A.N. — I normally pick when to write about a character based on their birthday, their connection (or lack thereof) to the previous/next chapter, or because I get an idea. This one, though, is for the actress' birthday. It also touches on post-book canon, something I tend to eschew.
53. Hannah Abbott
For a girl who hung out mainly with Ernie Macmillan during Hogwarts, it surprised many when Hannah Abbott took up with Neville Longbottom. Aside from their shared love of Herbology and pureblooded families (both of which had seen tragedy befall them), there wasn't much outward evidence to tie the two together. Perhaps their bond had been formed in the D.A., in either Hannah's fifth or seventh years (her aborted sixth year wasn't talked about). Maybe their shared lack of confidence grew into a reliance on each other.
Hannah and Neville just fit, two disparate pieces attaining wholeness in their union.
A.N. 2 — Given how much this drabble also deals with Neville, I now feel bad not placing it next to his. But the end of July is a busy time in the HP calendar, and the space wasn't there.
