Malefor flew in the air as he searched for Spyro. He grunted at his incapacity of getting rid of The Sorceress who stole their kingdom long ago. The dark purple dragon wanted to eliminate her. His kind suffered because of her and even now, caused more suffering. She stole the dragon eggs.
"I got to find Spyro," he cursed himself for letting the youngling on his own for a long time. He should have tried to find him. He just hoped that the other adult dragons found the purple dragon. At least, he would be safe.
He reached the Evening Realm. The sky was dark as the night seemed to be close. He spread his wings and searched around. He didn't know, but as he searched, he reached the realm a little too soon, as Spyro had been busy fighting Spike.
Chapter 44: Malefor and Greta
Gunnar came out of the portal first and slowed down as he looked around, searching for any enemies ready to ambush them. He found no one for now. The other dragons came out of the portal.
Spyro looked around and tried to find any bad guys, "No bad guys around us."
"It's getting late already," Nestor grumbled as he watched the sky.
"Where are we?" Titan asked as he put his axe on the ground.
"I don't know," Bruno replied as he walked a few steps forward.
"Evening Realm," the mauve dragon replied.
Once again, the location had a large field of green grass, but there was a large lake in the middle. The lake seemed to be dominant there.
"Good thing I can swim," the purple dragon commented as he thought back on his first adventure.
"I can too," Flame replied as he showed his paws moving with pride.
"We all can," Bubba replied with a smirk.
Magnus chuckled as he slapped his hands, "I'm not that great and I kind of sink."
Astor watched the castle that partially disappeared in the lake. He adjusted his glasses and whined, "It has been submerged. No one took care of our castle when we were gone," he sighed loudly as he watched the remaining of their ancestors land. He was on his knees, head down. He held back his tears. He saw many things he lost, but everything he witness was beginning to put a lot of weight on his heart.
Their past had been badly damaged without the proper cares of the land.
Zantor tapped the back of the mauve dragon, "There. Even if we lost everything, we still have our family to save. We have a new home."
The sad dragon felt someone putting his paws on his belly. He looked at Spyro. He rubbed the head of the child, "What is it?"
"Astor. We have a home. Nestor said that our ancestors built back Dragon Realm. I'm sure he said that we can't lose," he innocently replied.
It was some bad words of encouragement for the old dragon. Still, the intention was for the best.
It was funny when the carpenter hit his forehead with the palm of his hand. "I meant that we can build back what we lose," he grumbled.
The dragons chuckled.
"I mean. I am happy to know I'm not the last dragon," Flame approached him with a smile, "I have a big family. I mean, you can get this place back if The Sorceress is gone."
Astor chuckled as he rubbed the face of the two younglings, "Right. Right," he stood up and gazed at his Artisan leader, "You should explain better."
Nestor pouted as he crossed his arms. The others laughed at him. The elder sighed and smiled, "We should keep moving on until it's late. We have to save our children."
"Right!" the peace keepers yelled.
Meanwhile, Malefor reached the Fireworks Factory. The moon shined in the starry sky as he landed on a tower. He looked around. The dark purple dragon noticed that the structure in this location had a strange atmosphere.
The location had a Chinese themed structure with the many brick towers just like the one he stood on. They were also many houses and a large factory where the Fireworks were made. The dragon could read it on the structure that it made those. They were lava rivers going around of it and a few grassy fields there.
He looked around for the young purple dragons or the eggs. They had been there for a while and maybe some of them had been brought to the Sorceress. That would be bad news. Still, his instinct told him that many were saved already. He spread his wings and continued his search.
"This place must had once been owned by the Artisan Dragons," Malefor commented as he looked around. He wasn't an Artisan Dragon, even if he was raised by one. He was a Peace Keeper by birth. Still, he remembered when he watched the fireworks long ago. He remembered the beautiful explosions when he watched them with Astor. He really missed his father. He sighed. He looked around and noticed something.
A small human was in a case, surrounded by Rhynocs who wore ninja costumes. They held a few katanas, kunai and shuriken. They were watching the girl.
"A human in trouble," he muttered.
The human looked at the guards and grunted, "You'll regret putting me in a cage. When my brother and Agent Zero is going to be here, you are going to regret it. If not them, Spyro will torch you!" she pointed her fingers at them.
