November 5; 7:42pm
Dixie laughed as she watched two of her brothers bicker as she watched laying down on the couch on Damian's lap, her oldest brother not doing anything to stop the two of them. Both Tim and Jason have been at this since dinner and yet no one made a move to stop them, knowing that it was only sibling fights and nothing was really meant.
"Who else would have 'accidentally' renamed all my files in my computer beside you?!" Tim yelled.
"Hey! You have zero proof it was me!" Jason huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Do you want me to show you the files that say 'Jason rulez and Drake stinks'?! Doesn't take a brain to tell who did it!"
Dixie chuckled, glancing up at Damian from his lap. "When do you think they'll storm off into their own rooms?"
"Knowing the both of them, they won't last for five more minutes," Damian smirks.
The thirteen-year-old chuckles as she looks back at her two bickering brothers.
"Can't you just let me live in peace?!" Tim yelled exasperatedly and suddenly he disappeared and Dixie's head landed harshly on the couch.
"What?" Dixie shot up from the couch looking around. "Where did Tim and Damian go?"
"Jay?! Dixie?!" Tim yelled as he and Damian scrambled around the room. After yelling that, it felt like the world cast an uno reverse. Once their two younger siblings disappeared right in front of their eyes, Damian lept of the couch, confused and angry.
"What did you do Drake?!" Damian yelled.
"What do you mean what did I do?!" Tim turned to glare at the oldest.
"I don't know! You were fighting with Todd then you told how you wanted peace and next thing I know both Todd and Dixie are gone!"
"What is with all this ruckus?!" Alfred stepped out of the kitchen, looking like he was about to blow a fuse but both brothers didn't care about that right now, too focused on their suddenly missing younger siblings than the fact that the English butler was ready to scold them to no tomorrow.
"Dixie and Jason disappeared!" Tim told the butler.
Alfred seemed to glance between the two boys with a raised eyebrow before deciding that they were indeed not pulling a prank on him. "Disappeared?"
"Just 'poof'! Gone!"
"Then this is a problem for Batman," the butler said, going to the old grandfather clock.
"Everyone above the age of eighteen is gone," Jason said as he typed away at the computer. "I only see seventeen-year-old talking about it on the internet."
"Guess you missed by a year then," Dixie tried to joke but it was obvious to the both of them that it was very forced. "We have to go out, who knows how many children are out there alone in their house or in the streets."
"Incoming call from Mount Justice," the computer said, a window opening up.
"Glasses," Dixie said as she placed her own sunglasses, her brother doing the same. The thirteen-year-old pressed the button, answering the video call revealing Wally and Zatar, the both of them looking relieved at seeing her.
"Rob!" Wally yelled in relief.
"Gee, thanks for noticing that here too, KF," Jason said, rolling his eyes behind sunglasses but there was a playful smirk on his face.
"Sorry, Hood," Wally said, scratching the back of his head.
"Robin," Zatar said, his eyes sad and panicked at the same time. "Batman, my dad, and all the adults, they just-"
"Disappeared," Dixie finished with a frown. She exchanged glances with her brother, both of them frowning. "So it isn't just Gotham then," she sighs. "If this is a global scale…"
Jason frowned as well, "You go to Mount Justice, I'll do what I can here, stay on a connected line with me."
"I'll keep you updated," Dixie said as she ran off to the Zeta-Tube, transporting herself to the cave where she saw Wally and Zatar ending the call with her brother. "Where are the others?"
"Conner, M'gann, and Artemis went out to help handle the situation," Zatar informed her. "Kaldur went to try to contact any other hero and his friends down at Atlantis."
Robin nodded, "Do we have any idea who could have done it?"
Zatar shook his head, frowning. "My dad hasn't taught me any spells for tracking spells, especially not something to this extent."
"What about that time during the plant attack by the Injustice League," Wally speaks up. "He used magic to track where they were, didn't he? Could you just use the same spell he did?"
"If you have a recording of it I can try," Zatar said. "I probably won't get it right the first try but there's no hurt in trying it."
Robin smiles at this, raising an eyebrow. "Wow, it wasn't even a year ago when you adamantly denied that magic was real and here you are talking about it like you didn't have a problem about it."
Wally coughs, straightening. "That- I- Magic can still be explained by science, it's just that there are some aspects that we don't understand about it, that's all."
"Uh-huh," Robin laughs before bringing up a holo-computer. "Go help the others, Zatar and I can work on that tracking spell, figure out what's going on."
The speedster nods, speeding off to help.
"The rest of the team disappeared as well," Batman tells them. "Children below the age of eighteen have gone missing all over the world."
"Gotham is in chaos," Tim informs him, looking through the countless articles about parents going mad with worry over the disappearance of their children. "There are riots happening, people demanding what happened."
