Lindsey, Chuck, Danny, Frances, and Helen were in Chris' lab standing before he abandoned portal.

"Christopher went to Sonic's world! Well, we have to bring him back! Right now!" Lindsey said.

"I don't think we should try to operate his machine, Mrs. Thorndyke." Frances said.

"Only Chris understands how it works." Danny said.

"I can't risk tampering with it, Lindsey. If I damaged it in any way, Chris might be trapped in Sonic's world forever." Chuck said.

"But we can't just leave him there!" Lindsey said frustrated.

Then Nelson showed up and put his hand on her shoulder.

"We have to trust our son." he said.

"But..."

"Chris knows how to take care of himself, and you know it's never wise to underestimate a Thorndyke."

Lindsey cried into Nelson's shoulder and Chuck nodded as Helen rolled forward in her wheelchair.

"I'm sure Chris will try to communicate with us, Mrs. Thorndyke. We'll stay here at the lab and let you know right away if we hear from him." Helen said.

"Thank you, Helen. Please do." Nelson said.

Meanwhile the Blue Typhoon was cruising through deep space. Everyone was gathered on the bridge.

"You detected one of the Planet Eggs?" Cream said.

"Are you sure about this, Knuckles?" Amy said.

"Yes. There's no doubt about it. I was in the engine room a few minutes ago when I saw the Master Emerald reacting to something." Knuckles said and showed them a glowing Master Emerald. "It must have been an Emerald!"

"Check for a planet nearby." Amy said.

"Let's see..." Tails said and pulled up a holo-map in the midst of the group.

Chris pointed to a spot on the map.

"There's one." he said.

"That's Planet Secco." Cosmo said.

Sonic was resting and reading a book titled "CosmoNav", which was a guide to the planets.

"And according to my galactic guide book, it's dry as a bone." he said.

There was a picture of the surface of Secco. It depicted a rocky environment, with a small mountains dotting the landscape. He chuckled after envisioning himself running through the barren landscape, before leaping down to the others.

"Tails, we're gonna land on Planet Secco and find that Egg! Let's go!" Amy said.

"I'm supposed to give the orders..." Tails said

"Just do it."

Outside the Blue Typhoon flew toward Secco, the Master Emerald glowed intensely, confirming Knuckles' theory. Soon the ship entered Secco's atmosphere.

"According to the scope, there's a lot of water on this world." Chris said.

"Oh no. We can't land here." Sonic said and they broke through the cloud layer. "There's gotta be some kind of mistake!"

"Tough luck, Sonic." Knuckles said chuckling. "Maybe I should have brought Chomps with me, then he'd be able to carry you there." he said and laughed even harder.

Sonic glared at him

"I will use this." he said pointing at his medallion getting Knuckles to gulp.

"Sorry." he said.

Sonic smirked.

The Typhoon extended it stabilizer fins and descends toward the watery surface below.

"Splashdown!" Tails said.

Soon, the Typhoon landed on the surface of the water, and everyone climbed into small submarines that were set up on the runway. As Tails was about to climb into his shuttle, Sonic frantically held up the book to him.

"You must have made a wrong turn, Tails! The guidebook says this planet's dry." Sonic said.

"Don't blame me, Sonic." Tails said and climbed into his sub. "Sounds like your galactic guidebook's seriously out of date."

"There's way too much water here! I hate water..."

"Don't sweat it, Sonic." someone said and Sonic looked up to see Chris welding two of the subs together. "I have a way for you to stay dry even when you're underwater. You're not afraid of submarines, are you?"

Sonic sweat dropped.

"Launch the subs!" Tails said and he subs moved forward and fell into the water, and Sonic cringed as he entered the water.

"Uh-on. Sonic's looking pretty seasick." Chris said to himself. "Lucky for me we're riding in separate compartments." he said then saw a group of fish swimming directly toward his sub. "Whaah! Oh no!"

Chris steered the sub away from the fish, sending him into an uncontrollable spiral.

At the shore the subs were now beached, and Knuckles, Amy, Cream, and Cosmo were standing together.

