DarkFoxKit: Ah, spring, a time where the temperature starts to warm up, when the trees begins to bloom, the pollen thick in the air, the grass growing aggressively turning your backyard into a jungle, the bees and hornets coming out, buzzing in your ears and making nests where they really shouldn't. And… you guys could probably tell I hate spring, and summer.

ZAFT: And my sister is the opposite; she loves summer because to her, it means the boats come out on the lakes. I don't mind summer, but the extreme temperatures get to me and make me sick. Blech...

DarkFoxKit: Unfortunately, I don't live near any lakes, so I don't get to go swimming in the summer. I used to love going to the pool, but we've stopped. Admittedly, not having school and getting to go swimming were my favorite parts of summer. Now that I'm out of school, and we haven't gone swimming for years… yeah, can't say I have much of a reason to like summer anymore. I just prefer the cold.

Andy: Which is kinda odd that you gave me fire later on.

DarkFoxKit: Danny already took ice.

ZAFT: I don't mind winter as much; in fact, I love it. What would make it more enjoyable for me is if I had my own fire core to keep me warm, like a certain Warrior of Flame and Andy have. *Eyes Takuya*

Takuya: What? I can't help it if I have a fire core of my own! *Holds up hands in defense*

DarkFoxKit: Technically you have the Spirit of Flames, not really a core, but close enough. Anyways, I'm going to try to survive the warmer to scorching seasons. But you guys will likely be hearing me complain a lot more later.

Chapter 55: The Warrior of Water's Assault

Valerie was still unsure about this creature. But it didn't look to be dangerous. It certainly wasn't a ghost, according to her scanners anyways. But it was definitely not of this world. It looked like some kind of seal or dog with huge front claws, and red little hair. It could also talk. She gave the creature a tray of food, not sure what to feed it. But the creature seemed capable of eating anything she could eat. It ate fruit, meat, and even vegetables just fine.

"So… what are you, exactly?" Valerie questioned the creature, seeing how it looked like it got its strength back after gobbling up half of her fridge.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Gomamon, I'm… uh… a Digimon, short for Digital Monster," The creature that called itself 'Gomamon' explained. "I'm guessing I'm not in the Digital World anymore…"

Valerie blinked. "Digimon? Digital World?" She was confused, as this was the first she had heard of Digimon.

"Yup! I live there, along with other Digimon," Gomamon answered with a smile. "... Didn't you know that you had two other worlds beside your own?"

"I know about the Ghost Zone, at least, that it exists." Valerie admitted. "But I had no idea this Digital World existed as well."

"Well, in a way, you humans sort of created the Digital World," Gomamon stated. "You know how you have technology that lets you access a world of data?"

Valerie nodded, realizing that Gomamon meant the internet. "Yeah, it's the internet."

"It's not just the internet, it's also when you use that box that shows you what other people are doing," Gomamon pointed at the TV. "Or when you're playing a game on the box. Anything related to data and digital, that's what makes our world."

Valerie blinked, surprised. "So we humans created your world in a sense? That's… surprising. I had no idea that was happening."

"This is pre-school stuff, they teach it to us in Digimon school," Gomamon chuckled. "I guess I'm just surprised humans know so little about it though."

"Well, it's not like we humans can actually go to your world on a whim." Valerie pointed out. "It obviously has to be difficult for humans to go there if we know so little about it."

"I mean, it's not like we Digimon can come here on a whim either," Gomamon remarked. "Well… we used to not be able to. There's been strange openings lately between our world and yours that Digimon have been falling into. I guess I accidentally swam into one during my little… investigation."

Valerie frowned. "That… must have been scary. I can't imagine suddenly winding up in a new world and knowing about it or its inhabitants."

"It is a little scary, but I find it exciting!" Gomamon smiled. "I get to see a whole new world, a world that not many others can say they saw for themselves! Well, at least not among Digimon anyways."

Valerie smiled a bit. "You sound like a bit of an adventurer."

"Hah, yeah, you could say that. I lived with my kind and friends on an island that's very safe. It has its own food, and no other Digimon usually come to bother us. It's nice, sure, but I wanted something more in life, you know?" Gomamon explained. "I discovered what looked like an abandoned city under the ocean, and I went to explore around it, when I suddenly ended up in this world. It wouldn't have been so bad if Ranamon hadn't attacked me, but I'm glad you saved me back there. I probably would've been Ranamon's lunch if you hadn't."

"Who exactly is Ranamon?" Valerie asked. "That Digimon didn't look very friendly."

"She's… well… I don't know why she's like that right now… she's one of the Legendary Warriors who are supposed to keep the Digital World safe from evil," Gomamon said.

"Legendary… Warriors?" Valerie asked.

"Oh boy, you better sit down. This is going to be a long history lesson," Gomamon chuckled.

The school day was finally over, but nobody went home quite yet. Danny was finally able to sneak away from Paulina to meet up with Takuya, Tucker, and Sam outside of the school, on one of the picnic tables.

"I'm losing my mind," Danny groaned. "Paulina is pretty high maintenance."

Takuya looked at Danny in sympathy. "I'm sorry you have to be around her. I can't imagine how hard it must be."

"I thought it would be great to have Paulina as a girlfriend, but she's draining me. I also can't protect Amity Park while trying to keep her happy," Danny grumbled. "I didn't realize how clingy Paulina can be either."

"Well, just shows you that beauty is skin deep," Sam remarked, sounding a little too happy to be hearing this.

Tucker looked around. "Where's Andy? I thought he would be with us by now."

"Maybe he got dragged away by more popular kids?" Terriermon asked. "A lot of the girls seem to really like hearing his advice."

"You want to know where Andy is?" Dorimon chuckled, seeming to be alone.

Takuya looked at Dorimon. "Do you know where he is?"

"I might have an idea," Dorimon said before standing on top of a dirt pile.

Andy's head came up from the dirt pile, grumbling. The others were about to gasp when he quickly shushed them. "Shhhh! I'm trying to stay undercover, if you know what I mean."

Takuya chuckled. "You don't like the popularity?" He noted with a grin.

Terriermon stuffed one of his ears into his mouth to keep himself from laughing out loud.

"It wouldn't be so bad if these people would stop glomping me the second they see me. I can only give out so much advice to these people," Andy hissed. "How ironic that they used to avoid me like the plague before I became an A-List, now they can't keep their hands off me."

Tucker chuckled as well. "Sorry to hear that, dude."

"Not half as sorry as I am," Andy growled.

"Alright, let's all calm down," Gatomon spoke up. "What do you two plan to do about this?"

Patamon looked at Danny. "You know what you have to do, Danny. Paulina isn't making you happy, she's just using you for her own happiness."

Danny sighed. "I know, Patamon, but it's hard because I don't want to hurt her feelings."

Tucker frowned. "Sometimes it's better to break her heart in the long run than keep doing this in the short term."

"Besides, what's she going to do if you break up with her? Turn into a dragon?" Andy snickered.

"You're never going to let me live that one down, are you?" Danny groaned.

"Not since I had to get turned into a dragon myself because of it!" Andy huffed.

Takuya sweat-dropped at the twins arguing. "Okay, no need to argue you two. We need to come up with a plan on what to do about your popularity."

"But how?" Danny asked. "I think we've gotten too popular, even if Paulina broke up with me, I don't think I'd just fall back down to where I was before… would I?"

"The popular food chain is very vicious, Danny," Andy remarked. "If the thing that made you popular in the first place were to be gone, then they won't care what else you did, you're going back to the 'loser table', or whatever they like to call it."

Tucker nodded. "It's simple. You break up with Paulina, and you are no longer popular." He then frowned. "At least… I think it's simple."

"And what if Paulina refuses to let Danny go?" Sam asked.

"She can't force him to stay, no matter how popular she is," Gatomon reassured.

"Okay… but what about you, Andy?" Danny asked. "I doubt that you and Dash can just stop being friends."

"Maybe not for real…" Andy grinned. "But there are ways for… friends to fight…"

"I don't like the way you phrased that," Dorimon mumbled.

Takuya nodded. "That… gives me an ominous feeling…"

"How am I going to break up with Paulina though?" Danny asked.

"Be brutal and straight forward with her," Sam suggested with a grin.

"Uh… yeah… I'd rather not…" Danny sheepishly chuckled.

Takuya sweat-dropped at Sam's suggestion. "Sam… you're a bit too eager to have Danny break up with Paulina…"

"Okay, maybe you can try something a little more radical?" Tucker suggested.

"Is radical good?" Terriermon questioned.

"Daaaaaanny!~" Paulina called out, making Danny stiffen. "Has anyone seen my Danny?"

"Oh… crap…" Danny muttered. "She's looking for me…"

Danny quickly turned himself invisible just as Paulina was coming. Andy buried himself back underground, since he couldn't go invisible on a whim.

Takuya, Tucker, and Sam all looked at each other before looking back at where Danny and Andy were hiding.

"So… we pretend we don't know where Danny and Andy are?" Sam asked.

"We pretend we don't know where Danny and Andy are." Tucker and Takuya said at the same time.

"So, now do you understand?" Gomamon asked, finally finishing telling Valerie about the history of the Digital World, and the Legendary Warriors.

Valerie nodded, but it was a bit hard to wrap her mind around it all. "Yeah… I think I get it." She admitted. "And these Legendary Warriors are like these great heroes who saved the Digital World not just once, but several times."

"Yeah. We used to have the Royal Knights that did that, but ever since they disappeared, the Legendary Warriors took their place," Gomamon remarked. "Things have been a bit more chaotic in the Digital World lately since the Celestial Digimon left, but it's still able to run at least. One of my friends actually knows the Legendary Warriors personally. I'm kind of jealous of him."

Valerie perked up. "Really?" She was a bit intrigued now. "I didn't think these Legendary Warriors would be known personally. I kind of assumed, based on what you told me about them, that they would be stuck up and not want to associate with the lower level Digimon."

"Oh, no, they're nothing like that. At least… not the ones we know. See, the Legendary Warriors themselves are nothing but spirits now, they had lost their bodies in their battle against Lucemon a long time ago," Gomamon explained. "Whoever inherits their spirits become the Legendary Warriors themselves. As far as I know, 5… well, I think it's 6 now? Maybe 7? I lost count, but some human children inherited some of the Spirits of the Legendary Warriors. They can use their spirits to become Digimon, which was very unheard of at the time for us."

Valerie felt her jaw drop at that revelation. These Legendary Warriors were humans?! "Are these Spirits ghosts?!"

"Uh… well, no, not in a traditional sense. They are Spirits, but they can't freely roam around like ghosts can, and they're not made of ectoplasm. Their spirits are trapped in these… figurine-like things, I guess? And they can only really do anything if someone inherits their power," Gomamon answered.

Valerie frowned. "So, it's like an ancient artifact they are bound to…"

"I don't know too much about it, I only know what I've read in Bokomon's book about the Legendary Warriors. It looks like whoever inherits these spirits retains their own personality, so it's not like they're being possessed or anything, they're just using the Legendary Warrior's power and form for their own. It's like… you wearing your red suit thing, you're able to use its weapons and whatnot, but it doesn't make you do anything, right?"

Valerie had to admit, that was a good description of it. "Yeah… I think I get it. These Spirits aren't real ghosts, but more like… a suit almost." She then sighed. "I get the feeling there is more to it than that, but that's the best comparison I have right now."

"It's also best not to think too hard on it. After all, unless we've experienced it ourselves, we would likely never be able to comprehend it fully," Gomamon remarked. "Just know that these humans who have these Spirits are good people. But… it would seem some of the Legendary Warriors are corrupted, like Ranamon… 4 years ago, some of the Legendary Warriors were corrupted due to Cherubimon's… well, more like Lucemon's evil data. But they should've been cleansed by now, so I don't understand why Ranamon is the way she is now."

Valerie frowned. "Do you think something could have happened to her 'Spirit'?"

"Either that or the Digimon who inherited her Spirit is actually bad," Gomamon answered. "It is possible for bad people, Digimon or human, to still take the Legendary Warrior's Spirit and use it for evil purposes."

Valerie frowned some more. "Then we need to eliminate the Digimon behind it."

"But I don't know if that is the case, so we should be careful how we do this. What if Ranamon is human? Are you willing to kill one of your own kind?" Gomamon asked. "From what I understand, humans can't be reborn like us Digimon."

