Por Try Another Time
The first rays of the sun began to enter the boy's room. A new day had begun for all those at Hogwarts, although not a single one expected the events that were going to take place that day. Events that would affect the futures of many young inheritors of the title of lord or lady of several families.
One of these young men was Neville. The young heir opened his eyes as he felt the branches of a plant pinching his face. "Eve. Let me sleep for five more minutes. I'm too tired."
The little dryad was very upset with her partner. Although they had been fighting monsters in Azkaban the night before, this did not give Neville the freedom to escape his daily training routine. From within her little flowerpot, Eve spreads several branches and vines which she then used to catch her companion.
"Crap." Neville feels how his body is lifted from his bed before being held upside down. The young heir turns his sight toward his small familiar who doesn't seem very happy at the moment. "All right, I'll train. Can you put me down?"
Eve didn't obey and shakes him a couple of times to get her point across.
"I'm sorry. I understand you're upset. I promise I won't do it again." Neville understood the meaning behind her actions even though she didn't speak. Her actions and facial expressions were effective enough to communicate her opinions or thoughts.
Eve's actions could seem crude and rebellious to the eyes of others but to her companion, they were ways in which to communicate. It was the same for other members of the group and their familiars. Hedwig was prone to pecking Harry if he didn't feed her on time. Leonidas usually bites Gabrielle's hands when he wants to play with her. Each familiar acted in different ways to communicate their desires and thoughts with their partners.
Eve stops shaking the boy and then stares at him. Neville pleads for forgiveness once more and then she releases him which leads to the boy falling headfirst into the floor.
"Really? Was all that necessary?" Neville asks as he stands up feeling a little sore.
Eve nods. The dryad waits for her partner to approach her before moving her body to the flower on Neville's wrist.
"Aren't you going to apologize?" Asks the young man while raising his wrist to his face.
Eve shakes her head before pointing to Harry's bed.
Neville sighs. "This is my fault, isn't it? I raise you this way, so you do what you want without any sign of regret." The young man advances toward his friend's bed.
On the way to the bed, he passes by Hedwig who is waking up from her slumber. The owl looks around the room for a few seconds before focusing her attention on Harry's bed. She was hungry and ready to peck his face if he didn't provide her with food.
Neville gets as close as he can to the bed before speaking. "Sleeping beauties wake up. Luna, me and Harry need to train." He couldn't hear nor see what was happening behind those curtains. It was also impossible for him to move them aside since they possessed several spells to maintain the boy's privacy.
While he was waiting for Harry and Ignis, Neville looks around the rest of the room. Lee Jordan was still sleeping like a baby. Ron Weasley was also in the same situation, yet his body looked like a corpse that was thrown into the bed without a care in the world. Both would surely not wake up until 8 a.m.
"Surely they spent all their energies on yesterday's celebrations." Neville thought as he looked at the other two young men. Lee was a pretty friendly guy, so Neville talked to him on many occasions. The young man had a future as a commentator, which would possibly keep him close to Quidditch matches for the rest of his life, or perhaps his path would lead him to look for work in businesses more affiliated with Muggles such as television. His knowledge of sports like football was something Neville quickly notice and found enjoyable.
On the other hand, Ron was a peculiar case. He was Ginny's and the Weasley twins' brother, but he wasn't someone he could easily connect with. The young man was very immature, though that could be expected for his age.
Neville was the same age, but he lived in a different world than Ron. He was an heir to a title and the next head of his family. He had been under a rigorous training regime since an early age alongside Harry. His mind had matured as it was necessary for his future and he had to be careful about his actions.
Very soon, he and Harry would be entering a stage of their lives in which they would be forced to travel and endure several days of meeting different business partners and associates from different places around the globe. They needed to act in certain ways and think very carefully about how to approach such people.