"Are you sure the Planet Egg's somewhere nearby?" Amy asked.

"I couldn't be surer." Knuckles said.

"What makes you so certain we'll find it here, Knuckles?" Cosmo asked.

"Because I've got a natural knack for finding things."

"...Oh."

Then Knuckles pulled out his Shovel Claws.

"I'll show ya." he said and promptly started digging on the beach in search of the Planet Egg.

"Why don't we dig for the Planet Egg too?" she said and Cosmo also pulled a small rake from the bucket.

"Ah!"

Soon they were hard at work.

But all it was was some seashells. Amy tapped her head, then put her hands on her hips.

"This is gonna be a long day." she said and walked away.

"You don't think Sonic and Chris have run into some kind of trouble, have you?" Cosmo asked.

"Wouldn't be surprised." Cream said.

Meanwhile, Chris' and Sonic's sub finally emerged. The pilots opened their hatches, and Sonic panted.

"Sorry..." Chris said and looked around. "Where are we?" he said looking ahead and sees an island. "Hey, look!" he said seeing a large tower on the island then helped Sonic out of the sub and onto the beach. "Sonic, come on. You're safe now."

But they realized that they were far from fine. There were several fish-like Metarex in front of them.

"They're Metarex!" Sonic said.

"Yeah, and whoever sent 'em here designed them especially for the water!" Chris said.

"Right. I bet their boss stole the Planet Egg and turned this place into a water world." he said and Chris let go of Sonic. "I knew there was somethin' fishy goin' on."

As the Metarex Gillmen beard down on the, Sonic tossed some aside and punched and kicked others.

"Run while you have the chance!" Sonic said.

"I'm not afraid! I've got a black belt in karate now!" Chris said.

"You know karate?"

Even the Gillmen looked confused and Chris moved his hands in karate-like positions.

"Tanaka gave me martial arts lessons. I'll chop through these fishy freaks and turn 'em into sushi!" he said confident and approached the Gillmen.

Then he punched one of the Metarex Gillmen but wasn't even fazed.

Chris attempted to kick the Gillman, but his leg did quite so Sonic kicked it with ease.

"Quit kiddin' around, Chris!" he said while Chris was chased by two Gillmen.

"I'm not a kid!" he said.

"Get goin'! I'll take care of 'em!" Sonic said then tapped his medallion to get his guitar and continued fighting the gillmen.

"Don't you want me to help you?!" he asked watching Sonic casually held back a Gillman then got it with a laser.

"That's okay. Leave the fightin' to the experts, Chris." he said and threw away the Gillman as Chris kept running.

"No wonder Sonic doesn't believe me. I have the skills of an eighteen-year-old, the strength of a twelve-year-old! Maybe I can stop these things with a surprise counterattack!" he said to himself then stopped and punched one of the Metarex Gillmen but did no damage it, and his hand started to swell. "Aahh!" he said and held his hand, and the Gillmen took this as their opportunity to strike.

Then Sonic pushed Chris into the water just as the Gillmen strike and immediately spun into a ball and launched all the Gillmen away.

"Get help!" he said then got it with his laser again then a Gillman started to climb out of the water behind him as Chris made it back to the sub.

"But Sonic..." he started.

"Get in that sub and get goin'!"

"Look behind you!"

Standing right behind Sonic was a giant Metarex that roared and Sonic knew it it picked him up and threw him out into the water. He surfaced and started panicking.

"Just don't panic!" Chris said and a large device emerged from the tower and aimed itself at Sonic then fired a tethered net ensnaring him. "They got him..." he said and the tethered net quickly withdrawer, hoisting Sonic into the air. "Just hold on, Sonic! I'm comin' for ya!"

Then a fresh batch of Metarex Gillmen leapt into the water.

"Go before the Metarex get you!" Sonic said.

"I won't leave you!" Chris aid and the Gillmen closed in on him.

"You have to! If they catch you, neither one of us will survive!" he said and Chris watched the Gillmen approach.

Then he saw what happened with the Sonic Tonic.