Valerie froze at those words. She hadn't considered the possibility of Ranamon's Spirit being found by a human. "..." She looked down before softly giving her response. "No… I couldn't kill a human…"

"Then you don't have to," Gomamon spoke up. "All we need to do is weaken Ranamon enough for her fractal code to show. If you can take the fractal code, you'll take the Spirit away from whoever was using it, and they'll return to normal."

Valerie looked up at Gomamon. "But I don't know how I could take this fractal code. Isn't there some special method or device I would need?"

"Not to worry! I'm a Digimon! Taking fractal code is what I can do. That is if you're willing to work with me." Gomamon smiled.

Valerie looked surprised, but decided to go with the offer. "If you're offering, I would like that. This is my first time fighting a Digimon, so I need all the help I can get."

"It'll be my first time working with a human, so this will be a first experience for both of us," Gomamon chuckled. "The first thing we should do is try to track down Ranamon before she causes anymore damage."

Valerie grinned. "This should be interesting." Then her grin fell. "But how can I track down Ranamon? My scanners are for ghosts, not Digimon."

"You have some pretty high tech stuff if you can track down ghosts with it, maybe you could make something that can track down Digimon?" Gomamon suggested.

"I… didn't make this, someone sent this to me," Valerie admitted.

"Oh… well, can't you ask them to make you something like that?" Gomamon asked. "Ah well, it's not that important. As a Digimon, I can sense other Digimon if they're not too far away, and especially if they're powerful. Ranamon is definitely powerful."

Valerie nodded, slightly relieved at hearing that. "Good." Then a thought crossed her mind. "What if we come across another Legendary Warrior though? I mean, if these guys are defenders of the Digital World, then they must be just as strong, and I wouldn't want to get involved in one of their fights, especially if they appear to fight Ranamon."

"That depends. You're here to protect your town from ghosts and bad Digimon, right?" Gomamon asked. "So wouldn't that make you the Legendary Warrior of this place?"

Valerie chuckled. "I guess it does. But what I mean is, should I avoid getting in the middle of the fight? I mean, I could get hurt badly if I did."

"Hunting ghosts is no different from getting in the middle of two Digimon's fight. I'd say that would be your call, Valerie. I'm an adventurer, not a morality compass," Gomamon chuckled.

Valerie smiled a bit. "I guess it is my call."

Gomamon put her red seashell necklace back on her neck. Valerie took notice of it. "What's that?"

"It's my good luck charm, I wear it everywhere with me since I found it. A red seashell is very rare on my island," Gomamon answered. "Betamon likes to call it the Scarlet Shell though."

Valerie smiled at the thought. "That's a nice shell. It's very pretty."

Valerie then had her suit come onto her body, then the hoverboard came out from her feet.

"Ooooh, wow, that's so cool! I didn't know humans had such technology!" Gomamon whistled when she saw the suit and hoverboard just coming out like that.

"Hehe… the person who sent me this designed it for ease of use and concealment." Valerie chuckled. "It's been very handy so far."

Gomamon hopped onto the back of Valerie's board. "I apologize for any scratches I might leave. I don't exactly have grippers or hands to hold on to it with."

Valerie shook her head. "It's fine. I can repair any scratches you might make. You just hang on and I will try to not fly so fast or hard."

Valerie had the hoverboard move out through the open window. She didn't go too fast, worried about Gomamon falling off. Though Gomamon looked more in awe at the view than worried about falling off.

"Wooooow, so this is what flying's like!" Gomamon cheered in pleasure.

Valerie laughed. "It's certainly an experience. Many humans like to fly, so I can understand why it's a draw to them."

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Danny asked for the upteenth time.

The group was currently at the Nasty Burger. Since school was finally out, a lot of the Casper High students liked to meet up here.

"Of course, you're going to let her down gently, and then give her a nice gift to soften the blow," Tucker stated.

Danny looked down at the small box he was supposed to give to Paulina after he broke up with her. "What if she sees this box and thinks it's a ring or something, and thinks I'm going to propose to her?"

"You're 14, I doubt even Paulina would be deluded enough to think you're going to propose to her right now," Andy remarked. "... Then again…"

Takuya frowned. "Andy… don't go down that line of thought."

"It's not that hard, you tell Paulina it's not working out, but that she's a great girl, and some other guy would love her, blah, blah, blah, give her the present and move on," Sam said, rolling her eyes a bit.

Tucker nodded. "It will go smoothly, Danny. Just remain calm when you do it."

"Good luck, bro~" Andy gave the half ghost brother a thumbs up. He's gonna die for real isn't he?

"I'll be here for support if you need it," Patamon gently said to Danny from his backpack.

Danny nodded and took a deep breath. It was now or never. He was looking for Paulina so he could get the process over with.

The others sat at another table to watch. Danny could feel his heart pounding against his chest, which was unusual since his heartbeat had slowed down since he became half ghost, not that he was going to tell Andy about that, Andy's already hard on his case about being half ghost as it was.

"Just stay calm, Danny," Patamon whispered. "Everything will be alright."

Danny saw Paulina and took a breath before letting it out. "Okay… Here we go…" He muttered to himself as he made his way over to the popular girl.

"Danny!" Paulina smiled. "I was getting worried that I couldn't find you! Little did I know you were planning a surprise for me here at the Nasty Burger!"

"Uh… y-yeah, it'll be a surprise alright…" Danny gulped nervously. "Why… don't we go sit down?"

Danny led Paulina to an empty table by the corner. A part of Danny hoped that meant nobody would pay them any real attention, but that hope was dashed when he noticed a lot of eyes were on them already.

"So what is it that you wanted to show me?" Paulina questioned, looking excited.

"Um… well… You see… I… I don't think this will continue to work out between us, Paulina…" Danny began nervously. "I-I mean… you're a sweet girl and any guy would like you as a girlfriend, but… I don't think it is working out for me as your boyfriend…"

Paulina started to frown. "Wait… it sounds like you're breaking up with me. But that can't be, nobody would break up with me. I'm the most popular and the prettiest girl in school. Boys would kill to have me!"

"Yes! But being your boyfriend is not for me. Anyone else would love to be your boyfriend! You could get another guy who is just as nice as me no problem." Danny said. "I'm sure that someone will come around soon enough."

Paulina was staring at Danny like he suddenly transformed into a ghost. Danny did a quick check of himself just to make sure he didn't actually transform. "But… no… nobody's supposed to break up with me! I usually break up with them! How can this be? What even is this!?"

Danny cringed a bit. "Paulina… I'm sorry, but it… I can't be your boyfriend anymore… but, here, I do still want you to have something out of this."

Danny showed Paulina a box.

"A ring? You sly boy, you were trying to make me think you were dumping me, when really, you were going to propose to me!" Paulina grinned.

"N-no! No, it's not a ring! I'm not proposing!" Danny quickly said before opening up the box. "It's just something to… uh… help you remember me by?"

In the box was a nice gold bracelet, with amethyst gems embedded into it. It was actually Sam's idea to give Paulina something out of this, even if Sam didn't like the girl, she knew how heartbreaking it could be when someone broke up with someone.

"So… do you like it?" Danny asked, hopeful that Paulina would at least be willing to accept this and move on.

Paulina looked at the bracelet, before she glared at Danny. "No! I don't want anything you have to give to me, you heartbreaker! I never want to see you again!"

Paulina got up from the table and started running to the bathroom in tears. The other students who had been watching either glared at Danny, looked at him in shock, or some of them silently cheered that they finally had a chance with Paulina.

Danny flinched a little under the gazes of the other students. Okay… that could have gone better...

"Alright, move it along people, there's nothing to see here!" Sam called out.

"You can stare at Danny another time, or take a picture, it'll last longer," Andy spoke up.

Danny was relieved to see his friends, cousin, and brother ushering the crowd of students away.

"You did the right thing, Danny. Not only was she making you miserable, but she would never be happy if you kept doing whatever she wanted," Patamon said to the guilty boy.

Danny sighed as he stood up. "Yeah… I guess you're right. It's hard… but I think I will get past this." He looked at his partner. "But I feel better already."

"Well, looks like that drama's out of the way," Tucker chuckled sheepishly. "But maybe we should take you home and lay low for a while."

"Yeah, and I have my own 'break up' to do as well," Andy remarked.

Dorimon shivered. "It better not be as ominous as it sounds…"

"Why would you ever say that?" Andy grinned before looking back at the crowd. "Okay, that should be his cue."

After Paulina had ran into the bathroom, Dash suddenly stormed up to them, looking angry. "Hey! I can't believe you let your brother break Paulina's heart!"

"Please don't be mad, Dash, it just didn't work out between them," Andy quickly said, sounding timid and scared.

Dash reached out and grabbed onto Andy's shirt.

"D-don't hurt me, Dash! I thought we were friends!" Andy frantically said as Dash picked him up.

"Not if you or your brother break Paulina's heart!" Dash hissed back.

Andy heard Danny standing up, and he quickly waved his hand at his brother. Takuya, the only other person in the know of Andy's plan, put a hand on Danny's shoulder and whispered something to him. At that, Danny relaxed a little and sat back down.

"If you break Paulina's heart, you are no friend of mine!" Dash declared, looking angry still.

Andy shut his eyes as Dash moved his fist to wail on his face. Dash didn't actually punch Andy's face, but he made it look like he did. His fist just tapped Andy's face lightly, but Andy had to make it look like it hurt like hell. Andy made his body go stiff, and Dash had some ketchup on his fist to make it look like he punched Andy hard enough to cause him to bleed a bit. When Dash pulled his fist away, Andy had the ketchup on his nose, and he had his right eye half close to make it look like he couldn't open it well.

The other students that were watching let out a shocked gasp, though some of the jocks, especially Calvin, were grinning at the 'violence'. After that fake punch, Dash put Andy down. Andy made himself wobble a bit, while Takuya ran up to him to keep him 'stable'.

"That was for breaking Paulina's heart! You're no longer part of the A-List, loser!" Dash said angrily as he pointed a finger at Andy, making sure the other students could hear him.

"D-duly noted…" Andy weakly said, trying not to grin.

Dash then stormed off, still looking angry.

The other students were now whispering to each other about what just happened, while Calvin and the other jocks were giving Dash high fives, though Dash didn't return any of the high fives.

Andy sat down next to Danny before taking a napkin and wiping the ketchup 'bloodstain'. "There, see? Nothing to it."

Danny chuckled. "I thought for sure he would wail on you. Good to see it wasn't the case."

"I think if Dash were to wail on Andy, he'd be waking up to a nightmare…" Takuya mumbled.

"Considering Andy planned this… I wouldn't be surprised," Tucker remarked.

"What? It was just an idea, Dash was willing to work with me," Andy said, not sure why everyone seemed cautious around him for it.

"Andy… you're a scary strategist." Takuya pointed out. "Most of your plans work… very well."

"Come on, I can think of ideas, it doesn't make me a strategist," Andy chuckled. "Besides, it's not like it would've worked if Dash didn't cooperate, and Danny didn't break up with Paulina, and Paulina didn't react the way she did."

"Well, regardless, it looks like your popularity will end with this." Tucker noted with a grin.

Dorimon was grinning. "And this means we can all hang out together again!"

"What about Paulina?" Danny asked in concern.

"Don't worry about her, she'll get over it," Sam assured.

"Right…" Danny sighed as he looked at the bracelet, then closed the box before giving it to Sam. "Here, you were the one who bought it, so you should keep it since Paulina didn't want it."

Sam took the box, a slight blush on her face. "Um… thank you…"

Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Paulina was scowling in one of the stalls.

"Aww, what's the matter, sugar? Did the boy break your heart?" A voice said in Paulina's head.

Shut up! I only went out with him in the first place because you said he hid a mysterious secret that could make me popular forever! And all he did was dump me! Paulina snapped at the voice.

"Well, that isn't right. He should have been happy with you, hon." The voice said in what was a disappointed manner. "You're the queen bee of your school. You should have boys like him groveling over you."

Yes, I know. And yet… he dumped me… I don't understand, why would he dump me? The most popular girl in school? Paulina asked.

Then Paulina frowned when she recalled Danny's twin brother, Andy. Andy never liked her, in fact, they always glared at each other whenever they saw each other. It's his brother! His brother convinced him to dump me!

"That would explain it then, sugar. His brother was jealous of you and his twin together. Your boyfriend's brother wants to destroy his twin's happiness." The voice said. "It's because he can't stand his brother being popular, or being happy."

