(Ayla's POV)
*It's been a few days since we left Mobius. Right now, we were flying through space in the Blue Typhoon looking for any signs of a Chaos Emerald*
Cream: You detected one of the Chaos Emeralds?
Amy: Are you sure about this, Knuckles?
Knuckles: Yes, there's no doubt about it. I was in the engine room a few minutes ago when I saw the Master Emerald reacting to something. It must have been an Emerald.
Ayla: He's right. *everyone looked at me* I can feel a headache coming on and my heart's beating really fast. There's one nearby, I can feel it.
Shadow: Have you always been able to sense the Emeralds.
Sonic: Ever since she was in diapers.
Ayla: Why do you enjoy embarrassing me?
Sonic: You say embarrassing. I say, sweet, sweet revenge for all those diaper changes.
*I growled*
Amy:*to Tails* Check for a planet nearby.
Tails: Let's see.
*He pressed a button & a round holographic map of the galaxy appeared in the center of the room. Chris pointed to a planet very close to where we were*
Chris: There's one.
Cosmo: That's Planet Secco.
Sonic: And according to my galactic guidebook, it's dry as a bone.
*He jumped down from his seat & landed next to Chris*
Amy: Tails! We're gonna land on Planet Secco and find that Emerald. Let's go!
Tails: I'm supposed to give the orders.
Amy: Just do it.
*We soon arrived at Planet Secco. As we were landing, I noticed something weird*
Ayla: Looks awfully blue for a dry planet.
Chris: According to the scope, there's a lot of water on this world.
Sonic: Oh no! We can't land here! There's gotta be some kind of mistake!
Knuckles: Tough luck, Sonic.
*As we landed on the water's surface, the landing gear came out*
Tails: Splashdown!
*We skipped across the water & then came to a stop. Later, we were all on the landing pad, preparing to board submarines*
Sonic: You must've made a wrong turn, Tails. The guidebook says this planet's dry.
Tails:*entering the submarine* Don't blame me, Sonic. Sounds like your galactic guidebook is seriously out of date.
Sonic: There's way too much water here! I hate water . . .
Shadow:*whispering* Talk about pathetic.
Ayla:*whispering* You should have seen him when we went on a cruise back on Earth.
Chris: Don't sweat it, Sonic, I have a way for you to stay dry even when you're underwater. You're not afraid of submarines, are you?
*Sonic chuckled nervously*
Tails: Launch the subs!
*The first four subs went first. Shadow & I went with Chris & Sonic. As we went down, Sonic began looking scared. I looked at my brother, who wasn't looking very good*
Ayla:*in her mind* Uh oh. Sonic's starting to get seasick again. Lucky for us, we're in a separate compartment.
*We went deeper. Just then, a school of fish came swimming right towards us*
Chris: Aaah, oh no!
*He turned the steering wheel hard & the next thing I knew, we were going in circles. My tummy started feeling like it was being turned inside out*
Ayla:*in her mind* Now I'm getting seasick!
*We decided to take a break & went to the surface. Sonic was the first to get out & started coughing. Chris, Shadow, & I came out next*
Chris: Sorry.
Shadow: It's alright. Anybody would have been startled after that.
Chris: Where are we. *we all looked around & spotted a nearby island with a building on it* Hey, look!
Ayla: Land ho!
*We all went towards the island & Chris helped Sonic onto the beach*
Chris: Sonic, come on. You're safe now.
Shadow: Get a grip, faker.
*Suddenly, we were surrounded by robots whapped like giant walking red fish*
Ayla: Metarex!
Chris: Yeah, and whoever sent them here designed 'em especially for the water.
Sonic: Right. I bet their boss stole the planet egg and turned this place into a water world. I knew there was something fishy going on.
*The Metarex jumped at us. Sonic, Shadow & I punched & kicked away any robot that got close to us*
Shadow:*to Chris* You'd better leave now while you have the chance.
Chris: I'm not afraid. I've got a black belt in karate now.
Sonic: You know karate?
*The Metarex all looked at us confused*
Chris: Tanaka gave me martial arts lessons. I'll chop through these crazy freaks and turn 'em into sushi.
Ayla: I don't know, Chris. *he ignored me & walked towards the Metarex**in her mind* This isn't going to end well.
*Chris got into a defensive position & threw a punch at a Metarex in front of him, but it didn't do any damage. Next he tried a kick, but it didn't do anything either. Two of the Metarex started chasing him. Shadow & I face-palmed. Sonic kicked a Metarex in the face*
Sonic: Quit kidding around, Chris!
Chris: I'm not a kid!
*Me, Sonic, & Shadow all fought the Metarex. Some of them started chasing Chris*
Ayla: Just get going!
Sonic: We'll take care of em'!
Chris: Don't you want me to help you!?
Sonic:*holding a Metarex back* That's okay.
Shadow: Just let us handle this.
*Just then, Chris stopped running & punched a Metarex in the jaw*
Chris: Gotcha!
*But that just landed him with a red swelled up hand. Suddenly, the Metarex dogpiled him. Sonic & I pushed him out of the way*
Sonic: Go!
