Chapter 53

"Take him up to your room" her mum ordered dismissively as they all climbed out of the slim black car.

Calypso blanched, "My room? Surely that's not-"
Her mum glared at her. "I told you to take him up"
"But-"
"Did Cissy never to you to be polite?"

Calypso pressed her lips tightly together to avoid a retort. Narcissa had in fact taught her to stay silent many times as she grew up. 'A woman is seen but never heard' were just some of her favorite sayings.

"I thought so," her mum said smugly, patting Calypso on the head. "I've got a few prisoners to collect now…" and she disappeared behind the house to the basement door on the side.

Calypso glanced over at Theo who was leaning against the metal fence, refusing to meet her eyes, and sighed. "Come on then"

She led him through the front door, up to two sets of stairs, and into her room.

It contrasted starkly with the rest of the house, which was black and neon. Her room had the lightest pink walls and a silk canopy bed. Someone had also installed a new bay window with fluffy pink pillows and silver tassels. The primary source of light seemed to be coming from newly strung-up lanterns, emitting a silvery glow throughout her room, making it seem as if a fairy lived here.

When she'd left her room just two days ago, it was plain with touches of gold but now...it was a little much.

"It's changed" Theo finally said after a moment of silence.

Calypso turned around to glare at him. "Now you say something?"
He shrugged. "Would you rather I agree with your mother?"
"Agree? Don't tell me that you actually believe the whole 'women are just decoration' shit"

He stared at her indifferently. "It's not much farther from the entire 'purebloods are better' idea actually. And it's not just in the wizarding world either. Muggles have a belief based not on blood, but on the color of skin. All revolve around a group of people who believe they're superior to someone else."
"I think the gender ones the worse," Calypso admitted. "Mudbloods are still human, just smelly, stupid, magic-stealing humans. In the muggle world, from my one year of muggle studies, the races treated each other as servants. But women are treated like their dolls in the pureblood society. To stand by as their husband makes all the calls"
"That belief's died out a long time ago"

"No, it hasn't. But I wouldn't expect you to know. You're literally a rich, white pureblood male. The most powerful of the entire 'holier than thou' tower."

Theo frowned. "Is that a muggle reference"
"It's from a muggle bible, yes...but it fits. Everyone wrongly thinks their better than someone else"

"Don't let the Dark lord here you say that"
"You know what I meant! I still think that mudbloods are horrible and we should have more power of them since we have magic!"

"Mmm," Theo was silent for a count of ten before his lips came crashing down on hers.

The kiss was fast and felt desperate, and Calypso gripped the collar of his jacket to pull him in. His hands moved around her body and she would've loved to stay there forever but of course, her mom had to walk in.

Calypso abruptly jumped back as the door creaked open.

"When I said I wanted an heir, I didn't mean now!" her mom snapped.

"Uhhh" Calypso stared at the twelve-year-old girl who was standing with her mum's wand jammed into her neck. "Who's that?"

"Oh, that's Ann. She's a mudblood Hufflepuff" her mum said but offered no explanation. "I've got to drop her off at the Malfoys. I'll leave you two to be then...but if you're going to have sex, at least lock the door", and with that, she swept out of the room.

Calypso glared at the spot her mum had just left. "Someday I'm going to strangle that woman"

Theo looked at her thoughtfully. "You know, you really listen to your mother more"
"What? About the locking door thing-"
Theo's face flushed a slightly pink color. "No, as in being polite"
"Oh don't get started on me with that Mr. I'm so perfect. It's hardly good manners to abruptly kiss a girl is it?" Calypso yelled before slamming the door behind her.

A few hours later, Theo knocked on her door.

"What do you want?" she spat.

He groaned and came in. "I'm going to Diagon Alley"
"Fine" Calypso said as she studied her newly painted acrylic nails.

Theo tapped his polished black shoe impatiently. "I need you to come with me"
"Why?"
"I'll explain on the way there"
"Fine"

So basically, he wanted her to make Granger feel bad for him so they could become friends or whatever. And he was sure they'd be there because he had 'contacts' in the ministry that would be part of Potter's security.

"I heard the Weasley's started a shop...can we see it?" Calypso asked hopefully as they arrived. "Pleeeeease"

She actually didn't want to see the shop, she just wanted to waste Theo's time.