I can't believe this! My plan to become the most popular girl in the entire school until I graduate… ruined by some stupid, jealous brother! Paulina growled.

"Well, what are you going to do about it then, hmm? After all, you don't have to sit here and take it. You've got me now~" The voice said with a silky tone.

Paulina gave a smirk. I'll make sure he pays for this.

"That's the way to go about it, sugar!" The voice cheered.

And we will strike tonight, when everyone is asleep. Pauline grinned.

"Beautiful and smart, I like you already~" The voice remarked with a grin of its own.

The sun had gone down, it was night. Valerie yawned a bit as she and Gomamon were sitting on top of one of the buildings in Amity Park.

"We've been out here for hours, and still no sign of Ranamon…" Valerie sighed.

"I don't know why I can't seem to sense her… unless she's keeping her presence hidden in a human or something…" Gomamon frowned.

"Then that makes the mission all that much harder!" Valerie groaned. "If this Spirit of Ranamon is indeed possessed by a human, then it is likely we won't be able to find her."

"Hmm… maybe we're just not looking in the right places," Gomamon figured. "Ranamon is the Legendary Warrior of Water. We've been looking around in the city, but not near water."

Valerie perked up. "You think we should look near water? But where? The docks? That's the only place that I can think of that has water nearby."

"Let's at least try it. That is where I first ran into Ranamon after all." Gomamon nodded.

Valerie nodded. "Okay. Let's head to the docks then." She got back onto her hoverboard, making sure Gomamon got on as well before taking off at a steady speed.

"Danny, I am putting my foot down!" Jazz snapped at her little brother.

Danny and Andy were currently in their room. Danny was about to go ghost to go on patrol when Andy and Jazz stopped him.

Patamon, Dorimon, and Lopmon were watching the siblings from Danny's bed.

"Why?" Danny asked. "It's not like I'm gone all night."

"Look at those bags under your eyes," Andy pointed out. "Paulina's been keeping you busy during the day, and you've been patrolling most of the night for ghosts. You've hardly gotten any sleep recently, I'm surprised you haven't passed out yet!"

Danny frowned. "I'm fine, Andy. I swear!" However, a yawn escaped him, his own body betraying him at that moment.

"You're not fine, Danny. Look at yourself, you look like you could barely stand at this point." Jazz frowned. "You need to sleep, and not worry about going on patrol for tonight."

"But who else could go on patrol?" Danny asked, but he was barely awake.

"I can," Andy volunteered. "Dorugamon can fly pretty easily, especially in the night. And unlike you, I've actually gotten good night sleep, so I can afford to patrol around the city while you get some much needed rest. Just because you're half ghost doesn't mean you can ignore your human needs."

Jazz looked at Danny. "And don't forget Takuya can also patrol too. You have to let others take a chance at it as well, Danny. You're not the only one here who can defend the city."

Danny frowned. "But what if you run into trouble? What if you need me?"

Andy and Jazz looked at each other before they nodded and started to lead the sleepy halfa to his bed. Patamon, Dorimon, and Lopmon snickered as they helped put Danny on his bed.

"It's unlikely we would need you, but we'll be sure to wake you if we absolutely have to. Will that make you sleep good tonight?" Andy stated.

Danny frowned, but another yawn escaped him instead of a protest. "As long as you do that… I'm good…" He was not even thinking about what he was saying he was so tired.

With Danny's head already on his soft pillow, his eyes closed, and he was already out like a light. Patamon pulled up Danny's blanket over him.

"Finally he managed to sleep," Andy sighed in relief.

"Aww, he's so cute when he's sleeping," Dorimon gushed.

Jazz snickered at Dorimon's remark. "Yes, he can be. But for now, let's see about getting the patrol over with." She looked at Andy. "Do you think you'll be okay on patrol on your own, Andy? I mean, if needed, I can wake Takuya so he can go with you."

"I'll be fine, Jazz. Takuya looked like he needed the rest too, whatever he went through in the Digital World looked like it took some strain from him," Andy said. "And we'll only be patrolling for an hour or two, I'll still have plenty of time to get a good night sleep before school tomorrow morning."

Jazz sighed. "Okay. That's fine. But if things get really bad, please let me know so I can get Takuya or Danny up."

"I'll be sure to call you on my D-Arc if I need to," Andy reassured. "Don't worry so much, Jazz. I may not be half ghost like Danny, but with Dorugamon with me, we'll be able to take care of ourselves just fine."

"He's right, you know." Dorimon smiled as he hopped onto Andy's head. "It would take a very strong ghost or Digimon to rattle us up."

"And knowing our track record, I'm sure that might happen." Jazz sighed.

"I'll keep my ears open if they do need us," Lopmon promised. "I don't have to sleep as much as you do, especially since I can easily sleep during your school hours."

"I'll keep an eye on Danny to make sure he gets the sleep he needs. But I'll be here in case you do need him too," Patamon informed.

"You see, Jazz? Everything's under control," Andy gestured.

Jazz sighed again. "Okay… You have made your point, Andy."

"Just be sure to let Mom and Dad know we'll be back soon in case they ask," Andy said as he began to walk out of the room. "I'll see you in a couple of hours."

Jazz nodded. "Okay." She watched as Andy closed the door. "I hope Andy will be alright."

"I'm sure he'll be fine. While he may not be half ghost like Danny, he is very tenacious for a human," Lopmon chuckled. "And he's got Dorimon looking after him."

"I guess you're right," Jazz said. But why do I still feel uneasy?

Once Andy had Dorimon digivolve into Dorumon, and then into Dorugamon, Dorugamon flew up into the night sky with Andy on his back.

"Interesting…" A figure said from inside a small puddle on the sidewalk. "So he has a Digimon with him after all. This will be fun~"

The puddle came up suddenly, turning into Ranamon, who gave a sinister grin, showing a bit of her fang.

"Time to get this show on the road~" She giggled menacingly.

Andy and Dorugamon had no idea about Ranamon targeting them. They were just flying casually through the sky, staying above the city to keep people from seeing them so easily.

"You know, it's not very often we get to patrol like this," Andy noted, looking down at the city. "Amity Park looks really good from up here, especially at night."

"It is amazing." Dorugamon agreed. "Seeing human cities at night from the sky is quite a treat. So many lights in such a small area… It's mind-boggling."

"I can see why Danny loves it up here, especially at night. When you're this high up, the light pollution doesn't cover up the stars as much," Andy noted, seeing how much easier it was to see the stars from above the city.

Dorugamon grinned up at Andy. "That's true. And it makes you feel like you're in a different world."

Andy would have to agree, and he turned his head and noticed something. "Hmm? Do you see that? Over there, by the docks."

"Whipping Waves!" A sudden torrent of water came rushing at Andy and Dorugamon, aimed right for them.

Andy and Dorugamon hadn't expected a sudden attack, and were quickly washed away by the water. They were soaked and pushed. Dorugamon ended up hitting the ground, but thankfully he landed on his belly, keeping Andy from crashing into the ground as well. Andy coughed out some water that had gotten into his lungs.

"What- *cough!* was that!?" Andy coughed out.

"Why, it was just little old me, sugar~" A voice sang out as a figure approached Dorugamon. Dorugamon got to his feet, glaring at the approaching form.

"I think we're in trouble, Andy." Dorugamon growled out. "It's Ranamon."

Andy frowned, he hadn't expected to suddenly be attacked by a Legendary Warrior tonight. "What are you doing here? What do you want?"

"Oh, just a little payback~" Ranamon teased, grinning evilly. "And I just want some revenge, hon. Nothing personal~"

"The fact you want revenge IS personal!" Andy pointed out.

Ranamon ignored him and began to create a large cloud. "Draining Rain!"

"Fly Dorugamon!" Andy quickly said, remembering what Draining Rain did.

Dorugamon took flight quickly, flying up and around the rain cloud, circling above it so he was out of its range. "That was close, but I don't think that will deter her for long."

"You're right, sugar~" Ranamon grinned gleefully.

Dorugamon flew back a bit. "Cannonball!"

Dorugamon shot out a large iron ball at Ranamon, who shot up a wall of water, trapping the Cannonball inside it.

"Where are you getting that much water?" Andy frowned.

"Don't you know, hun? The air is full of water. All I have to do is take that water and make it my own~" Ranamon grinned. "You can't escape from water, sugar~"

Dorugamon's eyes went wide. "Oh… and we're near the docks…"

"We need to get far away from the water!" Andy quickly said before he threw a purple glowing grenade at Ranamon.

The grenade exploded into a stick substance, trapping the Warrior of Water. Dorugamon began to fly away quickly. Ranamon gritted her teeth, before she created a dark cloud around her. "Dark Vapor!"

The acidic cloud quickly ate up the sticky substance, freeing Ranamon quickly.

Looking up as Dorugamon flew away, Ranamon frowned before she sneered. "You can't escape me, hon. I will find you no matter where you go~"

"Something's up ahead!" Dorugamon suddenly shouted.

Andy and Dorugamon yelped as Dorugamon tried to stop, and the flying thing that was coming at them was also yelping and trying to stop. The two ended up crashing, and began to fall.

Andy noticed the familiar red suit as they were falling. "Wah!?"

"Andy…?" The red huntress asked in surprise.

"Pull up!" Andy called out.

The red huntress did pull up, just as Dorugamon did the same. The red huntress was kneeling down on her hoverboard, keeping something on the board at the same time.

When the two were able to get stabilized in the air, Andy, Dorugamon, Valerie, and Gomamon were staring at each other. Andy knew about Valerie being the red huntress, though she didn't know that he knew, and she was now seeing him riding on top of a big fox dragon creature.

"You… What…? How are you riding on that fox-creature?" Valerie asked, finally finding her voice.

"That's a Digimon!" Gomamon spoke up, surprising both Dorugamon and Andy. "I see, he must be that boy's partner!"

Dorugamon looked at the red-suited huntress. "You know about Digimon?"

"Wait… when did you have a Digimon?" Andy asked, surprised and confused.

"I saved this one from another Digimon called Ranamon." Valerie clarified. "After that… I was filled in on the history of a whole other world I had no idea existed."

Valerie then shook her head. "Wait a minute, when did you have a Digimon? I didn't know you had a Digimon, and one this big!"

"... Heh, you talk as if you know me," Andy slyly said.

"Hey! I can digivolve you know!" Dorugamon huffed. "I'm normally much smaller, but I'm in my stronger form right now."

"Wait…" Valerie remembered that day Andy came to her apartment, he was holding this 'stuffed animal' along with that flour sack baby. Sometimes she would hear Andy talking to it when she was in the kitchen, he wasn't very good at talking quietly. "Even back then… you had a Digimon…?"

"Oh, so you do know me. Well, I guess it's only fair if I knew you, Ms. Red Huntress," Andy spoke up.

Valerie froze. "You…" She wasn't sure how to respond to that. On one hand, she wanted to keep her huntress identity a secret, but on the other, she didn't want to hide something from Andy. "I'm…"

Gomamon's eyes suddenly widened in alarm. "Ranamon's coming!"

Valerie perked up and gasped. "Move it!"

Dorugamon and Valerie quickly moved, barely avoiding a gush of water that went barreling past them.

"Maybe we'll talk later!" Andy called out to Valerie. "For now, we got an angry water warrior after our butts!"

Valerie frowned. "Why is she after us? It's not like we did anything to her personally is it?"

More water started coming up from the ground, trying to crash into them. Valerie and Dorugamon had to take evasive maneuvers. Valerie was really glad she had been practicing using her hoverboard, otherwise she would have fallen off ten times over by now.

Dorugamon had to do several rolls and loops in the air to avoid the water, which made him glad he could fly at the moment. "You okay back there, Andy?"

"Yeah… just… really glad… I don't have motion sickness…" Andy groaned a little. Okay, maybe I do a little. There's a reason why I hate rollercoasters...

Dorugamon did another loop. "Well, hang on, because we have more evasion to do yet!"

This suuuuuucks! Andy moaned as Dorugamon began to do more rolls and flips.

"We need to get away from the water!" Valerie called out.

"No duh!" Dorugamon snapped before he began to fly away from the water, and the docks.

One of the gushers of water slammed into Dorugamon's back, sending him towards a tall building.

Andy's eyes widened. "HOSPITAL!"

The people that were in the top floor of Amity's hospital noticed something flying towards the window.

