Chapter 55: Graduation
Today is the day. The day when May, Drew, Dawn, Gary, Misty, Ash, and Paul are to graduate. Kiara is a Junior, so she'll be watching the graduation from the bleachers. Let's check up with the gang before graduation…
"Guys, I can't believe this day is finally here!" Dawn said excitedly. They all have their caps and gowns on along with sashes and cords if any. Kiara is in the stadium along with her parents. That's right, the King and Queen came to see May graduate, but she doesn't even know that they're here. Wow, will she be in for a surprise.
"I know. It's so exciting." Ash said. "We're finally graduating high school."
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but…" Gary said, looking around. "I'm actually going to miss this place."
"Yeah, me too." Drew agreed. "We've made so many memories here."
"And I've made so many good memories when I was only here for two years." May said. "And you all were here for four."
"I have to say that these last 2 years were the best out of all four." Dawn said.
"Really? Why is that?" May questioned.
"Because we became friends with you." Dawn answered.
"Aww...thanks." May said.
Drew wrapped an arm around May's waist and pulled her closer to him. They looked at each other. "And this is where we started dating and we both confessed our feelings to each other." Drew said.
May blushed. "Yeah…"
"We did lunch performances with May as Daisy…" Misty said.
"Yeah. May would show off that amazing singing voice of hers." Ash said.
"Remember breaking into a song and dance number on the first day of senior year?" Gary asked.
May laughed slightly. "And I was the one who started that."
"And remember that school play of Aladdin and the one of High School Musical?" Paul asked.
"May and Drew sure were incredible." Misty said.
"Thanks." Drew said. "And we also had the plays of Camp Rock and Teen Beach Movie."
"I'd say my favorite has to be Teen Beach Movie." May said.
"And why is that?" Drew asked, looking at May.
May looked at Drew. "Because it's the play after you proposed and it's the play that you helped me conquer my fear of water for."
"Remember prom?" Dawn asked.
May and Drew faced the gang. "I remember that night." May said. "Even though I was bullied by those girls in front of the entire senior class...I would actually still say that I had a lot of fun."
"Yeah. It was great." Ash agreed.
"We're going to have to say goodbye pretty soon…" Dawn said.
"It's almost time to go out there." Gary said.
"And we sadly can't sit next to each other out there, because it's going in alphabetical order." Misty said.
"Yeah…" May said sadly.
"How about we all meet afterward? In front of the stadium." Drew said.
"That sounds great!" Dawn agreed.
The graduation has already started. Some important people did some speeches after the pledge to the flag and the stadium is filled to the brim with people. Caroline, Norman, and Kiara are in the front row, watching May from afar.
"Now, before we give the students their diplomas," the Principal started. "We have a very special surprise for everyone here." May and Drew got out of their seats, took off their caps and gowns, leaving them on their chairs, and they squeezed past everyone in their row. They then ran towards the stairs that go up to the bleachers and they stood right there at the top. "Please enjoy this song from Seniors Drew and May!"
Caroline and Norman looked at each other. "May?" Caroline questioned.
"And Drew?" Norman asked. Cue the music.
(This song is "What We Came Here For" from Camp Rock 2.)
A spotlight shone on the bleachers, shining on Drew. May and Drew started slowly walking down the row towards each other as Drew started singing the song into a microphone that he's had since they entered the stadium. "They say that life is a two-way street. When you're not sure, you gotta trust your feet to know the right way."
All of the Seniors are clapping to the beat, all eyes are on Drew on the bleachers. Another spotlight shone on May. "You can keep on movin' with your head down." May sang into a microphone. "Or you can stop and take a look around. And that's the choice I've made."
May and Drew met in the middle and looked into each other's eyes before they started walking down the stairs. "It's for that movie inside your head." They sang together. "Making memories we can't forget. And when you can't forget."
A video started playing through a projector to a large screen, showing pictures and videos from senior year. "You're gonna know in your soul." They sang together as May and Drew started walking down the aisle that separates both sides of the seniors. "This is what we came here for."
"So live it loud." Drew sang.
"Here and now." May sang.
