Author's Note: Hey y'all! I hope you're doing great!

Sorry I've been inactive for a while. I saw all the reviews asking for an update a few minutes ago and I feel kinda bad. Here's why: my friend was admitted to a hospital after some sort of serious relapse, and he's currently in a drug-induced coma. He's showing signs of recovery, although they're not sure if they can wake him up yet because there might be some lingering side effects. I was really depressed for a few weeks because he is like a brother to me.

Thank you all for your support! But enough about my problems, enjoy the chapter, and please leave a review!

The day after began in much the same way. Sophie and Keefe woke up and went down to get breakfast. Bacon and eggs, and although elves were vegetarians, Sophie ate the bacon. She needed comfort, and the bacon smelled delicious. Then, they went to the clock tower. They were taken to that testing lab with Gisela again. The testing, pain, flashbacks to the Ability Restrictor. And then they returned to their room.

Sophie had nightmares almost every night, and her echo, which she had thought was gone, was making a reappearance. It wasn't as strong or malicious as before, but it was still there. Keefe woke up every night to her screaming, or crying, or vomiting in the toilet. He didn't ask her about it, since he could feel all her emotions anyway, since through some strange connection, he could read her thoughts. He just held her hair back and helped her back into bed, and let her know that he was there if she ever needed to talk.

For the next few days, that was their life. Over and over and over. Until, one day, Sophie shook Keefe awake at 2 am.

"Keefe," she said. "Keefe!"

He sat up groggily and mumbled, "Don't you ever sleep? I feel bad for Edaline and Grady."

She ignored the way her heart winced at their names, tried to pretend there weren't memories flashing through her head of all the time she'd spent with them.

"I have an idea of how we're going to get out," Sophie said.

Keefe raised an eyebrow, suddenly wide awake. "Oh?"

She nodded.

"That's great, Soph!"

Sophie sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, which was messy from sleep. "You're not gonna like it."
