A/N: New day, new update :D
I personally really like this chapter, i think it has several cute moments and some important discussions about the future. So I hope you enjoy!
49. Our Time
You wouldn't think it being outside of a city would have that much of an effect on a couple but it did for Elliot and Olivia. They took the relationship to a range of new heights and both were loving it. Neither could tell whether it was the fact that this weekend was the most time they'd had alone together in their whole relationship so far, or if it was the fact they were away from the children for more than a night, that couldn't be interrupted. But these two lovebirds were simply inseparable and insatiable. Olivia had been trying to unpack their things from the bags, the first time Elliot took her to bed and it was several hours after that, before either of them had surfaced. They simply couldn't get enough of each other and neither would have it any other way.
It was really only when Elliot's stomach had started to growl like there was a monster living inside of him, that Olivia knew she had to feed him. But since they were alone, there didn't have to be a desperate need for her to get completely re-dressed again and since Elliot had interrupted her unpacking, his old business shirt from the night before would have to do for her robe so she could go to the kitchen.
"Do you have any idea how hot you look in that right now?" Elliot remarked as he followed Olivia downstairs from the bedroom to the kitchen, only dressed in his shorts.
"Well somebody distracted me from unpacking earlier, so I couldn't find my robe" Olivia remarked.
"You weren't complaining at the time" Elliot teased and Olivia could never complain about what they had been doing but it did mean she hadn't been able to find what she needed.
"Definitely not, but that did mean that I had to find an alternative. As much as I know you'd love it if I strolled around this cabin completely naked, I don't like cooking naked and I also wanted to have some kind of decency" Olivia replied as she looked in the fridge, trying to work out what she was going to make for a late lunch or afternoon snack.
"You know, I'm not really that hungry" Elliot replied as he walked up behind her and found her sensitive spot on her neck that was especially for him.
"I think that monster that has taken up residence in your stomach would say otherwise, besides I can't have you wasting away on me this weekend and I want to use this nice kitchen" Olivia pushed him off, stopping the attempts she knew he was making to get her back upstairs.
"Honey, with your cooking I don't think I'm going to waste away any time soon"
"Good, so then you'll let me make us a late lunch?"
"Alright chef" Elliot remarked as he moved away from Olivia who was clearly denying his advances and taking a seat on the breakfast bar, watching her prepare food. He would learn from her now, help her make whatever she decided for dinner and then he already had plans for what they could do for dessert.
Once lunch was over and had been all cleaned up, Olivia was determined they were not just going to end up back in the bedroom. The scenery around the cabin was so beautiful and there was snow around so she wanted to go for a stroll. Elliot couldn't hide the fact he thought she was crazy for wanting to go out in the cold but he would do it, for her. Olivia had used the excuse of it being perfect to get fresh air and exercise to work up their appetite for later, which Elliot wouldn't turn down. Besides, a walk with her was still a great afternoon.
Whilst they strolled along one of the walking paths in the forest that was not too far from the cabin, they held a light conversation about various different things. One topic they avoided talking about was a rather important one, what they would do for the holidays which were only a couple of weeks away. Elliot had already made plans to have Christmas at his place, instead of going out to his family Christmas at the beach house. But he wanted to discuss this with Olivia first to see what her intentions were for the holidays. He figured this would likely be a topic for discussion when they were back at the cabin and could properly discuss it in detail. He honestly didn't care what happened at Christmas or New Years for that matter, as long as he had her and she was the one he could kiss at midnight on New Years Eve.
By the time the pair made it back to the cabin it was already starting to get dark. Elliot would get a start on the fire and make a hot drink for the both of them whilst Olivia made a call to her father to check in with him and Chloe. Even though she subconsciously knew that they would be just fine, this really was the longest time she'd spent away from Chloe since the little girl was born. So, she wanted to check in with them. Elliot understood this and was already planning on calling the twins to do the same.
Olivia found Elliot sitting on the couch in front of the fire, with 2 mugs of hot chocolate ready and waiting, as she walked down the stairs from speaking with her father. Elliot was reading something from his tablet and didn't see her enter the room again as his back had been to the stairs. She walked over to him and draped her arms around his shoulder, placing a kiss on his cheek as a greeting.
