You all get to finally see who Savitar is. Last week, I left you all with the fact that Savitar is a Barry lookalike. Now it's time to see who was right. At the end of the chapter, I'll be sure to give a shout out to everyone who got it right. In the meantime my co-authors are Brightburn1985 and ThomasMarieAmell2.0.

Barry was left in shock as he was staring into his own face. It looked exactly the same as his own in every detail. Identical in every way.

"How is this possible?" Barry asked with his mouth agape.

"What do you think? Like looking into a mirror, isn't it?" Savitar smirked.

"You're a doppelgänger? You're me from the future? Who are you?!" Barry shouted.

"You really don't know? Interesting. I knew you suffered from severe trauma, but I never expected you to completely forget about me." Savitar chuckled. "Bartholomew Henry Allen, Malcolm Theodore Allen at your service. But for you brother, Mal. Our parents always did have a tendency for strange names. Take your time to process. You always were the slower one between the two of us."

"You're my brother? I have a brother?" Barry asked.

"Identical twin. Not so one-of-a-kind anymore, are you?"

"Where have you been all this time? Why do I not remember you?"

"Like all good stories, mine has a beginning, middle, and end. Let's start in the middle. The night of the particle accelerator explosion." Mal said, glaring at him. "When you were struck by lightning and sent into a coma, I was electrocuted as well, but I got sent into the Speed Force. A place where time doesn't exist.

"Do you realize that? I didn't need to eat, I didn't need to sleep. I simply existed. What has been 3 years for you, has been countless millennia for me. After a couple thousand years, I went mad. I slaughtered anything that got in my way. Lost speedsters would tell the tale of the crazed racer.

"After another few eons I went sane again, and I had learned of the fable the speedsters told of me. The oldest, most powerful speedster to ever exist. And every good story needs a name. The whispers of Savitar. I had become a god.

"But there was one thing missing. You."

"What did I do? I don't even remember you," Barry said.

"It was because of you, I got sent away. I was just a mistake. They couldn't let their perfect Barry Allen be dragged down by his brother. But you don't deserve their love. You never did! It's because of you, mom and dad are dead. But what's that matter? They'd die for you, but they sent me away."

"Wait, this is because of mom and dad? This isn't about the Speed Force? Why'd they send you away?"

Mal just scoffed. "Like you don't know? You should ask Joe. He's been keeping me company for all those years I spent in solitude."

"Joe knows?"

"He was my warden. He's the one that kept the two of us apart. All these years, and he never told you about me. What a trustworthy guy." Mal held that smirk.

"I thought I was going to be stuck in the Speed Force until the end of time. I wasn't given a task to complete, a hurdle to overcome. I was there because the Speed Force never meant for me to become a speedster, but then for just the smallest moment, there was a weak point. A speedster changing the timeline so massively, it cracked the bars that held me."

"Flashpoint." Barry mumbled.

"It's because of you that I'm free, brother. The space-time barrier was weakened because of your little stint, enough that I would be able to claw my way out eventually." Mal smirked. "This was all made possible because of you. So it's because of you I'm going to destroy everything you love. Later bro." Mal sped off into his suit and ran.

Barry stood still, digesting all of this. Some things now made sense, about the fact that they both were children of the same entity. That Barry knew who he was all his life. Savitar had been hinting they were brothers since he first met. Barry just never paid attention to that.

This wasn't what Barry was expecting, and part of him did wish he could put that cat back in its bag, but he needed more answers. And he knew who to ask for them.

Barry sped back into the Cortex where the team was waiting for him.

"Alright Barr, what did you call us for?" Joe asked.

"Malcolm." Barry glared at him and went into the hallway, heading to his office.

That one word sent Joe's emotions spiralling and he stumbled after Barry. How could he find out?

The rest of the team followed, curiosity getting the better of them.

Barry sat down at the front of his desk and levelled his glare.

"Barry, talk to me. You know about Malcolm?" Joe asked.

