Edward." He could feel her hovering above him, not touching him at all.
Edward cursed Siobhan to the deepest pits of hell, inside his head. He dreaded covering that time in therapy with Jasper. His friend would awaken monsters Edward wasn't ready to face.
Taking a deep breath, Edward opened his eyes, fixating his gaze on Bella's hand – lax at his side. He took it, placing it slowly on his chest. "I'm okay," he whispered.
"You're not," Bella sobbed.
"Fucking shit. Stop this," he demanded.
She leaned closer until her head was tucked under his chin. Her tears slid down his neck.
"Bella, it's not your fault I'm half the man you deserve to have."
She clung to his body, as sobs rocked through her. Edward could only rub her back, glowering at his traitorous body.
Could he train himself to accept her touch, without freaking out at the unexpected gesture? Was that even possible?
He didn't usually have a problem with Bella touching him, in general. Granted, he usually saw her move before her hand came in contact with his body.
When her crying subsided, Edward pulled away enough to look into her eyes. "Now, what were you planning on doing?" he teased, hoping his voice didn't sound as strained as he heard it.
"Forget it," she mumbled, sniffing loudly, before planting a wet kiss on his throat.
"No, come on."
"I rarely wake up before you. I thought I could make it a memorable morning…" She scowled in chagrin. "…it seems I managed to make it memorable somehow else."
Edward chose to focus on the positive part of her plan. "How about you show me?" He closed back his eyes. "Pretend I'm asleep," he added, when she didn't move.
"Are you sure? After…that."
"Make it memorable," he insisted.
When her lips kissed his abdomen, he gasped, but it wasn't in fright. Bella paused for a long moment, before resuming, kissing a wet trail to his hipbone. She pushed away the blanket, and the cool air made him shudder, as his otherwise naked body was exposed to her. One of her hands grabbed the base of his erection, making him groan in pleasure.
Next thing he knew, Bella's warm mouth was taking him halfway in her mouth.
Edward allowed himself a moment of self-loathing for not being able to enjoy this as a surprise, but all too soon, rational thoughts fled from his mind. When Edward was sure, he wouldn't be able to hold his release, Bella pulled away, straddling his lap.
His hands went to her waist immediately, pulling her closer and kissing her deeply, as she started moving slowly on top of him.
His eyes flew open when a thought occurred to him. It was her birthday.
Edward refused to let the beginning of the morning ruin their day, as he flipped her over, trapping her arms above her head. "Keep them there," he commanded.
Bella threw her head back, exposing her throat, which Edward took full advantage to pepper kisses all over it. He lifted her hips off the bed, wrapping her legs around his waist, as he starting moving urgently inside her. He doubted he could ever get used to how hot and tight she felt around him.
"I think…" she cried out, her wrists turning white at how hard she was gripping the headboard.
"Come," he encouraged her. It would be the first of many times he planned on making her come that day.
Her body seized up, and she shouted his name. Her voice broke, somehow echoing in the quiet house. Then she started giggling madly, bringing a hand to her mouth.
Edward chuckled, pushing her hand back to the headboard. "I think it's too early to wake the whole house, baby."
Her face turned red, and soon she started gasping his name, as their lovemaking brought her closer to another release. She took him with her this time.
Bella trailed a finger across his chest, as he stilled above her, allowing the orgasm to wash over his body. "You're so fucking hot when you come," she whispered. Her fingers wrapped in his hair, pulling his head closer, kissing him roughly.
"I think that's a compliment no one's ever addressed me," Edward said, laughing.
"Well, you are," she insisted.
"So are you," he whispered against her lips. "I can't get enough of seeing you fall apart in my arms."
Bella sucked in a breath. "Can we play later?"
"You don't have to ask. We can do anything you want," he promised.
"That's a dangerous promise."
"Don't temp me, Bella. You have plans."
"Oh!" She rolled on her side to retrieve her phone. "Shoot! It's almost nine! I swear, it was seven when I woke up."
Edward allowed her to get out of the bed, watching her amused, as she rushed to the bathroom, only to return and grab a scrunchy from the bedside table. She pointed a finger at him, making him raise his hands, chuckling.
"Don't follow me!"
"Aye, ma'am." He mock-saluted.
"Ass," she grumbled, closing the bathroom door.
Edward was tempted to follow her after watching her silhouette through the glass parts in the door. With difficulty, he left the room after tugging on his sleep pants.
Tanya was flipping pancakes, with Felix close by. He seemed to be in her way, considering she kept whacking him with the dishtowel on his arm. Edward was about to ask what the special occasion was, because Tanya seldom made pancakes. He choked on his words, when Felix wrapped an arm around Tanya's middle, kissing her cheek.
They turned to him, alerted by his presence from the noise he'd made.
How long had they hidden their relationship?
Had Edward been that blind to not see them developing feelings for each other? Not like he minded.
"Please, don't burn the pancakes," Edward warned.
Tanya's wide eyes returned to the pan. Felix kept staring at him.
"Why do you look like I'm going to behead you?" Edward frowned, walking closer.
"We thought this was against policy," Felix answered in a wary voice.
"We've been talking about telling you," Tanya added in a shaky voice.
"God, relax. Both of you!" Edward poured himself a cup of coffee, grateful for the already prepared one.
"Told you, he wouldn't care," Felix said, relaxing visibly.
Tanya turned to him, hands on her hips. Edward chose to take two steps back, away from the potential war zone.