"What's that?"

"Whatever it is, it's coming right for us!"

"Evacuate the patients!"

Upon hearing Andy's words, Dorugamon flared his wings and flew up, barely avoiding slamming into the hospital's top floor. However, it didn't stop him from completely crashing into the wall.

"Are you okay?" Valerie asked as she flew over to them.

"Dorugamon might be a bit sore…" Andy sheepishly answered.

"A bit!?" Dorugamon groaned before he crawled up to the roof of the hospital. "You try smashing into a freaking building."

Valerie winced. "That… Ouch…"

"Hey, maybe if we go inside the building, it'll weaken Ranamon," Gomamon suggested.

Valerie frowned. "But there are injured humans in this place. We can't risk them getting hurt."

"I'm coming for you~" They heard Ranamon's voice teasing.

"If we stay here any longer, she might try to drown the hospital," Andy spoke up. "Come on."

Dorugamon degenerated into Dorumon. "Sorry… too weak to stay in my Champion form."

Valerie frowned beneath her hood at seeing this and hearing Dorumon's words. "So much for that idea… We need a new one."

"Dorumon should be able to digivolve again if we can get him something to eat," Andy spoke up. "Come on, we better hurry."

Andy and Dorumon ran to the nearest door that led them to the stairs, going down into the hospital. Gomamon frowned as she looked up, seeing Ranamon disappeared from the sky.

"That's odd… why did Ranamon-" Gomamon began to ask, before she and Valerie saw the Warrior of Water standing in front of the door.

"Oh, no, no, no, you naughty boys, you're not getting away from me that easily~" Ranamon grinned, not paying any attention to Valerie or Gomamon.

Ranamon's body melted into water and slithered under the crack of the door.

Gomamon frowned. "... Ranamon isn't after us…"

Valerie began to pale from under her hood. "She's after Andy…"

Gomamon looked at Valerie. "We have to stop her!"

Valerie didn't need to be told twice. She deactivated her hoverboard that folded itself into her shoes, before she and Gomamon quickly ran to the stairs.

While Andy and Dorumon were running down the stairs, Andy was pulling out his D-Arc. He knew he needed to call someone. He and Dorumon couldn't possibly handle Ranamon on their own.

"Jazz, come on, pick up!" Andy hissed.

"Andy! Why does the floor feel all wet and slippery?" Dorumon asked in alarm.

Andy gasped, seeing the stairs were starting to fill up with water.

"Hospitals have a lot of water running through their building, sugar~" Ranamon's voice giggled.

"Quick, this way!" Andy opened up the nearest door before he and Dorumon ran through it.

There were a few nurses walking about, and were surprised to see this boy and this fox creature running beside him, running through the hallways of the hospital, especially since visiting hours were closed.

Dorumon looked back. "She's still on our tail! We need to find a way to lose her!"

"Yeah, great plan!" Andy grumbled.

The nurses were shocked at the sudden flooding of water, and were worried if there was some kind of bad leakage somewhere. None of them were aware of the water warrior coming after the poor boy.

Dorumon growled to himself. "It seems water is everywhere for her to use! And we can't fly to a desert, so what can we do?"

"Don't panic," Andy looked around and ran up to the nearest nurse. "Hey, excuse me!"

"What are you doing here, young man? Visiting hours are over!" The nurse frowned.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll go home, but I need some food first. Where's the cafeteria?" Andy quickly asked.

The nurse blinked. "Why would you…" She shook her head. "Never mind. The cafeteria is near the lobby. Also, is that a dog with you? Pets aren't allowed-"

"Thanks, bye!" Andy quickly said before he and Dorumon quickly took off.

"Hey! I'm not finished with you-" The nurse began to speak up before her legs suddenly had water. She looked down and gasped in alarm at all the water that suddenly came through.

"We have to get out of here, Ranamon's going to put everyone in danger." Andy gritted his teeth before they came up to the elevators. "This… is a bad idea, but I don't think we have time to find the stairs."

The boy pushed the down arrow button on the elevator and began to tap his foot while waiting. "Come on, come on…"

Water started to flood around Andy and Dorumon's feet. They let out a gasp, and were ready to start running again.

Suddenly, the elevator dinged a few moments later and the doors opened up, allowing Andy and Dorumon to run inside. Some of the water came in as well.

"You think you can escape!?" Ranamon glared, coming up from the water just outside the elevator.

In the shadows, Ranamon looked a lot creepier, only her red eyes glowing a bit.

"Close the door!" Dorumon shouted frantically.

"I'm trying!" Andy was tapping on the button of the elevator to get the doors to close.

The doors closed, finally shutting Ranamon out.

"Hit the up button!" Dorumon exclaimed.

"Up? I thought we were going down!" Andy frowned.

"Then hit the down button!" Dorumon groaned.

"I already did!" Andy pointed out, showing the lighten up button.

Both of them took a deep breath to try to calm down. Andy hadn't felt this helpless in a situation in a while, he usually had his brother or friends backing him up. But he felt alone and trapped. He was stuck in an elevator with a water monster coming after him, and his Digimon was weakened. This was not good for either of them. Jazz wasn't picking up her D-Arc either.

Dorumon nudged Andy. "Are you okay, Andy?"

"Yeah… yeah, just…" Andy let out a sigh. "I was hoping for a nice, quiet patrol night. And now we're trying to get away from some crazy water spirit trying to drown us."

"Makes you wonder how Danny handles his patrols when they go down the gutter like this." Dorumon chuckled.

"He says he could usually handle himself, since he's pretty good at sucking ghosts in the Fenton Thermos. And he usually has Takuya to help him against other Digimon," Andy sighed. "I'm sure he could easily handle this. I mean think about it; if he were in our situation, he wouldn't need the stairs, or the elevator, he could just easily phase through the floor or ceiling or wall, go where he needs to go in an instant, grab some food, then come back out to say a witty banter to Ranamon in a span of two seconds."

"Well, you're not Danny, but you are creative and can handle yourself as well." Dorumon pointed out.

"But we're putting these people in danger here. Ranamon could be drowning them for all we know." Andy frowned. "Maybe Vlad was right… maybe halfas really are the better beings…"

Dorumon slapped Andy with his tail. "No! Do not go down that rabbit hole!" He snapped. "We need a lucid Andy, not a mopey Andy! You're not half ghost, but that doesn't mean you're powerless! Ranamon is only after us, not these people in the hospital. They'll be fine, but only if you get yourself together!"

Andy sighed, but nodded. "You're right, Dorumon. No matter how much I regret it, moping about it isn't going to help us now. Let's get you some food, digivolve you, and get out of here so we can fight Ranamon in a less dangerous place."

Dorumon nodded. "Right." He grinned.

"Mom, Dad, how much longer do I have to stay here?" Jazz groaned.

Jazz was currently sitting in the living room's armchair with some kind of helmet on her head. Lopmon was sitting on her lap with a smaller helmet on his head.

"Just until we're sure the Fenton Mind Link works, sweetie," Maddie said.

"With this, you and your partner will be able to link your minds up, and then you'll be able to know what the other is thinking. And then you might even become unstoppable!" Jack grinned.

Lopmon looked unsure. "I'm not sure it works like that…" He muttered.

"Don't worry, it's not going to hurt. The worst thing that can happen is that you both end up falling asleep for a few hours," Maddie reassured them.

"I hope that's the case…" Lopmon said.

"I can't believe I let you two talk me into this," Jazz groaned.

Jazz's D-Arc was on the coffee table. It vibrated, but it went completely unnoticed by anyone.

Tucker was laughing as he and Terriermon were gaming with each other. "That's it! You found the ultimate secret boss!"

Terriermon grinned. "Awesome! Time to put the hurt on these pixel monsters!" He was using his ears and hands to press and use the controller he was holding.

Then Tucker's phone rang. He picked it up. "Hello? … Oh, hi Niki! Yes, don't worry, we're still on for our date tomorrow night. … No, I won't stay up playing games all night again. It only happened twice… Wow… sixteen times? You actually kept track? … Oh, no, I promise this time I won't be too tired for our date!"

"Tucker! Focus! This guy is going to beat us!" Terriermon frowned, rapidly pressing buttons with his ears.

Tucker looked back at Terriermon and mouthed 'It's Niki' to him before resuming his phone call. "Okay... Yeah, I'll get some sleep after I beat this boss. Okay… I'll see you tomorrow."

"Finally! Jeez, you always get distracted with your girlfriend at the most inopportune times!" Terriermon grumbled.

The D-Arc on Tucker's table vibrated, but went completely unnoticed.

Sam was not happy right now. Her parents had taken her to a stuffy business party, and she wasn't allowed to get out of it this time. Thankfully, she could carry Gatomon with her, apparently her 'stuffed kitten' was deemed cute and worthy enough to be brought to the party.

"I hate coming to these meetings…" Sam grumbled to Gatomon.

"Just try to keep on a polite attitude, and it'll be over before you know it," Gatomon whispered. "As a Celestial Digimon, I had to attend a lot of these types of meetings and parties myself. It was never fun, I loved it when Cherubimon made his own chaos during those meetings. Though Seraphimon never approved, even though I think he secretly welcomed it."

Sam snickered. "Wow… So even Celestial Angel Digimon can get bored and make mischief."

"Considering we had to go through for hundreds of years, yeah, a little bit of chaos is always welcomed," Gatomon chuckled.

"I hope my parents won't mind a bit of that if it happens here." Sam mused. "It would certainly make things easier for me."

"Oh?~ Would you prefer spilled juice on someone important, or tripping a business man and have him fall on someone else's wife?" Gatomon smirked.

Sam almost busted out laughing, only to regain control of her emotions. "I think we should see what plays out."

Gatomon grinned. "This Tail Ring I have on my tail, I can control where it goes, just saying~"

Sam grinned back. "Then let's see if a bit of mischief can be made~"

Sam was so focused on what kind of prank she could do with Gatomon that the vibration of her D-Arc in her purse was left unnoticed.

Patamon was getting sleepy, but he didn't want to fall asleep just yet. He did become more awake, however, when he heard Danny moaning a bit in his sleep. Patamon quickly flew closer to his partner. Danny was still asleep, but he appeared to be uneasy.

The Celestial Digimon wasn't sure if he should wake Danny or not. But considering Danny was tired and all, Patamon was more inclined to let Danny sleep.

Patamon whispered into Danny's ear. "Shhh, just sleep, Danny, just dream. It's only a nightmare, just relax, and just sleep."

At Patamon's words, Danny seemed to relax. Although he looked a bit uneasy still, it was not as bad as before, and he fell into a calmer sleep. Patamon sighed in relief, but now he was getting worried. There weren't any ghosts nearby, and Danny wasn't one to usually have nightmares. Patamon wondered if something was going on with Andy that was causing Danny's unease, but surely Andy would call his friends and sister if something was happening… right?

In his room, Takuya was also asleep, mumbling about a few things. He turned over, curling under the blankets, trying to get warm. "...Warm… Comfy…"

On his desk, his D-Tector vibrated, but it went unnoticed, as he was too deep in sleep.

Andy growled as he turned off his D-Arc. "Nobody's answering! What are they doing?"

"I don't know, but we have more important things to worry about right now." Dorumon said before the elevator dinged, showing they had reached the lobby floor.

"We better make a run for it as soon as the doors open," Andy said to Dorumon.

Dorumon nodded.

The doors began to open, and water started to flood in. Andy and Dorumon quickly jumped out before it got too flooded and started running through the lobby, trying to find the cafeteria. People were running out, screaming in panic at all the water flooding the area.

Of all the times for nobody to answer my calls! Andy grumbled to himself.

A big geyser of water came up in front of Andy and Dorumon, stopping them in their tracks. Ranamon sat on top of the geyser, grinning down at them.

"Uh oh…" Dorumon backed up a bit. "She's really good at catching up to us…"

"What is your problem with me, lady!?" Andy snapped, having lost most of his patience.

"What is my problem? You know, sugar. You had your brother break up with the most popular girl in school." Ranamon replied before she sneered at Andy. "And some payback is in order for that."

"What? Why would you care about-" Andy stopped when he realized something.

Ranamon was only the Spirit of the Legendary Warrior, just like Takuya's Spirits were. Ranamon couldn't be acting on her own, someone had to be using her power. And the fact that she was after Andy because she thinks he was responsible for Danny breaking up with Paulina…

"Paulina!?" Andy called out in shock.