"I thought we agreed this was a no work weekend?" Olivia teased as she took in what he was looking at on his iPad whilst resting her chin on his shoulder, the same way he did with her.
"We did, but…well you were talking with your dad and these plans have to be approved by next week in order to meet different approvals before we can start building. But, I'll put it away now I promise" Elliot replied as he closed the cover of his iPad once more.
"It's fine, I'm only messing with you. I've got a book to read" Olivia remarked as she went to move away from her behind him.
"You knew you'd get bored of me and brought a book with you this weekend?" Elliot questioned.
"Bored with you? Never, but I just figured that…it wouldn't hurt" Olivia remarked as she her arms away from Elliot and went to move to grab her book from upstairs.
"Ok ok, I'm putting it all away now" Elliot replied, taking hold of Olivia's hand before she could completely pull out of his reach and guiding her around to a spot on the couch, next to him.
"Dad says to say hello and hopes we're having a good weekend. He said that he's going to pick up the kids from school on Monday and take them back to your place so we don't have to rush back" Olivia explained, Elliot appreciated the offer and was glad they didn't have to make sure to be back by pick up time.
"How's Chloe?" Elliot asked as Olivia had handed him a hot chocolate from the coffee table and picked up one for herself. Elliot knew that the real reason Olivia called her father was to check in with her daughter.
"She's good, apparently they had been out shopping today which means that my father is spoiling her with even more toys. But I'm not surprised with that at all" Olivia remarked as she took a sip of the hot chocolate Elliot made. It definitely sounded like Chloe was very lucky to have a grandfather like Don.
The couple sat in silence for a couple of minutes, enjoying the fire, each other and the hot chocolate. But Elliot knew this was the perfect time to raise the topic that they'd avoided so far.
"So, there was actually something I wanted to discuss with you" Elliot started.
"I'm listening" Olivia replied as she looked at him over her hot chocolate.
"You know Christmas is next week and we haven't actually made plans about what we're going to do yet" Elliot remarked, wanting to know how they were really going to go forward with this from here.
"Yeah, I suppose we've never really got around to talking about it" Olivia agreed.
"Here's what I was thinking and you can feel free to say no if you want. But I'm not going to go to the family Christmas out at my mother's beach house" Elliot explained as he placed the hot chocolate mug back on the coffee table. Olivia was taken back by this confession as she'd been under the assumption he'd go there, and they'd see each other afterwards.
"El-"
"No, I've made my decision and I've made it clear to both Edward and my mother. I don't want to spend Christmas away from you and Chloe and since I know my mother has made you feel like you're not welcome to family events, I'm not going to go. I won't stop my kids from going if they want to but I was thinking we could all have Christmas at my place. You, Chloe, your dad, Alex, Micah and me, well and the twins if they decide they want to stay"
"That sounds lovely"
"Edward asked me last night if he, Maria and Arthur could come too and I told him they were more than welcome if they wanted to miss the beach house but I wanted to check with you?" Elliot asked as he took Olivia's hand in his and started to rub over her fingers with his thumb.
"They're your family, of course I'd love for them to come. But will you have enough room?" Olivia asked, concerned whether there would even be enough space for everyone. Even though Elliot's place was fairly large, this would be a lot of people in one space.
"Maybe not at the dinner table but we'll make it work. I just, I don't want to be apart again for these holidays, not after everything we've been through this year" Elliot confessed.
"Well I think that sounds like a great plan but if you think I'm staying over the night beforehand you can think again" Olivia remarked and Elliot looked hurt by that remark.
"But…I want to wake up with you in my arms on Christmas morning, just like we do now" Elliot tried to argue, waking up with Olivia in his arms was a great feeling and he wanted to have that on Christmas too.
"Not with my father around…I highly doubt he'd approve of that when we're not married" Olivia refused, she knew her father was someone who was very much a traditionalist and wouldn't really approve of Elliot and Olivia in the same bed until they were married.