Just as the Swatbots were about to attack, Sonic arrived in his van, ramming the Swatbots over.

"Everybody chill, the hedgehog's here! Let Manic and Sonia go, and I'll let you have the Sonic Tonic." he said.

"Robotnik doesn't want it. He has no use for something that doesn't-" Sleet started but was stopped.

"Looks like I need a plan B!"

"Grab him Dingo!"

He avoided Dingo, and caused him to run into a Swatbot. Then, he ran up to the top of the tower.

"At the pyramid! After him!" Sleet said.

Meanwhile, Manic and Sonia struggled to stand up.

"C'mon! Those two aren't going anywhere! Not on those feet!" Sleet said and laughed.

"Sonia! Manic! Try to get away!" he shouted from high up.

"No way bro! Not on these two feet!" Manic said.

"Save yourself Sonic!" Sonia said.

"Bummer mejoras! They can't even stand up!" he said and grabbed onto the Tonic. "This stuff is really dangerous!" he said and threw it into a small pool. "Maybe some Sonic Underground sounds would get through to 'em."

Then he came back got back to work.

Chris watched the Gillmen approach.

"...All right, I'll go." Chris said closed the hatch just as three Gillmen leapt onto his su and drove away, shaking them off. "You hang in there, Sonic." he said to himself.

Sonic watched as Chris submerged.

Chris was climbing into one of the spaceships hangar with Tails standing nearby.

"Sonic was captured?!" Tails said.

"Yeah, but I'm going back to rescue him."

"By yourself?! There's no way, Chris!"

"Trust me. I know what I'm doing, Tails." Chris said and climbed inside the craft. "No you don't!" he shouted.

"I do!" he said and Tails took a few steps forward.

"But what's your plan, Chris?" he asked.

"I'll fly back to where Sonic is and I- Uh... I don't know." he said determined.

"We can save Sonic if we use teamwork. There's no reason for you to go in all alone, okay?"

"Okay." Chris said and climbed out of the spaceship as Tails' comlink buzzed.

"This is the Blue Typhoon. Over." he said on comlink.

Amy was in an underground room on the island with mysterious people near her.

"It's Amy. I'm calling from under the island." she said on comlink.

"I have some bad news about Sonic." Tails said.

"He got captured."

"How'd you find that out?"

"I just made a whole bunch of new friends. They saw the Metarex capturing Sonic."

"We gotta go rescue 'em, Amy!" Chris said over comlik.

"I'll take care of it, Chris. These folks will show me where Sonic's being held. When he sees me coming, his heart will start pounding faster than my hammer!" she said and drew he hammer.

Later at the Blue Typhoon Hangar.

"Thanks for saving me, Amy." "My pleasure, Sonic." Amy said when hearts appeared on the screen. ""Amy, you're the most beautiful girl in the universe." "Oh Sonic, really?" "Now I see what a fool I've been for waiting so long, Amy! Will you marry me?" "Oh, Sonic! Of course I will!""

Tails and Chris cringed as they listened to Amy.

"Excuse me?" Chris said over comlink.

"Is that you, Sonic?" Amy asked.

"No, it's me, Chris! We have to rescue Sonic right away, Amy!" he said exasperated.

"What do you mean, "we"?! I don't need a chaperone!" she shouted.

"O-Okay." Chris said backing away a little.

"Tails, I'll need some time to set Sonic free. Pick us up in the X-Tornado in an hour. Got it?"

"Sure, Amy." Tails said and closed the comm.

"Need any help getting the X-Tornado ready?" Chris asked and wiped himself realizing he was dirty.

"I don't think so, Chris. Why don't you go take a rest?" Tails said. "You might want to wash up a bit, too."

Later, Chris was taking a shower thinking as he dried his hair. Later, he was lying in bed.

"I learned so much in the past six years." he said and saw him and Danny studying is shown then saw Tanaka teaching him karate. "I got self-confidence when Tanaka taught me self-defense." he said. "Grandpa gave me flying lessons, and helped me get my pilot's license." he said and saw him flying a plane with Chuck sitting behind him. "I even got a part-time job after school so I could get work experience." he said watching himself work at a restaurant. "But now it's like I'm back where I was six years ago." he said to himself laying in bed.