While Neville had to think about things such as these, Ron was still focused on things like which Hogwarts house was the best? He doubts that Ron would know anything about soccer either. They live in two separate spheres which led to them almost no talking at all. Neville still liked a few things that any other child his age would enjoy, but a person's personality and mindset can make the difference between whether it was possible to form a friendship or not.
The young man's thoughts were set aside once the curtains began to move. Neville holds his laugh back as he notices the kiss and bite marks on Harry's neck. "Let me guess, she didn't let you sleep until she was satisfied?"
Harry smiles back. "These aren't from last night. She'd was awake for far longer than you and didn't miss the opportunity to leave me with a departure gift. Also, Violet says hi."
Neville lets a small laugh escape his lips. "The others will take revenge against her one of these days and you too will suffer for letting yourself being dragged into these situations. I'm don't envy your life man."
"Yet I wouldn't trade it for anything." Harry stands up and sets out to prepare for a new morning.
"Ignis are you up to bet some food over his fate for this morning training?" Neville looks at the dragon.
"Nope. We both know the result and we don't even see the future." Ignis retorts.
Sometime later.
Neville could only laugh and hold his stomach as he watches the awaited resolution of Harry's love life. "Run Harry! Don't stop now."
Harry kept running and jumping away to escape the attacks of the girls. Each one was charged with the jealousy and frustration they felt after seeing his neck. Luna was a bringer of chaos within the group and that wasn't going to change anytime soon.
"Keep running. That counts as your warm-up this day." Neville smiles one more time before choosing to begin his training routine.
It was just another morning for everyone at Hogwarts… yet they weren't ready for what was going to happen.
Meanwhile, Wizengamot.
The different heads of the Wizengamot walked through the corridors of their building. They expected this morning to be like any other but something strange was going on with the staff.
The security staff seemed scared for some reason, but they claimed that everything was fine. They even try to avoid the heads of the Wizengamot. The rest of the staff were acting just as strange, but nobody said anything. The lords and ladies tried to get any information, but their staff members evade or ignored the questions.
Cornelius Fudge kept walking while being followed by the other lords. "Surely they read something in the newspaper that is making them act so strange. AlthoughI don't remember reading anything that could cause such reactions. Stupid servants."
Cornelius and the other heads also noticed the absence of certain members such as the heads of the Black, Longbottom, and even the Malfoy family for some reason yet they didn't care enough to investigate.
The small trip was suddenly interrupted once they saw a certain group of people guarding the doors leading to the Wizengamot's representative chamber. A group of at least 20 well-armed knights was waiting for them.
"The royal guard? Why are Muggles troops inside the Wizengamot?" Fudge approaches the knights with his left hand staying close to his wand. "What business do you muggles have within our building?"
The leader of the knights unsheathes his sword with ease and puts it right to the neck of Fudge. "First move your hand away from that wand or you'll lose it. Second, save your questions and come inside. Lords and ladies, your queen awaits you. So, you better watch out how you talk and keep your hands away from your wands at all times. Understood?" The leader asks.
The lords and ladies nod in agreement while Fudge removes his hand from his wand. "Good now get inside."
The heads of the Wizengamot began to cross the doors one by one. Many of them were confident in their abilities but that did not mean that those closest to the queen were muggles easy to deal with. There were also differences in troop numbers. A wrong move and the Wizengamot would be surrounded by millions of troops from the crown. Their bank accounts would also be frozen since Gringotts considered the crown interests above the wizards thus leaving them penniless if they were able to escape.
This was a troublesome situation so each of them advances while waiting for the best possible outcome. Their minds tried to think about the possible reason behind the queen's visit.
Perhaps it was the multiple laws that ignored the nation's principles like the acceptance of all races. Perhaps she had come to visit upon learning of the multiple illegal movements and transactions that some families had been doing for some time or maybe it was something much worse.
The stressful walk continues for a few more minutes.
Their eyes quickly focused on their queen and the various roundtable member who accompanied her. Lancelot, Galahad, Geraint, and Lamorak were the only four presents.
