(Chapter 42)
(Undisclosed Location)
All for One held back a sigh as he wiped the blood off of his hands. Around him were the bloodied remains of gang members. "This could have been an enlightening encounter, young man. But as with your youth, you're too much of a liability to keep." The leader of the unnamed gang was limp in his chair with blood pouring out of his neck.
All for One, despite being a teacher, still had his responsibilities in the underbelly of society. Typically, he wouldn't get directly involved with such trivial gangs. But he recognized the risk this group posed if left unchecked. Looking himself over, All for One gave an exhausted sigh, 'I pray you never see me like this, Midoriya.' He could only imagine the look of horror if she ever witnessed his true power. Izuku had little comprehension of his wrath. All Might, Gran Torino, and many others were right to call him a monster.
'That old man had best hurry with his return.' Kuro's thoughts drifted to Gran Torino. He knew he still had to tell All Might and him about Tomura. Though deep down, All for One wanted to slaughter the boy for his attempt to disintegrate Izuku at the USJ. All for One's jaw was slightly clenched. He was only doing this for Izuku's wellbeing. Like a beetle digging into his head, something inside him cannot stand the possibility of Izuku being hurt emotionally because of All Might and him. He has to accept that he'll have to share Midoriya.
As All for One left the building, his footsteps echoing throughout the loud structure, he felt the continuous need for Midoriya to be next to him. His obsession was spiraling out of control, and every encounter with Izuku grew worse. What with her tender touch and innocent personality, it was becoming increasingly difficult to suppress his true nature. 'I warned you, Little One. I have a deep obsession with things I want. Yet, despite my warnings, you encourage me to embrace it.' His stomach felt light, and a pleasuring burn gnawed at his heart. The tips of his fingers turned black as his quirk activated against his will. Kuro's mind was plagued with their night of passion after the gala. His red eyes glowed brightly as he walked through the shadows of the building.
The gnawing hunger in his chest grew the longer he dwelled on Izuku. It was this desire that he was afraid of. All for One didn't want to lose control of himself, not like he had when taking people's quirks. Walking out of the building, Shigaraki panted softly as lustful fantasies blossomed in the back of his mind. 'I look forward to our next meeting alone, Midoriya… oh what pleasures I have planned for you.'
All for One had yet to learn about what was happening in Hosu.
(Meanwhile in Hosu)
Izuku ran as fast as she could, "Iida, where are you!?" Her heart was pounding as adrenaline-filled her veins. If something were to happen to Iida, she'd never forgive herself. 'Please don't try and find Stain, Iida. You're not strong enough against him.' The Hero Killer had murdered and incapacitated several powerful heroes, and Iida was only a first-year at UA. She didn't doubt his ability, but being alone was still dangerous.
Closing her eyes, Izuku forced her magic into her legs and winced as they burned. 'I hate using magic like this.' Such raw power isn't meant to be used like this. Rushing past another alley, Izuku noticed a glimmer of light reflecting off a blade. Time seemed to stop as she turned to look. Iida was pinned under Stain's foot, and he was clearly intending on killing him. "No!" Running faster than she thought possible, her fist came into contact with Stain's jaw, sending him flying down the alley, where he landed on his feet.
Stain frowned and looked at the petty woman who punched him, 'That girl. She's the one from the Sports Festival.'
Izuku glanced down at Iida, "Iida, get up."
Iida struggled to move, "I can't… move my body." The pool of blood slowly grew more extensive, "Ever since he cut me… I think it's his quirk." Every word was like fighting an invisible force.
Despite Izuku's immense knowledge of quirks, she did not know what Stain's was. 'Just because I'm a wizard doesn't mean I'm immune to quirks.' Briefly glancing to the side, she noticed the pro hero Native. 'That's Native! What is he doing here?' Izuku braced herself against the challenge ahead. 'If it had just been Iida, I could have picked him up and carried him away myself.' apparition was out of the question. She could risk worsening their wounds through the apparitional-plane.
"M~midoriya! D~don't get involved. This doesn't have anything to do with you."
Izuku quickly glanced at Iida and gave a gentle smile, despite how dangerous the situation was. "My friend is hurt… so yes, it does involve me."
Stain looked at her, "You showed up to save your friend's life, who even made a big entrance. It guaranteed the weaker of us would be culled." His gaze made her feel slightly intimidated. "So what will you do?"
Izuku instantly thought back to something Toshinori said at the USJ about villains calling their actions noble. 'He's different from the villains at the USJ.' Stain was driven by a deep ideology of purging fake heroes from society. The scary truth was she did understand Stain's motives. Being a fangirl of so many pro heroes, it was unavoidable that she would hear stories some heroes wanted to keep away from the public eye. Corruption, bribing, domestic violence, all while acting like an angel in front of the public.
Reaching into her back pocket, Izuku pulled out a small white card, 'Think… who should send for help?' All Might was busy with Nomu, so he was out of the question, and Sensei was too far away. Closing her eyes, she focused on a particular name as her location was inscribed onto the tiny card. 'I only have one of these. Please, Merlin, let him be close.' Letting go of the card, it floated freely behind her back before darting down the alley, seeking its recipient. Iida had witnessed everything even though he was still bound to the ground.