Then he saw Sonic earlier that day.

"Leave the fightin' to the experts, Chris." Sonic said.

"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come after all." he said to himself and closed his eyes.

As he dozed off he saw Sonic fighting and dodging missiles.

"Sonic and the others don't need my help." he said.

Then he saw Knuckles attacking Chaos, Amy attempting to break out of Pumpty, and Tails pulling a lever.

"They all have incredible powers and Sonic has his medallion to. Every time we get into trouble, one of them jumps into action and saves the day... and I just stand there watching." he said and saw Cream and Cheese fighting Emerl. "I want to help, but what can I do? Even Cream and Cheese can do more than I can." he said, rolled over and opened his eyes. "I may as well face it - I'm totally useless, and I should've stayed home." he said. "But something told me that Sonic was in danger. That's why I had to come here. I had to."

In a flashback at Station Square roadside cafe he and Helen were sitting together and Chris was working on a blueprint.

"Are those your new designs, Chris?" Helen asked.

"Well, they're... just some ideas." he said.

"Let me see." she said and he handed her the blueprint to be for a ring barrier and a shoe resembling Sonic's shoes. "Hm... interesting. ...What's this?"

"It doesn't have a name yet, but if it works, it could help Sonic get energy wherever he needs it out in space."

"And this?"

"Those are speed shoes. The soles are made from a special compound that helps the shoe grip the ground while at the same time producing-" he started and Helen giggled. "Maybe they're all silly."

"I think they're all wonderful." she said.

"You do." he said and chuckled while she nodded.

"I do."

Back at the Blue Typhoon Chris bolts up in bed.

"I have learned a lot in six years, and Sonic does need me. I can help him. He wants to get back to his family so he needs as much help as he can get." he said and got out of bed, puts his shoes on, and sat down at his computer. "Even if he doesn't want it he needs."

Outside the Metarex base two Metarex Gillmen patrol the outside of the base, Amy spied on them. Several Secco inhabitants were standing behind her, along with the Secco Elder.

"This is the only entrance. I'm afraid it will be impossible to reach your friend." Secco Elder said.

"I'll get in." Amy said.

"How can you?"

"I'll use a little friendly persuasion."

"I warn you - those guards are vicious."

"So am I." Amy said brandishing her hammer and charged headlong toward the Metarex Gillmen.

Inside Sonic was tied to the line of a giant fishing pole which was being managed by Gillman's Boss, who was taunting him by raising and lowering him above a giant aquarium.

A giant shark leapt out of the water and tried to eat Sonic, but the he swung himself out of the way.

"Hey, pal. If you're hungry, let's order a pizza!" he said.

"Sonic!" someone said.

Amy ran up the stairs inside the base, hammering numerous Gillmen out of the way.

At the Blue Typhoon Tails pulled open a hatch, revealing a chute that lead from the bridge to the hangar. Then he descended the chute and landed inside the X-Tornado, which has just been positioned underneath the chute.

"Okay, guys. I'm coming to get ya." he said and an elevator moved the X-Tornado forward, then up a shaft that lead to the runway.

One by one, the palm trees lining the runway fold back, just as they did back at Chris' house.

"Begin launch sequence!" he said and a mechanism gripped the front wheel of the X-Tornado. "Catapult ready... Launch!"

As the X-Tornado's engine ignite, the catapult propelled the X-Tornado forward, allowing to take off very quickly. While it passed by Chris' window, Chris looked up for a moment before continuing to write.

Inside the Metarex base Amy hammered down the door to the room Sonic was being held prisoner in, she panted a little before noticing him.

"There's my sweetie!" she said and toward him, who sweatdrops and started swinging himself back and forth, leapt out to hug him, but missed and fell into the aquarium. "You're supposed to catch me!" she said mad.

"Oh, sorry... Amy, look out." he said.

A shark popped up behind her, who hammers it without looking. Then she leapt out of the aquarium and landed before hammering the Metarex away from the fishing pole.