"I need the two of you to handle the situation there in Gotham, the League would be deployed as well. In the meantime, Zatara and I will figure out what happened," Batman orders them, Tim nodding before disconnecting the call.
"Any luck?" Zatar asks.
"Negative," the Dark Knight frowns. The magician sighs, turning to walk away.
"Batman to Watch Tower," Batman says, calling their headquarters.
"Batman, why aren't you here?" Superman says, answering from his watch duty. "We're discussing our plan on action."
"I'm at Mount Justice with Zatar," Batman informs him. "There's no need to hold a plan of action, world governments are in need of help with the mass protests happening, the League needs to step in."
"But what off-"
"Zatara and I will investigate the situation while the rest of the League handle the protests, will inform you of any changes or information about the situation," Batman cut him off.
"Will do, Superman out."
"We've set up a refugee center in the high school gym," Wally informs her over a call. "Any luck with-"
"No," Robin cuts him off, a bit angry over the lack of information. "Can't reach the Hall of Justice or the Watch… or any adult hero, even Red Arrow."
"Guess we're on our own," Wally sighs. "Kid Flash, out."
The call disconnects and Robin sighs.
"Traditional media's offline," Zatar informs her, trying to find any information as well. "But kids worldwide are all posting the same thing. Every adult, 18 or older has disappeared. The sorcery necessary to pull this off…"
"And we need you to find its source," Robin tells him.
"How am I-"
"I found the video," Robin tells him, bringing up the video.
Zatar walks up to her, a frown on his face. "But the- the words, I mean, that's only part of it. The rest takes training and- Robin, I'm- I'm not on my dad's level."
Robin frowns, turning to look at the magician, "I know it's hard but try to stay whelmed. We'll find your dad, Batman, all of them. That's what we do."
Zatar sighs, a small smile on his face. "Thanks."
"Hey, no problem," Robin smiles, elbowing the teenager. "That's what friends do, besides, I might have an idea on who could have pulled it off."
"You do?" Zatar asks, looking a bit shocked.
"Can't say for certain, start contacting the others, I'll try to reach Red Hood and compare notes with him, see if he found anything valuable," Robin tells him. The magician nods, turning away to try to reach the rest of the team, in the meantime, the Girl Wonder contacts her brother.
Red Hood picks up her call on the second ring, "Robin, any luck?"
The Girl Wonder sighs, running her hand through her hair. "I was hoping you had something," she slumps. "Zatar is going to try a locator spell Zatara did to track the attack of the Injustice League, other than that, we still have no clue what happened. Have you reached anyone? How about Spoiler and Black Bat?"
"Nothing," Red Hood tells her. "I'm guessing you tried contacting the Watch-"
"Yeah," she said, cutting him off, turning back to see if Zatar or anyone overheard him. Sighing in relief when no one was there and when the magician didn't seem to hear anything. "I even tried contacting Red Arrow."
Her brother was quiet and Robin felt bad for her brother, unlike her who had her whole team, all her friends, and best friend, Jason had no one but her at the moment. "I'm coming over," Robin decided, ready to leave to go to her brother.
"No," her brother said, voice firm, leaving her no room to deny. "I'll help around, there are still babies and children by themselves all over the city, I want you and the Team to find out what caused the situation. Keep me updated as well."
Robin frowns but nods, "Fine but you better keep in touch as well.
"Of course. Red Hood out."
Robin sighs as the call ends before turning to face Zatar who was watching her in worry.
"You okay?" the magician frowns.
"Peachy but who isn't?" Robin smiles. "Did you contact the others?"
"They're on their way," Zatar informs her.
"Good, let's go change while waiting," Robin says, the magician nodding before the two of them went to their own rooms to change into their suits.
"So, how desperate are we?" Zatara asks as he stares in front of the shelves filled with souvenirs, his eyes particularly trained on one item on the shelf.
"I informed the WatchTower you located the focal point of Roanoke," Batman tells him, walking to stand beside the magician. "But the rest of the League is deployed to avert the chaos. Tornado, you, and I are on our own."
"I would do anything to get my son back," Zatar says, turning to face the golden helmet.
"Yes but we both know there are many ways for you to lose him," Batman says, knowing full well what the magician was thinking of doing.
"So… not that desperate. Not yet," Zatar says. "The entire League is unavailable?"
"Except perhaps for Captain Marvel. He's missing."
Robin, now in her suit, walks back to the main deck, Miss Martian, Superboy, and Artemis already there talking with Zatar. "Where's KF and Aqualad?" she asks, making her presence known to them.
"Aqualad went to get him," Zatar answers but he looked troubled. "But he said there are no adults in Atlantis either. Robin… this locating spell… I don't think I'm trained enough to do it."