Iida was still trying to speak reason to Izuku, "Stand down, run away. I told you this has nothing to do with you!" He grunted out.
Izuku couldn't believe what she heard from Iida, "Then why are you trying to become a hero? The essence of being a hero is meddling when you don't need to." That was something Toshinori said to her, and she took it to heart.
Stain had a confused look on his face. The girl was clearly scared of fighting him, but despite that, she was still risking her life to save these worthless fakes. A sadistic smile appeared, "Ha!"
Rushing forward, Izuku watched his arm swing backward as he attempted to strike her with his sword, 'I've got to get past the sword.' Using her training, she slid between his legs and jumped into the air. 'I won't use my wand unless it's a last resort.' This was probably not the brightest idea since she was fighting the Hero Killer, but she had never liked the idea of using magic on a muggle.
Stain's eyes widened briefly, 'She's gone? No.' He barely looked up before Izuku's boot hit the back of his head.
Izuku landed on her feet, 'What is he doing?' Stain, despite being hit in the head, was unfazed by her attack. Lifting his knife to his lips, he licked a small drop of blood he was able to get from cutting her. Izuku gasped as her body locked up, 'M~my body. I got cut?' She saw a small cut on her arm.
(Meanwhile)
All Might punched the last nomu, knocking it out with a smile on his face. 'Now to wait for the police to… wait… where is Young Midoriya?' Despite the smoke from the fires and debris, All Might couldn't see her. All Might barely took a step forward before his whole body locked up, "G~gah! I~I can't… move." What was happening? Off in the distance, he could hear a scream as a winged Nomu picked up a hero. There were more of them!? All Might tried with all of his willpower to move, but it was hopeless. From the corner of his eye, he could see Endeavor running up a wall.
In a different part of Japan, All for One gasped as he froze. "What is this?" He hissed out in pain. His body felt as if he were suffering from sleep paralysis. Despite his immense power, All for One stood there in the dark alley… entirely vulnerable for an attack. 'N~not possible.' Given All for One's heightened senses, he felt the smallest cut on his arm. 'Midoriya, what are you doing?' Whatever was happening to her was the only possible explanation for his predicament.
Sekijiro poured some dog food into Vladimir's bowl. "Good boy." He gave the bulldog a pat on the back as he chomped down on his food. As he stood, he went rigid, "I~c~can't… Move." Was he having a stroke? Sekijiro collapsed to the ground. Vladimir had stopped eating and came over to sniff Sekijiro's face. The sweet bulldog thought Vlad was playing.
(Hosu)
Shoto Todoroki was running behind his father. Nomu were attacking the shopping center. 'How many Nomu does the League of Villains have?' Keeping a steady pace behind his father, Shoto came to an abrupt stop when a white card slammed into his face. Taking the card from his face, Shoto quickly read it. There was only a street name and at the bottom of the card was Izuku's name written in gold ink. Shoto looked at the top of the card and read the small print, 'Magical Magi's Telegram?'
Enji Todoroki looked back and noticed his son holding a card, "Shoto! What are you doing!?" Now was not the time to be playing with cards.
The card in Shoto's hands slowly disappeared. Without thinking, Shoto spun around and ran towards the card's location. His father was calling out to him. "You can handle those creatures on your own."
Endeavor's eye twitched, "Where the hell are you going!?" He couldn't dwell on his son's sudden need to run away because of all the screaming. Turning back around, Endeavor ran towards the mass of Nomu, destroying Hosu. Running up a wall, he slammed down onto a small Nomu, crushing its head. Breaking through some flames, he was surprised to see All Might; however, the hero was frozen like a statue. "What are you doing standing still?" He may not like All Might, but even he knew something was wrong. All Might would never just stand still while people were in danger.
All Might struggled to speak, "C~can't… move!" From the corner of his eye, a Nomu was about to hit him.
Endeavor drew his arm back and punched the Nomu, sending it flying a few feet back. "You owe me for this, All Might." Endeavor did not like All Might, but he wasn't going to leave the hero unprotected.
Meanwhile, All Might was struggling to regain control of his body. 'What is happening to me? Why can't I move!?' All Might glanced to the side and watched as Endeavor kept the Nomu off of him. 'I'm in your debt for this… Endeavor.'
(Alley)
Izuku gasped as she struggled to stand, 'H~How is this possible? It's just a tiny cut.' Forcing her head up, she noticed Stain's knife. She saw the smallest drop of blood that remained on it, 'No… it's the blood.'
Stain was beside Izuku, looking over towards Iida and Native, "You're not powerful enough. It's not that you predicted my movements. You just left my field of vision and maneuvered so you could get a clean shot." Izuku was glaring at him, "But I saw through your plan. There are countless false heroes around here who are all talk. But I think you're worthy of staying alive. Different from these two."
"W-wait, don't. Stop it!" Fear was settling deep into Izuku's heart. Stain lifted his sword and was about to stab Iida in the back. "Bombarda!" Narrowing her vision, she focused on Stain's hand.
"Gah!" The sword exploded from within Stain's hand, breaking it in the process. Stain's back was to Izuku, but slowly he looked back with a raised eyebrow. "So… you're a witch."
