Emma woke up early the next morning to make breakfast for everyone but not before she fired up the computer and created a spreadsheet with a shower schedule. Now that there were four people in the house who all had to get ready to leave at nearly the same time, Emma thought a schedule would be good. She was still exhausted from the weekend and especially from their day in Wasaga, but she figured starting the week off with a nice breakfast would make the rest of the week better for everyone. When Sean woke up and saw she wasn't in bed, he went downstairs to check on her.
"Hey, babe."
She smiled and said, "Good morning."
He asked, slightly concerned, "Why are you up so early?"
"I wanted to make breakfast for my boys." She slid the paper over to him and said, "And make this."
Sean grabbed the paper and looked at it, "A shower schedule?"
"Yes. With four of us all getting ready at nearly the same time, I figured a schedule would be a good way to make sure we all have hot water."
"Well, you and I could always take our showers together."
"I like the way you think, Cameron."
"I am pretty smart sometimes. But yeah, I will shower with you all the time if I need to." Sean kissed her cheek. "I am in dire need of coffee this morning."
"We did have a pretty busy weekend."
"Yep." He turned around and started the coffee. "But it was a good weekend."
Emma smiled, "It was an excellent weekend."
Sean walked up to her, wrapped his arms around her from behind, and said, "I love you."
"I love you too."
Oliver shuffled down the stairs and waved to Sean and Emma.
Emma smiled and greeted Oliver, "Good morning, Oliver."
"Good morning, Miss Nelson, Mr. Cameron."
"Good morning, Oliver." Sean pulled away and continued to make the coffee.
Oliver walked over to the island and said, "I was wondering which towel I can use for the shower?"
"I knew I forgot to give you something!" Emma walked past him and toward the stairs, "Come with me, sweetie. I'll show you where everything is."
"Okay."
Sean asked, "What about the schedule?"
Emma said, "We'll start it tomorrow."
Oliver asked, "Schedule?"
Emma said, "I'll show you later."
Sean smiled as he watched Oliver and Emma go up the stairs. As he was sipping his coffee, Drew came upstairs. "Hey, kiddo."
"Hey. I smelled food."
'Yeah, mom is making breakfast. She'll be right back. How did you sleep?"
"Good."
Sean took another sip of his coffee then said, "So, I hear you were making out in my childhood bedroom."
Drew rolled his eyes, "We weren't making out."
Sean smiled and said, "I don't even think I did that in there." Drew shook his head, and Sean continued, "We're fine with it. We both remember what it was like being teenagers. Your mom and I made out all the time."
Drew scoffed, "You still do."
Sean laughed, and Emma walked back downstairs.
"Good morning, sweetie. I am making breakfast for everyone."
"I smelled it." Emma messed up Drew's hair as she walked by, and he groaned, "Mom!"
"Sorry, couldn't help it." She winked at him and went back to cooking.
Drew fixed his hair and asked, "So, um, we have a dance at school on Friday night."
Emma looked at him and asked, "And are you interested in going?"
Drew nodded, and Sean smiled behind Emma. The setup for the proposal was starting.
"Wow, I'm just shocked that you'd want to go to a dance."
Drew shrugged and said, "Well, I have a reason now."
Emma smiled and said, "Oh, right." She asked, "Do they need chaperones?" She turned to Sean and said, "Maybe I'll ask Dad."
Sean shook his head and said, "I can do that for you."
"You can?"
"Sure, I know you have a busy day with the Rosedale house. I'll call Archie when I get to work."
Emma said, "Perfect!" She looked at Drew and asked, "What's the theme?"
Drew panicked slightly and said, "Something to do with stars, I think. I'll find out later."
"Here you go." Emma handed him his omelet. "It is packed with lots of veggies."
Drew rolled his eyes, "Yeah, great."
Sean chuckled, and Emma shook her head.
After breakfast, Sean made an excuse to go down to Drew's room.
"Hey, kiddo. Nice job upstairs."
"Yeah, well, the sooner you're engaged, the sooner you get married, and the sooner we're a real family."
"We're already a real family, but I understand what you mean." Sean took a deep breath, "This is really happening."
"Are you nervous?"