Ranamon gave a smirk. "Surprised? She wanted some payback, so I just thought I would help her out~"

Then Ranamon's voice changed, sounding more like Paulina. "And I will be sure to give you the payback you deserve."

"Paulina! You don't understand, I had nothing to do with Danny breaking up with you!" Andy quickly said as water started to rise again.

"Oh, please! Danny would never break up with me! I am the one to do the breaking up around here, not the boy!" Ranamon, or Paulina, snapped back.

"But-" Andy started to argue.

"Dark Vapor!" Ranamon began creating black acidic cloud around Andy and Dorumon.

"This girl is crazy!" Dorumon growled.

"Tell me something I don't know!" Andy frowned as they were surrounded by the Dark Vapor cloud.

They both shut their eyes as the clouds began to envelope them.

"Marching Fishes!"

Suddenly, colorful fishes came up from the water, and carried Andy and Dorumon away from the Dark Vapor before it could do any real damage to them.

Dorumon looked up, surprised. "Eh? Where did these fish come from?"

"What's that?" Ranamon looked just as confused, before more fishes came up from the water all of a sudden, and began to tackle or bite her.

"Andy!" A familiar voice called out as a red-suited huntress on her hoverboard came flying down the hall towards Andy and Dorumon. "Are you okay!?"

"Soaked… but I'll live," Andy answered.

Valerie dug something from her pocket and tossed Dorumon an apple. "Here, I managed to grab this. I hope it'll be enough."

Dorumon caught the apple in his mouth and began to chow down on it. All that was left in seconds was the core, or more like the seeds instead. "Thanks." He said before he burped.

"Oh! You little devils! You're so not getting away with this!" Ranamon snapped, getting frustrated with the fish.

"I don't think my fishes will keep her at bay for much longer." Gomamon frowned.

"Draining Rain!" Ranamon created a rain cloud over the area.

Andy noticed a clipboard with a pen and paper, likely for some patience to sign into the hospital. It wasn't wet yet thankfully, because it was on a counter. The boy ran over to the clipboard, grabbed the pen, and tore off a piece of paper and began to write something on it quickly.

"Dorumon, give me one of your iron balls!" Andy called out urgently.

Dorumon nodded and spat out an iron ball before nudging it towards Andy. "Here!"

From above the two, Valerie watched this with interest. What is Andy doing?

Andy grabbed some tape that was on the desk to stick the piece of paper on the iron ball. "Put it in your mouth and spit it out at Ranamon."

Dorumon nodded and took the iron ball back into his mouth before he then faced Ranamon and spat the ball out at her as quickly and as hard as he could.

"Hah! As if a stupid little ball could scare me!" Ranamon laughed.

As soon as the iron ball touched the geyser Ranamon was on, it suddenly exploded in a huge heatwave, causing all the water to steam up. Ranamon let out a scream as her skin was burning from it, and she flung herself outside.

Valerie was staring in surprise at what Andy had done "That was… What did Andy do?"

Andy, Dorumon, and Gomamon were coughing a bit from the steam and the hotness of the temperature.

"Re-wrote Dorumon's Metal Cannon attack… had it set to explode with an immense heatwave…" Andy answered, coughing a bit.

Valerie blinked. "Wow… I didn't know you could do that." She then shook her head. "C'mon. We have some time to get away now."

"You and Gomamon go on ahead, I need to get more food for Dorumon," Andy said. "Well be out in a second."

"Fine, but hurry!" Valerie called.

Andy and Dorumon rushed to the cafeteria. With the place evacuated, it was easy for Dorumon to grab all the food in the kitchen.

"Better eat fast, I don't know when Ranamon will recover enough to strike again," Andy urgently said.

Dorumon nodded and began to chow down on the food that was out. He ate and ate until finally, the food that had been set out was all gone. Dorumon belched loudly before he grimaced a bit. "I don't think I like the taste of hospital food…"

"It's health food," Andy chuckled. "Now come on!"

The two of them hurried to the exit. They noticed Valerie and Gomamon standing there, looking rather horrified at something.

"What's wrong? We need to get going," Andy asked as he walked forward.

Suddenly, Andy could see why Valerie and Gomamon were horrified. Andy's own eyes widened in horror as well. Normally, this wouldn't be a cause for such alarm, it would be an inconvenience at most for most people. However, considering their circumstances, it was probably the worst thing in the world for them.

"It's… raining…" Andy whispered as he began to pale.

Ranamon's voice began to laugh and echo through the city. "I told you before; you can't escape water~"

"This is not our day…" Dorumon grumbled as Valerie frowned.

"I agree with the fox-dragon. This can't get any worse…" Valerie murmured.

"Never say that, never say it can't get any worse," Andy hissed.

Suddenly, Ranamon appeared before them, grinning.

"Oh, you have no idea how right you are~" Ranamon sang evilly. "This lovely rain… I can feel it charging up my Beast Spirit!"

"Beast Spirit?" Valerie questioned.

"Oh… oh no…" Andy paled.

"I… may have forgotten to mention…" Gomamon sheepishly brought up. "Each Legendary Warrior has a Human Spirit, and a Beast Spirit… Beast Spirits tend to have a lot more… raw power than the Human Spirits do."

Valerie paled beneath her hood. "Oh… crap… How can we stop a Beast Spirit?!"

"Let me answer that for you~" Ranamon grinned as fractal code began to surround her. "The answer is; you can't!"

"Ranamon slide evolution! Calmaramon!"

In Ranamon's place was a giant squid-like Digimon. The upper half was humanoid with pale skin and red eyes, and purple hair. Her hands had claws and her lower body was the upper half of a giant squid. It had tentacles like a squid too. The tentacles had spikes on the feet in place of suction cups, and the Digimon's ears were pointed.

Valerie gulped at seeing the Digimon. "Uh oh…"

Dorumon looked at the Digimon and his forehead gem glowed red. Andy took out his D-Arc, which was the first time Valerie saw it. A holographic version of the Digimon appeared on the D-Arc's screen.

"Calmaramon is an Aquatic Digimon. It possesses power over Water which bears the might of AncientMermaidmon. It has a half-human, half-beast appearance, and its tentacles are used for offense and defense, doing things like attacking the enemy by rapidly spinning them, or guarding its body by converging them to form a wall. She's a hybrid level, and her attribute is variable." Andy read.

"Hybrid level? What does that mean?" Valerie questioned.

"It means she's strong, and we have no idea how strong," Andy grumbled.

Dorumon growled. "It's a running theme for the Legendary Warriors. Each of their forms is hybrid level."

Calmaramon grinned as she began to use her tentacles to approach them like feet.

"We better do something! She's coming right for us!" Gomamon called out.

"We need to get back into the sky," Andy said. "Dorumon, time to digivolve!"

Andy held the D-Arc out to his partner. Valerie watched curiously. The D-Arc began to glow , as did Dorumon. "Dorumon digivolve to…" Dorumon was surrounded by fractal code as he felt the energy of Andy's will fill him. His skin began to peel away from his face and head, then his stomach and his tail was last to lose the skin. But as he regained his skin, his claws and legs came back first, then his wings came back with skin, flaring open to reveal their larger size, his tail swung around once as it regained the skin, and then his head and face were last to regain their skin. "Dorugamon!"

"Whoa!" Valerie stepped back in shock. "You got… big again!"

"That's how digivolutions tend to work," Gomamon chuckled.

Dorugamon looked at Calmaramon with a glare. "Now we can finish what we started." He hissed.

Calmaramon just laughed. "You honestly think you're a match for me in my element!?"

Andy got onto Dorugamon's back. Gomamon had to tap Valerie's leg with her claw a bit to get her to snap out of it. Valerie quickly recomposed herself and reactivated her hoverboard, which Gomamon quickly jumped onto. Dorugamon and Valerie quickly flew up.

"That's cute~" Calmaramon snickered.

The rain, somehow, started getting heavier on them, making it harder for them to fly.

"I control water, you will never be able to escape from me!" Calmaramon laughed.

"She's right…" Dorugamon growled. Then, an idea hit him. "But what if we didn't run? She may be stronger, but she is still a Spirit. If we can knock her fractal code out, we could take the Spirit!"

"That might be easier said than done." Andy frowned. "But at this point, we may not have a choice."

"Hey, how do you think ghost weapons affect Digimon?" Valerie asked suddenly, looking down at her hoverboard and huntress suit.

"It won't hurt them that much," Andy answered. "But it can still be used to attack them."

Andy took out his Fenton Rod from his pocket, which was a small baton, until he extended it.

Valerie smirked a bit. "So we can still do some damage, just not as much when compared to ghosts."

"We better do something soon, Calmaramon's coming in!" Gomamon called out in alarm.

Calmaramon's tentacle extended and grabbed onto Dorugamon. Valerie reacted by summoning her bazooka and firing at Calmaramon's tentacle. Dorugamon helped by biting down on the tentacle as well. Calmaramon screeched out in anger and pain, she let go of Dorugamon, but she did slam the tentacle down, hitting Dorugamon right into Valerie.

Valerie cried out as she was knocked off her hoverboard. "WAH!"

Valerie was about to hit the pavement below. Gomamon took a deep breath and blew out a big bubble surrounding them. "Bubble Deflector!"

They bounced a bit on the pavement, but were otherwise unharmed.

Dorugamon managed to get back into the air.

"V- Red Huntress! Are you okay!?" Andy called out in concern, almost calling out Valerie's name.

"If I were you, I wouldn't worry about them!" Calmaramon smirked as she took a deep breath. "Acid Ink!"

Calmaramon shot out black, acidic ink at Andy and Dorugamon. Dorugamon flew back, dodging it, though the road that the ink splattered onto dissolved rather quickly, leaving a bit hole. Andy paled and gritted his teeth, he was not going to be happy if they ended up getting hit by that.

Dorugamon flew around behind Calmaramon, readying for another attack. At the same time, Valerie gulped at seeing the Acid Ink attack eating away at the road.

Valerie pushed herself up. She fired another ghost weapon at Calmaramon, but all that seemed to do was mildly irritate her.

"Gomamon, I'm not sure what to do. I can fight and hunt ghosts, but Digimon? I don't have the equipment for it." Valerie frowned. "And Andy needs help, he and his Digimon can't fight this… this… ugly thing alone!"

Gomamon looked at Valerie. "Well, what do you think we should do? I am just a Rookie-level Digimon, but I am willing to fight back if you are."

Dorugamon managed to get in close to Calmaramon, and Andy swung his Fenton Rod at her face. Though this didn't deter Calmaramon much. She just grinned as she summoned water from the rain and began to trap Andy and Dorugamon in it, making them unable to breathe.

"It is just delicious to watch you drown and suck the life out of you!" Calmaramon grinned.

Andy and Dorugamon were struggling to breathe, to move, to escape.

Back at Fenton Works, Danny gritted his teeth as his eyes were shut tightly, his hands were gripping onto his blanket tightly, his knuckles were almost white. There was a green glow behind Danny's eyelids.

Valerie knew she had to do something, or Andy would drown. "I don't care anymore, we have to fight back now!"

Gomamon stood up straight. "I will try to save them! Marching Fishes!"

Colorful fish began to appear inside the water, they were trying to push Andy and Dorugamon out of Calmaramon's water trap.

Valerie aimed her hoverboard's missiles at Calmaramon. "These may be more effective against ghosts, but the sheer force of the explosions should provide a distraction…" She murmured before firing the two missiles at the Beast Warrior of Water.

The missiles exploded, which actually did hurt Calmaramon. She let out a loud growl. "Oh how dare you mess up my beautiful face, honey! I should pay you back tenfold for that!"

Valerie gulped. "Crap…" However, her plan had worked. She had the attention of Calmaramon instead of her being focused on Andy. Valerie recompsed herself with a shake of her hooded head. "Let's see if you can catch me then!" She turned and engaged her hoverboard's engines to maximum thrust and took off.

"You think you can run from me!?" Calmaramon jumped up into the air, and twisted her lower body. "Titanic Tempest!"

Calmaramon began to spin around like a drill, flying after Valerie at surprising speed. Gomamon managed to get the fishes to push Andy and Dorugamon out of the water, allowing them to choke out the water in their lungs and breathe in the air.

Valerie didn't look back, keeping her mind on distracting Calmaramon. "Hang on, Gomamon! I'm going to do some evasive maneuvers!"

