An Enemy in Need
(Ayla's POV)
*We were all standing in a soggy city on Planet Secco, surrounded by the citizens. Shadow had decided to stay at the Blue Typhoon. He said he wasn't a fan of crowds*
Elder: We are grateful for your heroism. You saved our planet egg and our planet. We shall do our best to bestow upon you the thanks that you deserve, by holding a festival today in your honor. A parade, music, dancing, and a feast to show our thanks.
Sonic:*whistle* Sounds good to me.
Amy: Me too! Especially the feast part!
Chris: Sounds like fun, Tails.
Tails: I'm not so sure I'm gonna like this.
Ayla: Oh, lighten up, Tails. It's a party. Enjoy it.
*Soon, we were all standing on a parade float that was shaped like a ship. The Elder was standing at the front of the ship & some of the citizens were dancing around it*
Chris: They go all out.
Sonic: Yeah . . .
Elder: Up!
*Two of the men suddenly picked me & Sonic up*
Man: One, two, three!
*They then threw Sonic & me into a net above us*
Elder: That's it! Now everybody!
*Chris, Amy, & Tails were thrown up after us & soon we were all bouncing around*
Chris: Why are they throwing us!?
Ayla: Don't know!
Elder: This is how we honor heroes!
*I then looked down & saw Knuckles, Cream, Cheese Emerl, & Cosmo walking beside the ship*
Cosmo: Look what I have!
*My eyes went wide when I saw the blue Chaos Emerald in her hands*
Ayla: A Chaos Emerald!
Sonic: Who found it?
Knuckles: I did, cuz I wasn't too busy partying with the locals.
Cream: Wow, that looks like fun.
Cheese: Chao-Chao!
Knuckles: Yeah, if you wanna feel like a yo-yo.
Cosmo: Why are they bouncing you like that?
Chris: It's for getting their Planet Egg back!
Sonic: It's a token of their appreciation.
Tails: I'm appreciated enough!
Amy: I can't take much more!
Cosmo: This is so wonderful, I can't believe we've already found one.
Cream: That means we only have six more to find, doesn't it, Cosmo?
Elder: You there, friends of the heroes! Let us honor you too! Throw them here! *Cosmo & Cream were thrown into the net* Come defy the forces of gravity!
Knuckles: I'm actually a big fan of gravity.
Ayla: Come on, Knuckles! Why do you have to be such a party pooper!?

*A few hours later, we were all partied out & went outside the city. When we got there, we all told Shadow what had happened. Just then, Knuckles ran up to us, with some very disturbing news*
Sonic: You want us to let Dr. Eggman use the Chaos Emerald?
Knuckles: He's promised to abandon his evil ways if we help him out.
*Sonic sighed, I faced-palmed, & Chris shook his head*
Tails: We've heard that before.
Chris: Tails is right, Knuckles.
Cream: Dr. Eggman is always saying he'll abandon his evil ways, but he never does.
*Knuckles started getting mad*
Amy: And every time, he somehow gets you to believe him.
Ayla: I'd think you'd have learned your lesson by now.
Knuckles: Well, I wasn't asking your permission! *he ran up to Cosmo* I'm the one who found this Emerald! *he grabbed it out of her hands* So I'll do what I want with it!
*Sonic shrugged & zoomed out in front of him*
Sonic: I can't let you do this, Knuckles!
Knuckles: Your gonna have to fight me to stop me.
Sonic: Yeah, I know.
Knuckles: If that's the way you want it!
Cosmo: Sonic, Knuckles, what are you two doing!?
*Knuckles put the Chaos Emerald on a nearby rock*
Knuckles: Ready?
Sonic: Ready.
*They both started to fight*
Ayla: And here we go again.
Cosmo: They're . . . Fighting . . . *Knuckles threw a punch at Sonic, but he jumped up & dodged. They then started throwing punches & kicks at each other* We've got to do something to stop this fighting, hey!
