Recently, I've been having an extreme lack of motivation to continue with this version of Wings of Fire: Salvation. I originally wanted to finish this version of the story, and then get to work on the rewrite, but I've already started brainstorming for the rewrite and now I feel more inspired to work on that. I've already started retconning in small details to some of the latest chapters of this version of the story, with the plan to have them be better addressed earlier on in the rewrite, but there are some elements of the finale that haven't been properly built up in previous chapters, like Hidden and Ricky's relationship with their father. This version story has long suffered from two major factors: the fact that I only had a rough idea as to where I wanted to go with it and figured out the rest as I went, and the rigorous weekly release schedule I kept up despite school and other things I had to do, resulting in chapters that feel both rushed and poorly thought out. These factors also weren't very good for my mental health, which is something I've been working on improving this year. The rewrite will address both of these issues, as I will have detailed information about the plot and the different worlds the characters visit created in advance, and will have the entire thing written before I start uploading it.
Right now, I feel like it would be best for the story, and for my mental health, if I focused on the things I'm most inspired to work on, and worked on them at my own pace; and right now that's brainstorming for the many plot changes I'll make in the rewrite, and figuring out every last little detail about Hidden's world. I'll be posting updates on the planning for the rewrite to the WoF subreddit from time to time, and I've already posted some information I thought up this week about the different nations that constitute Hidden's Pyrrhia, and I think there's some pretty cool stuff there. I may come back to this version of the story later on, and finish it up when I have the motivation to do so, but I'm not going to try to brute force these chapters out when my mind is focused on other things. And with my senior year about to close and a bunch of college stuff I still need to get sorted out, I think it would be best not to overload myself with too much worry about this story. In my mind, whether it be working on this rough draft, or preparing for the final, I'm still making progress toward the completion of this story.
With that, I want to thank everyone who's stuck with me through this story, and I hope that you stick around when the rewrite eventually drops too, because I've got some pretty cool ideas that will make it leagues better than this version of the story ever was. Not sure when it will be done, and it probably won't be for quite some time, but I'm not going to disappear entirely while working on it. I'll still be posting to the sub, where you'll occasionally be able to find new info about my ideas for this story, and I might also dabble in a short one-shot or two in order to improve my creative writing skills.
