Set pre-series when Daniel and Nikita get engaged. I know it's not what I normally write, but the idea wouldn't leave my head.
"Promise me something," Nikita was almost afraid to breathe. What was happening couldn't have been real. She had expressed disdain for having to return to work at the end of day, having to leave the warm bed with him ever so comfortably by her side. He had suggested she quit and leave the stress behind her. However, she knew the only way out of that hellhole was death- or something else equally monumental. The black velvet ring box he had placed on the mattress next to her certainly was an explosive moment. Whether it was a blessing or a curse, though, she had no idea. Overwhelming powerful emotions flooded her systems. She couldn't think. All she wanted was to feel.
"Right now, anything," Daniel seemed to have been in the same dreamlike state. Although Nikita had nudged him just a bit too harshly when he had surprised her with the proposal, he was on cloud nine. He didn't think she would've accepted so easily. They hadn't been dating for long; they had only known each other for three months. But, he was always certain of his feelings. And his feelings for her had hit him hard. He had never met anyone like her. She was fascinating, and fun, and witty. It would've meant everything if he had the chance to spend forever with her enticing beauty. The fact that she had agreed to that made him want to burst in excitement.
"Promise me it's not a dream that I'm going to wake up from tomorrow," Seriousness overcame Nikita. Maybe that shouldn't have been her reaction to her boyfriend's fast proposal. She should've been smart; she should've thought things through instead of reacting with just her heart. Thinking too much had only burned her before, though. She thrived on being impulsive. She simply hoped her impulsivity with Daniel would be worth it. At the end of the day, when Division became too much, she wanted to beg the universe that he'd still be by her side- that he wouldn't push her away or choose duty over her.
Instead of promising with words, Daniel kissed Nikita. He might not have been an action man, preferring to program software squarely behind a desk, but with her he could be brave enough to make that leap. Besides, the best way to know you weren't dreaming was to feel a strong sensation. And what was stronger than a kiss. The affection grew more passionate by the second. She rolled onto her back, pulling him after her. They were incredibly close as hands began to caress soft, warm skin. It certainly wasn't the first time that morning the couple had brought each other pleasure. Yet it was different that time. They were engaged.
In her mind, Nikita knew it was a terrible idea. She shouldn't have been with Daniel. She should've kept her distance, especially when Division found out she was seeing him. But she had it under control. The cover they had created for her wouldn't have been believable if she was a single woman living in a big city; she had to at least date somebody. That lie was thin, and she was terrified Amanda and Percy were going to see right through it. A part of her didn't care, however. She was happy, in love, and at peace. The hellhole could rot for all she cared. She had caught a glimpse of the world outside of it, and it was bliss.
It was also incredibly stupid for her to have brought Daniel into that whole shitshow. He deserved better than that life. But he loved Nikita. She shut out the part of her that screamed he only loved the watered down, deep cover version of herself. Why would he have proposed to her if he didn't feel so strongly for her. It didn't matter who she really was. For the first time in her life, she had somebody that wanted her. He wanted to be with her forever, build the loving family she never got to have. How could she push away that promise of a normal life. How could she back down from the promise of having actual safety and love.
The kisses her new fiancé laid to her collarbone snapped her out of her thoughts. Nikita was quickly absorbed in the wonderful present, slipping her fingers through Daniel's brown hair. His hands brushed up the hem of her camisole, fingertips skimming low on her abdomen. Her hips shifted underneath him, and her legs wrapped around his. She would prefer to not think for the moment, to not be weighed down by the anxiety that built within her. But they were safe at his apartment- his home. Division couldn't penetrate those walls. So, she shouldn't let it penetrate her bubble of happiness either. She was engaged; she should celebrate by letting her fiancé bring her to total bliss.
Of course, she wouldn't give up complete control. Nikita began to tug at his t-shirt and thrust her hips into his. That spurred Daniel on, changing his movements from tender to passionate. He kissed her once more, the affection strong and fierce. Underwear and tops were torn away with determination and expertise. Lips and hands roamed heated bodies that were becoming more and more alive by the second. The intense feelings in their hearts had to be expressed. Though, he had done so much with giving her a beautiful engagement ring. But she had to show him the same level of love. She had to let him know how much she wanted the love and peaceful life away from all that pain he could provide her.
Fiery, thorough kisses weren't enough for Nikita. She flipped Daniel onto his back with surprising strength (well, at least surprising to him). Her hips thrusted and ground down on his, wet heat sliding over hard length. After all morning together, their bodies had expected their intense kisses and touches to lead them there. Yet, breathy moans still escaped their heaving chests. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her down so his lips could latch to her breasts. He kissed and nipped, while she moaned and rolled her hips. His own hips couldn't handle much more of the temptation. They had to be joined together. Their lives were about to, so why shouldn't their bodies.
With amazing speed, she grabbed for a condom and tossed it to him. Nikita's strength and quickness always startled Daniel. He thought it was awe inspiring, yet he wondered just how much yoga she practiced to achieve that. The moment she slid down on top of him, however, the instant those questions cleared his mind. Hips snapped, thrusted, and rolled together. Moans filled the air, while hands clutched at bodies to keep them in place. He held her close to him, moving tantalizingly underneath her. Her hot breath burned against his neck while she moaned and kissed his jaw. He whispered encouraging and loving words in her ear, which only drove her higher and higher. No thoughts or words could tumble out of her, just pleasure.