*Chris landed in the water. Using his spin dash, Sonic knocked all the Metarex off of us*
Ayla: Get help!
*Chris swam back to the submarine*
Chris: But, Ayla?
Shadow: Get in the sub and get going!
Chris: Look behind you!
*Suddenly, me & my brother were grabbed by a big blue fish Metarex with yellow fins. It threw us both into the water & Sonic started panicking. I swam to my brother & held him above the surface*
Ayla: It's okay, I've got you!
Chris: Just don't panic!
*Just then, a missile launcher came out of the ground & launched a net at us. The next thing I knew, we were both trapped in a net. I looked at Shadow & saw he had been caught by another net. The net pulled us out of the water*
Chris: Just hold on, Sonic and Ayla! I'm coming for ya!
*More Metarex dove into the water & swam towards the submarine*
Ayla: Go! Before the Metarex get you!
Chris: I won't leave you!
Sonic: You have to. If they catch you, none one of us will survive!
Chris:*looking at the approaching Metarex*
*Reluctantly, he got in the submarine & drove it away*
Ayla:*in her mind* Please hurry. Find help.
(Third-person POV)
*Chris made it back to the Blue Typhoon & immediately began working on a plane of his own*
Tails: Sonic, Ayla, & Shadow were captured!?
Chris: Yeah, but I'm going back to rescue them.
Tails: By yourself!? There's no way, Chris!
Chris: Trust me. I know what I'm doing, Tails.
Tails: No, you don't!
*He got in the plane*
Chris: I do!
Tails: But what's your plan, Chris?
Chris: I'll fly back to where they are, and I . . . Uh . . . I don't know.
Tails: We can save Sonic if we use teamwork, there's no reason for you to go it all alone, okay?
*Chris got out of the plane*
Chris: Okay.
*Tails' communicator watch started beeping. He answered it*
Tails: This is the Blue Typhoon. Over.
Amy:*off-screen* It's Amy. I'm calling from under the island.
Tails: I have some bad news, about Sonic.
Amy:*off-screen* He got captured with Ayla and Shadow.
Tails: How'd you find that out?
Amy:*off-screen* I just made a whole bunch of new friends, they saw the Metarex capturing Sonic, Ayla, and Shadow.
Chris: We gotta go rescue them, Amy!
Amy:*off-screen* I'll take care of it, Chris. These folks will show me where Sonic's being held. When he sees me coming, his heart will start pounding faster than my hammer! *imitating Sonic* Thanks for saving me, Amy. *real voice* My pleasure, Sonic! *imitating Sonic* Amy, you're the most beautiful girl in the universe! *real voice* Oh, Sonic, really!? * imitating Sonic* Now I see what a fool I've been for waiting so long, Amy, will you marry me!? *real voice* Oh Sonic, of course I will!
Chris: Excuse me?
Amy:*off-screen* Is that you, Sonic?
Chris: No, it's me, Chris! We have to rescue Sonic right away, Amy!
Amy:*off-screen* What do you mean, WE?! I don't need a chaperone!
Chris: Okay.
Amy:*off-screen* Tails, I'll need some time to set Sonic free. Pick us up in the X Tornado in an hour, got it?
Tails: Sure, Amy.
*He closed the watch*
Chris: Need any help getting the X Tornado ready?
Tails: I don't think so, Chris. Why don't you go take a rest? You might wanna wash up a bit, too.
*Chris rubbed his face & got dirt all over it*
*In his room, Chris was sulking*
Chris:*in his mind* I learned so much in the past six years. I got self-confidence when Tanaka taught me self-defense. Grandpa gave me flying lessons and helped me get my pilot's license. I even got a part-time job after school so I can get work experience. But now it's like I'm back where I was six years ago.
(Flashback)
Shadow: Just let us handle this.
(Present Time)
Chris:*in his mind* Sonic and the others don't need my help. They all have incredible powers. Every time we get into trouble, one of them jumps into action and saves the day. And I just stand there watching. I wanna help, but what can I do? Even Cream and Cheese can do more than I can. I may as well face it. I'm totally useless. And I should've stayed home.
(Flashback - Earth)
*A gust of wind knocked over a picture of Sonic, Ayla, Chris, Tails, & Amy*
Chris (18 yrs old): I'm coming.
(Present Time)
Chris (12 yrs old):*in his mind* But something told me Sonic and Ayla were in danger. That's why I had to come here. I had to.
(Flashback - Earth)
*Chris was at a cafe, talking to Helen*
Helen: Are those your new designs, Chris?
Chris (18 yrs old): Well, they're just some ideas.
Helen: Let me see. *he handed her a piece of paper* Hm, interesting. What's this?
Chris (18 yrs old): It doesn't have a name yet, but if it works, it could help Sonic get energy wherever he needs it out in space.
Helen: And this?
Chris (18 yrs old): Those are speed shoes. The soles are made from a special compound that helps the shoe grip the ground while at the same time reducing - *Helen giggled* Maybe they're all silly.
Helen: I think they're all wonderful.