Time seemed to stop for Izuku, 'H~how does he know? Unless~'
Stain slowly turned around and looked at the helpless witch, "My old man was a wizard. You think because I'm a muggle, or whatever you call us,I don't know about magic?" He briefly glanced at Iida then walked towards Midoriya. Kneeling down, Stain's face was only a few inches from Izuku's, "You know… growing up, I wanted to be like my old man. Till I learned how terrible your society was." Wizard society was its own tangled mess and just as bad as all the false heroes walking around.
Izuku's heart was pounding, "Where are you going with this?" She struggled to speak.
"Society and the world of pro's think they have it tough. They don't know how terrible it is to be a wizard… luring in the shadows like some rat." It was hard to tell, but Izuku almost felt as though he was trying to be sympathetic. "You got spunk, kid. Using magic in the open, especially for that brat." Stain's hand slowly pushed her head to the ground, breaking her eyesight. "I admire your stupidity, but these fakes don't deserve to live."
Izuku understood why Stain forced her face into the ground, 'C~crap… I~I can't lift my head.' It is virtually impossible to cast magic without knowing where your target was, especially if you aren't using a wand.
Stain started walking back to Iida and pulled out another blade. "I don't hate your kind, but it isn't perfect. But you know that already, don't you?" Lifting his sword high, Stain's aura struck fear into Iida, "I still have a duty to fulfill." Inside his mind, Stain gave a pathetic laugh. Of all the people he believed to be worthy of living, it had to be some random witch. 'She'll make a respectable hero.' But first, he needed to take care of her liabilities.
Flames came shooting down the alleyway, and Stain jumped back, "Someone else to get in my way." Will these intrusions ever end?
Flames were coming off of Todoroki's left side, "Midoriya, you need to give more details in times like this."
Izuku slowly started to regain control back in her body and lifted her head up, "You're using your left side?" Midoriya gasped as a sheet of ice lifted her up.
"I figured you were in trouble and asking for help." He started running towards Stain, fire escaping his hand, "Everything is okay. The heroes will be here any minute." He blasted flames towards Stain, who narrowly dodged them. As Todoroki fought Stain alone with his walls of ice and devastating flames, Izuku was starting to gain control of her body.
"You're good, kid!" Stain said as he flew down towards Native. "Unlike him." A pair of knives had pierced Shoto's arm.
Before Stain could deal a fatal blow to Native, Izuku appeared seemingly out of thin air and pushed him away. Todoroki was clenching his arm, "So he has a time limit." Izuku bought time and pushed Stain far away.
Native struggled to speak, "No, that girl should be the last one to be freed. I still can't move a muscle." Iida was glaring at Todoroki. He felt utter shame and self-rage for allowing Todoroki and Midoriya to get hurt. Though a part of him was still confused about what Stain had said to Midoriya. Why would he call her a witch?
Stain grunted as he slid along Shoto's ice, 'She must be type-O.' Such a rare blood type in the modern age of quirks.
When they landed, a wave of ice rushed towards them, "Midoriya, dodge!" Todoroki shouted as he pushed Stain further back. Izuku narrowly missed the wall of ice and quickly rushed to Shoto's side.
Izuku coughed into her hand; instead of spit or blood, it was a black goop. "He swallows a person's blood to freeze them." With her fangirl knowledge of figuring out quirks, Stain's wasn't too hard to figure out. However, there was one thing that she was still confused about, "I was the one freed first. I'm guessing three reasons why. One, his quirk is less effective the more people who are under it; two, it depends on how much blood he consumes; or three, it's based on blood type."
Native shifted, "If its blood type, I~I'm type B."
"I'm t-type A." Iida said with a grunt.
Izuku mentally compared what differences there are with their blood types. In wizard society, blood type, in general, was an in-depth subject. "I'm type-O. And my blood has no antigens on my red blood cells, or it could do with enzyme count." She shook her head, "I'm sorry, it doesn't matter."
Stain was giving her a crooked smile, "So you figured it out? Bravo, very impressive." He didn't give out compliments often.
Shoto kept his eyes on Stain while speaking to Midoriya, "I thought we could hurry and carry those two out of here, but it's no good. He's too fast. He can dodge ice and fire. I'd have to leave myself unguarded."
'This is bad.' Izuku thought to herself, "If they weren't so injured, I could have apparated us away, but I might risk splinching them." She could see Todoroki glancing at her, needing a better explanation. "No time to explain."
"Then our best option is to hold until the pros arrive and avoid close combat. Unless you have a better idea."
Izuku could tell Shoto was implying for her to do something, "I don't like using magic against muggles, quirk or not." It never settled well with her.
Stain wasted not another second and darted towards them but was thwarted by Shoto's ice and fire. "I don't think now is the best time to be justifying your reason to not use magic." Native and Iida were struggling to look up, but both were utterly confused. Stain continued to dodge Shoto's defenses and was jumping for different walls.
Izuku stood up fully and slipped her wand out, 'I can't believe I'm about to do this.' She felt sick to her stomach. Even though Stain had his sight set on killing them, she still loathed the use of magic on muggles. Flourishing her wand over her head, a blue jet of light continuously escaped her wand, destroying parts of the alley. Stain had a significantly harder time dodging Midoriya's spells.
