Conversations before Battle

"Without suffering, there'd be no compassion," Bane said seriously as he stared Harry straight in the eyes. "The truth is there's no way for everyone to be...happy but I am not sorry that I am in love with you and we are mates."

"Bane, we are about to go into battle, can you not hear the drum of war calling us? As much as we wish I could smuggle myself out of the country it is time for me to step up and be the hero that everyone wants me to be," Harry replied with a heavy sigh as he placed his head on Bane's shoulder. "I got your message, loud and clear. When all of this is over with we will look to the future...we have to see if I am alive still after crushing skulls together like they are a marshmallow."

"You are ignoring my message of love and a future together. Did you not hear what I just said or are you acting like charging rhinos going into battle?" Bane asked with an outrageous cry as he blocked Harry's path. "You cannot make everyone happy but the one person you can make happy is yourself! Us! Our future family!"

"As much as I want this Bane, as much as I want a future with you and our future foals we have to get through the final battle, this battle!" Harry cried out stamping a hoof angrily against the floor of the entrance hall. "What use would it be to us to plan for a future together that will never happen? What if I die fighting Voldemort or you get mortally wounded protecting your heard?"

"Our heard," Bane replied quickly as he grabbed both of Harry's hands in a flash and held them up to his lips. "Just...if there is only one promise you can make to me today before we go out onto the battle field promise me one thing."

"Bane...love..." Harry said with a sigh as he loses some of his temper. "You know that I-"

"Return to me alive, return to me alive so we can then start planning our future together," Bane stated simply and purely as he place a delicate yet loving kiss on each one of Harry's hands. "Come back to me alive so we may finally begin to plan our future as mates together...no matter what the outcome of this battle may be."
