Chapter 47 Beyond the wilds

It's been a couple weeks since Ba Sin Se and since they learned the truth from The Chronicler about why this was all happening and the origins of the Dark Master. (Sora did you not consider he can only intervene on certain events due to certain outcomes or when something needs to be changed for the good of all?)

Since then the world was getting its armies ready to face this Dark Master and Vlad who they believed would attack Republic City.

Right now everyone was at Irons office to talk about the events.

"I say we find Vlad now and Nuke his ass it'll cripple his forces." Reznov said.

"We're not doing that. We don't even know where the hell he is." Hudson said.

"It doesn't matter. We end him and his army in one strike we can conserve our armies to fighting the Dark Master when he returns." Reznov said.

"He's got a point." Woods said.

"No nukes and no preemptive strikes. Besides even if he has some of Kuvira's army theres no way he has anything that can cause a problem for us." Sean said.

"Uh." Bolin tried to say.

"What is it?" Adler asked.

"Well...Before we escaped Kuvira had Varrick and Zhi Li working on a new super weapon." Bolin said.

"Super Weapon? What does it do?" Korra asked.

"Just for the record I did try to stop her and did from completing it. We were using spirit vines to to draw energy from them to power up anything...But well...I created a new weapon and I tried to tell her no but she threatened to kill me." Varrick said.

"Since when do you say no?" Asami asked frowning at him.

"I know it's not like me. But either way I made sure the whole project would never continue." Varrick said proudly while Bolin glared at him which everyone noticed.

"What exactly happened?" Mako asked.

"He nearly blew us up if I didn't find that hatch." Bolin said.

"Now you see why you shouldn't admire him? Dumbass?" Sean asked amused.

"I learned my lesson." Bolin said.

"And theres the time you worked for the Triple Threats to make some cash for that pro bending pot. Then theres Dating Eska who treated you like shit...Actually worse than shit. And now working for Kuvira." Sean said making most laugh or chuckle in amusement while Bolin looked annoyed before Opal and Ikki rushed in.

"We got some serious trouble. An hour ago Vlad launched an invasion of Zaofu and took it." Opal said shocking them.

"Mother fucker." Sean said.

"Vlad wouldn't waste his time on invading one city unless there was something there he needed." Gideon said.

"Thinking theres something there?" Mitchell asked.

"I don't doubt it." Hudson said.

"Lets just launch a counter attack and take it back." Woods said.

"They'll use the people as living shields. We can't risk it. All we can do is wait." Sean said.

"I'm gonna call a meeting with the other four nation leaders about this. They all need to be alerted to this." Irons said.

"Right." Sean said as they all left.

"You think Vlad took Zaofu for a reason?" Korra asked.

"Most likely. Theres nothing to gain by just taking one city unless there was something there worth his time." Sean said holding her close.

"Whatever it is something tells me it's big." Korra said as they left.

Days later

Korra smiled as she watched Naga and Lizzie play with Junior and Diana who were playing hide and seek.

"Aw." Junior whined as Naga picked him up.

"YIKES!" Diana yelled as she ran away before Lizzie in a larger form picked her up. "No fair." Diana whined making Korra burst out laughing.

"I swear." Sean said holding Katara as he walked to Korra before sitting down as he handed her to her making Korra smile seeing her asleep.

"This isn't fair! They can smell us!" Junior yelled.

"How you holding up?" Sean asked Korra.

"I'm ok. Just enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasts." Korra said.

"I know the feeling. We won't have them for much longer when Vlad attacks. Whatever he's up to his endgame is Republic City.

Thats when they spotted Opal who looked depressed before they walked to her.

"Everything ok?" Sean asked.

"No, Vlad has my family, and no one seems to care." Opal said.

"Thats not true we all care. We just have to be cautious about this. We don't know what Vlad is capable of this time around and he has the Dark Star Saber. I remember the damage that thing did to me the first time I saw it." Sean said making Korra frown remembering how Cinder blasted Sean in the chest and nearly killed him.