Barry remained silent, seemingly glaring at nothing.

"How about you sit down?" Caitlin suggested. "He might feel more comfortable with you sitting down."

Joe complied and sat down in a chair. Barry reacted immediately and turned to face him. "So there were two of me. Two of us. Malcolm and I."

"Would you mind leaving for a moment?" Joe asked the rest of the team. They were beginning to leave.

"No. They stay here," Barry demanded.

"This is between you and I. This is a family matter." Joe insisted.

"That's why they stay!" Barry shouted.

The other members had their lips slightly upturned unwittingly as they tried to find a place to get comfortable. It was a big room with several other chairs, so it wasn't hard to find a place to sit.

"So I'm a twin. Malcolm. Mal. What happened to him?" Barry asked.

"When your parents found out your mother was pregnant, it was a surprise. You were a happy accident. And then they found out they were expecting twins." Joe began explaining. "Your parents were young. They weren't ready for the burdens that two children came with. Still, they loved the both of you with all their hearts."

"Who's older?" Caitlin couldn't help but ask.

"Malcolm was the firstborn by 6 minutes." Joe revealed.

"Youngest child. Explains a lot," Caitlin teased him.

"Shut up," Barry replied. There was no emotion behind the words, but his eyes were filled with subtle amusement.

"The two of you grew up together, but everyone in the neighbourhood knew there was something different about Malcolm."

"Examples?" Barry asked.

"You have no idea how clever you were as a child. Praised by all your teachers. Understanding things that went over my head. But Malcolm, he was defined as this century's Isaac Newton. Brilliant, but diabolical all at once." Joe mentioned. "There were times when Malcolm tried to experiment on himself. One time when the two of you were at the park, Malcolm unexpectedly walked into the street with a car heading towards him. They thought suicide, but after he talked to you in the hospital, you explained that he was 'determining the reaction time of a normal person'."

"Bloody hell," Julian muttered.

"And then when I asked if he felt scared, he said 'What's there to feel?'"

"What happened to him?" Barry asked.

"Your parents got him a psych evaluation. Usually, you're not supposed to do so with someone so young, but they were worried and for good reason. It confirmed our suspicions. Malcolm was a sociopath. He was put in a program."

"But how could I forget him? He's my brother. We lived under the same roof our whole lives." Barry said.

"Your brother never got out of the program. You lived with your parents on your own. You became friends with Iris. And then that night happened. Your mother killed, father arrested for her murder. You suffered from severe trauma, but none of us realized the full extent until after. After that night, it was like Malcolm never existed to you."

"And once you realized that, you decided not to tell me I had a brother? I thought I was alone, that the only family I had was my father who was serving a sentence."

"I thought it would be best. I told Henry what happened and he and I decided it was best to not mention Malcolm to you after what happened to him."

"What happened?" Cisco asked.

"Malcolm somehow managed to convince one of the other patients in the program to kill themselves. At the ripe old age of 11, Malcolm had become a murderer." Joe said. "We couldn't confirm anything though and were scared of what he was capable of. We figured ignorance was bliss. And when I took you in, I took on the responsibility of Malcolm as well. He would remain a permanent resident, and you would never have to know about him."

"Well I know now. Any reason you haven't told me before now?" Barry questioned.

"Malcolm went missing. The night of the particle accelerator explosion, Malcolm managed to escape when the power was out. Staff tried to stop him, but he evaded them easily like he'd been planning it. Once outside, he was gone in a flash of lightning. Nobody's seen him since."

"Of course not. He was sent to the Speed Force. That's where he's been for the past 3 years. Because he is Savitar." Barry declared.

"What? No, no," Joe denied.

"I saw him. I talked to him. He is my brother, my twin, and you hid him from me!"

"I thought it best not to tell you. You didn't remember him at all. And when I was told he was in the wind, I thought you'd never have to burden yourself with that. Look it's my fault you weren't told this before. It was my decision to keep this information from you, and I'm sorry."