Robin smiles at the magician, walking over to him and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Hey, what did we talk about earlier? There's no hurt in trying, if it fails then we make a new plan."
Zatar looks at her before nodding, "Okay, okay. I- I'll try. I'll call Aqualad and Kid Flash."
Zatar leaves the room, Robin watching him leave with a frown.
"You've gotten quite close to him," Artemis smiles cheekily, placing her hand around the Girl Wonder.
"What? No, we haven't," Robin denies, bringing up a holo-computer.
"Really? That's not what I heard," the archer continued to tease. "He told me on Halloween how the two of you stayed up almost the whole night talking on the phone one time."
"Can't talk to a teammate outside of work?"
"No, but why haven't you called any of us then? The last time I remembered is that you only did those late-night calls with Kid Idiot."
"What are you guys talking about?" Miss Martian says, flying over to hear their conversation.
"Nothing," Robin quickly says, earning a snicker from the green archer. "Really, it's nothing, just Artemis playing detective."
"Ohh, can I play," Miss Martian asks happily.
"Sure, we're trying to think who could have cast this spell," Robin smirks as Artemis's smile disappears. "Especially on such a global level, any bets?"
"How about that guy from the Injustice League? Wotan was his name if I remember correctly," Miss Martian says.
"Last time I checked, he was still locked up in Arkham," Robin frowns. "Besides, I doubt he has enough energy after pulling that last stunt."
"Robin," Zatar says, entering the room, Kid Flash and Aqualad trailing behind him. "I'm ready."
Robin smiles at the magician, bringing up a figure of the globe. They watch as the magician walks up to the globe, looking anxious. The team watches with held breaths as the magician chants the spell but ultimately smiling in relief as a red dot appears on the map.
Robin doesn't waste a second and triangulates the location. "Coordinates locked. Roanoke Island. You did it."
"We have our location, let's get ready to depart," Aqualad orders, everyone nodding when there was a sudden sound of thunder and the lights flashes for a second.
"It works!"
They all turn to see a kid no older than ten-year-old standing there inside the cave.
"Where did you come from?" Aqualad asks, walking over to the kid. "Who are you?"
The kid smiles, turning to face Miss Martian. "Quick, read my mind."
The Martian gasps, "He's Captain Marvel"
Robin wants to smack her head, of course, that's why the kid looks so familiar.
"Yeah and I'm Speedy Gonzalez," Kid Flash rolls his eyes. "Look, just because he believes he's Capt-"
"Gee, Wally, do I really have to bring you nachos and pineapple juice to get on your good side," Billy asks with a playful smirk on his face.
"Great to finally meet you outside of your costume," Robin smiles, clapping Billy on the back as everyone stared at Miss Martian, looking a bit shocked.
"Wait, what? How?" Kid Flash asks.
"How'd you know?" Billy asks, looking a bit frightened at the Girl Wonder knowing his identity.
"I work with the Bat," Robin smiles. "Do you really think you would have been accepted in the League if he didn't do background checks on you?"
Billy opens his mouth before closing it. "Good point."
"Uhh, sorry to interrupt uh, whatever this is," Kid Flash says, waving his hands around. "But care to explain how he's Captain Marvel."
"Maybe after we solve the issue at hand, yeah?" Robin smiles, Billy sagging in relief. "Can't wait to tell Hood about this."
"Why haven't you come to the Cave sooner?" Superboy asks.
"And why the flashy lights?" Artemis adds.
"That's the thing! I can shift between both worlds!" Billy exclaims.
"What do you mean by both worlds?" Zatar asks.
"I was just talking to your father and Batman here in the Cave," Billy says, turning to face the magician. "There are two worlds- two dimensions, one for adults and one for kids."
"And since you can travel between them, we have a solid link to communicate with Batman and the others," Robin smiles.
"Yeah!" Billy smiled.
"Then we better start connecting notes," Robin smiles.
After communicating with Zatarra, Red Tornado, and Batman through the constant shifting of Captain Marvel, both teams, adults and teens, were ready to head to Roanoke Island to face whoever was at fault for this.
"How about the Demon Spawn and Red?" Jason asks over the call.
"Didn't get to ask but from what I was told, the rest of the League were deployed to handle the riots," Robin tells him, walking over to the Bio-ship. "Are you sure you don't want to come? The Team and I could use a set of extra hands."
"No, with the Team away, there are more houses for me to search, more children to handle," her brother shot down causing her to frown in disappointment. Jason, even though they were only calling through audio seemed to sense this. "But if the Team needs back-up, I'll be there."
"Okay, I'll keep you updated."
"You better," Jason ended the call and Robin turned to face the rest of the Team.
"Well guess it's just us," Robin told them.
"Then let's get a move on," Aqualad said, Miss Martian nodded and they were off to Roanoke Island.
