"Ms. Russo."
Alex stopped suddenly. Just her luck. Quickly composing herself, she turned around to find Professor Moody staring at her from across the hallway. He began to hobble over as Alex stared at him. "Hi Professor. What are you doin here?"
"I could ask you the same thing. You should be with your fellow Gryffindors, having dinner." He narrowed his eyes at her.
"I was taking a call with my godfather. I hadn't talked to him since before Christmas. He-"
"I have no interest in your excuses." He cut her off. "I should warn you, it would be wise of you to be careful where you take your calls. Don't know who could be listening in."
"Right... I'll keep that in mind." Alex stood there in discomfort as he continued to stare at her with curiosity. There was something off about him. She still couldn't put her finger on it.
"Mr. Diggory!" He suddenly called out, snapping Alex out of her thoughts. She stared at him in confusion before footsteps could be heard approaching them. Alex turned to see Cedric making his way over, a confused look on his face. She looked at Professor Moody who still had his eyes on her.
"Diggory, I'm sure you are capable of leading yourself and Ms. Russo to the Great Hall." He turned to him. "No detours of course."
"Of course Professor." Cedric nodded before taking Alex's hand and quickly leading her away. Alex looked back as he followed after Cedric to find their professor still staring at them curiously. It wasn't until they were far enough away that the two began to slow down.
"What were you doing with Professor Moody?" Cedric looked at Alex in concern as they stopped outside the Great Hall.
"I just ran into him on my way to dinner and he was warning me to be careful where I take my calls. Such a creep." She rolled her eyes. "Where were you going?"
"I didn't see you come in for dinner so I was headed to the Green Houses to find you. You mentioned you sometimes hide out there when you want to get away from Justin and your friends." Cedric squeezed her hand. "Are you alright?"
Alex smiled. "Don't worry, I'm absolutely fine. I haven't called Lupin since before the Yule Ball so I wanted to get away to talk to him for a bit. Oh, you're never gonna guess what happened!"
"What happened?" Cedric smiled as he wrapped his arms around Alex, pulling her to his chest.
"He was visiting my dad so I got to see my dad! This was the first time I was able to talk to him in so long! And I showed them the bracelet you got me! Cedric, this bracelet was my moms!"
"Really?" Cedric looked at her in surprise. "I mean, I figured it was some sort of antique..."
"It's hers! It even has her initials, A.D. on the bracelet. My dad and Lupin could barely believe it. Thank you so much for getting this for me. It's literally the most special gift you could get me." She quickly stood on her toes to plant a kiss on his lips.
"You're very welcome. I'm glad the bracelet is now with her rightful owner." He smiled at her.
"Me too." She beamed. "Umm..." She looked at Cedric awkwardly. "As much I enjoy being alone with you out here... Mad Eye Moody kinda scares me. I'd rather we beat him to the Great Hall so he doesn't notice we did take a bit of a detour."
"Right." Cedric laughed. "Would you like to join me at the Hufflepuff table?"
"Yes! I still haven't shown Max the bracelet you got me. I'm sure Mikayla will want to see it too, she loves my pendant!"
Cedric smiled at his girlfriend. "Then let's get you inside."

"Harry, Hermione, has Alex told you why she and Cedric had a falling out?" Justin asked Harry and Hermione. Justin and the golden trio were seated in the library the first morning of the new year to see if they could find any clue as to how to open the egg.
"No, she never mentioned it." Hermione closed the book in her front of her and looked at Justin. "Why do you ask?"
"I'm just curious..." he lowered his voice. "I talked to Remus and my dad last night. They suggested I give Alex a bit of freedom when it came to her life in Hogwarts."
"You aren't particularly taking their advice right now if you are trying to find out why she and Cedric were not on speaking terms." Hermione narrowed her eyes at him.
"It's just... my dad didn't know either. I feel like Remus knows though. Alex talks to him a lot, so she was bound to tell him about it. The only thing my dad said was that according to Alex, it was between her and Cedric only, but that it was Alex's fault."
"Do you think it has something to do with Good?" Ron asked. "You think Cedric caught Alex and Good snogging?"
"Of course not Ron!" Hermione picked up her closed book and smacked it on Ron's shoulder. "Alex would never do that!"
"It was just a question!" Ron looked at Hermione in disbelief as he rubbed his shoulder.
"You've been awfully quiet. Did Alex tell you anything?" Justin looked at Harry, who seemed to be overly engrossed with the book on his desk.
Harry sighed as he looked at Justin. "I think we need to respect Alex's privacy. If she resolved the issue with Cedric, it's not our concern to find out why they fell out anymore. We should be glad for her that it's resolved."
Was he convincing himself or Justin? Justin gave Harry a doubtful look. "I guess that's fair." He nodded.
