Malefor had his arms crossed as the other dragons had their weapons ready to use at any wrong move, he might try. The dark purple dragon gazed at the child and the dragonfly, before gazing at the humans.
"Hey!" Greta yelled loudly as she rushed towards them quickly. She stopped before panting quietly a little when she was by their side.
"You're here Greta!" Agent Zero grabbed her and lifted her for a few seconds.
"Sis. You're okay!" Handel said with a small smile.
The man put the girl on the ground. He smiled, "Thank you for saving her Malefor," he turned towards the darkness dragon.
"I just did it because I found her. She was a human and when I heard Spyro, I didn't hesitate," Malefor replied.
Spyro gazed at the group and wondered what was going on, "What do you mean?"
"Humans and dragons don't have the best relationship in history," Astor replied.
Nestor grabbed the child and hugged him, "Do NOT get away from us on your own again!" he gave his order and hugged the purple dragon a little tighter than the child wished for.
The youngling whined quietly, "O-okay! Okay! That hurt."
"You will remember it right?" the green dragon asked.
Flame wondered if Delbin would hug him that hardly. He kinda hoped that the answer would be yes. It was an obvious hug filled with love.
The Peace Keepers kept their weapons and battle stance at the other dragon. They waited for him to do anything to make him regret to act.
"I am not going to attack you. I'm not your enemy," Malefor raised his arms.
Astor finally gave attention to the dark purple dragon. He approached him, "It's been a while since last time."
"Father… Yeah. A long time," his gaze went on the side, "How's it going?"
"We are saving the eggs," Titan grumbled at him as he put his axe on the ground. He raised his chest and gazed at him, "And you?"
"I am here to stop The Sorceress once and for all. You didn't see me because I wanted to stop the problem at the source. The one who stole everything form our kind," he closed his hands into a fist.
Chapter 48: A Long Discussion
The dragons observed him. They weren't sure if he was telling the true or not.
Zantor adjusted his hat and was the first one who began questioning the dark purple dragon, "What did you do in there? You just appeared out of nowhere like that. This isn't a natural thing or normal magic. You also don't have that much magic to pull something like that on your own."
Spyro turned towards Malefor and his dragonfly. He didn't know what to say or do. He didn't want to put his dad into trouble.
"What is that?" Astor pointed at the bracelet on the wrist of his son. He didn't know what it was, but the item looked unique and strange.
The dark purple dragon couldn't hide the true or lie about it. It was obvious that he had something they never saw before and used unique magic. That was fine. He planned to tell them anyway, "This is one of the Forbidden Artifacts. The one I found the location because I was imprisoned by the Guardian Dragons," he pointed at it, "I used its power to save and protect Spyro."
Bruno was the first one who recovered from what the dragon explained to them, "You got one of the Forbidden Artifacts!" he pointed his weapon at him, "You know how dangerous those are!"
"It is?" Greta asked. She didn't know what it was and why it was dangerous.
Spyro twitched his head with his brother. They were confused about what that was. Handel was already completely lost about it with Agent Zero uncertain about it.
Flame asked, "What is a Forbidden Artifact?"
"It's an Artifact of unknown origin that contains a lot of power. Like how quickly Malefor could move around as if he teleported… Did you teleport?" Zantor asked.
"No," he replied, not explaining that he stopped time.
The Magic Crafter went on his explanation, "Those Artifacts are extremely dangerous because no one knows who made them. The power is extremely great and asked a lot of magic from its users."
"Right. Dad said that it was draining him up," Spyro commented.
"I have a lot of magic," the dark purple dragon explained, "I used its forbidden power to save Spyro."
"And no dragons are bad," the young purple dragon proudly raised his chest after declaring that. He smiled at his dragonfly and the small red dragon who was bigger than him. Only his brother smiled back.
Titan growled, "You will take that artifact away right now! You know that wearing it is against the rule. That's why the Guardian Dragons imprisoned you. You are putting Dragon Realm at risk for possessing this artifact. The humans will come after us. The other realms will be after us!"
"Why?" Agent Zero asked.
The three humans were confused.
The leader of the Peace Keepers calmed down, "Something this powerful will make us a target of the other realms. They will fear the power that might destroy their realm."
Astor grabbed his son by his brown cape, "Why did you put your life on the line like that? This artifact is too dangerous for you!"
"Why? Because the Guardian Dragons said it was too dangerous? I am born with much more magic than normal. It is my destiny to collect them all," Malefor replied. He put his hand on the shoulder of his father, "Not to hurt my kind. But to protect them and get back what the Sorceress stole from us."
"This is still foolish," Bubba grumbled as he approached the dragon, "This kind of power would only cost you in the end. You heard the tales and legends. Those who used it died in horrible pain," he poked his claw on the large chest of the Peace Keeper.
"But I am a dragon with much more magic within me than Magic Crafters or Dream Weavers. I refuse to let Spyro be the one," he replied. He gazed at the others, "You do not know what is truly going on? Do you think the Guardian Dragons tell the true and only the true? Do they know a few things about our past history that somehow disappeared? Right dad?" he turned towards the mauve dragon.
Astor grabbed the feather of his hat, "Right."
"They aren't here. You can say it all and they won't know if they stay quiet," Malefor went on.
Nestor raised his hands, "Hold on. Hold on! What are you two talking about now?"
Bruno adjusted his hat. He knew a bit from what his father told him. Only the oldest dragons or those who shared their knowledge might be aware of it.
The dark purple dragon wanted to explain, but the mauve dragon put his hand over his mouth.
