58. Chapter 58

Maya looked at Riley as she said, "Well you see I got artificially inseminated at this place and..." Then Riley cut Maya off and said, "Maya, stop lying to me. You too Lucas. I know you both have been having sex behind my back." Maya and Lucas both looked shocked as they said, "What?" Riley then said, "I've seen how you two look at each other. I knew there was always a hidden flame you both had. But... you both could've just told me the truth earlier on. If you had, I would've stepped aside. But now... now I know my two best friends in the world are terrible people!" Lucas then said, "Riley. We're sorry but..." Tears appeared in Riley's eyes as she said, "No more buts Lucas. And screw our friendship Maya. You both have hurt me in ways you'll never know!" Then Riley bolted out of Lucas' bedroom crying. Riley began to run down a long sidewalk in the dark not knowing where she was going. Her husband had cheated on her with her best friend. If they could betray her, then in Riley's mind: she couldn't trust anybody anymore. Riley than ran over the edge of a bridge, and looked at a raging river beneath her. Riley closed her eyes and began to cry as she said, "I don't wanna live anymore." Riley then jumped off the bridge and then suddenly... she was awake in her bed. Riley looked around and said to herself, "Phew. It was all a dream." Then Riley looked at her nearby calendar and said, "But... prom is still tomorrow night. Meaning all those things I dreamed about might still happen." Then suddenly Riley's phone rang. Riley answered it and said, "Hello? Lucas, great to... what? Oh. Oh my. I... Okay. Well... I hope you feel better." Riley then hung up her phone and said to herself, "Lucas just told me he was sick. Just like in my dream. So now I have the choice again of whether to take care of Lucas at home either by myself or with Maya, or go to prom with Maya, or go to prom alone. Well... all I know for sure is... I won't make the same choices this time."