"I'm nervous that I won't make it as nice as I want it to be for your mom."
"Mom loves you, and you just asking her will be a good thing. She'll say yes right away."
"Oh, I'm not worried about that." Sean looked at his phone and said, "Okay, I gotta go to work. Thanks again, kiddo."
"You're welcome."
"Have a good day at school."
"Thanks."
Sean jogged upstairs and made sure he had everything, "Okay, I'm heading out."
Emma kissed his cheek and said, "Bye, babe."
"Have a good day. Good luck with the Rosedale house."
"Thank you."
When Sean left, Emma walked upstairs and got ready for work.
Later that morning, Drew walked into the school office, and Archie was outside his office, rearranging the shelves near his door, "Hey, grandpa."
"Hey, I just spoke to your dad, and Operation Proposal is in full swing."
Drew smiled, "Good."
"It'll be great. I even got some kids to volunteer to help decorate Friday after school."
"You did?"
"Yep. In exchange for detention." Archie beamed. He was so proud of himself.
"That's perfect, so I can just pretend I'm coming here to meet my friends at the dance."
"Yep. We'll have music playing and everything."
"Mom's going to be so surprised."
Archie smiled, "This is a long time coming."
Drew nodded, "I know." He looked at the clock and said, "Well, I'd better get to my next class."
"I'm getting good reports from everyone. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks."
Oliver waited for Drew outside Archie's office and Drew filled him in on the plan. "I've never seen a proposal before."
"Me either. Well, not in real life. I've seen a lot on TV and in movies."
Oliver asked, "So do you think your mom will cry?"
Drew laughed and said, "I think my dad will."
Just then, Oliver's mom walked into Degrassi's main entrance. She was holding a duffel bag and a computer bag.
"Oh God, what's she doing here?"
Archie walked out of his office and said, "Um, boys, get to class."
"But Mr. Simpson—"
"Oliver, please. I'll see you after your next class, okay?"
Oliver nodded, and he walked down the hall with Drew. When they turned the corner, Oliver peeked around the wall and watched his mom hand off his stuff to Archie. It looked like Archie was trying to reason with her, but she walked away from him. Archie threw up his hands in frustration, shook his head, and walked into his office.
"Em, she just dropped it off and walked out. Not a word. I've never seen someone so cold and unfeeling."
Emma shook her head, "She's awful."
"Anyway, I just wanted to tell you what was going on."
"Thanks."
"Oliver will be in here soon, and I'll give him everything at the end of the day so he can bring it to your house. there's not enough room in his locker for all of this."
"Well, at least she had the decency to pack a bunch of stuff for him."
"Good point." Archie said, "So I'll talk to you later."
"Oh, dad, did Sean call you yet?"
"No?"
"We wanted to know if you need chaperones on Friday."
"Chaperones?" Archie shook his head and rolled his eyes, "Oh! Yes. Are you two volunteering?"
"Yes."
"That's great. Thanks, Em."
"You're welcome. Our son wants to attend a dance for the first time in his life, and we want to see it."
Archie laughed, "Understandable."
"Okay, gotta go."
"Bye, kiddo."
Emma immediately called Sean and filled him in on everything. "So Mrs. Middleton is actually a monster."
"Well, at least she brought Oliver's stuff to school."
"That's true."
"Oh, and dad said they do need chaperones."
Sean smiled and said, "Good. That should be fun."
Emma said, "You seem really gung ho about this dance."
Sean said, "I just want to torture Drew."
Emma laughed then said, "Ooh, I better go, but I just wanted to let you know that we have somewhere to be on Saturday if you say yes."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yep. A realtor I know in Oakville is having a party for a listing she has. It's a new build, sleek, modern, gorgeous. Anyway, she invited us, and I told her we'd try and make it, so can we?"
"Yes. Of course, we can. I have no problem attending work parties with you."
"Oh, good."
Sean smiled, knowing that Emma would have a beautiful ring to show off by Saturday night. "Hey, how about I bring dinner home tonight?"
"I don't mind cooking."
"You made breakfast for all of us on a Monday morning, Em. I can bring home dinner."
"Okay."
"Just text me and let me know what you all want, and I will bring it home."
"Sounds good."
"Love you."
