Chapter Forty-Six

Saturday arrived quickly. The rest of the class was gone. Or rather Jaden, Chumley, Syrus and Alexis were. Norika had arranged a schedule with Bastion for tutoring, so technically, she was gone too. Connar and Chazz decided to follow through on their plans for a study session in their absence. She stumbled around, scattered, making sure her room was presentable before welcomeing Chazz inside.
"Hey...not a bad spread out." he chuckled as he walked in with both hands carying a bag of fine foods.
"Well...it makes do for being maybe a fourth of the size of my closet." Connar joked. She had a few imports her father had sent her for personal 'home improvements'. He basically sent a gift every time she aced an exam. Nothing too big or too fancy, but absolutely nothing less than top quality. She even had a nice little tv with a couple game systems to entertain herself on the off days and breaks when she couldn't go home. SHe and Norika broke those in pretty quickly.
"Hey...whatever works." Chazz said as he began to spread out a fancy make shift picnic in the middle of her plush rug on the floor. It was a nice spread of imported food and snacks. Nothing as fancy as a 10 course meal...but a definite upgrade from the Slifer Cafeteria. They shared small talk and banter as they munched on fine dining and even played a few rounds on the game systems.
" You know Princeton..." Connar giggled,"This is fun and all but...didn't we say we were going to study?"
"Yeah, Yeah." Chazz laughed putting down the game controller in order to pull out the course's textbook and materials,"Come on then." he chuckled,"Let's crack open some books."
It was a long session. It lasted hours and the light in the day soon began to turn orange to signify that the day was ending.
"Say Connie...did you understand this question at all?" Chazz asked. But her response was silent. "Connie?" He blinked and looked up, noticing that she had passed out peacefully against the wall with the open book on her lap.
"...You dork." he sighed as he closed his text book. It's not like they didn't get a lot of stdying done anyway,"A lack of sleep is a Duelist's worst enemy." he chuckled removing his jacket and draping it carefully over her as she rested while he cleaned up the room.

Night had fallen now Norika had snuck her way over inside, "Thanks for tutoring, Bastion." she said softly to the Ra Yellow, "It helped a lot!"
"Glad I could be of service, my dear." he chuckled,"Now we better get some rest-or our studying will prve useless for the upcoming exam." She nodded and waved him off as he quickly crept his way down the deck stairs.
"Connar...You were totally right about talking to Bastion!" said Norika, "FOr teh first time ever, I think I might actually PASS this exam- she stopped frozen as she turned in face of what appeared to be a tender scene. Chazz and Connar were now leaned, resting against eachother in a peaceful slumber against the back wall by the window. The moonlight shone against their hair and it seemed to give them a peaceful glow while their breathing synched up as they slept soundly in this position. Norika blinked, "Oh HELL no..." she heaved a sigh, "Really!? First Jaden spent the night here...now THIS guy..." she shifted a narrow glance over to them, amd stifled a gentle chuckle.
"...You know what? Never mind..." she said softly as she took a blanket from one of the middle bunk and draped it over both of them,"Looks like you were up to something more important." she said teasingly removing the girl's headband to lay it on her imported night stand so that she didn't wake up with a headache from its pressure,"...So I'll tell you about it later." he chuckled and softly clicked off her dorm room lights before softly crawling into her own bed for the night.

The rain came down hard on Duel Academy. The lightning cracks lit the sky and the Chancellor stood before the window in the darkness with a heavy look in his eyes. He let out a gasp as the first of the unwanted guests made their presence known into the sky.
"And so it begins..." he said with a heavy sigh,"The fight...the war."
Triggered no doubt, by Connar's arrival at the Abandoned Dorm...
"Achoo!" Connar let out a sneeze and a few sniffles.
"Uh-oh, Connie." Syrus blinked,"You didn't catch a cold did you?
Serves me right for sleeping on the floor with the window open while it was raining last night...
She thought to herself between sniffles. The storm came suddenly. And her window decided to get stuck when she had opened it to let in a cool breeze and the smell of the sea while she and Chazz studied. She tried to shut it when the rains came, but suddenly she felt as if all of her energy was drained out of her and collapsed suddenly right by the window that night...
"Time to get up~" Jaden stretched with a grin,"For lunch!" he laughed pulling out a nicely packed bento box.
"Jaden...we're still in class." Connar mumbled.
"Please...like that slacker cares." muttered Chazz.
"Sorry Jaden...but it looks like your lunch will have to wait." said Professor Banner,"It seems Chancellor Sheppard would like to have a word with you."
"Chancellor Sheppard!?" Syrus sighed,"Jaden...what'd you do?"
"The better question to be asking SyRy...is what didn't he do? "
"HaHaHa" Good one, Connie~" beamed Norika.
"ACHOO!"
That one had a little whip lash that caused Connar to groan and place her head down on her arms.
"I think an even better question is what happened to you?" Jaden blinked as he patted the pink haired girl's feverish head,"Seems like you caught a cold there, Connie...and not a pretty one."
"Well I can't say much for Connar's cold." said Chazz, "But I can say that it's never good news with Sheppard!" Chazz laughed,"You're so busted!"
"Actually, Chazz...he wants to see you too." said Preofessor Banner.
"He Wha!?"
"And some others." he stated,"You, Bastion, You Alexis...and then there is also ."
"Well...this doesn't sound good..." Norika groaned as she looked upon her targetted friend with concern.

They all gathered in the halls making the trip to see the Chancellor while being escorted by Professor Banner.
"Haha...take a breather Connar, You might choke." Norika chuckled awkwardly as the pinkette continued her wave of uncontrolable sneezing, after having insisted she take the trek with Connar at least. Though she would probably be forced to stay in the hall. "See, I told you studying would make you sick."
"If that's so..." said Bastion, "Then how come neither you nor I are sick...we studied too."
"Oh, you're right..." Norika blinked, "Then it must have been Chazz~"
"Don't you dare blame me!" he huffed, "You're just mad because we actually have a long term goal of graduating?"
"Nerds." Norika mumbled.
" I have come to notice you've seemed a bit scattered lately, Connar..." said Bastion as he pondered for a moment.
"He's right Connie." Jaden blinked,"You seem to be more tired than usual." he stated.
"Honestly I don't know what it is..." said Connar,"I'm just feeling more drained lately..."
"So she studies well. She tests well. Yet somehow she still resides in the Slacker dorm. Amusing." Coming in from the other direction also came, escorting Zane Truesdale."My my...look at this compilation of students~" chimed,"Uh oh...it seems we have a few red wonders~ Are you lost?"
"He is not!" Jaden stated,"Chazz was invited."
"Uhm...there are three of you wearing red!" Chazz huffed,"But I'm pretty sure he's talking about you."
"But you're a Slifer too, Chazz~" Jaden teased,"That makes four!"
"I'm not like you!" Chazz huffed,"And Connar is-"
She shot the male student an icy blue stare which he took as a warning to keep his mouth shut,"...Better than you." he huffed with crossed arms,"
"How do you know that!?" Jaden asked.
"Easy! I watched her beat you myself!" he stated then let out a gasp and covered his mouth.
"Princeton!?" she blinked,"When did you see that!?"
"Th-That is-uh-w-well..." he gulped.
What do I tell her!?
That I was spying!?
Sure!
That's not creepy at all~
It's a shame she's too close to that Slifer Slacker really...
Dr. Crowler thought to himself.
I could have used her to possibly get rid of him!
He sighed and shrugged his shoulders as the accused all gathered within the Chancellor's office.