"Come on! We got a plane to catch!" she said and without bothering to untie Sonic, Amy ripped the fishing pole from its post and ran down the stairs, causing him to bounce down the stairs behind her.

As they continued to descend the spiraling staircase, they noticed Metarex Gillmen coming from behind and in front of them, forcing Amy to stop.

"Amy!" someone said.

Amy hammered a hole in the wall then leapt through and toward the water with Sonic in tow. Then she landed on top of the passing X-Tornado.

"I'm heading back to the Blue Typhoon!" Tails said.

"Roger!" Amy said while Sonic was being pulled through the air by the X-Tornado's speed.

"Now that I'm free, how about untying me?" he said.

As they flew away, the tower fired several flipper-shaped missiles at them but Tails dodged them.

"Missed me!" he said taunting.

"Oh!" Amy said and they both looked back to see that Sonic wasn't on the line.

"Sonic!" Tails said.

"Next time you want to rescue me, don't!" he said still bound and free-falling toward the ocean.

Then a jet swooped in nearby being piloted by Chris.

"Hey, Sonic!" Chris said.

"That's Chris!" he said.

"Try these!" Chris said and fired a glowing pink object toward Sonic.

It collided with his shoes, transforming them. Then Sonic landed in the ocean and The X-Tornado turned around.

"Where is he?" Tails asked

When the giant water plume cleared, they saw Sonic hovering above the surface of the water with his arms unbound shocking Tails and Amy.

"How's he doing that?" Amy asked while the X-Tornado and Chris spaceship flew side-by-side.

"Thanks for the lift, pal!" Sonic said and put his guitar away.

"They're Hover Shoes, Amy! Now that's an inventive invention!" Tails said.

"Thanks, Tails." Chris said.

"Guys, look! More Metarex on the way!" Amy said.

Sure enough, an army of Metarex Gillmen were approaching Sonic over the water. Sonic used his new hover shoes to skate toward them.

'I feel like I'm being Shadow right now.' he thought.

"Now that I can stay dry, those fish heads are washed up!" he said and knocked away rows of Gillmen, but one fired an array of missiles at him.

Then they exploded around him, and he hovered on the resulting wave. They fired lasers out of its mouth, and attacked with flipper missiles and Sonic dodged.

He blew through the missiles, then directly target them. Once hit, the giant Metarex exploded. The others looked down as Sonic smirked.

"Couldn't have done it without ya, Chris!" Sonic said and Chris nodded while Amy spotted something below.

Chris nods. Amy spotted something below.

"The Planet Egg!" she said.

Then they saw a bright glow in the water. It sunk into the water, and the entire planet Secco was enveloped in the light.

"Part of the mission accomplished!" Tails said as the water started to recede.

As a result of the Planet Egg's restoration, the water begins to recede.

"Oh, we have our land back! I can't believe it! Amazing!" Secco Natives said and watched as the receding water revealed a futuristic city. "Our planet's returning to normal."

On the island Cosmo had been sleeping on one of the sand dunes until now.

"I must have fallen asleep." Cosmo said and Cream and Cheese were behind her.

They were both surprised to see that the water had receded. Cream and Cheese noticed something glowing in the distance.

"Chao chao chao chao!" Cheese said.

"Cheese, what's the- they found it!" Cream said and they raced toward the city came.

"Wait up!" Cosmo said.

Soon, both of them were standing over the glowing object - the city. Knuckles joined them in a moment.

Once they landed, Sonic was feeling the solid ground under his feet and now wearing his normal shoes, holding a canister containing his hover shoes.

"This feels fantastic! Back on solid ground!" he said and laughed. "These shoes are great! Hold on to 'em for me, will ya?" he said and tossed the canister to Chris.

"If you like the shoes, I got some other stuff you can try." Chris said smiling.

"Will do!" he said and Chris returned the thumbs-up with a wink. "Come on; I'll race you back to the blue Typhoon!"

Everyone looked on as Sonic traversed the rocky desert atmosphere of Planet Secco.
