One Year Later:
Kagome stared in consternation at the markings on the wall, her little brow furrowed in frustration. Still, she hadn't grown any and like always, he was leaving her behind in the dust. Pouting, she tossed the piece of charcoal and turned her back on the height markings. Maybe he was getting taller but at least she was getting smarter. It made her happy that he was having so much trouble with his lessons and she wasn't. At least that was one thing she was better at.
Moving to the door, she slid it open only a crack and peeked across the hall to the open library. Sho'mru sat there, his own brows creased in frustration as his teacher leaned over his shoulder and scribbled on his paper. She smirked and turned back around, pleased. She would just have to keep being good at lessons, then Sho'mru wouldn't be the best at everything.
The door slid open wider behind her and Kagome looked over her shoulder, and smiled. "Papa!" she squealed, and jumped into his arms, snuggling into his chest.
"Kagome, child," he murmured, holding her close. Admittedly, he worried about her and couldn't help but to check in on her everyday. She may not have been entirely human but she was still so very fragile. "What have you been doing today?"