"This is getting annoying, kid." Stain said with an irritated expression. Jumping high, he arched his blade into a downward motion. Unfortunately for Stain, a pink ray of light hit his sword, locking it in place. Stain hung there in mid-air, holding his blade. "Not bad." Letting go, he dropped to the ground. Reaching behind his back, he pulled out two combat knives.
Izuku slashed her wand upwards, "Sectumsempra." This was a spell taught exclusively to her by Professor Snape.
The white wave of light approached Stain faster than expected and hit his right arm. The Hero Killer stumbled back and held his arm. Blood seeped through his fingers and bandages. Stain looked at his arm and saw the deep wound, "Haha… now you're trying."
Izuku was shocked Stain was still standing… laughing even. 'I just cut his arm open. How can he be laughing?' Shoto took Stain's moment of weakness and blasted another round of ice walls towards him.
Doing a large backflip, Stain pulled out the knife he used to cut Izuku with, "It's been fun, but I'm done playing." With all the spells she cast at him, he knew she wasn't giving it her all. Pulling his blade close to his lips, he licked the small speckle of dried blood.
Izuku froze once more, "H~He still has more of… my blood?"
Stain appeared faster than Todoroki or Midoriya expected, "Hasn't anyone told you, you rely on your quirk too much?" He said to Todoroki. Time seemed to slow down as Stain brought his katana to Todoroki's arm, intending to sever the appendage.
"Recipro Burst!" Just before Stain sliced into Shoto's arm, Iida had recovered and slammed his leg into the blade.
A smile appeared on Izuku's face, 'Thank goodness!' With Stain thrown off guard, Shoto blasted more flames at him. Forcing him to retreat.
Off to the side, Native was yelling at Shoto and Iida, "Idiots! The Hero Killer is only after that kid in the white armor and me. Stop fighting back! Just get out of here!"
Shoto struggled to keep his flames burning for so long, "I don't think he'd let me run even if I wanted to!"
As Iida and Todoroki struggled to keep Stain at bay, Izuku mustered all her strength to start moving. 'T~this really hurts!' Arching her wand, ribbons of cloth seemingly split off from her costume and floated with dangerous intent.
Stain broke through Shoto's fire, "Still too reliant!" Just before he could stab him in the face, a green cloth wrapped around his neck and threw him to the wall. "Ugh!" He was thrown against a trashcan. Standing up, Stain collapsed to his knees as his arms were forced behind his back. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw Izuku a few feet away… cloth was floating around her, which quickly darted towards him.
Iida saw Stain was about to cut himself free with a small knife, 'I won't let us fail now! Recipro Burst.' Running forward, he activated his engine and kicked Stain on the top of his head, knocking the Hero Killer out.
With Stain knocked out briefly, the green cloth promptly returned to Izuku's costume as if nothing had happened. She gave out a nervous laugh, realizing they had all seen her using magic, "Hehe-Not the easiest smell to manage." Native had finally started to get up, but Izuku shot a blue bolt from her wand, hit him in the face, and knocking him out instantly. 'I wish I could have just done that instead.' But Stain was far too quick for spells like that.
With the fight finally over, Izuku walked towards Iida with a jolly smile. She now seemed unphased by what had just happened, "Now before I forget."
Iida felt unsettled by Izuku's smile. How could a smile like that make him so scared? Iida's caution proved to be correct when Izuku grabbed him by the collar of his costume and started shaking him with unfathomable strength, "M~Midoriya!?"
"You, Baka! Do you know how worried I was!? You are in so much trouble, Iida-sama! What were you thinking!?" Izuku soon became incomprehensible as she yelled at Iida.
To the side, Todoroki was certain he saw Iida's soul escape his mouth as Izuku ragdolled him. 'I never knew Midoriya could get so angry.' If he knew she had this much rage inside her, then he was even more afraid of what she had in store for him because of how he treated her during the sports festival.
Izuku stopped shaking Iida and placed him down. Her anger disappeared instantly and was replaced with a relieved smile, "I'm glad you're okay. Todoroki, you're bleeding! Why didn't you say something!?"
Shoto cowered back ever so slightly. He didn't want to be yelled at like Iida. She made his father look like a saint. "It's not that bad." He lifted his arm.
"Are you crazy!? You have two knives in your arm!" She quickly rushed over and started tending to his wound. "These are deep. Oh, I'm so sorry I brought you here." He would never have gotten hurt if she hadn't called for his help, but he was the only person she knew was also in the area. Izuku fumbled as she reached into her pocket, "Here, this should help. Iida, come here."
Iida approached and helped Izuku hold Todoroki down, even though he wasn't sure what was happening. "What are you doing?" Todoroki asked.
"This will hurt for just a second." Izuku quickly pulled out the knives embedded into Shoto's arm and promptly poured a few drops from the vial in her hand.
"Grrr~" Shoto winced as his wounds quickly sealed over. A light layer of skin appeared over his injury, but it didn't wholly heal his wound. "What is that?"
Izuku presented the bottle, "Essence of dittany. It's a lifesaver for sealing deep wounds." She still remembers when she had to use some after Gran Torino and All for One fought in her apartment. Izuku looked at Iida and saw his arm was cut open too. 'Sorry, Iida.' Without warning she threw the rest of the potion onto his wound.
