Chapter 57
As October settled in, so did their first Hogsmeade visit of the new school year.
Filch, was standing out at the oak doors- as usual- poking anyone within reach with a stick. Very professional.
Calypso was pretty sure it had magical properties but it certainly doesn't do much.
By the time she arrived at Hogsmeade with Pansy, her nose felt like it would fall off already due to the sleet and heavy winds.
"W-where is ev-veryone else?"
Pansy shrugged. "Draco's got detention with McGonagall. And I've got no clue where Nott is"
"Wonderful" shivered Calypso. "It's just us then?"
"Yup"
Calypso considered it for a moment. "Where do you want to go then?"
"Ooo, let's got to Madam Pudifoots!"
"Us?"
"No actually...let's go to Honeydukes. Do you know what candy Draco prefers?"
"Err, he likes anything apple" Calypso guessed as they squeezed their way into the overcrowded shop.
"Maybe this?" Pansy held up a large bag of crystalized apples.
"Yeah…" Calypso certainly wished she had someone as dedicated to making her happy as Pansy did for Draco. "Honestly, he doesn't deserve you. You need to go find someone better"
"What?" Pansy asked in confusion.
"Like, Draco doesn't even care about you- no offense- you can do better than him"
Pansy furrowed her eyebrows, "I'll keep that in mind"
She certainly did seem to be thinking about it as they paid and walked towards the Three Broomsticks.
Just outside was Blaise, talking with whatever girl caught his eye on this particularly fine morning.
Once inside, she and Pansy didn't do much, just left again after ordering two cups of tea.
There was some sort of hold-up though as they got near the castle. Filch was arguing with someone about something they were trying to bring in, but when she could get a clear view, it was someone she'd least expect.
Katie Bell the Gryffindor.
A few feet away were Potter, Granger, and Weasley, arguing about Theo and Draco's credibility.
You know, they might be onto something this time.
"Hey, what happened?"
Hermione turned around. "Filch caught Katie trying to bring a dark necklace into the school."
"That's right" Potter interrupted. "The same one you and Nott were looking at"
"Harry!" Hermione scolded.
Potter glared at Hermione and continued. "You imperiused Katie and gave her the necklace didn't you?"
"What? Where did you get that idea from?"
"Yeah, you're even thicker than I thought" agreed Pansy.
"Y-you, you were in Hogsmeade-"
"What is going on over here?", McGonagall suddenly said.
Filch hurried up to her. "I've just caught HER with a dark object"
Calypso glanced at Katie, who had a blank face.
McGonagall did too and noticed at about the same time. "Give me the dark object Filch. And you-" she pointed at Potter, Granger, and Weasley, "-take her to the hospital wing." she then opened her mouth to talk about Pansy and Calypso, but apparently decided against it and closed her mouth again. Good choice.
By Monday morning, the incident was long forgotten in her mind, especially when McLaggen asked her to the 'Slug Club Christmas Party
"Um. No"
"Come on. You can't seriously be worried about your boyfriend"
Calypso raised an eyebrow. If she was dating Blaise, no she certainly wouldn't be worried, but Theo on the other hand….It wasn't as if he'd get mad, but he'd know. And that was just as embarrassing. "Blaise isn't my boyfriend."
"So you're single then! Even better! I'll see you-"
"No actually, I'm dating Theo. So no, I will NOT be seeing you", hopefully anytime soon, Calypso was tempted to add.
McLaggen crossed his arms, "Come on...there has to be a way for you-"
"No! Pansy!"
Pansy turned around, surprised. "What?"
"It was so nice of you to wait for me! I can not wait for our double date on Christmas- bye McLaggen"
Pansy gave her a strange look, "What?", she repeated.
Calypso casually brushed the hair out of her face, "Don't mind that. We both have Herbology next RI-"
"Calypso!"
"Yes?"
She turned around to see Draco, panting and running up to her. "Pack everything in here and get ready to leave during dinner. If all goes well….you'll see. Nott can explain"
"What?"
Pansy shrugged and put her hands up in the air.
"Just listen to me" Draco begged, handing her a small silver bag.
"Okay okay." Calypso turned to Pansy. "I guess I'm not going to Herbology then"
"I won't either then," pansy said brightly. "I loooooove packing!"
"Sure then I guess"
Back in the Slytherin dungeons, she found the bag had an undetectable extension charm on it. How thoughtful and helpful of them.
After 'accio'ing most of her belonging away, she was sure of two things.
This better not be a joke or it would take forever to put everything back a
All her clothes were gonna be wrinkled.
After re-packing, (Yes she did that just to make sure everything was sorted properly)- they headed down for lunch. To be more accurate, they were about to when Theo pulled them into a nearby corridor "Are you ready to leave?...and Pansy too if she wants"
"What? No no no I haven't packed yet."
Theo shrugged. "You can stay then. Calypso, get your broom ready, Dumbledore's coming back any second. We just received intel from Rosmerta"
"Wait what? Slow down, what does Dumbledore or Rosmerta have to do with any of this"
Theo took a deep breath. "The necklace. I gave it to Katie in a jewelry box to deliver-pay attention, Pansy. If they read your mind, I want the whole world to know I did it- so anyways. I knew Filch would confiscate it, so I let him. Then I stole it back this morning- that's why Draco was the one telling you to pack. After stealing it, I kept it in my bag until Rosmerta told us Dumbledore was back from his trip. I planted it in his office and just witnessed him touch it. Just to be sure, I cast the Avada on him- because Draco couldn't- and now I'm here. So right now, we need to go before someone discovers his dead body and locks down the castle." he finished.
"Wow wow wow. You just murdered Dumbledore?"
"Mhm"
"No way, you're amazing."
"Yeah thanks, get your broom and Draco now. Meet me in the Owlery. That'll be the last place they check."
After searching almost half the school for Draco, they ran up to the Owlery together, even though Pansy had no broom. "I'll share with you" Pansy offered, throwing Draco a very mean look.
But there was no time to see what happened, as suddenly, McGonagall's voice echoed throughout the castle. "ALL STUDENTS PLEASE REPORT TO THE GREAT HALL IMMEDIATELY"
"Go go go" urged Calypso as they ran up the stairs.
"La-"
"WAAAA"
Calypso spun around to see Pansy dangling on one of the guardrails. "Helpppp"
Quickly, Draco conjured a rope. "Grab on!"
Any sane person would've thought Draco was planning on pulling her up, but instead, he pulled the rope along up to the Owlery. By the time they reached the top, Pansy was red in the face.
"Let me up!"
Theo glanced at them before rushing over to help, "We have 30 seconds before the barrier to Hogwarts closes. Hurry!"
Finally, they wrenched Pansy free and all jumped onto their brooms.
Away away away they go.