Each of the roundtable members seemed angry for some reason. The members of the Wizengamot also noticed something covered under blankets on the floor in front of the queen and gentlemen.
"Your Majesty-" Fudge said while bowing.
"Stay quiet and take a seat," Geraint said.
Members of the Wizengamot felt that their situation was not going to improve. Each began to walk to their seats. The absence of more Wizengamot members became obvious after everyone saw how many empty seats the dark faction of the Wizengamot had. Lucius wasn't the only lord missing.
Elizabeth sighs after seeing the absence of so many people. Her suspicions seemed to have come true. "For many years, the Wizengamot was given many chances to fix their problems and become an institution that does its job, yet the time has come for me to act. Members of the Wizengamot, each one of you is under arrest and considered possible traitors of the nation until proven otherwise."
The hearts of many Wizengamot members stopped after they heard these words. Suddenly, several people covered by red hoods descended from the ceiling or came outside the shadows. These agents place themselves behind each of the members of the Wizengamot. Swords were unsheathed and place around the necks of each of the Lords and Ladies.
"Your Majesty, what is all this? None of us would dare to betray the crown." Fudge screams. He feels the edge of a sword on his neck. "These people must be agents under Mordred's orders. These people must be members of The Order of the Crimson Knight. I can't believe that muggles are this effective." Fudge thought.
"An explanation is necessary for each of you to understand the situation in which you find yourselves. Last night, a group of our allies infiltrated Azkaban." Elizabeth said.
"Azkaban? How dare-" another of those present tried to speak, but the sword on his neck was pressed deeper which caused him a small wound. "I apologize my queen."
Elizabeth shows disappointment toward the actions of these people. "Keep quiet and listen. That group went into Azkaban to confirm some information related to a certain individual we know very well. Voldemort was in Azkaban or rather he had taken control of the same prison that you called 'impenetrable' and 'fully secure.'"
The Wizards were in shock after hearing such revelations. Fudge in particular still refused to talk about Voldemort in public. He couldn't believe that even without a body, the bastard was still hanging around and causing more problems for them. The fact that Elizabeth mentions that Voldemort not only infiltrated the building but also took control of it made the claim even worse.
"Your faces confirm to us that you don't even know what goes on within your own jail. To make you realize the cruel reality of this problem we want you to focus your eyes on this thing." Lamorak approaches the blanket that covered the creature they had brought with them.
All eyes turned toward the creature. A being who was once human and now was an immortal monster without a soul or the ability to think for itself. A husk that would continue to fight for a man that didn't care about the consequences of his actions.
"This creature was once a prisoner of Azkaban and maybe even a family member of one of yours. The team that infiltrated the building found many creatures just like these ones and confirmed the fact that the dementors were supporting Voldemort. It also seems that these things can be made even stronger." Lancelot approaches the creature. Once she was close enough, she lifted her spear which for some reason was bandaged by some kind of violet cloth and pierced the head of the creature with ease.
The dark blood of the creature was splatter around the floor and many wanted to throw up after seeing such a thing. They were horrified after seeing the body of the creature. It seemed human in some ways, but it was too deformed to being even considered one. Its eyes were dead and lacked any sense of life force or will to live.
Lancelot pulls the spear out of the creature and the body falls to the floor. A few seconds pass by and then the injury is close up within seconds. Once more the creature moves around trying to escape from its restraints.
"Do you understand what this can mean for our country? What do you think is going to happen when another nation finds one of these things within its borders? Are we supposed to lie and denied any responsibility for these things? Voldemort is a problem that you haven't solved in all of these years, and it just seems to get worse by the day. We are also sure that some of you have supported this terrorist in the past and the present. The absence of several members is perhaps the most obvious proof." Lamorak said.
"Before you can ask for an investigation you should know that Azkaban was destroyed," Geraint says while he looks at them. "The group that infiltrated showed us their memories and we have also sent a group to investigate the area. They chose to destroy the island to prevent more problems for us. Azkaban no longer exists."