"We promise we will get your family back soon." Korra said.

Thats when Jinora flew down to them.

"Guys, there you are! I just felt a weird surge of spiritual energy coming from the spirit wilds. Somethings wrong." Jinora said making them concerned.

After leaving the kids with Pema they arrived at the spirit wilds.

"Hmm. I do sense something off." Sean said.

"Are you sure you felt a disturbance? Maybe you just had some bad food for breakfast." Opal said.

"What the fuck?" Sean said looking at her like she was an idiot.

"Yeah your right thats stupid." Opal said feeling dumb for saying that.

"I'm telling you. I felt it." Jinora said.

"Hmm. Well, something does feel off." Korra said.

"It's like something disturbed the spirit wilds." Sean said.

"Maybe I can..." Korra reached to one of the vines.

"What are you doing?" Sean asked.

"While you were dead I learned a lot of things. Like how to connect to spirit energy from anywhere in the world." Korra said before she connected to it before she saw Vlad's army harnessing spirit vines in the swamp of the Earth Kingdom.

"It was Vlad. His forces are taking vines from the swamp. It must be affecting our spirit wilds." Korra said.

"That must be what Jinora was sensing earlier. The vines are connected to one another. It's pissing off the spirits." Sean said.

"Since Varrick destroyed the vines he got from here Vlad needs new ones. And the ones there are probably even stronger." Jinora said.

"We need to warn Irons about this." Korra said.

"I'll stay here to look for the tour group that was here." Jinora said as they ran off.

Meanwhile

"I understand the seriousness in this situation but the Fire Nation has been part of too many wars and started just as many and I refuse to bring my nation into another unless we have no choice." Fire Lord Izumi said.

"You didn't seem to mind the one from 5 years ago." Tonraq said.

"That was completely different. That wasn't a war it was a fight for survival against Miraak and Vaatu." Izumi said.

"She's not wrong on that." Makarov said.

"Look regardless we have to take Vlad out now. The Dark Master is commanding him and he once fought the first generation of Avatars and is responsible for every dark deed thats happened in history. And if Vlad says he's coming back...We need everyone." Irons said.

"We don't even know if he's actually coming back." Izumi said.

"He is. We have accurate confirmation from the Chronicler the first original student of the Avatars of old. He knows when these events will occur. Thats why he had Zaheer bring Sean back from the dead." Irons said making her frown at that.

"Dad!" Sean yelled rushing in.

"Sean this is a closed meeting." Irons said.

"We have some serious problems. Vlad is harvesting spirit vines from the Earth Kingdom swamp. He's trying to restart the weapon Varrick made last year." Sean said.

"Thats not good." Irons said.

"How dangerous is this weapon exactly?" Izumi asked.

"Probably strong enough to rival a nuclear warhead." Sean said making her sigh.

"Well, that changes things. I'll commit my forces to protecting Republic City but not to go on the offensive unless there is no other choice." Izumi said.

"Our forces will also be coming here." Makarov said with Tonraq agreeing.

Soon everyone was leaving.

"If he's trying to harness the vines that means Baatar is working for him." Korra said.

"I don't doubt it. Most likely as revenge for killing Kuvira." Sean said.

Thats when Jinora appeared before them in spirit form.

"Guys! The Vines! They're taking me! Help!" Jinora yelled before vanishing making them widen their eyes before rushing to the Spirit wilds.

When they arrived they saw a police blockade led by Lin before they approached her.

"We got to get in there and find Jinora." Korra said.

"I don't think anyone should be going in there right now." Lin said before more vines attacked them.

"We gotta get in there fast." Sean said as they rushed in.

"Why would the Spirit vines take Jinora and the others?" Korra asked.

"Probably because they're pissed off. Vlad is harvesting their energy for selfish reasons. That alone makes them think all humans are alike." Sean said before more vines attacked them only for Sean to cut them to pieces before they backed into a building before Korra sealed it up. "Whoa." Sean said making Korra look seeing green pods before she walked up to one before Jinora was seen inside.

