Bible Teaching
Hearer, Knower, and Doer
Welcome brothers and sister to another Bible Teachings, this time we are taking the time to truly understand what some would say as what hearing the words, knowing the words and doing the words implies to our everyday life. Each segment will give some implication as to what they mean and how to use them. For those that want clarity all three have different words that mean the same thing as Listening, understanding and acting on the Holy Words of the Bible. The Holy Bible is the words of God given to us for our benefit, many times we just hear the words by listening to others that teach, preach and stay for sermons, even when we know the words, know the commandments and what God is saying. The Most difficult any of us no matter the age or times we live is doing the words. In fact I can honestly say many of us fail to imply the action for the Holy Words of the Bible, because we tend to forget that our Lord Jesus is looking for those who will heed his commands and lovingly seeks him in worship and obey him. While none of us are prefect and not follow through, it doesn't mean we stop after making one mistake or another.
Hearer(Listening)
In Jesus times, he has mention of people who either hear the words or scratch the ears. While we understand that hearing the words means listening to those speaking and reading the words. There are those who rather not listen and want to entertain themselves. I can speak for everyone here that loves entertainment that listening to God can be difficult, and as someone who likes video games, anime/manga, and other forms of entertainment, it can distract from what I should be living instead of what the world is showing. Those of scratching ear, are those who like to entertain themselves instead of listening to others or reading the words.
Back in the day the Scribes and Pharisees are suppose to be keepers of the Mosaic laws, while not all of them are bad as some acknowledge Christ as son of God and those who truly understood realize what they had done. There are many who didn't follow through with the laws and sometimes only boosted themselves for appearing better then others. They were suppose to be examples of faith towards God. Yet time had eventually wore them down and their fathers to their sons followed the example of this world instead of heeding the words of God. This happens to all of us even at small and old age, when we want those younger then us to follow our teachings and those older then us have given up. When we're not constantly hearing the words through others of fellowship and reading the words from the Bible, we tend to lose ourselves by this world and forget what we should be listening.
When first starting, I can honestly say to everyone here how I took the words too lightly. Much of it because I like being entertained by stuff surrounding me and things of my own pleasure, yet as I dig deeper into the words and heeding the teaching from both Church and Youtube from preachers and teachers of Christ, that slowly change and soon you realize about what God is saying and how we shouldn't take them for granted. There are many who would rather hear what is pleasing to themselves over what is good for them even if they are warning, re-approach, reproof, and rebukes about our lives and how we should be living. God warns us for a reason and Jesus spoke of Hell many times warning of the dangers for living this world over seeking God in his ways. Yet when mention of our faults and problems that come from sin, we rather avoid them and angrily say "I am better then you" towards Christ and those who speak badly of ourselves. I know this is hard to hear, but I truly encourage you if someone is speaking about your problems and how you need to change Christians and non-Christians, I only ask to either listen or walk away until you calm down and take a moment to realize your previous or current actions. Listening does much for us and when we don't listen, we are foolish as those that only seek for themselves and their amusement.
Knower(Understanding)
Now understanding the words literally implies how we should have the words place in our hearts and minds. Meaning devotional study of the Holy Bible and know the words by heart. It's hard because it means taking your free time away from yourself and focus on God more as you pray for his guidance and understanding of his words. When you pray for his wisdom and understanding the world will appear different overtime. It's not always immediately, but if it is praise God for giving you great wisdom and understanding for his works. For many of us, this is hard especially for those who like technology and shows that are watch.
You may have it in your heart to only enjoy yourself, but you must remember that God comes first and that sometimes not everyone does it easily including yourself. The latter is because I have this struggle, speaking from young experience that placing God first in the morning everyday is not easy and it will take time for change to happen or immediate. This is because it comes from obeying God first before yourself. Little choices from you that matters as they determine your life in this world and eternity either in Heaven or Hell. Which is why if you great amount of free time, take it's time for God and understand the Holy Words of the Bible. Memorize them and mediate on these words through Prayer. Allow God to place in your hearts the wisdom and understanding behind his words.
It will be tough and you will struggle, but they are worth everything then this world's treasure and your own pleasures. You could even feel the words living and breathing as if their alive, wanting to give breath to our souls from Lord Almighty. It's hard to take the time allowing God to change our minds and ways of living, because in this world when you live by them long time, your attitude to change can harden. And God wants us to change for the better and live in our hearts. But we must be obedient and submissive to him. These two factors are what determines our lives, and they are what brings much love and worship for God or for ourselves. This world ruled by the Devil wants us to live for ourselves, and the ways we live for ourselves and pleasures becomes our gods and idols that still is practice today. You may not realize it, but your cellphone that is used most times are your idols that you used as Godly worship, and while you don't mean this, it does bring the question. Do you enjoy your entertainment or God's words flowing in your life?
Doer(Acting)
The one thing many of us fail and has been failing point for many claimed as Christians, Saints, Believers and those of our fathers and their fathers before us. This is because out of the three, acting on the words shows who you are and how you live on little choice everyday and act when around people you love and hate. These small actions towards others and your own deeds determine your life, if not always reexamine or making sure your following God's command, it will show what you could have done and how to change for the better instead for the worse.
Acting on the words is the most important aspect of our Christian, Saint, and Believers life. And for those wanting to become follow of Christ acting on these words will benefit you. When we take the words for grated we tend to forget they imply our actions as well. Even when we know the words and hear the words, we sometimes throw them out the window and act like we can still be the same. Always acting for yourself except for Sundays is not the way to live, instead everyday should be treated as if Sunday was today for us and how the 7th days is the day for God and focus on him.
I can say doing the words is hard because acting on them isn't always implied as it should have been for many of us, even those who are followers of Christ the longest. We should take great care and actually chose to follow the words. Take small choices to follow the words and eventually you will change for the better. It takes much work and patients, that even for those preaching, teaching and ministry towards people have this potential problems as well. Folks take heed that when we just hear the words and know the words, it won't mean anything nor would have any power in our lives and those around us if we don't do the words. Living by the word is how we need to treat the Holy Bible and how God can overflow our lives and those around us. Just hearing and knowing isn't enough, we must be doing the word in our actions and choice. Question is are you willing?