Members of the Wizengamot trembled after all of this. A group capable of defeating these creatures, fighting dementors, and erasing a whole island is something that they didn't expect. Also hearing the fact that they were allies of the crown made them even more scared.
"For the next 48 to 72 hours we will keep you under arrest while we question each of you. Your homes, lives, bank transactions, and everything that's connected to you will also be investigated. Those members who do not show their faces within the next 24 hours will be in serious trouble." Geraint explains. "If none of you have a connection to Voldemort or his group you will be released, but if we find something that connects you to Voldemort the consequences will be decided base on the laws of our nation. Treason is a high crime and execution is still a possibility for any who is found guilty."
"Once the investigations are over the Wizengamot will never regain its full powers. Many rules will change right away. Several agents appointed by Geraint will regulate the activities and decisions of the Wizengamot from now on." Elizabeth looks at each of those present with disappointment. "Your ancestors wanted to demonstrate their ability to act on their own without their intervention of Muggles. Even after so long, this institution remains a failure."
The faces of the Wizengamot members were in distress. Many of those present owned certain businesses which were kept hidden from the eyes of others. Other members practiced things that were not the most 'legal' in the eyes of the international community. Above all the rest several of those presently possessed ties to Voldemort that were kept in secret.
They had once evaded prison by using different tactics to distance themselves from Voldemort.
"You will never take me alive!" One of the lords exclaimed as he tried to escape the clutches of the agent who had his sword placed around his neck. The agent had no trouble keeping the lord under control.
The other members of the Wizengamot were shocked after seeing their partner break down.
Lancelot turned her sight towards the lord. "Agent let him go. I wanna see what he's capable of."
The red hooded agent lets go of the wizard who quickly pulls out his wand and started aiming it against the roundtable members. "Imbeciles! All of you are just beasts that call yourselves humans. Every single one of you thinks that you're stronger than us because you have a larger number than us. Muggles have never appreciated us and have always seen us as inferior beings when in reality we are the strongest. I'll never put my head down before that stupid girl who only won the crown for being chosen by that cursed sword."
"So those are your true thoughts," Elizabeth says while looking at the Lord. "Do you interpret the benefits your family has received for all these generations as insufficient? Your title? Your mansion? The fortune your family has earned for several generations while serving the crown and this nation? Tell me your thoughts, Lord Yaxley. Tell me your true feelings."
"You are a stupid girl who has never seen our potential. The world must be ruled by those who have power. We pure-blooded wizards must be those who lead the world. You Muggles will sooner or later destroy each other while also destroying the rest of the world. Only we the pure-blooded chosen ones must govern. Avada Kedavra." The insane traitor points his wand toward Elizabeth before shooting his spell.
*Dies Irae - Giuseppe Verdi*
The spell was getting closer and closer to Elizabeth until the queen unsheathes her sword. "If you think you can kill me so easily, you must have lost all of your sanity." Elizabeth uses Caliburn to block the spell completely. The golden sword shines and emanates some kind of energy. "Geraint, pass your judgment upon this traitor."
"Those who raise their weapons against the queen and admit treason have sealed their fates. Death is your sentence. Lancelot is all yours." Geraint showed not a shred of mercy towards the traitor who tried to kill his queen.
"I can finally use this. Roar my spear and consume my enemies, cursed spear-Gae Bulg." A dark aura began to emerge from the spear. The cloth that covered it began to disappear on its own until the beast was revealed to the eyes of those present.
"This can't be real!" Yaxley screams as he tries to escape. "She is-" But before the traitor could use another spell his body was pierced by Lancelot's weapon. She was too fast and the most lethal of all of those present.
"You know I love fighting. You could say it's an addiction of mine, but I'm not stupid and I haven't lost my mind. People like you and everyone who has died by my hands are a danger to my nation. So, die knowing that you were executed by me." Lancelot said. Her spear pierced Lord Yaxley's heart with ease.
