Chapter 45

Out at the Snyder farm Molly was sitting out on the patio, staring infront of her, when Holden came outside as well;" Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." answered his girlfriend looking up;" Why wouldn't I be?"

"Maybe because you have been looking worried ever since Jack left ten minutes ago to go back to the station." said Holden and sat down next to her;" Are you worried about how Carly will react to what Jack has in mind for next week?"

"Can you blame me?" asked she softly;" Don't you think that Jack might be jumping the gun with his plan to show Carly that he's serious about being with her again?"

"It might seem a bit soon, but maybe that's a good thing. This might just be the thing that they need to get back on track." replied her boyfriend;" Maybe it will all work out just fine next week and for all you know Carly could just love it."

"Have you forgotten that jack is still married to a wife who is refusing to give him a divorce, Holden? That he has a wife who hates Carly and told my cousin that she won't let Jack go?" sighed Molly;" I don't think that Jack has really thought this new idea of his through. And aren't you forgetting that all this stress and drama isn't all that good for my cousin, who is still a recovering alcoholic?"

"I know. But maybe the whole Janet problem will be fixed by valentine's day and then all the stress and drama will be over." answered he;" And it might seem sudden this new idea of Jack's, but that doesn't mean that he isn't serious about it."

"Maybe." said his girlfriend not convinced;" I'm just worried about my cousin. I don't know how much more she can take. I don't want her to have a relaps."

"Carly is a strong woman and she can take more then you give her credit for." replied Holden as he pulled Molly into his arms and kissed her;" It will be okay, honey. I promise."

Later that day Carly was cleaning up in the living room while Sage was upstairs in her room and the boys were out to the store when the doorbell rang. As she opened up the door she saw Jack standing there;" Hey."

"Hey, Jack. What are you doing here?" asked Carly a bit surprised and not sure how to act after the way that things had ended the night before.

"Do I need a reason?" replied he with a faint smile as she let him in;" Where are the kids?"

"Sage is upstairs and the boys went to the store." answered his ex hesitating;" About last night…."

"You don't have to say anything, honey. I understand why you reacted the way that you did and it's okay." began Jack slowly and pulled Carly on to the couch, next to him;" I haven't given you much reason to believe anything that I say. You have every right to doubt that we will make it this time around, Carly. But I promise you that I will show you that things will be different this time and that we will be together forever, as a family."

"It's not that I don't want to believe you. I do!" sighed she;" It's just…."

"I know." said her ex and took her hand into his;" All I'm asking is for you to give me a chance to show you how serious I am about us and that I will never leave you again or the kids."

"Okay." replied Carly with a faint smile. She wanted to say something else when all of a sudden Sage came running down the stairs. Quickly she pulled back her hand and moved away from Jack a little;" How many times have I told you not to run down the stairs like that, Sage Snyder? You could fall and hurt yourself!"

"Yes, mom. I know." smiled she and nearly jumped on to the couch, next to her father;" Mom worries way too much, dad."

"No, I don't." answered her mother with a laugh as she jokingly pointed at Jack;" Don't you dare say yes, Jack Snyder!"

"I wouldn't dare." laughed he with a wink at Sage.