"That can be arranged…No, but what about you stay in the hotel at least? So you don't have to travel across town with everything in the morning?" Elliot tried to compromise.
"I'll think about it"
"The kids can open their presents all together then – Chloe knows about Santa right?"
"Well, kind of. I mean last Christmas I tried to introduce the idea of Santa but she wasn't even 1 yet so she didn't really understanding Christmas. This year I think she has more of an idea but I don't really know, this age is kind of hard to tell. But I do know Santa has already started getting presents for her"
"Ok, so think of it this way. You stay at mine on Christmas Eve and Santa can have a special helper to wrap all of the presents or at the very least if you wont stay with me, stay in the hotel?" Elliot tried to convince Olivia to say yes.
"I said I'd think about it and I will but you're making a very convincing argument" Olivia remarked as Elliot just smiled. All he wanted was to have everyone he loved together for the holidays and ideally wake up with the woman he loved in his arms that morning. That would be before they watch their children open the gifts from a funny man in a red suit, as well as other family members. Elliot had already bought Chloe a gift and was picking up Olivia's Christmas present when they were back in town next week. He'd seen the idea a while ago and had to custom order the gift, so he was lucky it would be ready before Christmas.
Later that evening, the couple were snuggled up in front of the blazing fire once more, just enjoying each other's company like they regularly do. Together, they'd made a stir fry for dinner and Elliot had completed all the washing up like a proper gentleman. Dessert had actually been completely forgotten about, with both too full from the delicious meal to want anything else. So now they were simply relaxing into the night with a glass of wine on the couch in front of the fire. They didn't have to talk to enjoy the company and neither really had anything desperate they wanted to say, they were just glad to be together. A simple act of holding hands or a touch here spoke a million words for both of them and showed their affection.
"So, how long have you had this cabin?" Olivia asked, interested to learn more about the history of this beautiful place.
"Um, I think I bought the land a little while after my hotel chain really started to take off, as a kind of present for myself. Then I had the cabin built like a place where I could escape from the city when I the space or time away. It's also where I had plans to bring Dickie when he got a little earlier, for like fishing trips or boys weekends as there is a good fishing river not too far from here" Elliot explained.
"You fish?" Olivia asked, she never thought Elliot would ever be in to that kind of thing but it is sounding more and more like he planned to after having Dickie.
"I used to, when I was younger...my dad taught me and I've always said that when I have a son, I want to teach him just like my dad taught me"
"So, you really built this cabin as a man cave thing? I guess I should be flattered that I'm only of the only women you've brought up here to your man cave"
"Only women? Baby you're the only woman I've ever brought up here and the only one I ever intend to bring here" Elliot replied, he wanted Olivia to know that he never brought Kathy or any other woman out here, she was the only one and the only one he ever wanted to.
"You never brought the twins mother out here? For like a romantic weekend away?" Olivia continued to question.
"Nope, she wasn't really someone who did the whole wilderness thing, and she never would have wanted to go for a walk out in the forest like we did today, especially when it was so cold. If Kathy escaped the city, it was usually only to my mother's beach house or to visit family, that was it" Elliot explained, the more Olivia heard about Elliot's ex, the more she started to question how suited they really were.
"Well, I'm glad you brought me here, it's so incredibly beautiful, peaceful and I just love it" Olivia gushed, she really did love this cabin and thought she was incredibly lucky that Elliot brought her out here.
"The perfect spot for the perfect lady and I will gladly come here with you whenever you want. You can even come here without me if you want but I hope you don't" Elliot remarked and Olivia just leant in to kiss him softly whilst placing a hand on his chest. They were in the perfect little love cocoon out here by themselves and if Olivia was completely honest, she never wanted to leave. She wanted to go back to Chloe and everyone but she didn't want the weekend to end.
"You have really changed my life Elliot Stabler" Olivia remarked as they pulled apart again.