Yaxley felt how his body was being destroyed by some kind of power coming from the spear. His organs were being destroyed one after the other until his last breath escaped his mouth.
Lancelot removes her spear from his body before shaking it, which scattered Yaxley's blood throughout the room.
Fudge felt how the drops of blood covered his face. His heart was racing. "That spear. That power, magic? How can this be possible?"
"You have always considered the royal family and roundtable members families as Muggles. We didn't think you would ignore the possibility of a wizard one of the heads of the roundtable. Members of the Wizengamot, I present her to you once more, Lady Angelica Lancelot, one of the many members of the round table with magic who have long concealed their powers for generations." Elizabeth's words shook the Wizengamot to their cores. A roundtable member was a wizard? The only wizard within the roundtable was supposed to be Merlin and his descendants but it had been many generations since one of his descendants took the position. This was something nobody expected.
"I hope that Lord Yaxley was the only traitor among you and one last thing. Don't try anything against Harry Potter or his allies. If any of you try to touch that kid, I will execute you on the spot. Take them away." Elizabeth says. Her eyes showed only anger.
Members of the Wizengamot were handcuffed, their wands confiscated and one by one they were removed from the building. A new era for the Wizengamot had begun.
Back at Hogwarts.
Although the morning had begun peacefully everything had changed when several hooded Crimson knights had appeared at Hogwarts.
"By orders of the queen and the members of the roundtable, the heirs of the following families shall come with us. Please cooperate with the orders." The group leader said when she handed over several documents to Dumbledore. A long list of students' names was among those documents.
The result of this event led to the cancellation of classes for the rest of the day while several students were taken out of school by Knights. Harry and the others did not expect such an event, but Sirius' arrival would possibly offer them the answers they were looking for.
Now, Harry, Neville, and the girls were sitting inside one of the classrooms alongside Sirius and some of the girls' guardians. Everything was in silence until Neville began to ask questions.
"What is all this? I don't recognize the order of those knights and I don't understand what's going on with all those students." Neville expected answers and the adults were the only ones capable of answering them.
"Those knights are under Mordred's orders. They are his agents and they came to collect the heirs of the Wizengamot families except for the rest of you." Daphne's father started talking. "After what happened the night before some decisions were made."
"Dad, Luna didn't say anything about this to Harry. We need to know after all we are the ones that entered Azkaban." Daphne said. She could notice the dark marks under her father's eyes. It was proof she needed to know that her father had been under a lot of stress for several hours.
"I asked Luna to stay quiet because it is an issue that we must discuss in person. The roundtable has begun to take drastic actions against the Wizengamot." Sirius says.
"What happened in Azkaban was the drop that broke the glass. At this moment the other members of the Wizengamot must be under arrest and a large-scale investigation has started to take place. Quite possibly some heirs will not return to school." Neville's father said.
"Will they be executed for the treason? They are still kids and the sins of the father shouldn't follow their sons." Hermione knew what treason means within England. It was one of the worst crimes and although death sentences were uncommon for most crimes, treason usually ended up with execution.
"Heirs will be exempted, but their parents might be executed as the result of various charges that may be brought against them. Heirs will be forced to decide between swearing allegiance to the crown once again like their ancestors or will be forced to leave the country. If they agree to swear allegiance, they will be in the custody of a member of the roundtable and for the next few years must prove their loyalty until the crown deems them eligible to gain their titles. That's what we know." Lord Greengrass said.
The youngsters looked at each other in amazement. It was going to be hard for many teens to continue after having their parents executed for their crimes against the crown.
"What about us? Are we exempt from all this?" Parvati question.
