Happy Valentine's Day
"Goodnight my little princess." Stacie said as she placed Bella in her crib gently. She placed a soft kiss on Bella's cheek and turned on the monitor before she walked out the room. Stacie placed the monitor on the kitchen counter and turned the volume all the way up just in case Bella woke up. She walked over to her fridge and pulled out a bottle of wine and grabbed a glass.
She pours herself a glass of wine and holds it in the air "To being alone just like every other Valentine's Day." She said to herself before taking a sip and sitting down on the stool with a sad sigh as tears brimmed in her eyes.
Here she is six months after giving birth all alone on what's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year. She wasn't talking to anyone, didn't have a date or a relationship since no one her age wanted to date a twenty-one year with a kid. To make matters worse, she didn't even have her best friend living with her anymore. A few months ago, Beca actually got offered a job at a label and after having countless conversations with Stacie about it, she ultimately took it, but it meant that she'd have to move closer to the studio which was two hours away. Stacie obviously couldn't be any happier for her best friend who deserved this especially after those long nine months of her pregnancy, but she missed having someone to talk to whenever, hang out with whenever or even be able to go out with on these types of days just so they wouldn't be stuck at home.
She placed the glass down and looked at her phone, more specifically the Bellas group chat where Chloe had asked what everyone's plans were. She saw how everyone had answered that they were going out with someone, everyone but Beca who had yet answered but that wasn't a shock considering Beca rarely responded to texts. Stacie had answered she was staying in since no one could watch Bella. She didn't mind staying with her daughter, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't want to be out on some type of date tonight.
Just as she was about to take another sip there was a gentle knock at her door. She got up confused as she wasn't expecting anyone since everyone had plans. She walked to door and opened it.
"What are you doing here?" Stacie asked confused.
"You said you were by yourself in the chat, so I figured why not just spend this day together." Beca answered with a shrug like it was no big deal.
"But you work today, you don't get off till 9pm and its 7." Stacie said back.
"True but I told them I had something to do and that something was spend the day with you, well night I guess since the day already ended." Beca said.
Stacie couldn't believe Beca, the person who absolutely hated this day and anything mushy, was actually here doing something like this. All things considered she really shouldn't be surprised that Beca would do something like this since Beca has always done whatever it took to make her feel better and put a smile on her face. The smaller girl has proven that time and time again including obviously the pregnancy and even the first few months after she gave birth. She often thought about Beca and just how much she has grown to love her.
"Come in." Stacie said with a smile as she moved to side.
Beca walked in and stood over to the side with her arms still behind her back. Once Stacie looked the door and turned to face her, she moved her arms from behind her back.
"I uh got you these." Beca said holding out a dozen white roses and a party bag of peanut M&M's.
This brought an even bigger smile to Stacie's face as the taller girl grabbed the roses and gave them a whiff.
"I love them, thank you so much Becs." Stacie said as she walked over to where she had an empty vase.
"I remember you telling me they were your favorites." Beca said a smile.
Stacie placed them in vase with water and put it in the middle of her dining table. She walked over to Beca and gave her hug.
"You didn't have to do this, but I really do appreciate it." Stacie said softly.
Beca returned the embrace "Hey I figured it's the least I can do. I know how it's been for you even without you telling me, you deserve this type of stuff Stace." Beca said.
"Thank you. Whine?" Stacie asked breaking the embrace.
Beca shrugged "Sure why not."
Stacie quickly serves Beca a glass of wine and the two-take seat on the sofa as Beca opens up the bag of M&M's.
"How's the little one been?" Beca asked.
"She's been good, just wish she'd let me have one full night of sleep." Stacie said.
"I don't think you'll be getting that anytime soon." Beca joked "Everything good with the nursery?" Beca asked.
"It's perfect. I still can't believe you organized all that." Stacie said with a shake of her head.
The surprise Beca had for Stacie was that she had actually contacted someone she knew to come over while Stacie was in the hospital and turn her bedroom into a nursery for Bella. Beca along with Stacie's parents had bought most of the essentials and gotten everything needed to make sure Bella had a nice nursery that'd last a while.
"It was nothing." Beca said with a shrug.
Beca grabbed her glass and raised it up causing Stacie to raise her's as well.
"To Cupid and his oh so wonderful day." Beca toasted sarcastically causing Stacie to let out a chuckle as she clanked her glass with Beca's.
The two spent the next few minutes drinking wine, eating M&M's and talking about how Beca's job has been going.
"Want another glass?" Stacie asked.
"You trying to get me drunk?" Beca asked with a chuckle.
"Maybe." Stacie winked.
Beca chuckled "If you want some action just tell me, no need to get me drunk you know." Beca smirked.
"I'll keep that in mind then." Stacie smirked back as she poured Beca another glass.
"You know I still need to drive right?" Beca asked raising a brow.
"You can just stay here." Stacie answered.
"Is that so?" Beca said playfully.
Stacie nodded "Whenever you want." She winked.
"Don't tempt me Conrad." Beca said taking a sip of her drink.
The two kept going back and forth in their usual teasing playful manner as they finished the last glass of wine.
"I really needed this, thank you." Stacie said.
Beca patted her thigh "Anytime Stace."
Stacie smiled and placed her hand on top Beca's holding it and giving it a gentle squeeze.
Both girls just sat there looking at one another with a smile on both their faces. They were so caught up that neither one realized they were both leaning closer to one another until they came face to face, they didn't know if it was the whine or just feelings, they hadn't come to terms with but once their lips touched, they knew there was something there.