"Love you too. Talk to you later."
Sean hung up and smiled.
Drew waited outside his grandpa's office while Oliver was inside talking. "Hey, Nelson, everything okay?"
Drew looked up at Ethan, "Yeah. Well, no."
"Are you in trouble?"
He shook his head, "No, I'm waiting for Oliver."
"Is he in trouble?"
Drew shook his head again, "His mom dropped off his stuff."
"Oh." Ethan said, "I can't believe his mom would do that to him." Drew and Oliver explained what happened with Oliver's mom during lunch. Ethan couldn't believe it.
Drew looked at him then Ethan said, "I know Mrs. Middleton is uptight and strict, but to kick him out like that?"
"I know."
"Thank goodness for your parents. Can they adopt me too?"
Drew laughed.
Right at that moment, Oliver walked out with his stuff, and Archie was right behind him, "Do not hesitate to ask Drew's parents or me for help, okay?"
Oliver nodded, "Okay, Mr. Simpson. Thank you."
"You're welcome." Archie looked at Ethan and Drew, who was standing there waiting, "So Ethan, are you all set for Friday night?"
"Yes, sir."
Drew turned to him and said, "Wait, when did you get detention?"
"Ugh, Mr. Perino didn't appreciate a joke I made during class."
Archie smiled and said, "Well, you kids better get going. I have a meeting to prepare for."
Drew asked, "Afterschool?"
"Yep. The joys of being the principal."
Drew smiled, "Bye, grandpa."
Archie walked back into his office, and the three boys walked through the lobby. Drew asked Oliver, "Are you okay?"
Oliver just nodded.
Drew noticed Emma waiting in the car, "Oh, good, my mom is already here."
"See you guys tomorrow!" Ethan jogged out of the double doors of the main entrance and towards his bus.
"Ready?"
Oliver again just nodded.
When Sean walked into the house that evening, he carried two bags of Chinese food with him, "Dinner has arrived."
"Hey, babe."
Sean looked around and asked, "Where are the boys?"
"Well, Oliver is in his room, and Drew is in his room."
"Uh oh, trouble in paradise already?" He placed the bags of food on the island and kissed Emma on the cheek.
Emma shook her head, "Oliver is having a tough time."
"Ah, because of his mom. Should I go talk to him?"
Emma smiled, "You're the best."
"I know."
Sean was about to walk away when Emma said, "Wait."
"Yes?"
She did the come hither motion with her finger, and Sean stepped up to her, "You think a kiss on the cheek is a sufficient way of saying hello to me?"
Sean smiled and crashed his mouth into Emma's. He kissed her so hard, she almost fell backward, but he held onto her, and when they pulled away, they were breathless, "Better?"
"Much."
Sean quickly kissed her again, then said, "There's more where that came from."
"Yeah?"
"Oh yeah." Sean walked to the stairs. "Later tonight, pretend you're tired, and we'll go to bed early."
Emma giggled, and Sean jogged up the stairs. He walked over to Oliver's room and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's me, Oliver."
"Come in."
Oliver quickly sat up and wiped off his face. Sean could tell he had been crying, and he closed the door behind him, "I'd ask how you are, but I can already tell you're not good."
"She just dropped off my stuff. She didn't even want to see me."
Sean sat next to Oliver, and Oliver started crying again. "Come here."
Oliver cried into Sean's shoulder.
"I know what it feels like not to feel wanted."
"You do?"
Sean said, "My parents kicked me out when I was 12."
Oliver pulled away from the hug and said, "Wow, that's young."
"Yep."
"So what did you do?"
"I got into a fight. I injured someone pretty badly." Oliver nodded, and Sean continued, "I had to come down here and live with my brother."
"Tracker."
"Yes."
"You get along well with your parents now."
"Yeah, well, it took some extraordinary circumstances for it to happen, but it did, and we have a great relationship now that I'm an adult."
"But they didn't kick you out because you were gay." Oliver wiped his face and said, "I don't think my mom will ever change."
Sean nodded, "It's true. She might not change, but you have us. And I know we're not your family, but we will support you no matter what."
Oliver smiled, "Thank you."