Iida jumped back and held his arm, "AH!" He lifted his hand slowly to see a layer of skin seal the wound. He glanced between Izuku and Shoto, "May one of you please tell me what is happening?!"
Izuku gave a sad whine, 'Not this conversation again.' While Native wasn't allowed to know, Iida was an exception.
(10 Minutes)
After stripping Stain of his weapons and tying him up, Izuku had to alter Native's memories. She simply erased when he saw her casting spells and told a new narrative in his mind. As for Iida… he was as confused as ever.
"You're a what?!" Iida's voice had risen an octave. Was this a joke?
Izuku finished tightening the binding on Stain's hands, "I'm a witch. I was going to wait until Nezu made the announcement, but I figured telling you now would be best."
"Principal Nezu!? He knows? If this is a joke, Midoriya, I do not like it!" Iida made his signature robot motion with his hand.
Izuku and Iida jumped back when Stain violently turned his head, his red eyes piercing Iida's as he growled at the boy, "Stop being an uptight brat." His need to impale this child on his blade was driving him insane. Stain went back to staring at the ground… biding time for his escape.
Izuku continued to remove more and more knives from Stain, 'How many knives can one person have?' Taking a knife out of his pocket, she saw him staring at her. 'T~That stare is so scary.'
"You were holding back." Stain muttered out.
"I'm sorry?"
He gave a crooked smile, "We both know you weren't trying." Being familiar with the wizarding world, Stain knew she could have killed him with the flick of her wrist. "Next time… don't hold back."
Izuku was confused and slightly scared. Stain had a terrifying aura. She briefly looked towards Iida and Todoroki, who helped Native get up, "I wasn't holding back."
"Mhm," This girl was a terrible liar, "These fakes don't deserve to live." His bleeding arm had since been wrapped in bandages, thanks to Midoriya.
"That doesn't mean they deserve to die."
"You're not dumb and selfish like those fakes." He could plainly see it. And she wasn't like those stuck-up witches he met when he was younger… always looking down on people like him who couldn't use magic.
Izuku shook her head, "I'm sorry, but your silver-tongue won't work on me." She wasn't about to start killing corrupt pro-heroes.
"Don't need a silver-tongue when I'm right." The word 'hero' was dead, and he intended to restore it to its proper meaning. All these pro-heroes cared about now was fame, money, and power. Stain went silent.
Izuku looked at Stain's arm, the one she had wounded, "I'm sorry for cutting your arm open." Was it wrong to apologize to a villain like him? She just couldn't help it. Stain continued to say nothing but internally was smiling. This girl was… unique. He almost killed her, and she still can't help but apologize for hurting him with magic. 'He said his father was a wizard. I guess that technically means he's a squib.' Izuku found this information unsettling. 'I sometimes forget some muggles know about magic.'
Todoroki approached Izuku and helped her drag Stain out of the alley. "Are you hurt?" He asked while looking her over.
"My arm is a little grazed, but I'll live." Izuku leaned close, making sure Native didn't hear her, "Nothing a little magic can't fix."
Shoto nodded, "I see. We should get him to the authorities~"
Todoroki could not finish his sentence because a yellow boot hit Midoriya in the face, "Ow!"
Gran Torino landed on the ground. He was glaring at Izuku, "What gives you the idea that you can just run off!?" Gran Torino had heard from All Might, during their battle with the Nomu, that Midoriya was somewhere nearby. However, being the overprotective man he was, he'd been searching every alley to find this green-haired problem child.
Todoroki and Iida were silent and slightly riddled with fear as Gran Torino shouted at an embarrassed Midoriya. Izuku rubbed the back of her head, "I came to help Iida~"
Gran Torino crossed his arms, "Nope! Nope! Nope! It's bad enough that you're working with that blond-idiot." No words could describe how furious Gran Torino was when he discovered All Might took Izuku on for her internship. Sorahiko would never forgive himself if he let something happen to Midoriya. She may be a grown woman, but to him, he still saw her as the scared child who knocked on his apartment door in the middle of the night. Sorahiko had yet to notice the Hero Killer was tied up.
Izuku was a flustered mess as she apologized to Gran Torino. "I~I'm sorry, Hiko-san."
Gran Torino practically had steam escaping his ears, 'Jeez, this side of her reminds me so much of Toshinori.' Apologizing to him in fear. Sometimes it scared him how similar Izuku was to Toshinori when it came to trying to be a hero. 'She's more of a problem child than Toshinori.' In his teenage years, he was always finding himself in the heat of something.
"Around the corner!" Several pro-heroes came rushing over.
"Endeavor told us there was a request for help here, but~" One of the pros said aloud.
"Children?" Another asked.
Izuku's eye twitched the slightest, 'I'm not a child!' She always hated being called a child.
The hero with white hair looked over Iida and Shoto, "Those injuries look bad. I'll call an ambulance right away."
"Hey, look!" A man with a white mask pointed behind them.
The woman next to him gasped, "Is that… the Hero Killer?"
"What? I'll get the police on the line." The hero pulled out his phone and immediately contacted the police. As he got in touch with the law, the pro-heroes started asking what happened. The man with the white mask started asking about their injuries.
