Thank you for all your comments. :) Love to know this story is still being read and it keeps me motivated.
She could hear some distant noise, some conversation happening far-far away. And the warm enveloping feeling she was wrapped in kept her away from all of it. The darkness was filled with flickering lights, with hushed tones, with purple and white and green and something else. There was an overwhelming nauseous scent of chemicals surrounding her, forcing her to gag; the bitter bile raising in her throat, and her heart was as if dropping into her stomach. She could feel herself passing out again. She tried to take a deep breath, take as much oxygen as possible, but the air wasn't enough to keep her from slipping back into unconsciousness.
The short glimpses of her surroundings, splashes of color played in the back of her head, fading as her insides twirled in nausea-inducing twists. Everything slowly grew dim and eventually she blacked out.
The next time she woke up, she could tell she was no longer surrounded with people and the smell of chemicals were gone. Her head still felt like it was going to split in half in an agonizing pain, but there was a certain clarity in her mind, like the clear sky after a heavy storm.
Haruhi blinked a few times, trying to get her vision into focus. Her surroundings were not what she expected, but she didn't have the luxury to be surprised. In the face of recent events it was kind of presumed, but still she hoped she would find herself in a hospital bed and not some dark cell. She was lying on the floor, on a thin, dirty matrass. She tried to move her hands but she found them bound to a radiator stationed behind her. The cell was cold and the radiator was clearly there just to serve as a convenient binding post.
Numerous thoughts raced through her mind at the same time. Her heart skipped a beat as she wondered if Kaoru was okay. Clearly, Hikaru didn't arrive with the team on time, or she wouldn't be handcuffed to the radiator right now. Something must have gone wrong if they didn't find her yet. She couldn't tell how long she had been unconscious, but judging from the dried wounds on her arms and the slight scabbing it must have been a while. She must have been drugged. Her leg was poorly bandaged. The slight movement proved that it was probably broken.
She hissed after her poor attempt of stretching her limbs. Things couldn't have been worse. This was planned. They wanted her to crush and then they kept her drug and didn't let her wake up. But now she was alone. She was weak and tired and hungry. She wondered when was the last time she ate and drank, because clearly she couldn't remember much.
Who was behind this was another question? Kyoya? Or Yuki Ito's lapdog like last time. She had a light medical gown on, which means this people had all her things.
She needed to come up with a plan and very quickly, because her leg was broken and she needed proper medical attention. She tried to take a deep breathe and concentrate. There were no windows, so she couldn't tell where she was or what time it was, but she was alone and there were no cameras monitoring her. Maybe it was her chance. If she could free herself from the handcuffs, she would have a chance escaping.
She stared down at her stomach. It didn't seem she had any injuries. She hoped she didn't have any injuries.
It wasn't Kyoya. No matter what kind of bastard he was he would never endanger his child's life.
She pulled her hand, but the handcuffs stopped her. She strained her muscles and tried to push her hands through. The metal scratched her skin and bruised her flesh, but hand remained locked in place.
She tried several times until the sides of her wrist were completely scraped and swollen.
Her breathing labored and the pain made her give up.
"Fuck," she mumbled, trying to calm down. She was thirsty. Her throat was dry.
The door creaked. She heard footsteps approaching. Her first reaction was too pretend to be unconscious, but before she could make that decision, the door swung open and a man walked in.
"Oh," he chuckled, seeing her. "You are awake, princess."
Haruhi watched the man carefully. He was fat, with shabby beard and was wearing an ugly suit with too many tacky flowers printed all over it.
"Who are you?" she mumbled tired. "What do you want from me? Why have you chained me here?"
"Ah," the man moved around her, then pulled a chair from the corner and sat in front of Haruhi. "You don't seem too happy about the accommodations?"
Haruhi kept his gaze, but didn't say another word. It seemed the man was curious himself. He was looking at her like she was some praised item.
"Hey," he kicked her injured leg and Haruhi screamed. Horrible pain coursed through her like a shock of electricity. "Answer me!"
"If you damage me, I don't think my in laws are going to be too keen to pay you to have me back," she rasped, face scrunched up with agony.
"Someone paid a lot of money for you already, princess," the man laughed. "And they didn't warn about keeping you in one piece."
"I am sure Ootori family will pay more," Haruhi argued. "Well, that is if you ask them for money."
"I don't think so," the man smiled. "Wouldn't want to piss off the people who want your head, sweetheart. The only thing that I don't get is what is that you did that would get you such a high price for your pretty little head. You don't seem the type. But who am I to judge. They pay, I deliver."
"How much did you get paid?" she asked, struggling against the handcuffs, trying to remove them again. "You don't think Ootoris will pay you twice as much to have me back. I am pregnant after all."
"I am sure," the man laughed. "But only an idiot would risk twice as much money to cross who have ordered you. I'm not fancying to find myself underwater in Tokyo bay."
"You think it is much wiser to cross Ootori family?" she asked quietly, even though she wasn't sure if they cared about her enough.
"I couldn't care less about some rich aristocrats," he got up and stared down at her. "And you carrying their spawn, makes no difference"
He kicked her hard in the stomach. Haruhi shrieked and tried to move away protect herself from the blow. But the impact made her fall down and twist in pain. Her child. She was going to lose her child. Her body started shaking. She couldn't breath. She was choking. She could taste blood in her mouth. Things were getting out of focus again.
"In fact that makes this so much more entertaining," he laughed.
Haruhi shook her chains one more time, trying to free her bloodied hands before world went blank before her eyes.
Just a small chapter in, hope you like it.