"As long as it doesn't interfere with your work," Edward said, amused. "And it's interfering right now, Tanya. Those poor pancakes…"
She huffed, stopping herself on time from whacking Edward himself with the dishtowel. Edward only laughed.
Felix caught his eyes, grinning. "Women," he groaned, rolling his eyes.
"Get out of my kitchen! Both of you!"
"Come on. I'd rather eat those pancakes without the taste of burn on them," Edward said, steering Felix away from the kitchen.
They ended up in the backyard, where they played with Harley until they decided it was safe to return inside for breakfast. Edward wasn't going to ask Felix how it happened, because, rationally, Felix and Tanya getting together made sense. They were both lonely and they rarely left the house for their own pleasure, even though Edward gave them enough free time to do it.
Bella was dressed for the day, which meant, she was about ready to leave. Her jean shorts were so low cut that part of her ass was visible. Edward bit his tongue in order to keep himself from sending her back to change her clothes. She had on one of his t-shirts, which she seemed to enjoy wearing as much as he enjoyed seeing them on her.
"No, really," Bella protested, when Tanya pushed a plate in front of her.
"You should humor Tanya," Edward told her, stifling a smile. "She rarely make pancakes."
"And they have my tears all over them," Felix joked.
Tanya snapped the spatula across the counter. Unfortunately, it didn't have the desired effected, when it snapped in half.
"That will be your ass next time," Tanya spat, glaring at Felix.
Edward leaned into the counter, gasping for air as he laughed harder. Felix sat quietly on an empty stool, as far away from Tanya, as possible.
"Breathe, Edward," Bella giggled, her cheeks turning pink.
He shook his head, unable to get a grip of himself. His employees knew enough about his lifestyle, but Edward knew that Tanya hadn't meant it that way. Though, the image of her smacking Felix with the spatula sent Edward in a fresh round of laughter.
Eventually, Edward climbed on the stool next to Bella, calming minutely. His amused eyes met Tanya's, who was watching him passively. She seemed to not take any bullshit from anyone today.
Edward had to get back in her good graces if he wanted her to help with the surprise party.
"May I?" He gestured to the pancakes.
Her teeth clashed together.
"Careful, they might be salty from Felix's tears." She pushed the plate closer to Edward.
That comment pushed Edward into a new round of laughter. "When did it get so entertaining around here?"
"When you hired the she-devil," Felix whispered, leaning into Edward's side. "Crap." His eyes went to Tanya, because he hadn't been as quiet as he'd desired.
"Spare him, Tanya. For now," Edward joked. "I have to talk to you both after Bella leaves."
Bella gasped. "Shit. I'm late!" she said around her piece of pancake. "Thanks, Tanya. You should make pancakes more often," she added, after swallowing. She turned to Edward, kissing him softly. "Later!"
"Hey!" Edward stopped her, making her stumble, but he caught her easily, bringing her between his legs. "Happy birthday!"
Bella winced. "I was hoping you'd forgotten."
"We just talked about this last night. How could I?"
"I'm not a big fan of birthdays. You sure about bringing Jimmy over?" She rocked on the balls of her feet. "I'm really late!"
"Sure, bring him over. Go!" He playfully smacked her ass.
"No," Bella snapped, glaring at him, over her shoulder.
"What the hell got into them today?" Felix wondered, taking a couple pancakes.
Edward noticed Tanya had left, which made him wonder where she'd disappeared to. They had a party to plan.
"Where's Tanya?"
"She said something about the bathroom." Felix nodded down the hallway. "What's up?"
"We have a couple of hours to get everything ready. Alice and Jasper should be here any minute with everything we bought yesterday." Edward saw Tanya returning. "We're going to throw Bella a birthday party."
Tanya froze in her tracks. "You should have told me in advance, sir."
"In two hours? With all due respect, have you lost your mind?" Felix stared at him with wide eyes.
The doorbell rang, which meant Bella had clearly seen Jasper's car on the way to town. Tanya went to answer the door, while Felix chewed on his pancakes, looking thoughtful.
"Come on. Between the five of us, we can do it." Edward nudged him with his elbow.
Alice ambled inside, carrying several bags.
"Morning!" she chirped.
"Morning." Edward rose his cup of coffee in greeting.
Jasper followed with several more bags, before returning to the car. It seemed like Alice had done a little more shopping in the meantime.
It didn't take long to get organized. Felix offered to hang the garlands, Alice went to help Tanya in the kitchen, while Edward was stuck with Jasper wrapping what was left of the many presents Alice had bought Bella.
Jasper handed Edward a jewelry box. "See if it's how you wanted it. We had to turn around because Alice remembered too late that you'd left this at the jewelry shop to get it adjusted." Jasper rolled his eyes.
Edward opened his present for Bella, once again, admiring the fragile white gold bracelet. He'd seen it in passing while shopping with Alice the previous day. He planned on adding many charms to it, but so far, he'd only bought a small heart-shaped diamond.
"It's perfect."
"I suggest you never mention to Bella that's a real diamond," he warned.
"It's not the only diamond she's going to wear if I have something to say in that," Edward said contemplatively.
Jasper promptly dropped the bag he was holding. "You're serious?"
"I'm aware it feels like we just met, but I can't see myself without her."
"You got it bad."
Edward rolled his eyes. "Don't I know it? I even invited her pothead of a friend."
Jasper chuckled, patting Edward's shoulder. "Come on. Let's finish these."
"Give me ten minutes to shower and get dressed properly."
See you on Saturday for the birthday party.