Gomamon yelped as she held onto the board with her claws before the hoverboard began to flip around in loops.

Andy and Dorugamon were trying to catch their breath, seeing Valerie was trying to dodge Calmaramon's spinning attack.

"Gotta admit… your girlfriend is quite brave…" Dorugamon chuckled.

"She's not… my girlfriend…" Andy grumbled. "We also… need a better plan… I'd rather… not drown, thank you…"

Dorugamon nodded.

Back at Fenton Works, Danny calmed down, but still looked uneasy. Patamon brought in Jazz and Lopmon after being so worried.

"He's been on and off, looking like he was about to transform in his sleep, then he would calm down a little before he goes off again," Patamon said in worry.

"It sounds like Andy may be in trouble…" Jazz noted. "I mean, Danny is his twin, so it makes sense Danny would sense if Andy was in danger."

"But Andy hasn't called." Lopmon frowned.

Jazz then paled when she realized she had been a bit busy with her parents. She quickly dug into her pocket to take the D-Arc out, and saw there had been… multiple messages from Andy. Many of them consisted of him screaming out for help, and what the hell she and the others were doing.

"Oh… Oh no…" Jazz gulped. "I think… Andy may be in trouble…"

Patamon paled as well. "Should I wake Danny up?"

Jazz looked at Danny's sleeping form. "I don't know… I want him to sleep, but… if Andy is in trouble…" She frowned, torn on the issue.

"We can't hesitate, if Andy is indeed in danger, then Danny will want to help," Lopmon stated.

Jazz sighed. "Okay… I will probably hate myself for this, but I will wake Danny."

Dorugamon, though soaked, was flying towards Valerie with Andy on his back. Dorugamon was getting tired, although he managed to get some food in him, his energy was still low, and getting lower as the battle raged on.

"Come on, Dorugamon, we can do this!" Andy called out.

Dorugamon began diving towards Calmaramon while her attention was on Valerie. "Cannonball!"

Dorugamon shot out a giant iron ball at the spinning Calmaramon. The force was more than enough to send Calmaramon straight into the ground. Andy realized that they were back at the docks.

"Are you okay?" Andy called out to Valerie.

"I should be asking you that! You almost drowned back there!" Valerie shouted.

"We can argue later!" Gomamon spoke up. "We have a Warrior of Water to defeat, remember?"

"You are so dead!" Calmaramon screamed before her huge tentacles suddenly sprang up from the ground.

This happened so suddenly that Dorugamon and Valerie didn't have time to react before they were slammed by the tentacles and fell straight into the ocean. Valerie's hoverboard immediately folded itself back into her shoes when they hit water. Gomamon, being an aquatic Digimon herself, quickly blew bubbles at Valerie, Andy, and Dorugamon's heads to keep them from drowning.

As soon as the bubbles hit their heads, the threesome were able to breathe, giving them all a reprieve from the grimey deep. Valerie coughed water out from her lungs, but her hood got wet from the effort.

"How many times have I almost drowned tonight?" Andy grumbled.

"Enough…" Dorugamon grumbled before he degenerated back into Dorumon. "Ugh… I feel so… tired…"

Valerie swam over to Dorumon and grabbed him to keep him from sinking lower in the water. "You did what you could." She assured him.

Andy couldn't help but smile a little, seeing how Valerie cared for Dorumon, but this did put them in a tight spot. They were underwater with Calmaramon, and Dorumon was too tired to digivolve anymore.

"Hey, look," Gomamon spoke up, looking down at something.

Andy, Valerie, and Dorumon looked over in Gomamon's direction to see what was so fascinating. And then they saw it; a city underwater.

Valerie blinked. "What the…? How is there a whole city underwater?!"

"How has nobody seen this before?" Andy questioned.

"Are the buildings… empty? Does anyone live there?" Dorumon asked as well.

"It's a mystery, huh? This was the city I told you about," Gomamon said to Valerie. "The one that I was exploring in the Digital World before I was brought here."

Valerie blinked before looking back at the city herself. "Then… could we use this somehow to beat that ugly Beast of Water?"

"Little pigs, little pigs, where are you?~" Calmaramon teased as she began swimming by.

The city suddenly disappeared as Calmaramon came close.

"It… vanished?" Andy blinked.

But they didn't have time to worry about the strange underwater city, Calmaramon was about to attack. "I'm surprised you're all still alive. Well, not for much longer~"

Valerie looked back in anger at Calmaramon. "We're in her element, and we have to get out somehow."

"I'm afraid it's too late for that~" Calmaramon began to laugh as whirlpools began to form around them.

Andy, Dorumon, Valerie, and Gomamon were caught up in the whirlpools, spinning around and around, unable to escape. Their bubbles were going to pop soon, and they would drown for sure.

"Marching Fishes!" Gomamon called out desperately.

Colorful fishes began to attack Calmaramon, or more like trying to chip away at her. She just growled in annoyance.

Valerie looked at Gomamon in worry. "Gomamon… are you sure you want to keep this up? You're not strong enough!"

"I have to! You'll all drown if I don't!" Gomamon called back.

Valerie looked at Gomamon in a bit of awe and worry. She then clenched a fist. "Then let me help!" She said seriously.

"What can you do?" Gomamon asked, her energy starting to dwindle, and her fishes weakening.

"I will think of something, but I won't let you handle this beast alone!" Valerie resolved.

"Valerie…" Andy spoke up as they were spinning in the whirlpool.

Valerie gasped, she hadn't expected Andy to know who she was.

"You trust Gomamon, right?" Andy asked, not giving her time to question how he knew her.

Valerie looked at Gomamon and back at Andy. Then, she nodded. "I do. She's been doing her best to help us, and I trust her because of what she has been doing."

"Okay… then do you trust me as well?" Andy asked.

Valerie nodded. She was unsure about this, but she did trust Andy since he seemed to know more about what was going on than she did. "I do, Andy."

Andy managed to grab onto Dorumon and hold him close to his chest. "Take Gomamon, she will likely become your partner… and we may get help after all."

Andy closed his eyes for a moment. I really wish it didn't come to this...

Valerie grabbed Gomamon and held her close to her own chest. I hope you know what you're doing, Andy...

Gomamon looked back at Valerie. "Heroes don't give up until the end, right?"

Valerie nodded. "Yeah… They don't quit until it's truly over." She gave a wry smile to the seal Digimon.

"Then… I won't either," Gomamon said.

The red seashell on Gomamon's neck suddenly glowed brightly. The strap broke off of Gomamon's neck before it shifted and changed, turning into a familiar looking device. The body of the device was a smooth gold yellow color with a red screen outline, buttons, and matching strap.

Andy opened his eyes and called out. "DANNY! WHERE ARE YOU!?"

Before Jazz could do anything, Danny's eyes shot open, and they were glowing green. Before anyone could say anything, Danny was suddenly on his feet, a bright ring appeared on his torso and he transformed into his ghost form in almost record time. Danny shot out through the house like a bullet.

"Okay…? That was… weird…" Jazz said, looking shocked and worried.

"No…" Patamon looked at the wall Danny just flew through. "He must've heard Andy's call for help."

Jazz blinked. "Then Andy is in trouble!" She realized. "I hope Danny can make it there in time…"

"We all do." Lopmon frowned. "It had to be bad if Andy had to wake Danny up."

Danny was flying through Amity Park with tunnel vision. He didn't know how, but he heard Andy calling out to him, he needed him. Hold on, Andy! I'm coming!

Danny was flying straight to the docks, he could feel Andy was over there. Looking down, he saw a big whirlpool, and something glowing under there. Not hesitating one bit, Danny dove down into the whirlpool.

"ANDY!?" Danny called out as he sped towards where the glow was.

Danny's eyes widened when he saw Andy clutching to Dorumon, their bubble helmets popped. Valerie in her red huntress suit was clutching onto another Digimon and a device that was the source of the glow. They were drowning.

Danny flew over to the foursome, grabbing onto Andy before he grabbed Valerie's arm as well. He turned them all intangible and flew them out of the whirlpool and back to shore.

As soon as they were back on shore, Danny put them down carefully. They began to choke out the water in their lungs. Danny, worriedly, rubbed both Andy and Valerie's backs. Though Danny had to pull Valerie's hood off so she could properly eject the water from her lungs.

Valerie coughed the water out of her lungs and panted heavily. "Ugh… Now I know how a drowning victim feels…"

Dorumon groaned as he finished coughing water out of his lungs. "Agh… I think I swallowed a fish…"

"We're… alive," Gomamon noted.

Andy panted, glad to finally get some air back in his lungs. He noticed a slight glow behind them, and he knew that his call had worked. It would have been too big of a gamble to rely on the small chance that Gomamon would've digivolved when she and Valerie became partners, so calling for Danny was the next best thing he could've done, even though he wished he could've let his brother sleep in peace tonight.

Valerie finally pulled Gomamon away from her chest, noticing the glowing device in her hand. She gaped at it, realizing it was the same kind of device that Andy had taken out earlier. "W-wha… What is this?"

"Looks like you got your own D-Arc. Heh, congrats, that means you and Gomamon had officially become partners," Andy chuckled.

"Are you all okay?" Danny asked in concern.

Valerie's eyes widened as she turned to the ghost boy who had ruined her life, or at least, the ghost boy who was there when everything went downhill for her. Despite her talk with Andy, she had been training on pure hatred for the ghost boy, and it wasn't easy to see him as anyone but that ghost who ruined her life.

As much as she wanted to just blast the ghost boy, Valerie held herself back. The ghost boy had saved her life, so she owed it to the ghost to not blast him on sight. "So… you returned, ghost boy…"

"Yeah… I, uh… noticed something going on with the water, and went to check it out. It's a good thing I did, you almost drowned." Danny frowned.

"Thanks… for saving us," Andy spoke up.

Danny gave a sheepish grin. "I wasn't about to let you drown."

Valerie kept her mouth shut, as she didn't trust her brain to not spew something hateful towards the ghost boy. It wasn't nice to insult the one who saved her life after all. And she was starting to see what Andy meant before, the ghost boy did appear to be… almost more human-like than any other ghost she had seen.

"I… hate to ruin the moment…" Dorumon spoke up. "But we're not out of the woods yet…"

And Dorumon was right, because as soon as he said that, Calmaramon came up from the water, growling. "Who ruined my plans now!? I almost had them!"

Calmaramon then noticed Danny Phantom standing there. "The ghost boy? … Invisobill?"

Despite herself, Valerie snorted. "Invisobill?"

Danny blushed. "It's not Invisobill!" He exclaimed, just as Gomamon snickered at the name. "That's just what the public decided to call me."

"Well, whatever you're called, you're still just the ghost boy to me," Valerie huffed, remembering that she was supposed to be mad at him.

"He just saved your life, Valerie, give him a break," Andy grumbled.

Valerie growled. "That is true…" She admitted. "But don't think I will just trust you blindly just because you saved my life. It will take more than that to get me to give you the benefit of the doubt."

"Are you all ignoring me!?" Calmaramon snapped, getting angry.

"We better think of something, before Calmaramon decides to attack." Gomamon frowned.

Valerie sighed. "Yeah, we should. But what can we do? I mean, we humans can't fight a Beast Spirit, and I'm sure your Digimon partner can't reach his higher level for a while."

"The battle wouldn't be so difficult if we weren't near so much water, and the rain." Andy frowned before he looked at Danny. "It would be easier if we could just go in and snatch one of her spirits away to weaken her."

Danny frowned. "We could, but the Spirits are a defense against ghosts, in case you forgot."

"Maybe not necessarily," Gomamon spoke up. "According to Bokomon's book, a Spirit can't defend themselves if their fractal codes are showing. If we could just weaken her enough to get her fractal code to show, then one of us should be able to snatch away her Spirit."

"But how can we do that?" Valerie asked. "All this water and rain is making it harder to draw out this code, not to mention boosting her power."

"She has to have a weakness we can exploit." Dorumon frowned.

"That's it! I won't be ignored anymore! Acid Ink!" Calmaramon shot out acidic black ink at them.

Danny quickly grabbed onto Andy and Valerie, who were still holding onto their Digimon partners, and turned them intangible. The ink went through them, and melted the road under them. Danny had to pick them up and move them away a bit.

Valerie noticed the rage at being ignored. "She seemed to get mad when we ignored her."