*She turned back towards the others, but that they didn't seem to care (not like that's a surprise)*
Amy: Do these boots make my legs look too skinny?
Cream: They look just fine, Amy.
Cheese: Chao-Chao Chao-Chao.
Chris: You wanna go take the X Tornado first, then?
Tails: Sure, why not?
Cosmo: Excuse me? Shouldn't we stop Knuckles and Sonic?
Tails: Nah, this is how they work their problems out.
Chris: Yeah, they do this all the time.
Amy: They'll just fight until they get tired of fighting.
Cream: It isn't a big deal.
Cheese: Chao-Chao Chao.
Cosmo: I just don't understand these creatures.
Ayla: It's okay, Cosmo. We're just used to it.
*Suddenly, there was big boom behind us. We turned around & saw Sonic & Knuckles still going at it*
Cosmo: Oh! I can't take it anymore!
*She ran towards them*
Ayla: Cosmo, wait stop! You'll get hurt!
*I ran after her. She went in between them*
Cosmo: Please, stop it!
Ayla: Cosmo, get down!
*I shielded her as rocks came tumbling down on us*
Cosmo: This isn't right.
Amy: Hey Cosmo, I wouldn't get too close if I were you.
*Sonic & Knuckles were getting really rough now. Suddenly, I turned & saw Eggman crawling towards the Chaos Emerald*
Ayla: Hey, Amy!
*She looked at me & I pointed towards the Chaos Emerald. She looked where I was pointing, back at me, & nodded. We both walked towards the Emerald*
Dr. Eggman: At last! A Chaos Emerald! Nothing can stop me now.
*We both stepped in front of him*
Amy: That's what you think, but you're wrong.
Ayla: The day you can sneak up on us is when pigs learn to fly.
Dr. Eggman: I - I can explain. *Amy swung her hammer at him, but missed* Ah! Watch where you're swinging that thing! *Tails, Chris, Cosmo, Cream, & Cheese all came up to him* How wonderful to see you all again.
*Sonic & Knuckles then came to join us*
Knuckles: Eggman!" He approaches him. What are you doing here?
Dr. Eggman: You mean, me?
Ayla: Who else?
*He held up a banana*
Dr. Eggman: I was just about to consume this delicious banana! *he peeled the banana & ate it* Tasty.
Amy: I know exactly what you're doing here, Eggman. You went to Knuckles because you knew he'd have pity on you and he and Sonic would fight about it, so you can go behind their backs and steal the Chaos Emerald!
*Eggman looked nervous*
Knuckles: Eggman, is that true?
Dr. Eggman: No, of course not! She's lying, Knuckles!
Amy: Payback time!
*She got her hammer ready*
Knuckles: No, Amy!
*Amy's hammer hit the ground, but she missed. Knuckles had picked up Eggman & pulled him away*
Dr. Eggman: I know I can always count on you, Knuckles.
Amy: Knuckles, you have got to be kidding me! How many more times are you gonna fall for Eggman's tricks!? Think about it.
Ayla: Yeah Knux, when are you going to learn?
Amy: Seriously, Eggman's never gonna change.
Knuckles: Eggman says he's seen the light and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and help him get off this planet!
Sonic:*shrugging* Here we go again.
Cream: Eggman lied before, Knuckles, and now he's lying again.
Cheese: Chao-Chao.
Knuckles: I'm giving him the Chaos Emerald!
Amy: You're gonna have to go through me to get it!
Knuckles: Is that so?
*Sonic ran up to them*
Sonic: But first, you'll have to go through me.
*Cosmo ran towards us*
Cosmo: Stop fighting, you two! We have to focus on the bigger crisis threatening all of us! If all we do is argue and fight, how are we supposed to band together and save the universe?
Knuckles: Out of the way, Cosmo.
Sonic: We don't want you to get hurt.
*Suddenly, the ground started shaking*
Dr. Eggman: What now?
