Ch 42

The newly, married couple had gotten back to their apartment in Jump City late at night. Dropping their luggage on the floor, they headed to their bedroom and crashed. It had been exhausting traveling from the dimension of New Azarath to earth.

Raven opened her eyes to the sunlight coming through the window. Adjusting her eyes to light, she looked around to realize Gar was nowhere to be seen. Knowing it was unusual for him to be up before her, she moved the covers off her body and looked down to see a sleeping green cat curled up by her torso. Wondering why he was sleeping there, she moved her hand carefully to his face, softly petting his head.

"Gar," she said softly, as his eyes opened to her curious gaze. "Is there a reason you were sleeping in animal form by my torso?" His face looked up into hers as he decided to nuzzle her neck before moving his face against hers. "Uh," she blushed, "that doesn't really answer my question. I love you too," she said as his purring got louder, making her smile, "but I really need a shower."

Getting up, she made her way to the bathroom, dropped her clothes in the hamper, and turned on the shower. Feeling something against her legs, she looked down to see Gar had followed her into the bathroom in cat form. Leaving him for the shower, she sighed as the water hit her body. Hearing the sound of the curtain, she was startled as two green hands wrapped themselves around her from behind.

"Hi," he said into her hair.

She smiled and shook her head. "You better be in here to wash me, Garfield."

"If that's what you really want," he said into her ear, causing her body to shiver.

"I'm not talking about sex Gar."

"I know," he said, "so do you want me to wash your hair first or your body?"

"Um," she blushed, thrown off by his behavior but not questioning it right now, "hair first."

His finger felt good running through her hair as he applied the shampoo. When he moved her under the water head to rinse her hair, she looked closely at him as he looked at her. "Is everything all right?"

Gar smiled. "Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" he asked as he went for the conditioner.

Standing in front of him, she watched as he moved the conditioner through her hair while smiling at her. "You're enjoying this," said Raven before moving her under the water once again.

"Of course I am, I like taking care of you. It doesn't matter in what form."

"That's very sweet of you Gar," she said as she kissed him softly on the lips. "Now, how about you get to my body," she smiled.

"My pleasure," he said as he took his time getting to every part of her body.

"Ga—Gar," she said as she pressed her body up against his. "You're going to have to wash me again," she moaned before her lips took his roughly before they both fell to the shower floor.

The smiling faces of Alice and Jack greeted the newly married couple as they were invited inside their home. Sitting in the living room, they talked about the honeymoon and how much they enjoyed being in New Azarath.

"Well, I'm glad you two had such a good time. Of course, we're sad that we won't see the two of you regularly but as long as you're both happy, that's what matters," said Alice.

"We'll come to visit, and you two can visit us when Gar and I are situated in our own home," said Raven.

Jack smiled. "Sounds good to me," he said. "So, I couldn't help but notice that your adoptive dad didn't seem too happy with the news."

"Yeah, Steve's never been that good with change. When I decided to leave the Doom Patrol, I got an ear full," said Gar. "He thought I was making the biggest mistake of my life," he smiled, "oh boy was he wrong," he said as he smiled at Raven.

"So, what are your plans here before you leave?" asked Alice.

"Well, we put all of our things in storage so the apartment is empty except for the furniture it came with," said Gar. "I let the zoo know I was leaving. We said goodbye to the ravens," he smiled. "I even got a picture with Raven with them."

"I don't know how you convinced me, but it seemed right," Raven smiled. "Anyway, I was thinking you could hire Jinx to take my place at the bookstore/cafe. She's there most of the time with her kids anyway."

"I was thinking about it actually," said Alice. "I'll be sure to bring it up to her. She and Wally should be here any minute." The doorbell rang. "I'll get it," she said.

"Well, if it isn't Mr. and Mrs. Logan, smiled Jinx as she came over and sat by Raven. "Tell me everything about the honeymoon, leave nothing out."

"When's the last time you and Jinx went on vacation?" asked Gar to Wally.

"Well, we haven't had time with the kids and all. They are with her grandparents now," said Wally.

"You really need to think about taking one man. I think your wife is trying to live vicariously through our honeymoon," said Gar.

"He's right Jinx. You need a vacation," said Raven.

Jinx sighed. "I guess we could leave the the kids with my parents while we go on vacation," she smiled as Wally hugged her.

"A job at the bookstore/cafe will be waiting for you when you get back Jinx," said Alice. "You will be running the place.