Sean asked, "Are you in the mood for dinner? If not, we can save it for you. Or I can bring it up here if you'd like."
"No, I'll come down. Just give me a few minutes to clean myself up."
"Will do, kiddo." Sean stood up and walked to the door.
"Mr. Cameron?"
Sean turned around, "Yeah?"
"I really appreciate everything you and Miss Nelson are doing for me."
"We know." Sean smiled and walked out of the room. Instead of heading back downstairs, Sean went up to the third floor and sat in the lounge area outside the bedroom for a few moments. He felt a little out of sorts and needed to calm down. After a few minutes of deep breathing, Sean felt a lot better. He joined Emma downstairs and waited for the kids to join them for dinner.
Emma was telling everyone how her day went during dinner. "I think the video is going to come out spectacular."
Sean said, "Oh yeah?"
Emma nodded, "Those guys really know what they're doing. They set up a drone shot from above, looking down at the house and the grounds. I cannot wait to see the finished product."
"Sounds great."
Emma smiled, "I think they could really help your business. Not that you need it."
"Look, I can use all the help I can get."
Oliver asked, "Even though Drake's your biggest client?"
Sean nodded, "Yes. Eventually, I'd like to have every famous person in Ontario bringing their car into my place."
Emma beamed and said, "That would be something."
Sean looked over at Drew and said, "Why are you so quiet?"
He shrugged and said, "I'm just eating."
Sean narrowed his eyes at his son, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine. I just have this assignment for math that I'm slightly worried about. I don't quite understand what we're doing in class."
Oliver said, "Me either, so I can't help you or myself."
Drew laughed and said, "Great."
Sean joked, "I can't help you either. I was never a math head."
Emma said, "Me either. But I'm sure you will figure it out eventually."
Drew looked at Oliver and said, "We can work on that after dinner."
Sean nodded, "Yeah, you guys can go down to Drew's room and work on it."
Emma looked at her food and smiled.
Drew looked at his parents and shook his head. He knew they were trying to get Oliver downstairs so they could have fun upstairs after dinner.
Sean asked Drew, "So how does the rest of your week look?"
Drew said, "Fine. We're just really looking forward to the dance."
Emma turned to him and said, "Really?"
Sean widened his eyes at Drew as if to say, "Don't go overboard."
"Yes. I know I've never been interested in dances before, but I also was never interested in anybody before now."
Emma smiled, and so did Oliver. "Well, that's sweet. I think we told you how we met at a dance."
Drew rolled his eyes, "Yes, mom."
"The Starlight, Starbright Dance."
Sean smiled, "The dance I was forced to go to."
Emma looked at Oliver and said, "I asked Sean to dance."
Oliver said, "You did? That's pretty forward for back then, right?"
Sean laughed, "Oliver, we didn't grow up in the '50s." Oliver blushed, and Sean said, 'But yes, it was pretty forward of her, but that's how she is."
"I was also stopping him from beating someone up."
Sean said, "Yeah, let's not talk about that."
Emma took a bite of her food then asked, "So is everyone else excited about the dance?"
Drew nodded. "Oh yeah. You know how people get about dances at Degrassi."
Emma smiled, "I do. I remember it well."
After they were finished with dinner, Oliver and Drew went down to the basement to work on their math assignment while Sean and Emma relaxed on the couch.
"So, how was your day at the shop?"
"It was good and busy."
Emma smiled, "That's because you're the best."
"Thank you."
"So later."
Sean smiled, "Yes?"
Emma asked, "What did you have in mind?"
"Well, I thought we could go to our room, get undressed and see what happens."
"Oh, is that it?"
Sean chuckled, "Do you want me to be descriptive?"
Emma turned to him and said, "Yes."
"Oh, okay." Sean lowered his voice and rubbed his nose against hers, "I would like to take you upstairs, undress you, kiss you everywhere and then make love to you for a while."
"Everywhere, huh?"
He nodded, "From your head to your toes and from your toes to your head, with a few important stops along the way."
"Oh yeah?" Sean nodded again, and Emma asked, "What are we waiting for?"
"I don't know."
"Let's go."
"You think they're doing it now?"
Drew nodded.
"Maybe I should sleep on the couch down here."