"You lied to me my whole life. You didn't even give me the chance to see him. And what about when he went missing? That wasn't a good time to tell me?"

"You were waking up from a nine month coma. We weren't sure you were going to make it. And when you woke up, I thought about telling you, but there was so much you had to catch up on, there never seemed to be a good time. And then more time passed it just seemed wrong to tell you now. It was wrong to keep it from you in the first place."

Barry sighed and placed his head in his hands. "He really is all my fault. If it weren't for me, mom and dad wouldn't have been split between the two of us, and I know I didn't make it easy. I was so needy as a child, always getting in accidents needing their attention that Mal was put to the wayside. And then our parents died because of me, and he's right to blame it on me. It's my fault he turned out this way."

"Hey, no Barry. Don't think like that. Malcolm was like this since he was a child. There was no helping how he would turn out. That's not anyone's fault but his own. And I'm sorry, but I was just trying to protect you."

"Get out. I need to think." Barry wiped a few stray tears away.

"Barry-" Joe tried to say.

"Get out! All of you!" Barry shouted.

The team hesitantly retreated out the door leaving Barry to sit and ponder how his life got so complicated, that his own twin despised him and wanted to kill him.

"So what are you going to do?" Caitlin asked when they arrived back in their house.

It still warmed Caitlin's heart to think of this place as their house, even though she'd already practically moved all her things here and the two were engaged.

"I'm going to try to talk to him." Barry said.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"No, but he's my brother. He's doing all this because of me. Because of me, our parents are gone, and the last thing he's going to remember of them is that they left him in some mental facility and kept me. And it doesn't help that I didn't even remember him."

"That wasn't your fault. Your parents' decisions shouldn't be blamed on you. You were a child. You had no control over what happened with your brother."

"But I'm an adult now. And with our parents gone, Savitar… Mal, he's my responsibility. And I need to help him."

"How can you even be sure he can be helped?"

"I'm not, but that's not my decision to make. I'm going to offer it to him and we'll see how it goes from there. If nothing else, I have to try."

Caitlin stared at him for a second and said, "Let's talk about you for a moment. How are you feeling?"

Barry sighed and sat down on the couch. "Honestly? I'm in shock. All these years, I thought I was alone, but it turns out I'm not. There's someone exactly like me out there that I had no idea about, and I'm not talking about doppelgängers."

"Malcolm isn't like you. You may be twins, you may look exactly alike, but he is not you." Caitlin shook her head, "You heard Joe, everyone knew Malcolm was different. I'm worried you're expecting someone you can relate with, share experiences, but he's a stranger to you. You didn't know he existed until tonight. You may share blood, but he is not your family,"

"I may not know everything about him, but that doesn't make him not my family! You don't know what it's like. To have lost everything, on multiple occasions, but now I actually have something else from my parents. A brother that I shared a womb with. I don't have to be alone anymore."

"Believe me Barry, there is no one who would be happier than I would if it turned out Malcolm loves you. He's your family, and that makes him my family too. But he's not. He's here to kill you. To kill all of us. He's not on the side of the angels like you."

"I'm not giving up on him. I can save him. I can talk to him. Please let me have that chance with him."

Caitlin shrugged helplessly. "How are you even going to get in contact with him?"

"I know a way to get his attention." Barry said vaguely.

"So let me get this straight. You want to talk to the man who is trying to kill you, and everyone you love. This man is also your brother who you didn't know existed until a day ago, and the reason he is trying to kill you is because he believes you are the reason he'd been abandoned by everyone who supposedly cared for him. Did I get that right?" Cisco asked.

"That sums it up pretty nicely." Barry nodded his head.

"Our life is a soap opera. That's the only explanation,"

"This isn't some soap opera Cisco. This is serious." Barry said. "So many people have already considered Mal a lost cause. But I can't give up on him. I owe it to him to try to offer some help."