"Enough Greta. You think this dragon is going to save you? Your kind's enemy won't come to save you," one of them replied. He raised his chest, "The Sorceress will punish them all. That little purple dragon is about to get crush by her magic! You will be executed soon for trying to save the eggs."
"The President will never forgive you for it. You want a war against us?"
They were a little nervous now. They never had any interactions with the humans, but they knew that making them an enemy wasn't a good idea.
Malefor heard enough as the girl stuck out her tongue as if she had won. The dragon knew she was on Spyro side. He landed on the ground brutally behind the ninjas humanoid rhinoceros and looked down at them, "Release the human now Rhynocs or I won't be merciful in my wrath?"
"N-no sparing?" one of them asked, wondering why he said that.
"Not for those who stole the kingdom of my ancestors!" he growled at them as he crossed his arms.
"Attack him!" one of them ordered.
They jumped on the side and escaped from the dark purple dragon sight. He looked around, but saw no enemies. He quietly growled as his muscles inflated lightly, anticipating the attack.
"Take this!" someone yelled.
He jumped on the side and shuriken passed near his face and were stuck on the ground. He jumped on the side when more attacks came at him. He rolled on the ground when more came for him.
"Nice one!" Greta encouraged him, "Careful of those ninjas!"
The dark purple dragon heard her. He knew a little about those ninjas from the old books. They were master of stealth attack. He jumped on the side when more came towards him. He raised his shoulders and one kunai pierced his arm. He painfully winced as he took it out of his arm and threw it on the ground. Malefor chuckled. He prepared his counter attack.
He put his claws on the bracelet and grinned, "Come at me. You will regret challenging me. I am Malefor and I shall be the one who shall bring The Sorceress down."
He saw more weapons coming at him and got glimpses of the ninjas. His grin grew wider than before and suddenly disappeared.
The Rhynocs landed on the ground and searched for the dragon. They waited for him to come. One of them disappeared.
"W-what? What is it?" one of them asked as they looked around.
Malefor appeared behind them, "Am I too… quick for you?" he dropped the Rhynoc he took and left him on the ground. He chuckled as he crossed his arms, "Who's next?"
"Attack!" one of them ordered.
They jumped at him, but the large Peace Keeper disappeared once again. One by one, the ninjas disappeared or were knocked out by a punch. They were fearing the dark purple dragon now. They wanted to retreat, but it would be worse if they were in the ire of The Sorceress. They tried to crush the scaly monster, but they couldn't do anything against him.
Soon, there was only one left on his feet. His legs were shaking loudly while his fangs clacked loudly. He looked around quickly as he was on his knees, "P-please."
Malefor stood behind him. He felt impowered. He saw the Rhynoc on his knees and begging for his life.
Greta watched this, "You won dragon. You can stop now!"
The dragon gazed at her as he grabbed the ninja, "They put you in jail, right?"
"Yes, but stop. Are you like The Sorceress?" the human asked innocently.
He stopped and gazed at him. His sense of power quickly calmed down. He took a deep breath when he remembered what Astor taught him. He sighed loudly, "Astor wouldn't want me to be cruel," he dropped him on the ground, "Go. Be lucky I spare you."
The enemy quickly ran away from the dragon.
Malefor took a deep breath once again and sighed loudly. He turned towards the human, "You're right. If I was like her… I wouldn't spare him… And eliminated them," he pointed at those he knocked them out. He thought back of the one he spared. He lightly shivered at the thought. He was about to kill the Rhynoc. He gazed at his hands. It was the first time his mind went dark against someone who served The Sorceress. He knew nothing of what she might had done to them. Did she force them to serve her? Maybe yes, maybe no. He put his hands down.
He approached the cage and with one swift move, he broke the cage, "There."
The girl went out, "Thanks… I should call Spyro and the others and tell them I'm out."
"Spyro… Do you know where he is? He must still be alone on his own," he kneeled down as he demanded an answer.
She put her hand on her hear, for something that confused the dark purple dragon, "Spyro? Agent Zero? Can you hear me?"
"Greta. Where are you? We just reached the Evening Lake," the purple dragon replied.
"I'm at the Fireworks factory. Never mind that. I am out of my cage."
"You are incredibly talented Greta!" Agent Zero replied before Spyro. After this, she couldn't hear anything because of the interference.
"I'll explain everything to you after Agent Zero. Spyro really needs to hear this."
"Hear what?"