Chris (18 yrs old): You do?
Helen: I do?
*Chris smiled at her*
(Present Time)
*Chris sat up from his bed, feeling a lot better*
Chris: I have learned a lot in six years, and Sonic does need me! I can help him!
*He went over to his desk & went to work*
*Amy was outside the Metarex base watching the guards pacing by the front gate. Standing behind her were people with purple skin, pointed ears, & dressed for living in the desert*
Elder: This is the only entrance. I'm afraid it will be impossible to reach your friends.
Amy: I'll get in.
Elder: How can you?
Amy: I'll use a little friendly persuasion.
Elder: I warn you, those guards are vicious!
Amy: So am I.
*She took out her hammer & ran towards the guards*
(Ayla's POV)
*Right now, me, Sonic, & Shadow were a tied together & being lowered into a pool of water by the boss Metarex, who holding a fishing rod. I couldn't do anything, because the boss had taken away my board & my Ring Blades. Suddenly, a shark jumped out of water & tried to bite us, but we dodged*
Sonic: Hey pal! If you're hungry, let's order a pizza!
Shadow: Sonic. This is no time for jokes.
Amy:*off-screen* Sonic!
Ayla: Huh? Amy?
*We all turned & saw Amy running towards us, knocking away any Metarex in her way. She then knocked down the door & smiled when she saw us*
Amy: There's my sweetie! *she ran towards & jumped. but Sonic dodged & she landed in the water* You're supposed to catch me!
Ayla: It's kinda hard to do that tied up.
Sonic: Amy, look out!
*The shark came up behind Amy, but she it & knocked it out. She then jumped out of the water, knocked the boss away & broke the fishing rod in half*
Amy: Come on, we got a plane to catch!
*She ran down the hallway, dragging us behind her, we were bouncing & hitting the stairs*
Ayla: Amy . . . You . . . Could . . . Untie . . . Us . . . First . . . And . . . What . . . About . . . My . . . Board . . . And . . . Rings?
Amy: Don't worry. I already got em!
*Just then, more Metarex came towards us. Amy stopped running, much to out relief*
Tails:*off-screen* AMY!
*Amy then crashed through a wall & landed on the X Tornado*
Tails: I'm heading back to the Blue Typhoon!
Amy: Roger!
Sonic: Now that we're free, how bout untying us!?
*Suddenly, we were dodging flying tridents, but Tails dodged them*
Tails: Missed me!
Ayla: Guess again!
*They both turned around & saw the rope had broken. All three of us were falling towards the water*
Tails: Sonic!
Sonic: Next time you wanna rescue us, don't!
*He then looked down & saw we were falling towards the water. As we braced ourselves for a big splash, a plane came flying towards us*
Chris:*off-screen* Hey Sonic!
Ayla: It's Chris!
Chris:*off-screen* Try these!
*A red ball of light came flying towards us. The red ball hit Sonic's feet & then he was wearing shoes just like Shadow's. Just as we hit the water, in a burst of strength, Shadow got us free from the ropes. The next thing I knew, Sonic & Shadow were floating above the water & I was in Shadow's arms, bridal style, my face a blushing mess*
Amy:*off-screen* Ayla! *we all looked up* Here!
*My Ring Blades & my board (in cube form) fell from the X Tornado. I caught the cube & my Rings*
Ayla: Thanks Amy! *I put my Ring Blades on, got my board to it's full size, & got on* I'm back in business!
*We all looked up at Chris' plane*
Sonic: Thanks for the lift, pal!
Tails: They're hover shoes, Amy! Now that's an inventive invention!
Chris: Thanks, Tails.
Amy: Guys, look!
*We then turned to an army of Metarex coming towards us*
Sonic: Now that I can stay dry, those fish heads are washed up! Ready to rock, sis!?
Ayla: Ready to roll, bro!
*We all hovered towards the Metarex & attacked. Sonic punched them away & I sliced them in half with my Ring Blades*
Shadow: Chaos Spear!
*He launched a shower of Chaos Spears on the Metarex. The boss launched missiles at us, but we dodged & surfed on the big wave he created. He then launched blasts of water at us, but we dodged again. Next came tridents, but Sonic did a spin dash & bulldozed right through them & the boss. We all looked up at Chris' plane*
Sonic: Couldn't have done it without you, Chris!
Ayla:*waving* Thanks a lot!
Amy: The Planet Egg!
*I looked to where the boss once stood & saw a big crystal sink into the water*
Tails: Mission accomplished!
*The water began to disappear & soon there was nothing but desert for miles & miles*
Sonic:*stomping his foot* This feels fantastic! Back on solid ground. *chuckle**I rolled my eyes**to Chris* These shoes are great! Hold on to 'em for me, will ya?
*He threw a yellow container to Chris, who caught it*
Chris: If you like the shoes, I've got some other stuff you can try.
Sonic:*thumbs up* Will do! *Chris returned it* Race you back to the Blue Typhoon!
*Sonic took off through the desert in a zig-zag line*
Ayla: Hey! You didn't say ready set go!
*I took off after him on my board*