"That is of no importance for now. We need to save more of our children," Astor put his cane on the ground and gazed at the others, "This is our priority. Still, I think I can show you a bit… if we reach the Castle where The Sorceress might be."
"We are not here to fight the Sorceress. What if she curses us again?" Nestor warned the old dragon.
"They will come back and steal the eggs for the next Year Of The Dragon," Malefor told them as he crossed his arms. He gazed at them and waited for anything else.
Titan approached him, "Listen to me Malefor. I don't know what you really want and this… Forbidden Artifact," he pointed at the bracelet, "You really are putting us in danger."
"Malefor isn't evil. He is a good dragon," Spyro told the dragon with a mohawk.
Flame was a little confused and decided to stay out of this argument. He didn't know anything about Malefor. He could tell that he wasn't evil since he put his life at risk for Spyro.
"Spyro, this is between adult dragons," Malefor told the child. He gazed at the adult dragons.
Magnus sighed as he put his hand on the shoulder of his leader, "We should let it go for now. I'm not even sure Malefor is as bad as we heard."
Halvor put his hammer on his shoulder, "We shouldn't focus on what he did in the past. Right now, he is saving our children and family. That is what is important."
"You better be careful on what you did. We will keep an eye on you," Gunnar grunted his warnings.
The dark purple dragon didn't care about that warning. He could get out of there quickly with his bracelet.
Flame approached his brother, "Do you know what is going on here?" he quietly asked.
"They think Malefor isn't a good dragon, but I know he is," Spyro replied.
Sparx remained out of it.
Zoe also remained out of this. She knew about the evil dragon by his reputations, but never witness his actions.
"He was cool to save you with his weird magic. I never saw something like that," the young red dragon commented.
Gunnar grunted, "Careful with this kind of dragon Spyro. You don't understand why he has been sent to the Forbidden Realm."
"I took time to know him," the youngling replied stubbornly. He turned towards his dark purple dad and approached him, "We'll save everyone together."
Nestor took his chance as the subject came back, "And you are right. We are here to save the eggs. We should keep going before the night come. They are more eggs to be found."
"And we will go our way. Now that we are all together, we will search through the portals for them," Agent Zero told them.
"We appreciate it. Honest, we really appreciate your help," the carpenter replied.
The humans left as they went towards a portal.
"That one wasn't active," Bubba thought back.
"It has enough magic to work now," the Magic Crafter replied. He wondered where that magic came from.
"Those portals are coming back since we came here," Spyro replied. He told a little about what Sheila said.
"Anyway, we have to keep going now, we lost enough time as it is," Nestor took command. He picked the young purple dragon and flew in the air, with Bubba picking the red dragon child.
The other dragons launched in the air; Titan last as he wanted to be sure to be behind the dark purple dragon.
Malefor gazed at the orange dragon, "You need to chill a little. I am not going to backstab you, if you are afraid of it. If I wanted to do that, Spyro wouldn't be here anymore and in your grief…" he said nothing else.
Flame whispered, "Malefor is creepy."
"You can tell us that again," the blue Beast Keeper nodded.
"He's nice," Spyro replied.
Astor sighed. His son wasn't making his case easier when defending himself. He was a Peace Keeper dragon at birth. It showed in his attitude sometimes, as far as he could remember it, "Malefor is talking like a Peace Keeper."
"We are taking offense in this," Magnus pouted. He let out a small smirk when the mauve dragon turned towards him.
The search went on and they found a few eggs without any difficulty. The day was coming to an end. It was getting darker and the dragons were getting tired. It helped a lot that Zoe used her magic to sent the eggs back home after Malefor and Spyro broke the spell put by Emilie by simply touching them.
It showed that the two dragons had a lot of magic in them. It was much higher than most dragons.
They prepared for the night. The old dragon sat by the side of his son. He had a lot to share and ask. The two were quiet for a few minutes. The younglings were already asleep. The adults weren't ready yet.
The dark purple dragon sat on the side, away from the other dragons. His father came and joined him. They were side by side as they observed the sky.
"We are almost done with this realm I believe," Malefor commented.
"Yeah. We searched many places, but the humans might miss some eggs," Astor replied.
"Right. We can't trust them in doing a good job… Still, I'm glad that Greta was there or I wouldn't be able to save Spyro," the dark purple dragon tapped his laps.
The oldest dragon could feel the tension between them. It had been so long since they had real time together, "Did you make sure you eat properly?"
"Of course. A lot of meat and other stuff. I'm a terrible cook, but it's edible," he replied.
"Good. You take care of yourself," Astor nodded with a small smile. He gazed at his son, "Malefor. You better not use that bracelet too much," he pointed at it, "I won't try to take it away from you or ask you to do it. I know… that we have to be careful with the Guardian Dragons," he tapped his knees and let out a small smile.
"Father… Are you okay?"
"Got a few holes in my memories. I'm not young anymore you know," he chuckled as he tapped his cane on the ground. He sighed sadly, "We missed so much together… When you were sent in the Forbidden Realm."
"I'm sorry, but I have to get them all. We lived an injustice long ago and I cannot let it go," he closed his eyes, "Even when the Sorceress is down, there is more to it father."
"I won't stop you. Just," Astor hugged his son.
Malefor gazed at the side and blushed. He didn't push him away and hugged him back, "I won't leave your side until we are done here."
"Good."
Nestor gazed at them and turned towards Spyro. He knew the child was a good dragon, but his mind wandered a little. The question of what he would have done if their son took the same path as Malefor. He shivered at it and went to rest. He let Astor reconnect with his son in peace.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