Andy's eyes widened. That's it! While Ranamon may have taken over Paulina for the most part, she's still Paulina. Of course she would get angry at being ignored, she would also get angry if people didn't acknowledge her beauty, or think she was ugly. Getting her angry might be risky though, but it would give her less control over the situation. From what Takuya told me, Beast Spirits are hard to control, especially if one's emotions are out of control.

"Wow, the only thing that's more painful than that Acid Ink is having to look at this squid lady's face," Andy spoke up.

Valerie looked at Andy in surprise. "Andy?! What are you doing?!"

Calmaramon blinked in surprise before she turned red in the face with anger. "Did you just call me ugly?!" She snapped.

"I don't know, calling you 'ugly' would be a compliment," Andy said.

"Yeah, you're not just ugly, you're really stinky too. I've eaten bad fish that smelled better than you!" Gomamon spoke up, seeming to have caught on with what Andy was doing.

Valerie looked shocked, but she decided to roll with the idea, hoping Andy knew what he was doing. "Actually, I think an ugly statue would be more appealing to look at than your repulsive face."

"Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately, oh wait, you can't, because you break them as soon as you look at them!" Dorumon shouted up.

By now, Calmaramon's entire body was boiling red from anger.

"Are you guys nuts!? Why are you insulting the squid lady who almost drowned you!?" Danny spoke up frantically.

"You will PAY!" Calmaramon shouted. "You will all PAY!" She began to lunge towards the group, her mind now so clouded by rage, she lost herself to her Beast Spirit's primal mindset.

Calmaramon let out a screeching roar.

"Okay, she's lost it! Now what?" Gomamon asked.

"We run now!" Andy spoke up before he and Dorumon began running.

"Wait! What kind of plan is this!?" Valerie shouted as she and Gomamon started running after them.

Danny flew over them, not sure what the plan was either.

Dorumon looked at Andy. "Care to explain the plan, Andy?"

"Yeah, don't die," Andy answered while still running.

Calmaramon was still screeching. All the people in the area quickly cleared out, none of them wanted to become victims to this angry squid lady.

Danny looked down at the pursuing Calmaramon. He noticed she was more focused on chasing down her insulters, not him or anything else. It was similar to when BurningGreymon had attacked him, he noted.

"We'll have to try to slow her down," Andy said as he dug into his pocket. "Oh great, all my cards are soaked!"

Andy tossed Valerie a card. "Here, scan this card on the slot of your D-Arc!"

Valerie caught the card and looked at it before glancing back at Andy. "O-okay!"

The card spun before a hand grabbed the card and Valerie looked ahead from the left, emerging from the shadows. She held up her D-Arc, the screen facing away from her and the slot on the right side. She slid the card through the slot as she pulled the card down and her D-Arc up. "Digi-Modify!" She called out as she separated the card and her D-Arc. "Etemon's Dark Network activate!"

"Wow, I feel strange," Gomamon commented.

"Turn and focus on Calmaramon!" Dorumon quickly said to Gomamon.

The aquatic Rookie didn't hesitate to turn back to Calmaramon. Her body had a dark aura around her before she summoned up dark wires from the ground that began to wrap around Calmaramon's body and started to sap away her strength.

"That won't hold her for long," Andy said before getting out another card. "Dorumon, rush up towards Calaramon's face and try to look at her in the eyes!"

Dorumon rushed towards Calmaramon's face as Andy got ready. Andy then held up the device and his card. The card spun before Andy caught it in two fingers, looking up from the shadows. He then held the device over his head, the card slot facing down towards his head. He stuck the card's edge into the slot and dragged it through, the card being pulled towards the right side of his body and the device towards the left side of his body. "Digi-Modify!" Andy called out. He pulled the device and card apart from each other. "Devidramon's Red Eyes activate!"

Dorumon managed to jump at Calaramon's face, using his wings to hover as much as he could. His eyes turned red, which soon paralyzed the Beast Spirit.

"Now that she's paralyzed and held down, let's all attack her at once!" Andy spoke up.

Valerie realized Andy had been probably planning this from the get-go. "Okay!" She gave Andy a smirk before she turned to face the Beast Warrior of Water and aimed one of her last missiles at the squid lady.

Danny flew down and readied a ghost ray to fire as well.

Patamon came flying in. "I knew I could find you!"

"Patamon?" Danny looked at the little Digimon in surprise.

Patamon was panting a little. "Yeah… you know… you fly really fast… Also… is that the Warrior of Water down there?"

"Yeah… Don't ask how, but she appeared here in the real world." Danny admitted. "She found a host too. But we're about to attack her so we can take the Spirit away."

"Very well, I expect an explanation after this is over," Patamon said.

Dorumon and Gomamon came back to their partners and were ready to attack.

"Alright, now!" Andy called out before he threw his Fenton Rod at Calmaramon.

Valerie shot out an ecto gun she still had in her suit.

Danny fired his strongest ghost ray at Calmaramon.

"Metal Cannon!" Dorumon shot out his iron balls at the Beast Spirit.

"Marching Fishes!" Gomamon sent her fishes towards Calmaramon as well.

"Boom Bubble!" Patamon shot out a large ball of air at the trapped Beast Warrior of Water, right at her ugly face.

All the attacks hit, Calmaramon let out a shout of pain and agony. Danny's ghost ray likely hurt the most though. Her fractal code began to show around her body, and her two Spirits appeared as well.

Valerie stared at the two Spirits. "Are those the Spirits you mentioned, Gomamon?"

"Yes, but we have to act fast or they'll disappear again!" Gomamon quickly warned.

Andy frowned, his D-Arc was having some kind of error. "My D-Arc can't hold these Spirits, I can't scan the fractal code!" We would need a D-Tector for the Spirits!

"I got it!" Danny shouted before flying down and grabbing the Beast Spirit.

Dorumon blinked. "Huh?! How did he do that?!" Danny doesn't have a D-Tector...

"We can still take it by hand!" Andy realized. "Quick, grab the other one!"

Valerie lunged forward, trying to grab the last Spirit. "I got this one!"

Unfortunately, when Valerie tried to grab the Spirit, her hand went through it. "Wah!?"

"... I guess only ghosts can interact with the Spirits." Andy frowned.

"Or a Digimon!" Gomamon spoke up as she started running towards the fractal code herself.

Unfortunately, it was always too late, the fractal code disappeared, and so did the Human Spirit of the Warrior of Water. Though instead of Calmaramon, Ranamon was left in her place.

"Oh crud…" Valerie muttered. "We got one Spirit, but now have to deal with the other one…"

"Valerie! Get out of there!" Andy frantically called out.

Valerie was too close to Ranamon, since she tried to grab the Spirit earlier. Now angrier than ever, Ranamon grabbed onto Valerie and squeezed her neck. "If you all take one step closer, this girl will meet her maker!"

Danny froze. Oh no… No, no, no! This can't be happening! He didn't want to get Valerie hurt, but at the same time, he didn't want her to die.

Andy gritted his teeth, he didn't like seeing that Valerie was now being used as a hostage. Dorumon growled, his eyes turning into slits. He wanted to rip Ranamon apart for this. Gomamon was the closest one to Ranamon and Valerie, but she didn't dare move in case Ranamon actually went through with her threat.

"You there," Ranamon spoke up to Danny. "Hand over my Beast Spirit, and I may let this girl live."

Danny then had a frantic idea come to his mind. Wait… maybe we can use this to our advantage! He wasn't sure if it would work though. If I can get her to release Valerie first, we may be able to trick Ranamon. But… Oh… right. I can't duplicate...

Danny noticed Patamon was flying closer to Ranamon from behind. Ranamon didn't notice the little Rookie Digimon, especially since he just came flying in before they took her Beast Spirit. Danny remembered how often Andy didn't need to convey something to Dorumon, the partner Digimon would just do it.

Patamon got closer, and he was soon right behind Ranamon. He sucked in a big breath of air before releasing his Boom Bubble right at Ranamon's arm holding Valerie. This sudden attack surprised Ranamon enough to make her let go of Valerie. Before Ranamon could grab Valerie again, both Patamon and Gomamon jumped at the Legendary Warrior and tackled her down.

Valerie coughed as she landed on the ground, her hand reaching up and rubbing at her neck. "Ugh… No wonder most Digimon respect the Legendary Warriors. Their strength is greater than that of a human's…"

Andy and Dorumon rushed over to Valerie, trying to help get her to her feet. Andy had to sling Valerie's arm around his shoulder. "Come on, we have to get out of here."

"That's IT! No more Ms. Nice gal! You're all so dead!" Ranamon shouted. "Whipping Waves Times Ten!"

Suddenly, rain water, and the ocean water by the docks, started to flow around them, and began to flood the city. Andy, Dorumon, Valerie, Gomamon, and Patamon were quickly caught up in the water, and were now trapped in spheres of water so they couldn't get away. Danny was the only one who didn't get trapped due to him floating above the water.

Aw, shit! Danny swore in his mind. What can I do?! She's so much stronger than I expected, even as a Human Spirit!

"Your energies will be put to good use! Including you, Invisobill!" Ranamon shouted before she clapped her hand and created a cloud that covered the entire city.

"Oh… no…" Danny paled.

"Draining Rain!" Ranamon shouted before the cloud began pouring all over the already flooded city.

Danny paled. He needed a plan, but what?! What could he do?! Looking around frantically, he tried to figure out how to stop her, but he was so panicked, nothing was coming to his mind.

Gomamon opened her eyes, managing to wake up from the sudden black out Ranamon caused with her Whipping Waves. She gasped when she realized that her partner and friends were trapped in these water spheres. I've got to do something!

"Marching Fishes!"

Several fishes came up from the water and went into the water spheres.

"Bubble Deflector!" Gomamon called out.

The fishes blew out bubbles around Valerie, Andy, Patamon, and Dorumon's heads, allowing them to breathe.

Valerie coughed again. "Ugh… Okay… I officially hate the Legendary Warriors…" She grumbled.

"Don't hate the Legendary Warriors… just this one…" Andy sighed, after coughing out some water himself.

"We need to take that Spirit away before she causes anymore damage," Patamon spoke up.

"What the? Is that another Digimon?" Valerie asked in surprise, being that this was the first time she saw Patamon. "They're just popping up everywhere."

"That's Patamon, he's a friend, don't worry," Dorumon assured.

"At this rate, Ranamon is going to flood the inland of Amity Park, and that will cause too much water damage to be fixed." Andy frowned. "I don't think Da- the ghost boy is going to be able to face her all by himself, especially not with how powerful she's gotten with all this water."

"But what can we do? We're out of options!" Valerie groaned, feeling tired and frustrated.

Suddenly, the water started to move them into the ocean again. They all yelped as they began to sink, still trapped in their spheres of water. The only thing keeping them alive was Gomamon's bubbles.

"Hey, there's that underwater city again," Gomamon noted as they were sinking in the ocean.

Valerie blinked as she eyed the city. "What's with that city? It looks too new to be ancient, and yet it feels like it is ancient with how abandoned it looks."

"I don't recognize that city either," Patamon admitted.

"Do you think…" Dorumon frowned. "Do you think maybe… this could be Amity Park if this goes on?"

"This underwater city…" Andy paled. "It might just be… Amity Park's future if we can't stop Ranamon."

Valerie paled as well. "That's… not good…" Everyone would drown, even all my friends… my dad... Amity Park would just… be like this city. Underwater, lost, forgotten… empty…

"No," Gomamon spoke up suddenly. "I don't know the story behind this underwater city, but I know one thing; this isn't Amity Park. It will never be Amity Park. Because we will save it, we will stop Ranamon. I know we can… but I can't do it alone. I need your help to get stronger, Valerie. Why did you become the Red Huntress?"

Valerie looked down. "It was to get rid of the ghost who ruined my life." She admitted. "At least, it was at first, but now… I'm not too sure…"

"Sometimes heroes are born, other times, they're made," Andy said, looking at Valerie. "We can choose if we want to be heroes or not. We have the power and the ability to make a difference. Being the Red Huntress doesn't have to be about revenge anymore, it could be about protecting the city, protecting the lives of the people living in it."

Valerie had to laugh. "That sounds very cheesy and cliche, Andy." She then smiled a bit. "But you do make a good argument." She then looked at the D-Arc in her hand. "I… I wanted revenge at first, but now… seeing that there are other beings besides ghosts that can hurt others…" She clenched her D-Arc. "I want to protect the people of the city. Against ghosts, against Digimon… I want to protect it, because my dad and I are here. Everyone I care about is here, and I will do what I can to protect them."