"The feeling is mutual Olivia Benson. You have completely changed my life for the better and I will spend the rest of my life, if you'll let me, trying to thank you for that. I love you" Elliot uttered
"I love you too" Olivia replied before Elliot kissed her again. The pair continued to kiss and the passion between them was evident. They got so caught up in each other that the couch suddenly became somewhere they didn't want to be. Olivia had a hand on the of Elliot's head as he pressed kisses down her neck from behind her ear to her collarbone, causing her to release several moans of pleasure.
"Take me to bed Elliot, make love to me" Olivia moaned. Elliot didn't need to be asked twice, he knew the permission that sentence have him and he had her up in his arms in one quick swoop. He continued to carry her upstairs and place her down on the bed. The rest of their night was spent all caught up in passionate love making session, growing even closer than they'd been before.
Sunday was spent largely in the cabin and largely in the bedroom. The weather outside was simply miserable so it gave the perfect excuse to never leave the bedroom. Olivia lay against Elliot's chest whilst he sat up in bed, leaning against the headboard and just running his hands up and down Olivia's arms. Olivia lay, admiring the falling snow outside of the window and the trees.
"If we were to ever get married, I'd want to come here for the honeymoon" Olivia remarked completely out of the blue. It made Eliot wonder where this thought had come from.
"You'd want to come here? Not go to some tropical island with endless sun and that crystal blue water? Also, it's not a case of if, it's a case of when" Elliot remarked, mentally storing this conversation in the back of his memory for the day that he would need it.
"Maybe both? But then I guess it would depend on the time of year" Olivia decided.
"Baby, we can come here any time you want to do so and whenever we get married, if you still want to come here for the honeymoon then we'll do just that. But like I said, it's a when we get married as there is nothing more I want to do then spend the rest of my life with you and I'd like it even better with you as my wife" Elliot replied as he pressed a kiss on the top of her head. Olivia felt her heart flutter with his admission just now. Elliot had confessed that he wanted to marry her, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
"What about kids?" Olivia asked sitting up and looking at Elliot.
"What about kids?" Elliot questioned.
"Would you want to have more? I know you already have 2-"
"We have 3 and if we were to have more in the future then I would love them just the same...You're not-" Elliot asked letting the rest of the sentence slip away and looking Olivia directly in the eye. He knew they had been extremely passionate with their love and there had been times where they hadn't used protection but they'd never discussed children before this and it made him wonder. Then again, they also hadn't discussed a honeymoon before today either.
"No, but I do want more in the future" Olivia confessed. She wasn't asking Elliot all these questions because she was expecting but she did hope that in their future, she'd give Elliot another baby.
"Then we'll have them! When the time is right, you know I'd love to make a baby with you and until then, we can just...practice" Elliot hinted as he winked at her.
"Oh, I'd say we're pretty much experts now at the whole practice thing" Olivia teased as Elliot turned his attention to her neck, peppering it with kisses some more. They were really having quite the serious discussion right now but Olivia felt excited by the prospect that Elliot wanted to marry her one day and have more kids with her. This weekend had definitely opened up doors to the future for them and they had made some big plans. It was a very special weekend and would no doubt be one of many more to come. For now, though, they were just focused on taking things one day at a time and enjoying every last moment of the weekend before they had to go back to reality.
TBC
A/N: So not only was this weekend rather romantic but it had some serious discussions with plans for christmas, marriage and kids? These two are really planning for the long haul huh? I also wanted to let you all know, there is about 3 chapters left of this story and they are honestly, really sweet chapters with lots of cute moments. Now don't worry, when this story wraps up there will be a sequel (as i'm not done telling the stories of these two) but there will be a break between the stories. 'Teaching Love' has been a writing focus of mine fo rthe last almost 2 years of my life and i am going to take a break when it's done. Not to mention there are some things coming up in my personal life that mean i won't be able to write as much. But, I have already started to write the sequel, with the intial planning almost done. But it doesn't have a title yet or an release date. But there will be a sequel filled with new adventures and troubles coming later this year. (hopefully).
Anyway, i hope you enjoyed this chapter, leave me a review with your thoughts or anything else you want to say. I love to read them and they definitely help with motivation to write/edit.
Until Next Time ;D