"Alright," Cisco relented, "but please, try not to let your views on family cloud your judgement."

"What are you talking about?"

"You've always had a soft spot for family, and nobody's blaming you for that. You've lost so much, more than most people can understand, so it's natural for you to try to hold on to whatever you can. But the fact is, Malcolm might not be worth holding onto. And you're going to have to let him go."

"I'm asking you to send a message to him, not give me advice on how to handle my family."

"Funny, because last I checked, I thought we were your family. Team Flash? After all we've been through?"

"You are my family Cisco. You've stood by me through everything since I've woken from my coma. But this is different. This isn't about us. This is about me."

Cisco paused for a moment. "Everything is about you isn't it?"

"Cisco…" Barry sighed.

"No, no. I understand. The Speed Force chose you. The Chosen One. The One who's going to save us all according to the Dominators, but let me tell you something. You could have just as easily been in the same situation as your brother. You're not as special as you may think."

"Come on Cisco, you know what I mean. This is personal. Now are you going to help me or not?"

Cisco sighed. "I might be able to get a message to him. What do you want me to say?"

"I want to meet where everything began."

Barry was waiting outside his childhood home for his brother to return. A flash of white lightning signalled his arrival.

"Nice touch, this is. Coming back to where we started. Raised here. Mom died here. Dad died here. Almost makes me think I should kill you right here as well." Mal said, getting out of his suit.

"I wanted to talk to you," Barry said.

"Well that was obvious. The question is what our conversation should be about. I already know what you want to talk about," Mal said.

"You do?"

"It's written all over your face. You want me to defect to the good side. To the light because you want to feel good about yourself, saving your otherwise irredeemable brother. Plain as day."

"Well? What do you think?"

"I think you're wasting your time, but then again that's nothing new. You always were wasting away, even when we were kids. This illusion you have, good and bad, they don't exist. They're fairy tales. I thought you were smart enough to see that."

"I want to believe there is good in you. I want to believe we can be a family. What do you want?" Barry asked.

"What do I want? Well that's something very simple. What I want is satisfaction. That's all people really want. Satisfaction."

"And how are you going to get that? Is killing me really going to make you happy?"

"I didn't say it was going to make me happy, I said I wanted to be satisfied. I don't care what happens to me. I've been trapped in hell. There's nothing you can do that could ever affect me, and dying would be a relief." Mal said.

"So that's it? Killing me is all that's driving you? What happens after?"

"You don't get it. It's not about killing you. That's just the end result. It's about making you suffer. Watching everything you've ever cared about leaving you behind. Like they left me."

"They didn't leave you, they tried to help you get better. You were sick, but you don't have to be. I can help you." Barry offered.

"You? Help me? We haven't even gotten to the root of your problems. Think about it, if you didn't even know I existed, what else have you forgotten? Were mom and dad really the people you remember? Are you even? You've been lied to your whole life. Who's to say you're not lying to yourself as well?"

"Shut up." Barry shook his head. "You're trying to get in my head, but I won't let you. I'm trying to help you. Everyone else thinks I'm crazy to even be talking to you, but I'm trying to give you a chance to better yourself."

"Fine. I'll bite. What did you have in mind?"

"What are we doing here?" Mal asked when Barry led the two to STAR Labs.

"We're going to figure something out. So we're going to talk to the rest of the team." Barry answered.

Mal just scoffed when the rest of the team came into view.

"What are you looking at?" Cisco said as he glared at Mal.

"You're all so useless. I have no idea why my brother keeps you around."

"I will let you know we are plenty useful." Cisco retorted.

"Oh? Do tell, because it seems to me that you are wasting your powers acting as backup and just telling my brother where to go to the crime scene. You don't want to go in the field, anyone can relay what you see on a computer screen so what exactly is the point of you?"

"They're my friends. Don't insult them," Barry pleaded.