"This moment, it won't be ignored." They sang together.
"So why not open up that door?"
"It's what we came here for." They sang together. May and Drew walked up the stairs of the stage and faced each other in center stage.
"Oh, yeah." Drew sang.
"For every song we let play outside." May sang. "The melodies began to write. Every time we sing." She faced the audience. "Oh yeah yeah yeah."
"Friends we've made, fun we've had." Drew sang. "Memories gonna make me laugh. It's a beautiful thing."
"So beautiful." May sang, glancing at Drew.
They both sang to the audience. "I wanna say it around the world."
"All around the world." May sang.
"Cause everybody should feel this good." They sang together.
"When you feel this good." Drew sang.
"You're gonna know." They sang together. An instrumental part followed after that. May and Drew walked to the ends of the stage, looking at the parents in the bleachers. May and Drew clapped their hands together to the beat, telling the audience to join in. And they did. The entire stadium was clapping to the beat of the song,
May and Drew walked back to each other and faced the audience. "You're gonna know in your soul. This is what we came here for." They sang together.
They looked at each other. "So live it loud." Drew sang. "Here and now."
"This moment, it won't be ignored." May sang, crescendoing and holding out the note.
"You're gonna know in your soul." Drew sang.
"This is what we came here for."
"So live it loud."
"Live it loud."
"Here and now."
"This moment, it won't be ignored." They sang together.
"It won't be ignored." May sang.
They both faced the audience. "So why not open up that door?" Drew sang.
"Open up that door." May sang. They faced each other. "So come on open up that door oooooh." She held out the note as Drew smiled, seeing as how she's singing these notes perfectly.
"It's what we came here…" Drew sang.
"Came here…" May sang.
They faced the audience. "For…" Drew crescendoed and held out the note.
"That's what we came here,"
"Came here for." They finished together. The audience erupted into applause. May and Drew beamed and bowed to the audience.
They faced each other and smiled brightly. "That was amazing!" May said excitedly, not in the microphone. She then lunged herself at Drew, wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug. Drew hugged her back.
May pulled away. "I guess I'll see you later."
"See ya." Drew said. They parted and walked off of the stage after handing their microphones to the Principal. They went and sat back down in their seats after they put back on their caps and gowns.
The applause died down and the graduation continued. The Principal started calling up the seniors one by one to give them their diplomas.
"Guys! We did it! We graduated!" Dawn said happily.
"And might I just say that the song you two sang was amazing?" Misty asked May and Drew.
"You just did." May said. "And thanks."
"We chose the perfect song for graduation." Drew said.
"You two definitely did." Gary said. "And you guys really rocked it out there. Everyone loved it."
"Guys!" A voice called.
The gang all looked to where they heard the voice. They saw Kiara running to them. She stopped running when she reached the gang.
"Congratulations, everyone!" Kiara said.
"Thanks, Kiara." Ash said.
"Sure thing. And May," Kiara said, looking at May. "Mom and Dad are in the carriage, ready to head home. We're ready to leave whenever you are."
"Wait. Mom and Dad came?" May asked.
"Oh...right. I forgot that they never told you yet, but yeah. We were in the audience watching you the entire time."
"Wow...I thought they wouldn't come because of, you know...fans."
"Yeah. But it was fine. With a few guards around us, no one even bothered."
"Well, I can't wait to show them my diploma and hear what they have to say, so I guess we'll get going now."
"Okay, May." Dawn said. "Be sure to still stay in contact with us, because we're going to want to talk during summer too."
"Don't worry. I will. And don't forget the day of our wedding." May said.
"We won't."
May faced Drew and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking away with Kiara. "Bye, guys!" May called, waving as she walked backwards.
The gang waved back to her.
Graduation is over. They all graduated except Kiara who still has one more year of school left. It's now time to enjoy their lives without having to worry about school. May and Drew have their wedding coming up, as well as their coronation ceremony, and then they'll both be living in the castle as King and Queen of Hoenn. One thing's for sure...May and Drew's happily ever after is soon to come.
The next part is called Living Out Our Fairytale.