The dark purple dragon wondered if she used telekinesis or she was just turning insane. Humans had little abilities, from everything he learned in his life.
"A dragon just saved me and beat those Rhynocs with some cool power," she told him.
"A… dragon. But they are all here. They are no other dragons who came with my dads," Spyro replied sceptically.
The girl heard someone muttering something on his mic, probably another dragon who got the communication system.
"What's your name?" Greta asked.
"Malefor," he replied as he crossed his arms. He gazed around in case more Rhynocs would come, of if there was an egg close by.
"He says his name is Malefor."
"Malefor is here? H-how?" the purple dragon asked at the other side of the line, "Hum… He came with you? Malefor is with you?"
"Yes. He's still here."
"Can you thank him for saving a friend."
Greta realised she forgot to do that, "Oh yeah. Malefor. Thanks for saving me and Spyro said the same."
"Can I say something to him?"
"Sure," she took off the communication device and offered it to Malefor, "Put it in our ears and put your claw on it to talk with him. After this, I need it back please. I don't have another one."
"Right," he did so, thinking git was just a piece of junk. He pressed on it, "Hum… Spyro?"
At the other side of the line, Spyro let out a large smile while Titan frowned. He didn't like what he was hearing. Especially how friendly and happy the youngling was.
"Yes dad?" he replied.
The leader of the Peace Keepers blinked twice. He wanted to just destroy that Malefor for getting that close to their child. He knew the evil dragon from his reputations and what he learned from his pa when he was a child. Getting close to that purple dragon was no good news. He wanted to press his claws.
"It's… she's not insane, H-hey! Human Calm down! A-anyway. You're okay?"
"Yeah. I'm with my dads. I was hurt a little earlier, but I'm all good now."
"Hurt? What happened?" Malefor worryingly asked.
"A powerful beast attacked me and they saved me. He was too much since I can't fly. Then, I beat one of The Sorceress monsters with the help of a sergeant penguin guy."
"Sgt Byrd."
"Sgt Byrd!" he said the name correctly.
"Spyro. I'm still searching for you. I can't enter in The Sorceress castle and make her pay for everything she did at our ancestors. I know your dads are here, but I don't want you to get hurt again."
Sparx was on the horn of his friend and told him to not say too much.
"We'll go to the Fire Factory once's we find the eggs here and we will save my siblings together with my other dads!" he replied.
Titan slapped his muzzle and groaned loudly at that terrible idea.
"Okay. I'll wait for you here," Malefor replied.
"Cool! We will save everyone together," he replied. He heard something.
"It's me Greta. I'll take with Agent Zero now," she told him.
"Okay!" he put his claw away and turned to his dads and his brother, "Malefor is here and he's waiting for us to save our siblings."
Titan gazed at Nestor and urged him quietly to say something about this right now. The orange dragon tail was quickly moving left and right in worrisome.
"Another one of my dads is here. Cool. I wonder what he looks like. He might be strong," Flame excitedly replied.
The leader of the Peace Keepers was waving his arm at the green dragon, almost quietly yelling to stop this problem before it grew bigger.
The carpenter sighed. He gave a quick gaze at Astor. He could see the elder dragon squinting his eyes, waiting to hear what the other dragon would say. He knew the mauve dragon would defend Malefor without hesitation and took a chance to see him again, "Spyro. Flame. You need to calm down a little," he kneeled down. He searched for the right words. Compared to Titan, they never saw the dark purple dragon when he got out, "I know you are happy to see him again after so long, but remember that Malefor isn't that good of a dragon. He didn't try to find you from the beginning."
"He knew you were there right?" the purple dragon asked.
"Yes," Astor agreed with him. He could only believe that.
Nestor knew he had no chance to change his mind, "Just, be careful around him."
"Come on Nestor!" Titan yelled.
"We will talk about this later," the green dragon replied. He approached the other leader and Bruno who came to complain too, "Later, the three of us. You don't know everything that transpired before Malefor was freed."
The two gazed at the leader of the Artisan Dragons and decided to let it go for when the night would settle in. They began to hunt for the dragon eggs.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. Hope you lived it.
Next: The Twin Fire Dragon Beasts.
The Sorceress sent two Twin Fire Dragon Beasts after the dragons as they approached the factory. Alas, a trap was put to isolate the child once again. Two beasts against Spyro was too much.