"It's only a small cut. I'm fine." Izuku said while looking at her arm. She only fixed Iida and Shoto's deep wounds.
Iida approached from behind and bowed, "They are hurt because of me. I am truly sorry. I was just so angry~I~couldn't see anything else."
Izuku gave Iida a warm smile as he tried to hold back his tears of regret. She gave him a small pat on the shoulder, "You don't need to be sorry. It's natural for you to feel angry or want revenge."
Sorahiko watched from the side as Izuku comforted Iida. 'She really does take after her mother, doesn't she?' From where he was standing, he couldn't help but see Inko. Even though he hasn't seen her in a few years, she always had a comforting smile. However, their brief moment of peace came to an abrupt end when he spotted the winged Nomu, "Get down!"
Izuku barely had time to register what was happening before sharp claws had dug into her side. She was carried up into the air. 'Huh?!' The Nomu was carrying her high into the sky. She could barely hear Todorooki and Iida calling out to her. "H~hey, let go!" She was struggling to escape its grasp. The Nomu's claws dug into her leg, drawing blood.
Gran Torino was struggling to stand because of the strong winds the Nomu created, 'Shoot! If he takes her too high, I won't be able to reach her with my quirk.' Fear was perpetually multiplying inside Sorahiko. Nobody was going to lay a hand on Midoriya and live to tell the tale.
Stain, who had been silent, cut his bindings with a blade he had tucked away in his bandages. With incredible speed, he licked the Nomu's blood off one of the hero's cheeks and started sprinting after them, "The word hero has lost all meaning in this society." He jumped high into the air and stabbed the Nomu's brain, "The world is overrun with fakes and criminals like you who chase petty dreams!" Stain caught Izuku in his arm as they slid against the ground.
Izuku was stricken with fear, 'H~he was tied up.' However, it was his expression that scared her.
"Everything that I do," He violently ripped his knife out of the dead creature's head, "Is to create a stronger society."
(Elsewhere)
"Hey! Hey! No fair!" Tomura was looking through his binoculars, "Why did he have to go and kill that Nomu? And why is that brat here?" If he'd know she would be here tonight, he would have sent all of the Nomu after her. "This is a mess!" Tomura started scratching his neck violently, "Why do things never go the way I want them to?"
The whole plan of tonight was to riddle fear into the people of Hosu. There weren't supposed to be so many heroes here tonight. Especially not All Might and Endeavor. Behind Tomura was another Nomu with a mist similar to Kurogiri's. The only difference was it was red.
"Damn it." Tomura was shaking. He took a deep breath and stopped his incessant shaking, "Oh well, no real loss." This was a test run… and a declaration. 'What I'd give to see your reaction, Master.' All for One was weak, and only now did he accept it. For years the man had tried to mold him into a proper successor for the underground of society. To keep order amongst the animals, as he was told. But he didn't want that… Tomura wanted to watch everything burn and decay like his quirk.
(Back with Stain)
Everyone's attention soon turned to the sound of Endeavor's voice, "What are you all standing around like fools?" He came running out of an alley, "The villain must have flown this way, right?" All Might was still a block away, tending to a few of the Nomu wreaking havoc. Endeavor turned and noticed the man at the end of the street, "Hold on. Don't tell me that man is~"
Stain looked back with a cynical eye, "Endeavor." His voice was laced with poison. Endeavor was the biggest fake to walk in Japan. Slowly his mask fell from his face.
"Hero Killer!" Endeavor drew his arm back and was prepared to attack.
Gran Torino's eyes widened, "Wait, Todoroki!" He shouted while holding his arm out. Izuku was pinned under Stain's hand.
The air went cold as Stain stood and glared at all of them, "You false hero!" Everyone took a step back as his glare got colder by the second, "I'll make this right! These streets… must run with the blood of hypocrites. Gah~Hero! I will reclaim that word. C'mon! Just try and stop me you, fakes!" It felt as though a dark wave passed over the heroes as Stain's resolve filled their souls with fear. Endeavor, the number two hero, was forced to take a step back because of Stain's look. "There is only one man I'll let kill me. He is a true hero. All Might is worthy!"
Stain took one more step before a blue light exploded behind his back. His skin and clothes briefly flashed a blue glow, and his body locked up. Stain was frozen like a statue. Behind him, Izuku slid her wand back into her sleeve. Everyone was so focused on the Hero Killer they didn't see her cast a spell on him.
Endeavor studied the villain from where he stood, "I think… he's out cold."
Across the street, Iida and Shoto collapsed to the ground. Fear had filled not only them but the heroes who stood around them. Even Gran Torino was left unnerved by Stain's motivation and resolve. It was similar to All Might… only… different.
(Hospital)
Izuku was propped up against her pillow. Todoroki and Iida were both in the same room on separate beds. 'The hospital must be pretty full if we have to share a room.' Usually, women were separated from men.
It was Iida who spoke first, "How are you feeling, Midoriya?" Her wound from the Nomu looked painful.
"The doctor and nurses were able to fix up my leg. I would have preferred to use a potion, but what can you do?" She gave a nervous laugh.
Iida stared at the base of his bed, trying to comprehend what Midoriya had told him. "So… you truly do not have a quirk?" Shoto watched them silently.
