Chapter 54
Rainbow Heart growled as her energy blades clashed against her other self's black energy blades. "You just have to exist, don't you, assassin?"
"Aww..." Rainbow Assassin smirked at Rainbow Heart. "Is someone super pissed about all the times she went out to torment, torture and kill people?"
"They were innocent people who tried to stop us from ruining their lives." Rainbow Heart growled as the two jumped away from each other.
"Innocent?" Rainbow Assassin laughed as she put her hands on her hips. "Innocent or guilty are merely an abstract concept that people use to avoid feeling guilty for killing people."
"You LIE!" Rainbow Heart let out a yell as she slapped her energy blades together, forming an energy bow. She pulled back and fired several energy arrows at Rainbow Assassin, who merely giggled and jumped away.
"Did I?" Rainbow Assassin asked as she bounced and flipped forward, before stopping and allowing a blast to go right in front of her before bending backwards to avoid another shot and then bending forward, allowing the shot to miss her completely. "Come on! Try harder than that!" She slapped her own butt and wiggled her hips at Rainbow Heart. "Come on, surely you can hit your own fat, yikes!" She yelped and jumped straight up, the arrow passing right where her butt had been a moment ago. "Oh sheesh, you almost shaved my bikini line!" Rainbow Assassin was slightly hunched over. "That would have hurt, you know!"
Rainbow Heart blushed softly as she fired some more shots. "I'm trying to kill you!"
"Oh please!" Rainbow Assassin scoffed before several circles appeared behind her. "You want to kill someone, you go for things like this!"
Rainbow Heart gasped as a rain of energy bolts came rushing down, fired as though they were a machine gun. She didn't waste any time before bolting out of the area. "Fuck!" She yelled as she looked over her shoulder and saw them turning to fly after her.
Rainbow Assassin snorted as she watched her other self turn and create a barrier to block her attack, allowing an explosion to happen around her as the attack hit, obscuring Rainbow Heart as dust and debris was kicked up from the explosion. "Oh please, I know you're not dead! And you never answered my question! Did I lie?" She smirked as the dust and dirt dissipated, revealing an angry-looking Rainbow Heart. "Why are you looking at me like that, hmm?" Rainbow Assassin grinned as she raised her left leg up and did a pirouette before putting her left foot down. "After all," she turned to look at Rainbow Heart with a sweet smile on her face, "you were the one who was oh so desperate for the Frozen Queen's approval."
Rainbow Heart's eyes widened in shock. "W...What?"
Rainbow Assassin giggled with a hand over her mouth. "You think I wouldn't know?" Her giggling tappered off as she pulled her hand away from her mouth, revealing a grin that stretched from ear-to-ear. "You were so desperate for her approval, even as you laughed... You laughed when you slaughtered that village. Don't you remember?"
A pulse of energy escaped from Rainbow Assassin that made the ground seemingly disappear and Rainbow Heart gasped as she and Rainbow Assassin were floating over a scene from the throne room of King Sobar and the Frozen Queen of the North.
"That's you... Me... ...Us? Bah, I'm not sure, but that's what you used to be." Rainbow Assassin said as she and Rainbow Heart looked down at the Rainbow Assassin that was next to Gray Assassin, both of them kneeling in front of the Frozen Queen of the North and her entire court.
"You're back." The Frozen Queen said, her voice so cold that it could freeze Lowee. Both Assassins bowed their heads in submission to avoid her wrath. "You were gone for three hours longer than you should have been."
"Apologies, your majesty," Gray Assassin spoke up, "the villagers put up more resistance than we had anticipated and we..." A small giggle escaped her mouth before she swallowed it, "apologies, but we ended up taking our time to eliminate the village and we had to hunt down the last few survivors."
"I do hope that you made sure to leave enough remains as a warning to the surface people what will happen if they try to resist us again." The Frozen Queen said idly, as though it wasn't a big deal to her. "Very well, you may leave."
The two nodded and stood up, but while Gray Assassin turned to leave, Rainbow Assassin stayed behind to look at the Queen.
"...Is there something more you want?"
"I..." Rainbow Assassin bit her lip. "Forgive me, but I must ask, was it really neccessary to eliminate that village? Most of the people were hardly worth the effort."
"The surface dwellers must be brought to heel." The Frozen Queen said as she narrowed her eyes at Rainbow Assassin. "Or are you questioning me?"
Many in the crowd and both assassins went pale and Rainbow Assassin shook her head. "N-no! Of course not! I merely wish to be of maximum use and do the best job I can do for you."
"Good." The Frozen Queen said and snapped her fan closed. "Now leave, before I decide you need to be disciplined." Rainbow Assassin nodded and quickly left with Gray Assassin.
"Dear..." King Sobar said to her quietly as she sat down on the throne. "That was too much, don't you think? You should go easy on them."
"They won't reach their full potential without being forced to suffer." The Frozen Queen told him. "Or have you forgotten what the Masters told us?"
"...Of course not." King Sobar said, sighing softly. "I'm just saying, it wouldn't hurt to give them some time off."
"...We'll see, dear." The Frozen Queen said as she stood up. "Come with me, I wish to retire for the night."