Theo glared at her. "No"
"Come onnnn. I'm already helping you get the mud-"
"Shut it."
Calypso folded her arms. "Is that them?"
"What?" Theo snapped. "Mm, I guess you'll get to see the blood traitor's shop after all. They just went in"
"Hmph." As if that was going to excite her, but she still walked into the bookshop.

"Uhhh- Hermione right?"

The mudblood whipped around. "What?" she asked sharply.

Calypso went for a somewhat desperate look. "Can I talk to you for a second?"

"I don't know, you can ask someone else for one I'm sure"
"Nobody wants to talk with me" Calypso lied.

Luckily, Weasley and Potter were too engrossed in fake ears to hear her.

Granger glanced her down nervously. "Oh alright, just a minute though"
Calypso grimaced. "Deal, come out here then"
Surprisingly, Granger followed her out through the back, she was lucky Calypso wasn't on a job to murder her today.

"Do you need anything?" Granger asked urgently.

"Oh…" Calypso blanched at what Granger thought she needed. "Oh no...something else actually. So uhh, you know how the war is going to come sooner or later?"
"Yeah?" Granger said skeptically.

"Well...the Dark Lord is becoming more and more unbearable with his ideas and I…."
"Want to defect?"
"Not me exactly, Theo"
"Nott?"

"Y-yeah him. And I'm….worried about him getting himself killed"

"Mmm, so what do you want me to do?"
Calypso nervously tapped her fingers against a metal pole. Clack, clack, clack

Granger glanced at them. "I thought that was just a muggle trend"
"What? Oh, yeah I guess. But I think they're pretty...anyways, I have a feeling that Theo is going to start hanging out by himself in the library more often and I noticed you're always there so...can you maybe keep him company?"
Granger shrugged. "Sure, but I don't think my friends will be too happy about it"
"They probably won't'" Calypso agreed. "But Theo is...not like other Slytherins, they'll warm up to him"
"Okay..but why me and not someone else"
"Because you're...open-minded. Anyone else wouldn't even have agreed to talk with me"
"That's-"
"Cruel? I guess it is. Well see you later then"

Calypso walked back around the shop and to Theo who was standing upfront. "Done"

"That was quick"

"Yeah, they're quite easy to convince actually...what do you want to do now?"
"Knockturn Alley. Malfoy wants me to get something for him"
"What?"
Theo glanced around, "Not here, it's at Borgin and Burkes though"

"That sounds dangerous, let's go shopping!"

Theo rolled his eyes, "Come on- and aren't your nails much too long to be practical?"
Calypso glared at him. "They're fine"
"Whatever you say…" and he led her into the dark alleyway to Borgins.

Fortunately, the entire alley was deserted and nobody questioned them as they reached the skull-laden window of the shop.

The door opened with a creak and Burke hurried up to greet them. "Ah, come in come in. Haven't had customers in so long-"
"Yeah well it's a bit of a giveaway to be seen buying dark objects in these times isn't it?" Calypso asked, glaring at Theo.

Theo merely shrugged and strode over to the counter. "Do you still have the necklace?"
"Yes, yes, of course, right here", Burke levitated a navy blue necklace off his case and into the air. "Very pretty eh?" he asked, noticing Calypso's glance. "One touch will kill you"
Calypso eyed the necklace warily. "What do you need that for?"

"I've told you I don't. Malfoy just asked me to pick it up. And can you fix the cabinet?"
"I- I've already told the young Malfoy that he must bring it in for full guarantees"

"And I'm sure he's already told you that it's got to stay put" Theo pressed. "Just tell us how to fix it"
"I-i-"
"Perhaps this will make you more confident" Theo sneered, rolling up his left sleeve to reveal the Dark Mark. "Tell anyone, and there will be retribution. Have you ever heard of Fenrir Greyback?"
"No, no, no Theo" Calypso interrupted. "No greyback. Just tell him how to fix it and we'll be on our way"

"I-I-very well then" Burke stuttered.

"Well then, we best be off. Remember to keep that one safe" Theo hissed, glancing over at the necklace. "Malfoy will pick it up later today"
"P-perhaps you would just like to take it now?"
"Of course not. Do you know how stupid I'd look carrying that?"
"She could for you"
Calypso backed up towards the door. "No. Theo let's go. Just don't sell that and there'll be no issues", then she dragged Theo back out the door and back into Diagon Alley.