Drew laughed, "Oh yeah, they'll love that."
"It's not like we're doing anything."
Drew could hear the disappointment in Oliver's voice. "Do you want to do something?"
Oliver shrugged, "I don't know."
"Like what?"
"Kissing."
Drew said, "We've done that."
"Yeah, like four times. One time I panicked. Another time your mom walked in on us."
Drew nodded, "Let's finish this and then..." He stopped himself.
Oliver said, "And then what?"
"Then we'll see what happens."
Oliver smiled and said, "Okay."
"How does it keep getting better?"
Sean laughed, "I don't know, but I'm glad you said that."
"I'm not just saying it." Emma snuggled up against his chest, "I love having sex with you."
"Well, that's good." Emma pinched his side. "Ow."
"I'm serious. I'm so attracted to you. I would have sex with you anywhere."
"Well, we did do it in the shop, both in your car and on my desk."
"If I recall, we did it multiple times on your desk."
Sean laughed, "That desk has seen a lot of action since you came back into my life."
"Well, I'm glad I'll be the only one having sex with you on that desk."
Sean smiled, "Maybe we can sneak off during the dance on Friday night."
Emma sat up and turned to him, "Mr. Cameron, are you suggesting we defile our former school?"
"Maybe."
Emma smiled, "That would be kind of hot."
Sean said, "We'll see how we feel." Sean was hoping Emma would be so excited about being engaged that she would want to drag him into a classroom and have her way with him.
"I still can't believe our son willingly wants to go to a dance."
"Yeah, well, he has a boyfriend now."
"I know." Emma smiled, "Our son has a boyfriend."
Sean joked, "A live-in boyfriend."
Emma said, "You had a live-in girlfriend in high school."
"Not for that long, and we were both 16."
"True."
Sean asked, "So, what does your day look like tomorrow?"
"I am heading to the East Bay waterfront. There's a new build with amazing views of everything, and Dylan wanted to show me a few units."
"Oh yeah?"
"They're incredible from what I've seen in pictures. Especially the units that face south and west. So much light. We're seeing one up on the 38th floor."
Sean joked, "Is our friend Miriam part of this project?"
"God, I hope not. She hates me." Emma laughed and said, "She may try to throw me over a balcony."
Sean scoffed, "God forbid."
Drew and Oliver finished their homework and made out on Drew's bed for a while. All Drew thought about was how he couldn't believe what he had been missing this entire time. It was no wonder he hated his first kiss. He needed to be with a guy to know how fun kissing could be. As Drew was getting into it, Oliver pulled away, and Drew panicked, "Did I do something wrong?"
"No," Oliver shook his head and sat up, "Not at all." He smiled and said, "You're a pretty good kisser."
Drew blushed, "Thank God."
Oliver said, "I just don't want to go too far yet."
"Neither do I. I'm not ready for more than kissing."
This relieved Oliver, "Oh, good."
Drew nodded, then asked, "So, can we keep kissing?"
Oliver nodded, "Yes, please."
Drew smiled and kissed him again.
"Should I check on them?"
"No!" Sean stopped Emma, "Do not check on them."
"But what if they're—"
"Em, I want Drew to know we trust him. You do trust him, right?"
Emma nodded, "I do." She sat down at the foot of the bed and said, "I'm silly. It's not like they're going to have sex right away."
"Thank God."
"But I am slightly worried about the dynamic."
Sean asked, "How do you mean?"
"Well, you were a teenage boy. Remember how horny you were at 14?"
"Yes, I do, but I usually took care of that myself."
Emma joked, "Thank God. I definitely wouldn't have been ready for more than kissing."
"I wasn't really either, to be honest."
"I'm curious."
Sean raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
"How far did you and Amy get?"
He shrugged, "We made out a lot. I felt her up a few times. Nothing more than that, which is probably why she dumped me."
"You dumped me because I wouldn't make out with you that day in the ravine."
"I was an idiot."
Emma shook her head, "You were a teenage boy with needs. I get it now."
Sean caressed her face, "I was an idiot. A selfish idiot. You were going through a lot, and it wasn't like you were purposely avoiding me."
Emma smiled, "Wanna make out now?"
"Like you even have to ask."