*Just then, a giant metal hand came out of the ground, grabbing Cosmo. The hand belonged to a giant robot*
Decoe:*off-screen* DR. EGGMAN. WE'RE SORRY WE KEPT YOU WAITING.
Bocoe:*off-screen* WE'RE HERE TO RESCUE YOU.
Dr. Eggman: Metal meddlers, I don't need rescuing!
Decoe:*off-screen* BOKKUN TOLD US THAT YOU WERE IN TROUBLE.
Bocoe:*off-screen* A JAM.
Decoe:*off-screen* A PREDICAMENT.
Dr. Eggman: What did he say?
Bocoe:*off-screen* HE TOLD US THAT NOBODY FELL FOR YOUR PLAN TO STEAL THE CHAOS EMERALD.
Dr. Eggman: I wouldn't go so far as to say nobody fell for it, Knuckles certainly did. Oop!
*He covered his mouth*
Knuckles: I don't believe it! EGGMAN!
Dr. Eggman: Sorry, Knuckles. What can I say?
Sonic: Hate to say I told you so.
Knuckles: You tricked me!
Dr. Eggman: That's right. *he got in the robot**off-screen* But now you'll give me that Emerald or I'll crush your friend in the palm of my giant metal hand!
Decoe:*off-screen**whispering* THIS IS A MUCH BETTER PLAN THAN THE LAST ONE.
Bocoe:*off-screen**whispering* YOUR MICROPHONE IS STILL ON, DECOE.
*The hand holding Cosmo slowly began to close*
Cream: What do we do?
Cheese: Chao-Chao.
Knuckles: Put her down, Eggman!
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Don't think so.
Bocoe:*off-screen* GIVE US THE CHAOS EMERALD, THEN WE'LL DROP HER. I MEAN PUT HER DOWN GENTLY.
*Suddenly, the ground started shaking again*
Ayla: Oh come on, now what!?
*We all turned around & a giant yellow metal frog came out of the ground*
Chris: It's a Metarex!
*The Metarex stuck it's tongue out & caught the Chaos Emerald. It then went in it's mouth*
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Ahh! That thing ate the Emerald! Alright, boys, annihilate that amphibian and the Emerald is ours!
Decoe & Bocoe:*off-screen* WHATEVER YOU SAY DOCTOR!
*The whole robot came out of the ground & dropped Cosmo as it went towards the Metarex. Knuckles jumped up & caught her*
Knuckles: Are you okay?
Cosmo: Forget me, get the Emerald!
*We all looked towards Eggman's robot, who was wrestling with the Metarex. It then tried to drill into the Metarex, but it didn't even leave a scratch*
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Ah! The drill isn't working!
Decoe:*off-screen* IT'S ARMOR IS TOO STRONG!
Bocoe:*off-screen* WHAT'S THAT THING MADE OFF!?
*The Metarex then knocked Eggman's robot over with it's tongue*
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* We just got a tongue-lashing!
Decoe:*off-screen* I DON'T THINK WE CAN BEAT IT, DR. EGGMAN.
Bocoe:*off-screen* I HAVE A PLAN. LET'S LET SONIC AND THE OTHERS TAKE CARE OF IT.
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* GET THIS THING BACK ON ITS KEEP AND KEEP BATTLING!
Metarex Jumpee: YOU WHO DISTURB THE ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE, *RIBBIT* YOU CANNOT HAVE THE CHAOS EMERALDS. YOU MISUSE THEIR POWER. WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOULD POSSES THE EMERALDS.
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Really? I'll take a stab at seizing it anyway! Now stand still, so I can make a frog kabob!
*Eggman's robot then took a sword out of it's back. It charged at the Metarex, but missed. The Metarex had jumped up & then wrapped it's tongue around the robot's arm. The robot tried to pull the Metarex towards it, but the Metarex just sent a wave of electricity, shocking the robot & everyone inside. The robot then exploded, sending Eggman, Decoe, & Bocoe flying*
Bocoe: I THINK THAT FROG JUST SKEWERED US!