"Really!" exclaimed Jinx. "I—I don't know what to say accept for YES!"

Raven and Gar left the house feeling good about how they left things with her relatives and friends. Their next stop was to Vic and Karen's place before Raven sensed them in Gotham City with Dick and Kory.

Opening a portal to Dick and Kory's home, the couple ended up in their living room with all their luggage to see the Graysons watching TV. When they turned to see the disturbance, Kory screamed with joy as she hugged Gar and Raven tightly in her embrace.

"Friends! You are back from your honeymoon," smiled Kory as she let the newly married couple go.

"Um," said Dick, "it's good to see you two," he smiled as he hugged the couple. "Are we your last stop?"

"No, actually the Doom Patrol is," said Gar. "We were lucky that you, Kory, Vic, Karen, and your kids were all in the same place."

"So, it is goodbye then?" said Kory as Dick's arm went around her.

"No," said Raven. "It's not goodbye Kory. We'll visit you, and you can come visit us."

"Plus if you don't mind, we'd love to stay the night," said Gar.

"Oh of course!" exclaimed Kory.

"So where's Vic and Karen?" asked Gar.

"They're upstairs with their twins. They got sick, but it's nothing to worry about. The doctor checked them out. They both have colds, so we're keeping them away from Nightstar," said Dick.

"Dick is quite protective over her," smiled Kory. "I believe she is resilient."

"Gar, Raven!" exclaimed Vic excitedly as he ran towards the couple, lifted them into his arms, and hugged them. "I'm glad to see you two."

"You to Vic," Gar wheezed, "but I believe Rae and I would like to breathe."

"Oh," he said as he let them go, "sorry, just happy to see the whole family back together, even if it's for a little while."

"Yeah," Gar smiled, "it sure is dude."

"So, how's Karen?" asked Raven.

"Tired, I'm sure she's getting some sleep," said Vic.

"So, how was the honeymoon?" asked Kory.

"If she didn't tell Jinx all the juicy details, I'm sure she won't be telling us, Kory," said Karen.

"Well, thank God for that," said Vic. "I don't want to be traumatized."

"Hey! I'll have you know we didn't just have sex all the time," said Gar.

"GARFIELD!" yelled Raven as she blushed, hearing giggles coming from Kory and Karen.

"U—uh sorry, I should have kept my mouth shut," he said as Dick and Vic laughed.

Gar came out of the bathroom dressed in his pajamas as he saw Raven lying down on the bed with the covers over her body. She looked asleep, but he couldn't tell. He was definitely not going to find out as he got in beside her, pulling his side of the blankets over his body. Facing away from her in bed, it didn't feel right. He didn't want to leave things this way tonight.

"Raven, I'm sorry. I just didn't want them to think that all we do is have sex. Our relationship means more to me then that, and I know I really put my foot in my mouth. Goodnight," he said as he closed his eyes. "I love you."

"I love you to Garfield." Gar turned over to come face to face with his wife. "I never thought you were with me for sex, and the girls were just teasing us."

"I'm an idiot," he sighed.

"I know," she smirked, "that's why I married you. I have to be the smart one in the relationship."

"Really!"

"No," Raven laughed. "I was just kidding."

"That joke was just hurtful Rae. I may not forgive you for a long time."

"Uh-huh sure," Raven said, not buying his act.

"I mean some cuddling would help things along," he smiled.

"You are not subtle Gar," she smiled back as she moved her body closer to his, letting his arms wrap around her.

"I just love having you in my arms."

"Why do you love it so much?"

"I don't know how to describe, but it's like I feel powerful and safe at the same time. No one can touch us."

"I never thought about it like that before. I always thought it was because you wanted to be close to me."

"Well, that to Rae but I didn't want to give my typical answer. I like to surprise you sometimes, throw you off the beaten path."

"Of course you do," smiled Raven. "We should really get some sleep Gar."

"You right. We have a lot to do tomorrow," he said before he kissed his wife's forehead. "Sleep tight, don't let my canines bite."

Raven sighed. "Still not funny Garfield, goodnight," she said as she closed her eyes and sunk into the warmth that was his embrace.

Gar sighed with contentment as he held his wife tight but not too tightly. Looking around the darkened room one last time, he thought of all the memories they had shared in Dick and Kory's guest room with Raven. He knew living on a whole new dimension would be different for him but more than anything he was excited to start his new life with his wife by his side.