Valerie's D-Arc began to glow brightly. She turned the screen of the D-Arc towards Gomamon and hoped something good was happening. There were words that suddenly said "DIGIVOLUTION."

Gomamon felt the energy of Valerie's will fill her body. "Gomamon, digivolve to…" Gomamon's skin began to peel away from her face, and then from her limbs. Her skin reformed on her chest, becoming white. Skin on her back came into form, becoming blue in color with aqua colored stripes running down her back, in horizontal lines. She gained fins on her back as well. Her limbs regained skin, becoming blue like her back. Her snout elongated to become more like a dolphin's nose, and her eyes turned green. "Dolphmon!"

As soon as Gomamon was now Dolphmon, she took a deep breath. "Water Wave!"

Now in control of the ocean herself, Dolphmon had the big wave bring them back onto the land, while also pulling the flood back out into the water. She also popped the spheres that had kept her friends and partner trapped. Ranamon, who had been fighting with Danny, was shocked at the sudden lack of flooding.

Valerie gaped at Dolphmon and her power. "W-Wha…? Is that… what Andy's Digimon partner is capable of? Did you just get stronger?"

"Yup! Thanks to you, I was able to digivolve!" Dolphmon grinned. "Although, I am surprised. I thought for sure I'd become an Ikkakumon, that's my line's normal Champion form."

"Anything's possible for the Digital World's inhabitants." Dorumon chuckled.

Andy's D-Arc beeped before he took it out. Dolphmon's hologram came up. "Dolphmon, Champion level, Vaccine type. Dolphmon is a Sea Animal Digimon. A unique signal that originated within software for researching communication between different kinds of groups changed into Dolphmon, a Digimon with a unique existence. Due to its habitat being limited to the sea, it became able to move about the sea at high speeds."

Valerie whistled. "Wow… That's unexpected." She then grinned a bit. "But now we have a better chance of fighting back and taking the last Spirit from Ranamon."

"We're still not out of the woods yet. Ranamon has this Draining Rain going on. Because it's so far spread, it's taking a lot longer to drain away people's energy, but it will still be a problem if it keeps going," Patamon noted.

"Leave it to me." Dolphmon grinned. "There's more than one Water user here. Divine Rain!"

The dark clouds were soon replaced by a whiter, softer looking clouds. The draining rain was soon replaced by a healing rain. The rain felt comfortable, and the waters appeared to be healing whatever wounds Valerie, Andy, Patamon, and Dorumon had.

Valerie looked at Dolphmon with a grin. "That's some miracle water." She joked.

Danny was surprised at how different the rain was suddenly. Ranamon was more angry. "What the heck is going on!? What happened to my rain!?"

Danny looked around, before noticing Andy and the others were back, and they were fine, if not soaked to the bone. But he was surprised to see a dolphin Digimon with them.

"What the?" Danny wondered. "Is that a new Digimon?" Deciding to focus more on Ranamon than wonder about the new Digimon, Danny returned his attention to the Warrior of Water. He fired off an ecto-ray at Ranamon, intent on getting her Human Spirit.

Ranamon blocked the ghost ray with a water shield. "This will not do at all! I must get rid of them once and for all! Whipping Waves!"

"No!" Danny called out.

More water started to gush towards Andy and the others again. Dolphmon quickly floated in front of them, taking the water attack herself.

"Dolphmon!" Valerie cried, worried for her partner Digimon now.

"Are you okay?" Dorumon asked in concern.

"Don't worry… I'll be fine. I'll be sure to take this Warrior of Water down a peg or two," Dolphmon assured. "Water Wave!"

With a loud ultrasonic sound, Dolphmon managed to take command of the water, turning it into a tidal wave aimed at Ranamon. Danny, seeing this, quickly turned himself intangible and flew away before the big wave could crash right into Ranamon. Both Ranamon and Dolphmon were now face to face underwater with each other.

"I've had it with you almost drowning my partner and friends like that," Dolphmon growled.

"Oh, you will pay for interfering with my revenge! My boyfriend will take me back once I get rid of his interfering brother!" Ranamon snapped back.

"You're no Legendary Warrior, you're just a petty girl upset over petty things. You don't deserve this Spirit," Dolphmon hissed.

"Says you!" Ranamon countered. "I deserve this power just fine!"

"Then let's see if you can fight back against another aquatic Digimon!" Dolphmon challenged. "Pulse Blast!"

Dolphmon let out a screeching ultrasonic wave at Ranamon, which quickly gave her a massive headache, and weakened her a bit.

"W-what is this?!" Ranamon asked before she clutched at her head, feeling the migraine coming on. "Ow! My head!"

Dolphmon then swam close to Ranamon quickly. Ranamon barely had time to think before Dolphmon slammed her tail into Ranamon's torso, sending her back several feet. The water turned into a wave that hit a nearby building, and Ranamon had slammed into that building.

"Ow…" Ranamon groaned, disoriented now. "That hurt…"

Ranamon then glared. "It's not over yet! I am the Legendary Warrior of Water after all! You're just a stupid dolphin! Dark Vapor!"

Dolphmon saw the acidic cloud coming at her, and she quickly swam away from it. Dolphmon was incredibly fast in the water.

"Wow…" Andy whistled, he and the others were able to watch what was going on using the D-Arc.

Valerie's D-Arc was connected to Dolphmon's eyes, so she could see the battle up close and personal. Dorumon's eyes just made it easier for Andy to see from a third person perspective.

"You know… if you could get your suit provider to give you some water gear, you might be able to ride on Dolphmon and explore the wonders of the ocean~ I mean I ride on Dorugamon all the time. It definitely helps the bond and synergy between Digimon and human after all," Andy suggested.

Valerie looked at Andy before looking back at her D-Arc's image again. "Yeah?" She was thinking now. I might just do that. It would be cool to ride on Dolphmon in the ocean...

Danny was floating over the water, and Patamon decided to fly up to him. "You know, you could still help Dolphmon out."

"I can?" Danny asked. "Underwater? Isn't that kinda… entering the lion's den?"

"Heh… well, ghosts are capable of breathing underwater, at least most of them. There are some exceptions, like fire ghosts of course. But Vlad was able to fly underwater and stay under there for hours no problem. I'd imagine the same could be said for you," Patamon explained. "After all, didn't you save Andy and Valerie from drowning underwater earlier?"

Danny did remember that. "Yeah… I did, didn't I?" He then looked down at where Dolphmon and Ranamon were fighting. "I guess I should go help Dolphmon, then." He then flew down to the water to join the fight.

Andy looked up, seeing Danny going into the water.

"Did that ghost boy just go into the water?" Valerie asked, surprised. "Why?"

"Hmm… I guess we'll see," Andy said, looking back at the D-Arc.

Danny was rather surprised that he could swim underwater with such ease. His feet were replaced by his ghostly tail though, likely to make swimming around easier. Though Danny couldn't literally breathe underwater, his lungs didn't feel like they were burning as he held his breath. Danny wondered how he didn't notice this before.

"Gah!" Dolphmon groaned as Ranamon managed to get a Draining Rain on her, draining her energy.

Danny saw Dolphmon in trouble and swam over to her, turning her intangible to get her away from the Draining Rain. "Are you okay?"

Dolphmon blinked her eyes a little as she looked at Danny. "You're… a good ghost, right?"

Danny chuckled sheepishly. "You could say that. I'm Phantom, and I help protect Amity Park from other ghosts."

"Wow… you must have quite the story behind you then," Dolphmon complimented.

"DO NOT IGNORE ME!" Ranamon shouted.

"Well, Phantom, since you're helping out, mind shutting this annoying Legendary Warrior up?" Dolphmon requested. "She seems to be vulnerable to your attacks."

Danny nodded. "Sure, she needs to be taken down a peg or two I think as well."

Ranamon was coming at them for an attack. Dolphmon unleashed a Pulse Blast attack, emitting loud soundwaves at Ranamon to slow her down. Danny then fired a ghost ray, using Dolphmon's Pulse Blast to make it stronger. Ranamon let out a scream at the ghost ray engulfed her body. The water around them dissipated.

"This is it! Now's our chance!" Andy spoke up. "She's weakened, attack her at once!"

Patamon and Dorumon ran towards Ranamon. She was weakened, but not enough to show her fractal code yet. Ranamon growled in defiance.

"I won't let you take my Spirit!" Ranamon shouted in anger. "It's mine! Mine!"

"Not for long." Dolphmon hissed.

Andy picked up his Fenton Rod, he held out a hand to Valerie. Valerie looked at Andy, before realizing he wanted them to do the finishing blow together.

Valerie smirked. She took Andy's hand in response. "You ready, Andy?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," Andy sheepishly grinned. "Now come on! Let's end this watery nightmare once and for all!"

With her ecto gun, Valerie and Andy charged forward, running alongside Dorumon and Patamon. Danny looked at them, his hands glowing with ecto energy. The halfa couldn't help but smile as he watched them running towards Ranamon.

"No! NO! IT'S MINE! YOU HEAR ME!? IT'S ALL MINE!" Ranamon shouted.

But Andy and Valerie were not deterred. Valerie aimed her ecto-gun and fired it as Andy got his Fenton Rod out and swung it at Ranamon. Dorumon opened his mouth and bit down on Ranamon's side hard, while Patamon tackled Ranamon's torso. Danny and Dolphmon came up close themselves, Danny delivering a punch with his fist covered in ecto energy, and Dolphmon slapping Ranamon with her tail.

Ranamon shouted as her fractal code was showing again.

Danny saw the Spirit of Water showing and flew in, grabbing it before the fractal code could fade away. "We got it! We have both Spirits!"

With both Spirits gone, Ranamon disappeared. In her place was Paulina, who just fell to the ground and lost consciousness. With the threat finally gone, everyone fell to the ground in pure and utter exhaustion. The clouds that covered the sky started to part.

Valerie panted heavily. "Ugh… I'm sure I'm going to have a cold after this…" She sighed.

"Heh… that was quite the battle though," Andy laughed. "At least we'll get a nice rainbow out of this."

The laughter was contagious, and soon the others began laughing with him. They were all just glad to finally have the battle over. There were going to be some water damages to the city, but at least it didn't suffer the same fate as the underwater city.

Titanic X: ZAFT: I am glad you got a kick out of that ending. XD

DarkFoxKit: Things tend to get interesting with Andy and Takuya.

AnimeFan419: DarkFoxKit: In case you were wondering, yes, we do plan on doing season 2 and 3 in Digital Phantom. The Ultimate Enemy… we haven't quite figured out on how we'll tackle it, since things are a lot more different than they are in canon.

ZAFT: But don't worry, we will figure it out. And yes, we are aware of the crossover section, but this is for maximum readership, the story being placed where it is now. ^^'

CT7567Rules: DarkFoxKit: Well Joey Wheeler is the inspiration for the Dash in this story. I like Yu-Gi-Oh too, at least the original.

As for Gomamon, it means… well, I'm sure you know by now. I did consider giving Valerie the Ranamon Spirit Evolution instead, but I felt she was already strong enough with her Red Huntress stuff, so decided she would be better off with a Digimon partner instead. Plus, I didn't want Valerie to become Calmaramon.

Yeah, it just took some common sense to get Johnny and Kitty back together. As for the Ranamon incident, it isn't going to be revealed on what happened that made her gain a physical form for a while.

ZAFT: As for Jack and Maddie seeing Takuya Spirit Evolve, you will have to wait a while for that unfortunately. But we do plan to address that soon. :3 And as mentioned before, please keep mention of my other stories out of the review section. ^^'

DarkFoxKit: Besides, I've also been working hard on this story too, at least give me some credit.

Guest: ZAFT: If we do plan something like that, it will have to be a different story.

DarkFoxKit: I like Star and Kwan, but not enough to focus on them. Especially when we have a lot of characters to juggle with already, and even sometimes we forget to bring in a crucial character during a battle scene.

Red Wanderer: DarkFoxKit: Umm… that's up to ZAFT, she's the one posting it. Do you want to post another version of this story on the crossover section?

ZAFT: I will think about it, but if I have to choose, I will probably move the story to the crossover section by season 2 at the earliest.

DarkFoxKit: Sounds fair. Give the completion of season 1 in the crossover section since we didn't believe we would get much views there.

ZAFT: Yep. :3
