Chapter 42

The following morning Carly was up at the crack of dawn, feeling bad about the way she ended things with jack the evening before. After getting a cup of coffee she went out on to the patio, where she sat down.

As she sat there for a while Carly began to wonder if she and Jack would ever find happiness together and if they weren't just chasing down old dreams. Up until then every time they had been together it had done wrong somewhere down the line, although they had also known true happiness together and Jack had always made her feel something that she hadn't felt with any other man.

"Why can't things ever be easy." sighed Carly tired, got up again and just when she was about to walk back inside when her sister showed up in the doorway;" What are you doing up this early, Rosanna?"

"I could ask you the same thing." replied she with a worried look as she came outside and sat down;" What happened? Did you and Jack have a fight or something?"

"No, we didn't." answered her sister softly as she sat back down again;" I was pretty hard on him last night and I feel bad about that."

"What happened?" asked Rosanna curious;" Why were you hard on him, Carly? What did he do?"

"He didn't really do anything. It wasn't really his fault." sighed she;" It's just that sometimes I have doubts."

"About Jack's love for you?" said her sister surprised;" Are you doubting that?"

"No, ofcourse not." answered Carly quickly;" I know that Jack loves me, Rosanna. I have always known that and I have never stopped loving him either. Even during our worst times I knew that he loved me, although he always told me at those times that he didn't anymore."

"Then what's wrong?" replied she;" Are you afraid that Janet will never let Jack go or something?"

"I don't think she will have much of a choice in the end. I know that Jack won't stop until he gets a divorce from her." sighed her sister softly;" I'm just scared that once we are really back together again that something will happen to mess it up. Each time we're truly happy together something always happens and I end up losing Jack in the end. And it's usually my own fault. What if I screw this up again? I don't think that I can grow another break up again, rosebud. I barely survived it last year."

"You can't think like that, honey. You won't screw up and neither will Jack. It doesn't have to be like that this time around and hasn't Jack already promised you that this time it will be forever?" asked Rosanna as she put her arms around Carly to comfort her;" Maybe he's right. Maybe you guys will make it this time around."

"Maybe." replied she tired;" I hope so."

A little while later at Terri's Janet was about to go to the hospital to see her daughter when Jack showed up;" Can we talk?"

"What for?" asked his wife annoyed;" Unless you're here to tell me that you have made a mistake and that you have changed your mind about divorcing me then there's nothing to talk about, Jack! Nothing at all!"

"Let him come in, Janet. He came to talk." said Terri as she showed up in the doorway next to her sister;" It's about time that you guys had a serious talk about where things stand between you two."

"No, I don't want to talk to him damn it!" scolded she and got even more angry when Terri let Jack into the house and gently pulled Janet back inside with her too as she closed the door;" Terri!"

"Let him say what he came here to say!" answered her sister before walking away;" I'm gonna take a shower."

"I'm sorry for hurting you, Janet. I never meant to do that and I don't blame you for being mad at me. But I'm the one you should be mad at and I'm the reason why our marriage didn't work." began jack hesitating;" I never should have married you in the first place, but I honestly thought that it was what I wanted."

"So now you're telling me that our whole marriage was a mistake?" asked she stunned;" No, Jack! Our marriage was fine until that woman came back into our lives again and stole you from me!"

"That isn't true and everything that has happened is my fault! Not hers!" replied her husband with a sigh;" Let's not make this any more difficult than it already is and please just sign those divorce papers. The divorce is going to happen and it can either go easy or difficult, but either way I'm never coming back to you again and our marriage is over!"

"Get out!" yelled Janet furious as she opened up the front door again;" It will be a cold day in hell before I sign those papers, Jack Snyder! That lush will never win and you two will will never be together! I won't allow it!"

"Sign the papers, Janet! Don't be stupid!" warned he his wife angry as well and walked out the door;" Our marriage is over and i am going back to Carly, no matter what!"

"Go to hell, Jack!" scolded his wife, slamming the door shut;" Go to hell and take that lush with you!"

"I guess that didn't go so well." said Terri as she came out of the bathroom in a robe;" Are you okay, Janet?"

"Do I look okay?" asked she;" He can go to hell!"

"I know that you're upset and angry." began her sister hesitating;" You have every right to be, but if Jack really wants to divorce you there's nothing that you can do to stop him. And to be honest I don't understand why you would want to either. If he doesn't want to be with you any more than just let him go and move on."

"Never!" answered Janet angry and stormed out the door;" She will never have him!"