"No. My physiology is different from yours." Izuku looked at her foot, "You are born a witch or wizard. You know… kind of how quirks are. Except magic has been around far longer than you could imagine." Izuku could see Iida had a million more questions. Izuku looked down at the foot of her bed, "I'm sorry."
Iida was confused, "For what?" Did he offend her?
"I was holding back when I was fighting Stain. I just... using magic on muggles makes me sick. I know it's stupid, and our lives were on the line, but I can't help it." Iida didn't know how to respond. "There are a lot of spells I could have used to stop him, but I feel the dark arts shouldn't be used on anyone."
Shoto spoke up, "I don't know much about magic and what you can do. But you shouldn't feel bad about trying to protect people."
"You haven't seen the ugly side of magic. There is a reason magic is widely hated throughout history. It's not like those fairy tales you hear growing up. Some spells are so vile they can leave people's lives ruined for decades." Izuku sighed, "But you're right. I just don't like relying on my wand."
"I don't think you are relying on it. You said casting magic is hard without it, right?"
"W~well, yes, but~"
Shoto silenced her with his icy glare, "Stop feeling bad. You shouldn't be holding yourself back or trying to change what you are. But I won't stop you." The room became deathly silent. Izuku had a lot to think about.
Iida decided to break the silence. His cheeks turned red as he scratched the back of his head, "This will come off as rude, I am certain. But I thought witches were… well…"
Izuku chuckled and finished his sentence, "Ugly?" He was too kind to say it. "That's actually a common misconception about wizards. You're thinking of a hag. They're magical beings that are your stereotypical 'witch.' They perform lesser magic than a wizard. Still, since muggles aren't familiar with magic, it is to be expected that you'd jump to that conclusion."
Iida nodded, "I'm sorry if I have insulted you, Midoriya."
"Not at all."
Shoto spoke up, "Don't you think it's a bit dangerous to tell so many people you're a witch?" From what she has told him about the punishment for exposing magic, she seemed too content.
Izuku shrugged, "Normally, yes. But seeing as how everyone is going to find out soon enough, I think it's okay."
"Everyone?" Shoto and Iida asked simultaneously.
Izuku bit her lip and tried to hold in her excitement, "Okay, I wasn't going to tell you, but… you know how there is a rumor that all the hero course students are going on a special trip?" They nodded. "We're actually going to Hogwarts, my old school." She wanted to see everyone's reaction to seeing the castle.
"Hogwarts?" Iida asked. What kind of name was that?
"The full name is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's all the way in Scotland and is the greatest school in the world." Izuku soon turned into Iida when he talks about UA.
Shoto raised a brow, "Scotland? That's very far."
"Well, both the Japanese and British Ministry of Magic agreed it would be best if you went to my old school than the one here." Again, Iida and Todoroki were confused, "There are eleven major schools of magic across the world. Hogwarts accepts students from England, Ireland, Scotland, and most of the northern European countries."
"Eleven!?" Iida asked with wide eyes. There must be more than that, right?
"There are some general wizard schools, but only a few wizards do it." Izuku then pointed out the window, "On the other side of Japan, near Iwo Jima is Mahoutokoro. Normally if you are here from Japan, you would go there to learn magic, but I went abroad for my schooling."
Shoto looked out the window, "So… you were like a wizard exchange student?"
"Exactly!" It was now time for Izuku to become nervous, "Uh… You probably wouldn't want to go to Mahoutokoro anyways."
"Why not?"
"D~don't get me wrong, the palace is beautiful." The students and teachers there were very welcoming when she visited, "But… uh… it's a very old school. Most of the students and teachers there despise muggles." Iida and Todoroki were looking at each other, wondering why their kind was despised.
Iida spoke, "Surely they must be open to the idea of meeting UA students!" He started chopping the air like a robot.
"No." Izuku replied blatantly, "In fact, they would consider that a great insult to Mahoutokoro. No muggle has ever set foot in the palace, and believe me, they aren't open to the idea. Now that is just Mahoutokoro. Most wizards don't mind muggles."
Iida was surprised to hear that someone of their own nationality would be against a muggle, as they called them, from entering their school. "In that case, I must inform our classmates immediately!" Iida chopped that air again, "I will make certain we speak proper English to not insult anyone."
Izuku stopped Iida before he could go on, "Sorry, but Principal Nezu is the one who will be making the announcement. Also, you don't have to worry about speaking properly. All the major schools are bewitched with a translation spell. So unless you are actively trying to say something in your native tongue, you can understand everyone, and they can understand you."
Before the conversation could continue, the door to the room slid open to reveal three people. However, none of them were to be expected.
"Well, isn't this a surprise?" A tiny but cute voice said, "When I was told three of my students were attacked, I simply had to make sure you were all attended to." Nezu was standing next to Gran Torino. However, Izuku was trying to avoid eye contact with the man behind them. All Might was standing there with a tiny bandaid on his nose.
'What happened to Toshi-kun's nose?'
All Might scratched his nose. After arriving at the hospital, Gran Torino had kicked him in the face as punishment for taking Izuku on as an intern and not telling him. 'S~Sc~scary.' His legs shook slightly.
Nezu jumped up onto Izuku's bed and sat next to her, surprising Iida and Todoroki. "Yes, I was quite worried about you three."