"Of course." King Sobar said as he stood up and walked off with her.
The images disappeared and Rainbow Heart blinked a few times. "Wait, I don't remember that last bit, how did you..?"
"I was made from mother-dearest's memories." Rainbow Assassin smirked at her before giggling. "So I know some things you don't." She waggled a finger at Rainbow Heart and jumped away.
Rainbow Heart stood still, anger on her face while her eyes shimmered. Part of the reason she wasn't moving was because she had never known that King Sobar had been like that at first. '...I thought he only changed suddenly when he and the other Kings decided to remove the old farts from power.'
"Oh, what's the matter?" Rainbow Assassin asked as she suddenly appeared behind Rainbow Heart, who gasped and spun around, only to gasp in pain as Rainbow Assassin slashed her thighs, causing Rainbow Heart to crumple to the ground. "I thought you were mad at me?" Rainbow Assassin giggled as Rainbow Heart brough her wings out, only for Rainbow Assassin to stab Rainbow Heart in her shoulders, pinning her to the ground. "How cute, you're now a pinned butterfly, in fact..."
"AHHHH!" Rainbow Heart screamed in pain as her hands and feet were both stabbed, pinning her to the ground even more.
"So cute!" Rainbow Assassin laughed and clapped her hands together as she looked at her other self in joy. "And to think, you wouldn't even be here if mommy wasn't capable of making CPU babies."
Rainbow Heart grunted and glared at her other self. "G...Go fuck yourself."
"...Considering that you and I are basically the same person, does that mean I should cut your processor off, get naked myself and do the nasty?" Rainbow Assassin asked with a distant look on her face as she tapped her chin. "Well, I'm not against such an idea, but I'm not interested right now, after all, you were trying to kill me." The smile that came to her face was so big that her eyes screwed shut.
Rainbow Heart glared at her other self as Rainbow Assassin created a large energy sword. '...Is this it?' She thought to herself and she screwed her eyes shut as tears filled her eyes. "Those fucking old men! Why?! WHY?!"
"...Huh?" Rainbow Assassin blinked in confusion as she held the blade above her head, the sharp end pointed down. "...I only have mother's memories, none of yours, you know."
Rainbow Heart cracked open an eye. "...You really want to know?" Rainbow Assassin nodded. "F...Fine."
*Flash*
"Ho?" An old, bald man with a long, white beard, who was wearing a gray robe and using a large, gnarled staff smirked as he saw Purple Assassin, Gray Assassin, King Sobar, King Weonez and King Toldan storm into the room. Around him were several other old men, similiarly clothed and aged. "Sobar, Weonez, Toldan, what are you three doing here?"
"...There's something that I've been wondering, Master Menthis," Sobar spoke up as he looked at the old man, "when you tasked myself and the others to lead a retribution against the Goddesses of above, you told us nothing about how much the people up there would suffer."
"They deserve it." Menthis said before coughing. "Anyway, your job is to merely rule the people and keep the civilians in line. Leave the military to us and your wives."
"It's funny..." Weonez said softly, "but something tells me that you're not being truthful about the Goddesses who ruled the land."
"BAH!" Menthis dismissed Weonez's comments. "They were nothing more than shallow, savage people who needed to be brought under control! That's why we had you capture them, so we could fix their minds and be..." Menthis chuckled softly, "accepting of the thought of being with you. And really, how can you complain? Each of you has a woman who recovers quickly from giving birth and will never get old. Just because your wives..."
"STOP IT!" Gray Assassin yelled at Menthis. "You're the reason that our mother is being used!" She pointed at him and the other old men. "Because of you, we've had to kill so much!"
"Oh please." Another old man scoffed at her. "It's either them or us, so what if we have to kill a few civilians?"
"...As a King," Sobar said as he narrowed his eyes at Menthis and the other old men, "I was pushed into the role, given Lady Purple Heart as my woman when I was merely sixteen years old and told to keep her, her daughters and my people in line, I was promised by all of you that nothing bad would happen to us."
"And nothing has!" A third old man, this one with slightly darker skin than the typical Mole Person, yelled as he pounded his hand on the table as hard as he could, which wasn't that hard considering his advanced age.
"Lady White Heart's people..." King Toldan, someone who was a bit smaller than the other Mole Kings, glared at the old men, "are my people so long as she is forced to live here and we have betrayed them."
"We took a trip to the surface," Weonez supplied, to the growing confusion of the old men, "and saw how horrible things have been there."
"So we decided to take over the military as well." Sobar said as he glared at the old men. "You can step down and we'll deal with you in an appropriate way, or you can resist and we'll remove you from power right now."
"...You really have grown up, brat." Menthis scoffed at Sobar. "You were so eager to get revenge on the surface for what the first CPU did to us all those centuries ago and you wanted Purple Heart since the first time you saw her." He chuckled as he leaned back in his chair. "...I'm almost proud of you." A grin came to his face. "But, I wonder," he looked at Rainbow Assassin and Gray Assassin, "yes, that would be amusing."
"Amusing?" Sobar asked in confusion as both Rainbow Assassin and Gray Assassin let out a yell while clutching their necks. "What did you do?"