"I don't think it'll do you any good to continue to bother Alex about this anyway. She seems really happy to have made amends with Cedric. It's better you apologize to her about starting that fight in the Great Hall and move on." Hermione looked at him seriously.
"Why should I apologize?"
"Because you started it." Harry, Ron and Hermione said simultaneously.
Justin sighed. "Fine... I guess you all are right. I'll apologize to Alex."
~~~~~
"Stop it Cedric." Alex giggled as Cedric continued to pepper the back of her neck with kisses.
It was their last day before the new term started and Cedric had finally persuaded Alex to join him at Hogsmeade for the day. After exploring the shops all morning, the two decided to get a butterbeer at the Hog's Head. Alex had been reluctant to go with Cedric because she had learned from Professor Snape what potion they would be learning to brew next and was eager to read up on the potion before class on Tuesday. Alex was struggling to focus as Cedric sat beside her with an arm wrapped around her waist. He had be alternating between kissing her neck, and playing with her hair.
"Do you really want me to stop." He smirked.
"No, but I need you to stop. I need to finish reading up on this potion so I'm ready for class!" Alex looked at him with a forced frown.
"You can always do it tomorrow?"
"Or I can do it today and spend time with you tomorrow?" Alex suggested, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
Cedric wrapped his other arm around Alex's waist to hug her from behind, before resting his head on her shoulders "What if I want you to myself today? You know I brought you here for that reason."
"You promised we'd study for a bit."
"You've studied long enough love." Cedric placed a kiss on her cheek.
Alex sighed. "I guess- hey!"
She frowned as Cedric pulled away from her quickly. She turned towards him to see him looking past her. When Alex turned back around, she found Justin standing in front of the pair. She noticed the golden trio was not too far off, seated at a table close to theirs.
"Justin."
"Hey Alex, hi Cedric. Cedric, do you mind giving my sister and I a moment alone to talk?" He looked at Cedric, who glanced from Alex to Justin before nodding back.
"I'll go get Alex another butterbeer." Cedric gave Alex a quick peck on the cheek before standing up.
"Extra whip!" Alex called out as Cedric made his way towards the bar. She turned her attention back to her brother with a frown as he took a seat across from her.
"What do you want?" She frowned as she folded her arms over her chest.
"To apologize."
"Oh?" Alex raised an eyebrow at him.
"Come on Alex. I know you talked to Dad and Remus before I did. They put the whole situation into perspective for me and told me about how I've been too involved in your personal life." Justin took a deep breaths "As hard as this is for me to say, I am truly sorry Alex."
Alex smiled. "Okay, fine. I forgive you."
Justin looked at his sister in surprise. "Really? It was that easy?"
"But-"
"Of course." Justin rolled his eyes before holding his hand up to urge Alex to continue.
"From now on you have to actually stay out of my business. I don't care if Ginny or Neville or anyone else has been hearing rumors about me, they are just rumors and as my brother it's your job to ignore them and trust that I'm dealing with it. If I need your help, I will come to you." She looked at her brother expectantly as he frowned
Justin sighed in defeat. "Fine. You're right. Just promise me if it ever does get bad, you'll ask for my help or just talk to me about it. I'm still your big brother and I worry about you."
Alex rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. "Fine."
"So you're good now? You and Cedric seem to be cozy, no problems anymore?" Justin looked at his sister in concern
"We're fine. We had a big bump on the road but we sorted it out and we're both happy." She smiled to herself.
"And you're not going to tell me what happened? Even though you did tell Remus..."
Alex shook her head. "It's over. I don't want to relive a time where Cedric and I were on the verge of breaking up."
"That, we can both agree on." Cedric said with a smile as he walked up to the two siblings with two butterbeers. "Justin, join us for a butterbeer? Alex and I can share."
Justin shook his head as he stood up. "Next time. You two have fun."
Alex watched her brother depart to join their friends at another table. Once he was seated and chatting away with the golden trio, she turned her attention back to Cedric. He pushed the mug of butterbeer with extra whip in front of her. "Why thank you."
"Anything for you love." Cedric smiled. He took a sip of his butterbeer as his expression morphed to one of wonder. "So... do you intend on ever telling Justin or your other friends about what happened with Harry?"
Alex shook her head. "Definitely not. The only person who knows what happened besides us is Lupin and Max. I just don't want to make things awkward with my dad and Justin. Harry is my dad's godson and he's also one of Justin's closest friends at Hogwarts."
"That is true." Cedric nodded to himself. He looked at Alex with a smile. "I'm really good at brewing that potion you were reading up on. I may be able to pull some strings to get us a cauldron and the ingredients. How about I help you brew the potion before dinner so you and I can enjoy the rest of our time together at Hogsmeade."
Alex smiled. "Two things I love, shortcuts in studying and you. You have yourself a deal."