Izuku had a joyous smile, "Aw~thank you, Nezu-kun." Everyone but Gran Torino gasped when she started petting Nezu. Everyone knew he didn't like to be touched by people. The only exception was if he were sitting on your shoulder and you needed to place him down.
Nezu's tail wiggled. Izuku was one of the only people he allowed to pet or brush him.
Gran Torino stomped over, still bitter, "Just because you're injured doesn't mean I'm letting this go, kid." He turned to Iida and Todoroki, "And that goes for both of you too." All Might hadn't spoken but was smiling nonetheless.
Izuku cowered away, "I'm sorry, Hiko-san." Now she understood why Toshinori was so afraid of Gran Torino.
"If you're gonna runoff, at least make sure you tell someone!"
All Might gave Izuku a comforting smile. He was going to reprimand her for running away, but seeing as how Gran Torino was already doing that, there was no need for him to join in. More than anything, he just wanted to scoop that bundle of joy up and make sure she felt safe. 'At least she is out of danger.' Hearing from Gran Torino that she was almost kidnapped by a Nomu made his blood boil. 'I should have kept a better eye on her. I am an idiot!' He wanted to hear her side of the story anyway.
The door to the room slid open again, causing everyone to turn to the new visitor. All for One was standing there without his mask on. His red eyes scanned the room. There were far too many people here for his liking. Kuro looked at the two men directly in front of him, "All Might… Gran Torino." He stepped into the room.
Sorahiko looked back, "What are you doing here?"
Nezu giggled evilly, "When I heard our students were injured, I believed it would be best to inform their informatics teacher, don't you think?"
Shoto's eye's widened, "You're Sensei?" He had never seen his hero informatics teacher without his mask on. Most of Class 1A and B thought his head was deformed or something.
All for One glanced at him, "Very observant." His voice was laced in sarcasm. For the next few minutes, Sorahiko started reprimanding Iida and Todoroki for fighting Stain without licenses. However, it was All for One who believed they were justified.
"What the hell are you teaching these kids?" Sorahiko was glaring at him.
"So you mean to say it is wrong of someone to try and protect their friends because they don't have a license?"
Steam escaped Gran Torino's head, "That's not what I meant! Stop putting words in my mouth!" Thankfully Nezu was able to wind down the conversation. Before long, a nurse came to escort Iida and Todoroki for some physical checkups.
While All Might and All for One were distracted by the nurses coming in-and-out of the room, Izuku leaned close to Nezu, "C~can I talk to you in private? Later, perhaps?" Nezu silently turned to look at her. Izuku then inclined her head towards All Might and All for One, signaling what the conversation was about.
Nezu became giddy and nodded violently, "Oh, absolutely, my dear" He whispered. Nezu lived for romantic drama. The fur on his neck stood up as he grew ever more excited about playing as the puppet master in Midoriya's love life.
Izuku gave a sigh of relief, "You know I never expected so many visitors today." It was comforting to know so many people were worried about her. It actually helped her to settle the obscurus inside of her. For a brief moment during her fight with Stain, she thought it would have broken free.
Meanwhile, All for One and All Might were becoming antsy. They wanted Gran Torino and Nezu to leave so they could have Midoriya to themselves. As her soulmates, they felt it was their given right to have a moment alone to check on her without any intrusions. All Might leaned down towards Sorahiko, "May I have a few minutes alone with Young Midoriya?"
Gran Torino's eye twitched, "With you? Not even when I'm in my grave." He did not trust this blond-idiot around Midoriya. All Might's bangs shook as he continued to try and coax Gran Torino out of the room. All for One was becoming increasingly irritated by the two arguing.
As for Izuku, she tried to suppress a laugh. 'Hopefully, Toshinori and Kuro don't break.' They looked very irritated by Gran Torino's stubbornness. She could tell they just wanted to talk with her. 'I think Toshi-kun is mad at me.'
Behind the bickering men, the door to the room slid open. Everyone stopped to look at Izuku when she audibly choked… she looked whiter than a ghost. Gran Torino raised an eyebrow, "Everything all right, Kid? What are you~" He turned around and froze. "Uhhhh."
Standing in the doorway was a woman with green hair tied into a knot. She was skinny and had an honest smile on her face, "Hisashi, I found her!" She looked back and noticed the old man in the room, "Sorahiko, my, how long it has been. I almost didn't recognize you."
A man, no taller than All Might, leaned over to look into the room. Crocodile tears comedically ran down his face, "No! My little girl is all grown up!" He gave a sad huff, and a bit of fire shot out of his mouth.
Izuku struggled to speak, "M~Mom? Dad?"
Inko practically bolted across the room and started hugging Izuku as a fountain of tears shot out of her eyes, "Oh, my sweet baby, I've missed you!"
(To be continued)
(Author Notes)
I hope you all enjoyed that chapter. I am sorry it took so long to get this published. I have just been swamped with my classes and have had no time to write. But nevertheless, I am not abandoning this story.
And as you can see... We finally get to see Mama Midoriya! All Might and All for One will find out rather quickly how much crying Inko can do. I just imagine a room-filling up with her tears, theoretically ;D We'll also see how All for One reacts to finding out why Izuku is in the hospital.
