Ch 44: Months Later…
Waking up in his own bed, Gar smiled as he hopped out of bed and opened the window to see the lush, green fields of New Azarath before him. He woke up every morning not believing this was his life in their newly built home. He remembered the process had been challenging, bringing both their tastes within and outside the house, but it was all worth it in the end.
Looking towards the bed he had just gotten out of, he saw his sleeping wife with a content look on her face. He watched as her hand reached out to the empty space beside her. Her sleeping face was puzzled, so her eyes opened to see her husband smiling down at her.
"Wh—what are you doing up Garfield?"
"I have to get to the zoo today. I just never get tired of the view outside our window in the morning," he smiled.
"It is quite beautiful," she said as she sat up in bed, the blankets falling away from her body to reveal the bare skin of her chest and torso.
"Yeah," Gar said as he was hypnotized by her body. Realizing he had been staring, he blushed and looked away. "I should get ready for work."
Dressed and ready to go, Gar came back into the bedroom to see his wife in her robe, admiring the view he had just been looking at a few minutes ago. He desperately wanted to go over to her and hold her tight as they both enjoyed the view, but he knew as soon as he touched her, they would be spending their whole day in the bedroom.
"Trying to resist temptation Gar?" she smirked.
"Don't you have work at the library today?"
"I have some time," she smiled as she left for the kitchen for some tea.
He sighed as he followed in after her and grabbed something quick to eat as well as the lunch he made for the day. "It's been a while. I'm just a little on edge. I'll be fine," he said.
"I know I didn't exactly help this morning. With the house being built and starting our new jobs, we really haven't had time for each other. Plus our friends and family are coming this weekend for the housewarming."
"We'll find time Rae," he smiled as he walked up to her and kissed her on the forehead. When his eyes connected with hers, their lips met in a hungry kiss while their arms explored each other.
"Ga—Gar!" she yelled.
"I know, I know. I gotta go, see you tonight, love you, bye Rae," he said as he dashed out the door.
She laughed as she closed the door behind him. "I love you to Gar," she said, heading back to the kitchen to finish her tea and breakfast.
Leaving for work, she looked around the living room before she closed the door and locked it behind her. She smiled as she hiked all the way to the city, seeing the scenery as she went. It was one of the best parts of her day besides the library and coming home to Gar every day.