Harsh, talented strokes catapulted her through the air. She soared to her peak, clutching to him as tightly as she could as her hips thrusted wildly. Daniel did his best to keep up with Nikita. He made certain she had reached oblivion before he chased after her. She remained untamed above him after a couple of last jolts of his hips, but not for long. Soon, she collapsed against the pillows next to him, smiling and laughing in contentment. He, on the other hand, had to catch his breath. The next time she did yoga, he had to join her. If not to match her speed and strength, then at least her stamina. Those thoughts were instantly shoved aside, however, as she suddenly turned to him and breathed, "We should run away."
"What?"
"We should… we should go somewhere far from here. Someplace no one would ever find us," Nikita clarified. It wasn't fair of her to ask that while they were both sated and at bliss from their passion filled high (and as he moved to toss the spent condom). Hell, it wasn't fair of her to ask that at all. But, God, she wanted Daniel. She wanted normalcy and love so badly, she'd risk everything for it. That was her chance to finally have the life she always dreamed of, and she wasn't going to let it go. She deserved to be happy after so much pain, "It could just be me and you against the world. Starting our lives over together."
"Nikita, where is this coming from?" Settling back on the bed, Daniel attempted to understand what his new fiancée was talking about. He wasn't denying the idea, however. He knew Nikita was intelligent; the scheme didn't come from nowhere. She was absolutely serious about starting their lives over somewhere else. Why it had to be against the world, though, he had no clue. Something else had to be going on with her. He had the suspicion for a while that she was hiding something from him. He simply chalked it up as the stress she received from work. But that was different. That put a dark cloud over her brilliant smiles.
"You should know, I don't work as an airline consultant. What I really do is… it's dangerous. And if our relationship is ever found out, we can be in serious trouble," What the hell was she doing. Running away was already a huge enough risk as it was. But mentioning Division was so much worse. Nikita wasn't just putting her own life in danger, but Daniel's as well. However, didn't the stories always say that love was worth the risk. Wasn't happily ever after only achieved through sacrifice. It was ridiculous to base her decisions on silly little stories. But it wasn't as though she had a real world example of love to cling to. That was all new to her. And true love couldn't have been completely made up. There had to be some hope in the world.
Daniel just stared at her. He shifted a bit to get a better look at her. Yet he seemed to be trying to process the information. Fear gripped Nikita. What if she had scared him off. What if he caught a glimpse of the inner- darker- part of her and he wanted to leave her like everybody else had. She had asked too much of him, revealed too much. He was going to abandon her, and Division was going to tighten their claw-like grip around her throat. That was it; everything was over. Michael had been right about not getting too close. Though, what did that damn man know about anything. He was too stubborn to feel. But Daniel- Daniel was so caring as he quietly wondered, "Okay, so what kind of trouble?"
"Daniel, the less you know the better," Brown eyes avoiding him, Nikita attempted to be as honest as possible. Division couldn't kill him if he didn't completely know everything, right. She could keep Daniel as safe as possible, even if they ran off into the unknown. That hellhole might've been powerful and well connected, but she knew their weaknesses. They didn't know about her saving Alexandra Udinov, and they didn't know the real reason why she didn't kill Ari Tasorov. Percy and Amanda were blind to so many things. She could escape with her fiancé, as long as she had everything under control.
"Okay. So let me get this straight. You expect me to quit my job, move- what- halfway around the world with you, start a family, never look back and never ask why?" He was simply asking for clarification. At least, that was what she hoped he was doing. Daniel wasn't the kind of guy to bolt when things were difficult. Nikita had seen him work through tough problems with his engineering, and watched him overcome complicated software issues. What she was throwing at him wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Or so he thought. His heart was with her one hundred percent. Nothing could change his mind.
"Yes."
"Sounds great. When do we start?" An answering smile instantly calmed her nerves. Nikita expelled her held breath, staring at her fiancé in disbelief. Not only did Daniel love her enough to propose, but he agreed to her rash plans. They were going to have a life together; it didn't matter what that looked like to him. The same emotion that swelled inside of her when she first saw the ring overwhelmed her once more. It was love mixed with hope and excitement. It was a sense of freedom she had never known. She wanted to say it was perfect. The whole moment from the engagement ring, to their love making, to him agreeing to run away with her had to have been heaven. She hadn't experienced anything like it before. She thought she was finally, truly happy.
A smile that could rival the sun bloomed across her lips. Nikita brought herself closer to Daniel, and caressed his cheek. She needed just a little more reassurance that it wasn't all a dream. She needed to know that she could touch him and laugh with him and be with him all she wanted. He shifted closer to her as well, continuing to flash her that goofy grin of his. Joy was bursting out of them at the seams. Although the future ahead was unclear, it was definitely warm and bright. How could it not be when there was a ring on her finger and someone by her side who was so willing to give her his heart and his life, "Just like that?"
"Just like that," Daniel brushed her dark hair out of her face, smiling at her adoringly. Nikita could only beam and kiss her fiancé powerfully. In a couple of hours she had to be at Division to brief and prep for the upcoming Barcelona op. But in that moment, she could be in bliss. The two could plan their escape to their happily ever after. They could meet at his parents' cabin by the lake, and take off from there to whatever paradise they wanted. It seemed so unreal and dreamy to her. She couldn't believe someone would ever be so willing to give up their life for her. However, since she had that kind of love in her life, she was bound and determined to never let it go.