"Their spirits are trapped in the spirit world." Korra said before using her water bending to try to release them but it didn't work. "It's not working. Maybe if I meditate into the spirit world, I can free them." Korra said before sitting down and got into a meditative position.

However Korra found herself not in the spirit world at all but rather a floating platform.

"This...Isn't the spirit world." Korra said.

"No it isn't." The Chronicler said making her look around.

"Look I don't have time for another history lesson. I gotta free Jinora and the others from the spirit world." Korra said.

"It's not the Spirits that have them captive. It's Vlad. He's using dark magic to capture humans in Republic City and transferring their life energy from here to the swamp to make the vines even stronger." The Chronicler said shocking her.

"How do we stop this?" Korra asked.

"This process will take several days before their life energy is depleted to the point of Death. There is something within the spirit world that can stop this and prevent Vlad from trying again. A weapon Draco created that ended the war between him and Alduin. The Blade of life. Like the Primordial of life this blade draws power everything that represents life. Go to the spirit world...And the Raava will lead you to it." The Chronicler said before she vanished.

"What happened?" Sean asked.

"The spirits aren't attacking it's Vlad. He's using them to draw their life energy to power the spirit vines even more. The Chronicler said theres a weapon called the blade of Life in the spirit world that can stop this." Korra said.

"Lets go then." Sean said turning into the Ghost Rider before opening a portal to the southern portal.

Arriving in the spirit world Raava appeared on Korra's chest.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Sean asked.

"A weapon your great grandfather created using ancient magic and the power of the Primordials. With it the blade of Life could turn the tide of the war to your favor." Raava said.

"Why hide it in the spirit world?" Korra asked.

"Because it's protected by the spirits. Those who would come here looking for it to misuse its great power would never find it. But it will reveal itself to those of Draco's bloodline or those who need it for a desperate need." Raava said as they appeared at a mountain before seeing the blade stuck in the ground with several spirits surrounding it.

Sean slowly walked to it before the spirits dispersed before Draco appeared before him.

"Long has my greatest weapon been hidden here to protect the world from such power. But in your greatest time of need you will need it to not only stop Vlad but to stop my brother. But be careful. Power can corrupt even the most noble of minds. What will you do with it when this war is over?" Draco questioned his Great Grandson.

"Put it back here where no one will ever find it again. I don't need power to bring about peace. Only actions and words." Sean said making him smile.

"Then you may have it." Draco said as he vanished before Sean pulled his Great Grandfather's sword out of the ground before it glowed brightly. (Picture the Blade of Olympus)

In the physical world the pods began to open up.

Vlad growled in rage seeing his power source for the vines was lost and could not connect to them again.

"What happened?" Baatar asked.

"Somehow my cousin has destroyed my link with the vines. Even now he is favored by the past Avatars!" Vlad yelled in rage.

Meanwhile

Sean inspected his new blade before looking at his Star Saber.

"Two powerful blades. Together you would be unstoppable." Hudson said before Sean handed the Star Saber to David.

"I only need one." Sean said making him nod as he put it on his back while Sean did the same with his new blade.

After that Sean was on the beach looking at the sea.

"That sword suits you." Korra said sitting next to him making him smirk.

"It's only temporary. Once Vlad and the Dark Master are gone I'll put it right back in the spirit world." Sean said.

"Are you ok?" Korra asked seeing the look in his eyes.

"I keep thinking what if I take out the Dark Master first. Maybe it might save him." Sean said.

"Sean...This happened before he made that deal with him. He's just so full of hate and anger. He never deserved what happened to him but he's making his own choices now. And as much as I know you hate this idea of killing him. You don't have a choice. Junior, Diana and Katara would never be safe as long as he's around." Korra said making him sigh.

"I know. I just can't help but...Hope theres a chance for him." Sean said as she held him close.

"No matter what happens though...I'll be beside you through all of it." Korra said making him nod as he held her close.