"Friends? You have friends now? Please, they're just a speck of ordinary that you can find on the street. And Cisco still hates you for killing his brother. You know that right? Why do you keep him around?"

"I don't hate him." Cisco denied.

"Yes you do. But I can see you actually believe what you're saying, so good for you." Mal said condescendingly.

"Your brother's a jerk," Cisco declared.

"I'm getting that impression." Barry agreed.

"And here I thought we were family. But seriously, show me what you got, because otherwise, this is just a huge waste of time." Mal deadpanned sitting at a desk and clicking randomly at the keyboard to keep himself occupied.

"We could put you back in a program. Try to help you." Barry suggested.

"I've spent lifetimes trapped in a prison of my mind. No way I'm ever going back. Is that all you got?"

"Look, I can't let you kill anybody else again. Do what you want with me. Torture me for the rest of our lives, but leave everyone else out of it." Barry said. "If you do, we can get you set up with something. I've got lots of money, it'd be easy to give you a life. Something away from all of this."

"Hmmm, not interested." Mal said. "Well this has been very educational. I've logged into your computer mainframe and have set the accelerator to blow."

"What? How'd you do that? It's password protected." Barry said.

"Took me twenty second to guess yours. 'Nora Allen', too obvious really. You always were the sentimental of the two of us. This was too easy." Mal scoffed.

"You mean you meant for this to happen?" Barry asked.

"Of course. I told you that I wanted to destroy everything you love. That doesn't just include the boring people in your life. I've had this planned for months. STAR Labs is the centre of the Flash. I was going to just destroy it myself, but it was so much easier to do so once inside. And once the accelerator goes off, you'll be blamed for another hole in the city. So good job on that. Thank you for inviting me here."

"How'd you know I would even let you in here?"

"Really? Once my identity had been exposed, I simply calculated the reactions of a person I happen to know very well. Can't everybody do that?" Mal said and ran off in a flash of lightning.

Alright here's everybody who got it right:

CallMeMiles

Phantom Super Sonic

Congratulations. Both of you made the guess that Savitar was Barry's secret twin brother. I'm not sure if others thought about it but just didn't voice it, but you two were the ones to make your guesses.

To be honest, I had no idea Barry was a twin the comics, and as soon as I learned that, I had to change the name I originally gave him into Malcolm Theodore Allen. Malcolm Thawne is his actual name so I kept Malcolm and the first two letters of his last name as his middle name. I went through so many possibilities with who Savitar was before finally deciding on the secret twin.

Because I have no creativity, I wanted to keep Savitar as close as possible, meaning he had to be a Barry alternate. Time remnant was immediately out, I wasn't making the same mistake as the show. I entertained the possibility of a doppelgänger, but I couldn't think of a good enough reason for him to come. The best I could think of was world domination, but why go to an Earth that resists so much? Surely there are alternate Earths that would be easier to take over. I needed a personal reason. At that point, I thought about using an alternate Caitlin. One where she was the Flash. Where she went mad after her Zoom killed her Barry and now she's on a quest to find her love again. But then that wouldn't have been a fight between speedsters, that would have been more of a fight between the two Caitlin's over Barry. And if I had an alternate Barry lose his Caitlin, that wouldn't have worked since Barry still wasn't in a relationship with Caitlin at the beginning of the season

I had to keep it to this Earth, but the question was how. Eventually I decided upon the secret twin. And you all saw the explanation of how I made it possible. I'll be honest, most of these ideas came from another TV show I love.

As for Cisco, he's a little resentful of Barry right now in case you didn't notice. Mostly it's because he's jealous of Barry. Cisco had just lost his brother, and now Barry is gaining a twin brother out of nowhere. Sure he's a mass murderer, but it's something Barry has been wanting all his life. Family.

Whether Malcolm was a product of Flashpoint or not is up to you. It doesn't really matter and I don't particularly care which it is. I hope everybody enjoyed that.

Next week will be the season finale. The showdown that was always meant to be. See you next week.
