"Where is he?" Feliciano thought to himself as he sat on a bench outside the restaurant. He kept seeing various enter and exit the place. None of them who he was looking for. Quickly he checked to make it was the right place and time. It was. Slowly he started to pace around, take deep breaths, and gently played with his hair.
"Feliciano," he heard and turned around to see Ludwig walking towards him.
"Ludwig!" Feliciano cheered running over to him. Immediately hugging his boyfriend tightly. "I missed you."
"I missed you too," Ludwig said softly and sweetly. Gently stroking Feliciano's hair. Slowly the two of them let go. Ludwig reached out his hand and Feliciano gleefully took it. The two of them started to walk inside. Ludwig couldn't his eyes off of Feliciano, who was smiling the entire time.
"I still can't believe he's actually my boyfriend," Ludwig thought to himself. Gently holding Feliciano's hand a little tighter.
When the two of them walked inside they saw a few other small groups of people waiting. The two of them stood off to the side. Standing apart from each other a little but still close. Feliciano swayed in place while Ludwig stood with his arms crossed.
"God I hope we don't look too awkward," Ludwig thought to himself as they stood there. Feliciano soon turned to him and smiled. That oh so contagious smile that Ludwig loved so much. Feliciano giggled a little as his cheeks started to be tinted in pink.
After a few minutes, the two of them were led to a small table by the window. Feliciano immediately beamed and excitedly took his seat. Ludwig sat down across from him. The two of them quietly looked over the menu for a few minutes. A few moments either of them poked their head to look at the other. Smiling each time. After a few minutes, they placed their orders and sat there for a bit.
"So how have you been?" Ludwig asked after a bit of silence.
"Been good," Feliciano said a little quietly. "Things have been getting better. What about you?"
"They've been good," Ludwig responded before the two became quiet again. "God, why are we so awkward?"
"Oh yeah so Tezera decided to text our entire group chat minus me that we got together," Feliciano said rolling his eyes bit laughing a little. "So first thing I come back to is Mei prodding me with a bunch of questions. Thankfully no one said anything to my brothers. I was a bit nervous to tell them though."
"Why's that?"
"Ah, they're just a bit overprotective. Especially Lovino," Feliciano looked out the window and sighed. "I miss them."
"It will be okay," Ludwig said reaching over to grab Feliciano's hand. Feliciano looked back at him and smile a little somberly.
"It's still hard not seeing them every day," he said quietly. "At least they were happy I found someone. What about your family?"
"It took me three days to tell my parents," Ludwig admitted with a small laugh. "I have no idea why. When I finally did they were very excited. Especially my mom."
"Your mom is such a sweetheart," Feliciano said with a sigh.
"Yeah, it can be annoying at some points," Ludwig laughed to himself and rubbed the back of his head. Slowly he let of Feliciano's hand. "But I know I should be lucky to have such an accepting mother. It just annoys me sometimes."
"I understand why you feel that way," Feliciano said warmly and comfortingly. The two looked at each other briefly and smiled. "So do anything interesting these past few weeks?"
"Not really," Ludwig took a sip of water. "Been very uneventful."
"Same here, though I guess it's a good thing."
"I don't if I ever asked this before," Ludwig said after a little bit. "But what got you into art? Not just as a hobby but as a major."
"Well, art has always been a passion of mine," Feliciano said placing his glass down. "I went to private Catholic schools until now. and I always felt trapped and contained there. Like I couldn't truly be myself, and it only got worse once I release ya know. For me, any art project or assignment in art was a way where I could truly express myself. Once I started taking art classes it only grew. It was something I felt like I was meant to do. I couldn't picture myself doing anything else. I had everything prepared to convince my parents to let me go. They seemed fine with it but looking back they probably thought it was a simple thing for me to do and stay home more often... But I didn't care then and I don't care now. Art is my escape from everything. It helps me destress and keeps me busy. I'm sorry I'm rambling."
"I enjoyed that actually," Ludwig said. Feliciano leaned back a little, his being tainted with red. "It's nice hearing you talk about your passions."
"Well I got carried away there," Feliciano said rubbing the back of his head. "What about you? What made you decide to go into law?"
"It's a family thing. My father would always tell us a bit of what he did at work and as I got older it seemed more interesting to me. So when it came time for me to start thinking of colleges, I figured it'd be a good career. I know it's not as passion-filled as your backstory but there isn't really anything else to it."
"I understand sometimes things just feel right. For different reasons."
Shortly after their dinners arrived. The two continued talking in between bites of food. With every passing second, it seemed the tension melted away. They were chatting, laughing, and overall just having a good time. It felt like when the two of them were hanging out before they were together. But somehow this was better. Once the two were done with dinner they walked outside.
"It sure is beautiful tonight," Feliciano said as he looked up at the sky.
"It is," Ludwig agreed with him. Walking slightly close to him, if that was even possible. Looking over at his boyfriend, who was still fixated on the sky. "You know I don't have to be home at a certain time..."
"Oh really?" Feliciano said perking up a little. "Well, it is a beautiful night."
"Would you like to walk around for a bit?" Ludwig asked gesturing in the other direction.
"Sound lovely," Feliciano said in a slightly flirty tone, causing the two of them to laugh.
The two of them walked over to Ludwig's car. He drove for a bit before finding a small park nearby. The lights around it were lit and gave enough illumination to justify walking around. They walked side by side for a little bit. Felciano stopped after a little bit. Looking up to admire the night sky. Ludwig stopped and walked over to him.
"The sky is so pretty right now," Feliciano said walking closer to Ludwig. "Like something out of a painting."
"Do you see everything like art?"
"I can't help it alright!" Feliciano said exasperated.
"I mean it is kind of cute."
"Aww, Ludwig." Feliciano moved and leaned to kiss him on the cheek.
"Could you not?" Ludwig requested stepping away and holding his hand up.
"Oh." Feliciano froze for a second before looking down. He took a few steps away. "Sorry."
Ludwig smiled to himself. Slowly he walked over to Feliciano. Reaching carefully he grabbed Feliciano's hand. Holding it softly. Feliciano looked over to Ludwig and down at their hands. Slowly his face turned from a mix of nervousness and sadness to pure delight. Gently Ludwig pulled Feliciano closer to him. Leading him away from the spot. The of them continued their walk.
"Is this what dating is like?" Ludwig thought to himself as they kept walking. "I hope it is. Because it feels right. This is more than I could ever want in a relationship."
"You okay Ludwig?" Feliciano asked a little sheepishly. Slowly he started to let go only for Ludwig to grab it tighter.
"Of course I'm okay," Ludwig pulled Feliciano closer. "Right now there isn't any place I'd rather be."