Menthis chuckled as his smirk grew. "A simple nano-tech drone, so small that it's near impossible to see just injected a little serum into their bodies, allowing me to change their DNA slightly, the programming in their DNA forced them to listen to whomever was in charge of the world. I always knew that CPUs, even if they were made by us would eventually betray us," Menthis scoffed at the two assassins. "So congratulations, CPU Rainbow Heart and CPU Gray Heart, you now have a new problem," he smirked while the others in the room chuckled, "so long as you can transform, you'll be forced to fight against the CPUs in charge of the world... For the rest of your lives."
Rainbow Heart and Gray Heart stared at him in horror.
"I told you, didn't I?" Menthis asked as he stood up and held his arms up and spread apart. "You will be the insturment of my revenge against the CPUs and the surface! If you won't do it with my blessing, then you'll do it with my curse!"
Before Rainbow Heart or Gray Heart could react, the Mole Kings were moving. The next thing any of them knew, the old men were dead and King Sobar looked at Woenez and Toldan, nodding. "Prepare an announcement to allow everyone to know that there were traitors among us and that they have been taken care of."
"Yes." They both nodded and left while King Sobar walked up to Rainbow Heart and Gray Heart.
Gray Heart flinched while Rainbow Heart glared at the tall man. "Go away." Rainbow Heart growled at him. "I hate you."
"I..." Sobar tried to say something but found himself at a loss of words.
"If you..." Rainbow Heart glared with tears flowing out of her eyes. "If only you didn't exist! Then mom... Mom..."
Gray Heart glared at Sobar, tears falling out of her eyes as well. "You bastard."
Sobar said nothing as the two turned and ran off, leaving him behind.
*End Flashback*
"And after that, you found that you had to fight against your own mother." Rainbow Assassin giggled as she bounced in place, clapping her hands. "If you and the others hadn't betrayed the old men, then you wouldn't be in this predicament, huh?"
"...I..."
"But then again, could you suffer killing more people?" Rainbow Assassin asked as she tapped her chin. "Especially when our dear mother..." Rainbow Assassin chuckled as she snapped her fingers and Rainbow Heart saw another image appear in front of her.
The Frozen Queen of the North was walking up to hers and Ouya's room before stopping. "...Why are you following me, dear?" She asked and turned to look at Sobar.
"...Can I be worried about you?" He asked her as she sighed and looked around before nodding and reaching up to remove her mask, allowing her features to change back to Purple Heart. "...Neptune?"
"I wish to check on my children." Purple Heart said softly and walked into the room. She was rather impressed with how clean their rooms were, but knew that it was because they weren't given much. Stopping in front of the bunk bed that the two shared, she shook her head as she saw how Ouya was shivering slightly after kicking her blankets off. Reaching down, she pulled the blankets over Ouya and tucked her in before standing up straight and looking at Stadia, who was groaning and frowning in her sleep. "...Shhh..." Purple Heart said softly as she reached up and hugged Stadia, who rolled over in her sleep to hug Purple Heart. "Shhh... No one will hurt you."
After a few minutes, Stadia started to relax in her sleep. "mmm...mom?" Stadia asked, her voice slurred.
"This is just a dream." Purple Heart said softly and kissed Stadia on the forehead. "Go back to sleep."
"Okay." Stadia said softly and sighed as Purple Heart pulled the blankets over her. "...Yer still in that jail, you can't be here to see me after all." Stadia murmured before letting out a soft snore.
Purple Heart grimaced as she gripped her head and walked out of the room. "...Dear, I think I need to go to bed myself."
"...Neptune," Sobar said softly, "what's wrong?"
"...Nothing." Purple Heart said, grimacing as she put her mask back on, which changed her features to the Frozen Queen of the North yet again. Walking off, she started to mutter to herself. "...What was that? Why was I thinking of a young girl with short hair glaring at me and saying I need to stop being brainwashed? I'm not brainwashed."
The images disappeared and Rainbow Assassin laughed at Rainbow Heart. "Oh, but she was! That machine she fell into was what kept her and the others brainwashed and thinking they were Mole Queens and it's why they had no problem sending you and Ouya to kill their former subjects!" Rainbow Assassin then hefted her large energy blade up, with the tip pointed down. "Now that you know more of the truth, you can die! Hee hee hee!"
Rainbow Heart could only stare as the blade started to rush down at her prone body.
So... I realized that I had a plot hole in the story. This chapter is my attempt to fix said plot hole.
...And then I realized I ripped off Galactus and Silver Surfer. Whoops! XD
...I'm going to leave an Omake here.
"Wait!" Rainbow Heart yelled at Rainbow Assassin, who looked at her in confusion. "I don't recall acting like you, at least, not as crazy as you are, so why are you like this?"
"Oh, that's simple." Rainbow Assassin giggled. "The author originally was going to have you and Ouya be "terrible twins", but changed your personalities as the story progressed and it became time to introduce you, so I'm basically running on "original concept design" here."
"Ah, crap! She can break the fourth wall like mom!"
"Well, I *AM* Neptune's daughter." Rainbow Assassin giggled while Rainbow Heart nodded.