"You are, but as the current heads of our families, we had to relinquish our powers and positions within the Wizengamot. Lovegood, Longbottom, Greengrass, Bones, Black, Potter, and all the other titles Harry possesses no longer have any position within the Wizengamot." Amelia Bones said sadly. "But this also brought its benefits. Those like me and Lord Greengrass who had degrees from Muggle institution can work with parliament under the direct orders of the crown. Several economic benefits were also granted to us in exchange for us maintaining direct collaboration with the crown." Amelia smiles for a moment, but her smile disappears. "There is also another situation in our hands."
"I imagine it's about us and what happened in Azkaban." Padma knew that their actions would not be ignored by the crown.
"That's right. The roundtable forbade us from moving and acting freely within England. No more battles or acts that could endanger the citizens of England. The spell that Hermione was one of the main 'problems' that the table encountered with our actions. The fact that we possess the strength to eliminate an island from the map and that each one of you is a kind of super magician requires a certain level of control in the eyes of the members of the roundtable. They are not afraid of us and do not consider us enemies, but they want to prevent ordinary people from being involved in our activities." Sirius explains.
The youngsters were silent. Each one of them was stronger than all the other students and quite possibly had surpassed Dumbledore if they ignored his wand. Even if they had complete control over their powers and abilities, it didn't mean that the members of the roundtable would believe them so easily. They knew how much damage they could do with their powers.
Yet someone knew that there was always an option. "What did they offer in exchange for giving us the freedom to act?" Nymphadora gets up from her seat and walks toward the window. If there is power, there is also a way to get what you want. "The crown wants to take care of Voldemort as much as we do and the fact that we were able to take care of all the enemies in Azkaban proved that we could eliminate him."
"There is one but if we accept the deal it would mean becoming a military unit acting directly with Mordred's orders. If Mordred decides that civilians are at risk or that the damage to a city is too big, we wouldn't be able to act. We would need confirmation each time we decided to act, and our movements would be closely tracked by the roundtable. There is also the possibility of being asked to get involved in situations that have nothing to do with our goals. But.." Sirius stops.
"Go on. We must know everything." Ignis gets upset. He hated the idea, but he knew that they would need some help no matter what.
"If we accept, we could act with his support outside of England. If Voldemort or his forces are found outside England, our actions against them would be considered as actions of England's army. We wouldn't be considered terrorists and if we need intelligence or any type of support, we can get it from them." Sirius thought carefully about what the deal could entail for their future.
"Do we really wanna do this? We only care about Voldemort. We have plans that don't involve becoming part of the military." Susan says.
"That's true but we might need their help in some cases. Eljun's power might not be enough to protect ourselves outside of England." Parvati continues.
"We have to think this carefully. We are allies of the crown, but we aren't members of the military." Minerva never thought about joining the army, but this situation was complicated.
Harry looks at each of his teammates. He could easily say yes or no but this is a decision he can't make on his own. "What did the members of Eljun's council say?"
Sirius appreciates the fact that the boy remembers his position above else. He takes out a letter from his coat. "These are the words of Eljun's council members."
'Distinguished young Potter. Since the death of your father and grandfather, we wanted to keep you and your sister away from danger because your lives are too important to the nation, but we understand the motives behind your actions. We have allowed Sirius to continue your rigorous training and have given you a limited age to resolve your personal affairs regarding Voldemort. Your age limit is your 20th birthday, and it remains the same so we recommend that you accept any option that facilitates the elimination of this enemy. Remember that we always expect you to make the necessary decisions to make a satisfactory transition from heir to a member of this council. If you need to start an alliance with England to eliminate Voldemort, you must be ready to sacrifice your childhood and some of your freedom. Don't forget that time doesn't stop for anyone. Good luck and remember that Eljun is your home.'
Harry remains silent as he thinks about what he's heard. He had only nine years until Eljun's council took steps to force him to stop his activities. He couldn't continue this fight forever. "Sirius give us a few days to make a decision. This is something we have to think carefully about."
"Understood, just think about it," Sirius said.
A new stage was about to begin for the group.