*And then they were out of sight. Knuckles ran towards the Metarex, wearing his Shovel Claws. He attacked the robot, but he didn't even make a dent in it. The Metarex just threw him to the side. Sonic & I tried to attack, but neither his spin dash or my Ring Blades worked. The next thing we knew, we were dodging the frog's tongue*
Metarex Jumpee: I CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO DETURE ME. I HAVE A MISSION. I HAVE COME FOR THE PLANET EGG.
Cream: Do you think they can stop it?
Cosmo: They have to. If they capture the Planet Egg, the whole planet will flood again!
Amy: We're open to suggestions, Cosmo.
Chris: Don't worry guys. I've got a plan.
*The Metarex started to hop away, but the three of us intercepted it*
Knuckles: Sonic! Ayla!
Sonic: We're not done with you yet!
Ayla: Your not going anywhere, Frog Lips!
*Suddenly, spikes came out of it's belly. It hopped up, ready to crush us, but it missed*
Knuckles: Oh man, how do we stop this thing?
Chris:*off-screen* Hey Metarex! Over here!
*We all looked up & saw Chris, who standing in one of the the ship's crows nest, holding a big blue ball*
Cosmo: He has the . . . The Planet Egg!
Metarex Jumpee: SO, YOU HAVE BEEN HIDING IT FROM ME.
*The sails of the ships began to unfold & the ship began to sail away*
Chris: If you want it, come and get it!
Metarex Jumpee: YOU WILL REGRET THIS.
*The Metarex hopped after the ship*
Cosmo: We have to do something to help him.
Amy: Maybe Chris knows what he's doing.
Cosmo: But still.
Knuckles: I'm not waiting to find out!
*He ran after the ship & the Metarex*
Sonic: Something tells me this plan involves the big cannon.
*He ran in the other direction. I knew immediately what "big cannon" he was talking about. Suddenly, the Blue Typhoon rose up out of the ground. The Metarex was still hopping after Chris*
Chris: *He jumped from the crow's nest, landed in the net & bounced up high* Sonic!
Ayla: Of course!
Cream: The Heave - Ho Festival!
*Chris then threw the ball over the Metarex's head. Suddenly, Knuckles jumped up & grabbed the blue ball. Then he was caught by the Metarex's tongue. Just then, a blue ball came zooming towards the Metarex & crashed right through it, completely destroying it*
Chris: Sonic, here!
*Knuckles landed on the sand, looking tired*
Cosmo: Knuckles.
Cream: Are you okay?
Knuckles: Yeah, and I think the Planet Egg is okay, too. *the "Planet Egg" suddenly, deflated* Wha - I didn't do it!
Amy: Is that a . . . Beach ball?
Chris:*off-screen* Sonic!
*We all looked up & saw Sonic land on the crow's nest. He & Chris gave each other a high five*
Sonic & Chris: Yes!
*Later, we were all standing on the ship. Knuckles then got down on his hands & knees*
Knuckles: I owe all of you a really big apology.
Sonic: We're not gonna hold it against ya, Knuckles. You made a bad call, that's all.
Knuckles: I guess so, but how could I let Eggman fool me?
Chris: Eggman knows he tricked you once before, and it worked again.
Ayla: That just goes to show how gullible you are.
*Knuckles winced*
Cosmo: Don't feel bad, Knuckles. You have a very trusting heart, and you wanna believe there's good in everybody. Because like me, you have a dream that everyone in the universe will unite one day.
Knuckles: Uh, thanks for looking at it that way, Cosmo. Who knows? Maybe that is the reason.
*The two of them shook hands*
Cosmo: I think it is.
Sonic: That's a nice way of looking at it, Knuckles, But, doesn't change the fact that you're a sucker.
*We all laughed*
Knuckles: Huh!? I'm gonna . . .
Tails: Let's start searching for the other Chaos Emeralds.
